Quality Indian food from top to bottom. My friend of Birmingham heritage had arrived back in the motherland and I wanted to impress. I had heard good noises about Milan Indian Cuisine. With my friend’s arrival being on the evening I thought it would be foolish of me not to take him to this Indian mainstay. Milan Indian Cuisine has had a presence on hadn’t seen my I finally got a chance to experience Milan Indian Cuisine on New Hall Street for decades. I wanted to find out why. 1. It’s big 2. It’s bright 3. It’s British It has all the hallmarks of the British Indian restaurant and more. The dishes on offer have influences from the breadth of India. The starters were served on banana leaf, something I experienced when I was in South India. The mains were text book British: Meat, Vegetable and sauce with a side of rice and Nan. Service was impeccable and food had depth of flavour. Milan has kept it’s old school style decor, which most would appreciate. Having seen Rajdoot recently, which an amazing, traditional visual experience. It would be great for Milan Indian Cuisine to do some similar. A highly polished experience.

This restaurant is sucks and super selfish. I can’t believe how they can being so selfish that playing loud music during night time. Ignore everybody live upstairs or near by them. When you call and told them to just even turn the volume lower, they hang you up. Not even sorry for what they are doing. Can you imagine you living with such noisy environment. Don’t support this business! They are super selfish, worse customer service!!

Dear Milan Indian Cuisine/ Owner It is very sad that I had to give you a 1 star rating if they had No stars for the rating I would of given you no stars it’s a shame you have to give at least 1 star. I’ve rated you 1 star due to the way you spoke to us and then walked away with really bad attitude, you really need to learn how to speak to people you have a stinking attitude. You did not accept our table minutes before closing this is a lie, your restaurant closes at 10.30pm we came to the restaurant at 10.04pm, we have evidence showing we arrived at 10.04pm, we also called the restaurant at 9.40pm asking if it is ok for us to come and still eat inside the restaurant you told us yes as long as we get to the restaurant 20 minutes before the kitchen closes. We did arrive before 20 minutes, again we have evidence of the phone call to the restaurant. We wanted to sit on a different table as the one you was giving us was right nexts to the bar, and you and your staff was standing there staring right at us as there was no1 else in the restaurant so we felt uncomfortable with you lot standing on top of our heads and staring at us. And my friend doesn’t drink so she didn’t want to be so close to the bar. Firstly we didn’t just eat outside food me and my friend ordered food and drinks from your restaurant, my friend had quickly picked up some fresh food from a takeaway before coming to your restaurant as she wanted to eat at the takeaway but I wanted to eat at your restaurant as I had a positive outcome when this restaurant was under a different management. So she got her food and then we came straight to your restaurant, she had only taken out a few wings before her food came from the kitchen as she was really hungry and we did tell you when you confronted us that it’s because she only eats halal food, but the guy with a beard and turban spoke back to us really rudely with bad attitude and walked away before we could even say anything else before we could explain anymore. We was not being dishonest use your words very carefully, as these kinds of words will get you no where in life. She was apologising when you came up to the table as she didn’t have a problem with putting the other food away if you didn’t like it. But at that moment of time she didn’t know the guy with a beard and turban would speak to us the way he did with bad attitude. The beard guy needs to learn to smile. And needs to learn customer services, the customer is always right. Also that waiter guy turned around also spoke to us rudely saying “God help you” I think God needs to help your restaurant as you don’t lot need to learn customer service he also said we should of asked if this restaurant was halal, I already knew this restaurant isn’t halal and didn’t have no halal signs on the door outside or inside. It’s a shame that you’ve lost us as a customer as we won’t be returning to this restaurant it’s also over priced. We would rather spend our money at a restaurant that has quality delicious Indian curry’s, like Akbar’s and Ithas at least they have better standard and customer service . We will also let our family and friends know not to be a customer at this restaurant.

One of the best Indian restaurant. Visited this restaurant with my family and enjoyed everything that we ordered. Particularly their house special and set menu are worth trying, you can never go wrong with it. Starting from receiving us to helping us what to order, the staff were indeed very helpful and supportive, especially the old slim staff who made an extra effort to check on us throughout our meal. I would definitely recommend food lovely to visit and I have already planned my next visit.

It has been around 30 years since I last visited this restaurant. It's just that I don't go down this end of Newhall St very often, and then not usually on a Friday night when we tend to go out for a curry. It has always had a good reputation and obviously changed over the years, I suspect for the better judging by our experience. The food and service was excellent. What was particularly pleasing was the very friendly Abdul's knowledge of the menu. Indian dishes can be distinctly different from your more common Bangladeshi restaurants and it's therefore worth checking how they prepare the dishes. Indian food is usually bespoke to the chef and the dishes are typically noticeably different from each other. A bit of knowledgeable advice from your waiter helps avoid any potential disappointment. I was really pleased that Abdul nailed the choice for me. Likewise he assisted the wife with the details of her salmon dish which she thoroughly enjoyed. Furthermore the pilau rice was superb with none of the all too common red or green food colouring. There was nothing wrong with the onion bhaji starter or the garlic naan either. Even the dips with the poppadoms were better than your usual. The kulfi dessert was also better than the "daleks" you normally get offered. More traditional desserts are also available. Overall a great night, far more relaxed and also a bit cheaper when compared to similar restaurants in the town centre. Well worth checking out and the short walk down Newhall St.

Although the food was good, we had several issues. Starting with dietary requirements. I specifically asked for a dish without peppers and was willing to change my choice if not possible. I got assured that there would be none. My dish arrived and there was peppers. I called a waiter to get it changed but I got called a liar by the staff saying that all peppers have been removed. A second one came a few minutes later and said the same thing to me. You could see the peppers in my plate and I showed them. Mistakes happen, but being called a liar is not acceptable. I am not allergic but the lack of responsibility this restaurant takes for dietary requirements are worrying me. Then, my friend had a dish so spicy that she could not eat it, and felt sick the next day. Again, that could suit some people, but there was no mention at all in the menu that the dish was hot. Lastly, the service was quite poorly, plates got removed for starters when people clearly were not finished, we requested water and got given only 5 glasses for a table of 9. They still charged us full price despite these issues, and added a 10% service charge. I'm afraid I would not recommend this place neither would go back.

A group of 11 of us dined at this restaurant unfortunately I was not particularly impressed with the food and as it was after 10pm when we arrived we felt that the staff were more interested in closing despite spending quite a lot of money in the establishment. Perhaps it may have been a better experience earlier in the day.

The food was tasty yet again. Came here after almost a year. Taste hasn't changed but been better. Tried the Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken dum Biryani and the Peshwari Naan. The Lamb was soft and tenderly cooked. Would definitely visit here again.

It was average at best. We've had much better elsewhere, both in terms of food and ambiance. Food we ordered for one of our mains came as a starter (it's listed under mains), the waiter didn't really care. Poppadoms never arrived but were charged for. In hindsight the prawn dish we ordered was a mistake, seriously overpriced for what is essentially just three grilled prawns.

Despite not having a reservation, the incredibly skilled staff at the renowned establishment managed to secure us a table. The atmosphere within the restaurant was undeniably charming and exuded a vibrant energy. Staff members were abundantly present, attentively waiting on guests' needs. For starters, I indulged in the delectable monkfish kebab, which possessed an exquisite delicacy that effortlessly melted in my mouth. As for the main course, I savored a delightful paneer dish accompanied by fragrant rice. The entire dining experience left such a lasting impression that I am truly eager to revisit this exceptional establishment once again.

Love love love...it's the place to be if you want to be different. Different is the new FAB. Service was on point. We had the in house staff coming around to the table to top up drinks or just simply to ask if we needed anything. Customer care is a definite 5 from me and my wife. Food is to perfection. We will subliminally be expected to be returning. Applause!!... Great me and my wife enjoyed . Thanks

Ordered a Deliveroo after seeing the high ratings and it was amazing! The food was just prepared when I arrived at the collection time with a friendly greeting. The staff were very nice and made sure I had everything. The food stayed hot and contained with no spillages. The chicken pathia was so good with the most tender chicken. The spice was just right. The massala chips were full of flavour and I couldn’t stop eating.

Excellent food, attentive personnel, comfortable tables and place, which is becoming difficult to find nowadays. The owner took the time to come to say hello. Me and my partner have dined there several times. It has definetly become a must everytime we go to Birmingham!

Had high hopes based on recent reviews. The food was pretty bland. Chicken shashlik was soulless. My curry tasted like an Italian tomato based dish. The quality of the ingredients was very good, but it lacked flavour. The naan was probably the most enjoyable mouthful. The inside is a bit tired. The service was very friendly and attentive. Alas, it's the food we go for and we won't be returning.

We ordered the food online and the quantity and taste was unexpected. We saw the good reviews and then only decided to order. We keep trying new restaurants always to order food but Milan really disappointed us in terms of taste and quantity too. Not a good thing for a person who is hungry and wish to eat something good. Specially, Indians won't like it at all.

This was a nice place. We had a fairly large family dinner here so they organised all the tables to make one big long table. Food was tasty but not too spicy. Portion size of serving / price ratio was possibly a shortfall. There was a very nice waiter who opened baby changing room for us 👍🏽👍🏽 and at short notice they provided special birthday cake which was a very good touch. Only minor negative was price compared to portion size. Parking in the area is not brilliant but Street parking is acceptable after 6pm on weekends. There is a local europarks car park ground but it is not clear whether you can park free on weekends. Overall good place.

Really nice place for a dinner. The staff is very friendly and have perfect manners. The place has a great atmosphere and is spacious. The dishes are great even tho we found the chicken slightly dry. The paneer was excellent. I took a mocktail and was a bit disappointed. It tasted just like juice and nothing more. Overall, great experience, great value for your money. An ideal place if you are searching for a friendly place where to eat for a reasonable price ( appetizers, mocktail, mains and dessert for less than 50£ for 2people) Thank you Milan staff 😊

Excellent service and authentic Indian cuisine. We dined in as well as ordered for delivery to our hotel; both experiences were superb. We stayed in Birmingham for few days and tried other places for Indian food as well. This place has best food and best service at very reasonable price.

Came here late Friday evening and were greeted very professionally and quickly seated at a table. All 3 of us chose to have the set menu which for me consisted of: 1 - poppadoms with the usual dips, 2 - meat kebab Selection (Lamb, Chicken, Prawn, Fish), 3 - Butter Chicken curry (including rice and Naan), 4 - chocolate truffle Was very impressed with the quantity of food for the price (£25). My only negative (hence the 4 star rating) was my friends chicken kebab in his starter was raw to the point it was pink almost all the way through. A replacement was offered but as we were full already they took his drinks off the final bill, so no complaint as the rest of the food was very well cooked. Would good again and would recommend.

Ate here on my own (which can mean getting ignored some places) and they were great. Attentive and friendly service. Not busy so no delays and I was asked if I wanted my main course soon as it was ready or would I prefer 5 minutes gap after starter. That doesn't happen too often and a nice touch. Starter (chaat) was beautifully presented in an edible basket and the yoghurt and tamarind used as decoration. Main course of tilapia, rice and Bombay potatoes was more conventional to look at but tasted delicious. Not super fancy like other Indian restaurants nearby (Lasan, Opheem, Asha) , but this is no-nonsense good value.

Superb food and service. The food was really delicious. The vegetarian and meat menu were both really good. Also when we asked about slightly off menu, very happy to accommodate. Highly recommend and will return.

Had an awesome meal at Milan. Cannot fault the services provided by the team at Milan. Parvinder the owner and head chef is a down to earth guy and recommended a few dishes which I tried. His recommendation was spot on. If you are in the vicinity of Birmingham City Centre please give this restaurant a try, you will not regret it. Definitely will be coming back when I am in Birmingham next.
