From the service to the food, everything was spot on. We arrived on time and was brought to a nice table by a friendly waiter who was attentive throughout the evening. Food was ordered and brought to the table in a speedy fashion. All very nice. I enjoyed my soft shell crabs and coconuty curry! 10/10. Oh and get the cocktails too!

Had a fabulous evening here with my husband celebrating our 6th anniversary! We tried the goat biryani, sikhandari lamb, monkfish curry and roomali roti. I liked the added touches of pappad and pani puri given to us as little appetisers on the house. And I was touched when a chocolate cake dessert was given to us complimentary to celebrate our special day. The management and servers were very attentive. I would definitely visit again for special occasions.

Our first experience dining here for a family birthday...wow! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff were superb and worked with us to customise the menu for our needs and the kids. Fabulous, divine food too. Lovely atmosphere here and very kids/family friendly.

This is clearly the best indian restaurant by far that we have visited over the years. Absolutely great and worth a detour. We were with a large party and we received a warm welcome and the seating in the restaurant gave us a feel of sitting comfortable in our living room. We had a vegetarian lunch. The starters were delicious and of the main dishes mouthwatering. The absolute best was their sweet potato kofta and thier dhal makhani. Also desserts were original and very enjoyable. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

I took my partner here for his birthday and we had a wonderful evening. The tasting menu was one of the best we've had, portion sizes were generous and the food was soooo fulfilling and satisfying. The pre starter of Pani Puri was divine and oh my gosh the mango chutney was amazing. The staff were very welcoming and atmosphere was relaxed. We can't wait to return.

I loved my meal here. The food, service, welcome and drinks were all exceptional. The menu is interesting with choices that go far beyond what you'd usually see. Our waiter talked us through the options and curated some great choices for us all and to complement each other. My starter of soft shell crab was cooked perfectly, so as to be light yet crisp. My lamb shank main a highlight. It was tender, rich and tasty meat with delicate spicing. The daal accompanying it was perfect. I'd especially mention the tasty veggie side dishes and wide choice of breads. The wine list was competitively priced and there were some fun and classic cocktails. I'll be returning in the near future.

I write a lot of reviews and always try to be fair, as such you have to compare Lasan with the likes if Asha's, and many other "higher end" similar restaurants. I have been to them all except Opheem which you could argue wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Lasan. Unsurprisingly each have their plus points, or things I thought could have been better. The service was very good but it didn't make me as special as some "cheap and cheerful" places do. Some waiters were on their first ever shift and they did a very good job. In regards to the food, Lasan is as good as anywhere, but that depends on what your preferences. We really enjoyed what we had, mostly excellent but there were some minor things should have been better. The "complimentary" poppadoms, incl just two teaspoons, or one each, of yoghurt dip and a very plain naan for example. Stunning starters, no complaints there. The meat and fish in our dishes was excellent, I have had gravy with more layers and depth of flavour but that depends on the dish. The desserts really stood out and well worth a try. No pinot grigio by the glass was disappointing for the wife but Bombay Bycicle IPA was a bonus for me. The atmosphere on our Friday night was too loud for us, it was more or less full, and wish we could have been seated in the upstairs area. Indeed it's one of the loudest restaurants I have sat in, perhaps some soft furnishings, curtains would be a good idea. The room was also quite cool, I did mention this when I first walked in but nothing changed. Not just us, the adjacent table thought the same. The entrance and down stairs toilets don't appear to cater for people with mobility issues. I didn't see any alternative provision but could be wrong so worth checking if needed. The stairs are very steep and the wife added that she thought anyone of a larger size would have difficulty in negotiating the layout of the ladies. It had a refit not too long ago and was this not considered or perhaps they just don't have the room. 10% was added to the bill, although I didn't notice this on the BRF Menu, likewise they charged us the full amount for a dessert that we thought would have been included within the set menu. Looking at dishes on other tables I was also wondering if the meals on the set menu are a cut down version of the main menu? Note that the parking isn't great in this part of Birmingham.

Absolutely amazing food and exemplary service. One of the best fine dine Indian restaurant in Birmingham. Went there for birthday- the chef gave us a complimentary beautiful dessert. Would recommend to book in advance as they get quite busy during the peak hours. Vegetarian starters, dal makhni , bombay aloo were fantastic!! Looking forward to visit again pretty soon!!

I booked Lasan for a special occasion. I ordered King Prawns, Goat Biryani, Kashmiri Rogan, Garlic Naans (2) & Still Water (2). For the two it cost us £77.65. It was a great experience overall. I did wish that the food was more spicy. The staff are lovely and helpful. Navil in particular was really nice to us. I would definitely recommend visiting if it’s a special occasion or going out with some friends.

We attended for date night. My husband made a late booking but they manage to fit us in. There was excellent customer service throughout. From the moment we entree the restaurant until we left. Our food took a little bit of time to come, slightly longer than expected. However, it was absolutely perfect when we ate. There are meat, vegetarian and vegan options. I loved the attention to detail provided by our servers throughout the night. The ambience of the restaurant was up to standard. I wanted to return the next day. My only wish was that they added Mango kulfi to the ice cream options. Thank you for providing the perfect date night. We had such romantic seating.

Have now been twice in the last 3 weeks. On arriving the second time we were greeted and remembered! I was asked if we wanted the same table, service like that makes you feel a little special! Visit Lasan to spoil yourself and try something a little different. We decided to have the a "fish" day. 2 of us had the Sarson king prawn starter whilst i had the Cochin scallops. We followed this with one Monkfish Jhol, one Allepy Halibut and a Fenugreek Chicken. I found the Monkfish to be nice and "meaty" with the flavour of the spices a perfect compliment. The halibut was absolutely stunning, great flavours which brought out the tastes of a very nice piece of fish. The chicken dish was subtly flavoured and not over powered by the spices or fenugreek. We were so full that we ordered a Bombay (Eton) mess, to share. This was great and large enough for all 3 of us to have a good taste each refreshing our palats. Great food with a couple of drinks each costing around £50 per head. This is a fantastic place to visit to treat yourself. Try something a little different and get away from the "mainstream" dishes. You will not be disappointed. Wonderful food in a beautiful restaurant, with great attentive and knowledgeable staff.

Truly unbelievable food, the passion and live in every dish is palpable. The decor is fantastic and the service is truly top notch. My personal recommendation would be the mixed starter and the slow cooked lamb shank

Amazing food here!! Tasting menu was sublime! Really tasty food. I would recommend the tasting menu for sure.. great dishes and well worth the price! We left pretty full and very happy. Ace place to go! Only slight thing would be staff hang about in doorways waiting for you to finish.. however wasn’t a busy night in the establishment.. will go back again soon! Thanks guys!

I brought my wife to Lasan for her Birthday and must say she was not disappointed. We had the taster menu and every course was incredible. Depth of flavour and unique takes on food that was really well thought out. Meat and fish were all cooked perfectly and beautifully tender. The staff were so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. We needed to be somewhere for another appointment and we’re worried we wouldn’t have time for every course, but the kitchen and waiting staff went into 5th gear and brought out everything extra quickly to ensure we’re were able to enjoy the whole meal (without a single drop in quality) Perfect meal Highly recommend for anyone wanting high end, high quality, unique Indian food.

I waited all week for this fine dinning experience ! Wow was I disappointed ☹️ We arrived at 7pm to be sat a a table under the air con , I asked for it to be turned off as I did not dress for winter during mid august ! Within 20 mins it was back on at 16c blowing the menu left on the table , I would not have noticed but what else do you do when waiting 45 mins between Causes on the £76 taster , no explanation of how the wine complemented the food ,40 years old and I have never left a restaurant or complained but I was so disappointed i felt it was my only option I will never return or recommend Once bitten twice shy

My partner and I enjoyed our 1 year wedding anniversary dinner here, and brought along our 6 week old newborn. The staff were extremely accommodating to us, and gave us a complementary sweet treat at the end for our anniversary which we really appreciated. Unfortunately we had to rush off for a train but would have loved to have stayed longer to enjoy the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. The food was fantastic, and our cocktails were very flavoursome, I would recommend the 'Last night in Bombay'. Would definitely recommend restaurant overall.

Was looking forward to eating here and went a few months back. Booked a table for 8.30 for the 7 course taster menu. Food was bland, takes half hour between every course. Ordered a bottle of champagne when we got in and that didn’t arrive until after the first course. Actually had somewhere to be so asked if we could speed it up. Got to the point we’d been there for over two hours and had 3 courses. Mentioned we’d skip a few courses as I didn’t want to be there until the early hours. The man was frankly quite rude and then started whipping out the courses together 🤣 stating ‘Let’s see how fast you can eat’ I said I’m not a pig and to return the extra courses that they miraculously sped up. Poor, poor and rude service!! Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t go. Plenty of other great restaurants in Birmingham to spend your money in then there. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Don't be fooled by the four pound signs against the cost of this place. My partner and I are vegetarian and paid around £40 for our meals and drinks. The food is very reasonably priced, especially for vegetable dishes. The chap serving us was incredibly kind and attentive. We would love to come here again next time we're in Birmingham. Would highly recommend for veggies and meat eaters alike 🌈

Absolutely loved this fine dining experience of Indian cuisine. The quality of the food was such that it satiated the appetite of our whole party. I couldn’t even finish my mains!

  • 1/5 Harsh P. 7 months ago on Google • 5 reviews
I booked the 7-course vegetarian option on my wife's birthday, and the experience was a culinary disaster. The atmosphere was good but not as impressive as expected for a Michelin-starred restaurant. It gave off more of an ordinary Indian restaurant vibe. Even Chaiiwala has better atmosphere and decor. The staff was welcoming, and the service was quick; however, the interaction when serving the dishes was minimal and rushed. They barely explained the dishes or why they were chosen for the 7-course meal. The cocktails we ordered were overly sweet, as if made by an inexperienced mixologist and when we asked to replace they took such a long time that we already finished our 2 courses in that time. Now, onto the food. Being vegetarian, there are multiple options in their menu, especially for vegetarian. Our experience with the 7-course meal was an absolute disaster, especially considering the hefty £70 per person price tag (food only). The food, which should have been the highlight, fell short from start to finish. Out of our 7 courses, 4 were Pakoras (see attached pictures), which were excessively oily and lacking in creativity or flavour. 2 course was ordinary paneer dish and 1 was dessert (halwa). When we discussed our food experience with the manager, he claimed it was due to our request for quick service, even though we made that request after our 5th course. In summary, our visit to Lasan turned out a huge disappointment. The high price did not match the quality of the food or service in any way. We left the restaurant feeling not only disappointed but also frustrated that we had wasted our money on such a subpar dining experience. If you're seeking a memorable dining experience for a special occasion, it's best to look elsewhere and avoid Lasan.

This is a very nice restaurant if you prefer fine dining in a posh place. Food was really tasty, we had starters scallops and mahi salmon and for mains spring chicken, nihaari style beef , naan, goat biryani . The beetroot halwa was also amazing. Chefs have gone an extra mile into every dish which must be appreciated.

Amazing experience! The manager and servers where absolutely brilliant. The food very good ! We took the banquet menu but we wanted to try something that wasn't in the menu but Atikur made it happen. We discovered alot of different dishes. There was a lot of litle attentions! We loved our experience there. I recommend !

I’m a native of Birmingham and as you might expect I’ve had innumerable curries and Indian fayre. I’ve also eaten in many of the cities fine dining establishments, however I am shocked to say that Lasan is probably the best Indian food I’ve tasted. That is to say, it was well cooked, well presented, and as authentic a taste as you will get in a fine dining setting. The quality of the ingredients are fabulous, fresh and distinct. Everyone from our server to the host was friendly, attentive and welcoming. The look and feel of Lasan was a surprise, no faux India, more art nouveau with an hint of India. Suffice to say I’m impressed. No notes given

Absolutely fantastic Indian restaurant with great service, beautiful decor and gorgeous food. Attended for a works event with 7 people. Were seated quickly and constantly attended throughout the set meal. Apart from the slightly strange entree (which was something pastry and chick pea based!) the rest of the meal was amazing. The meat was cooked to perfection and all sundries perfect. An excellent meal and possibly the best Indian food I've ever had. Thank you. 🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛

Incredibly friendly and welcoming from the get go. The manager, Atikur, was brilliant, making sure that our experience was smooth and enjoyable all throughout even when the group had specific demands. The atmosphere and decorations were beautiful and joyful which contributed to this great experience. The food was mostly exquisite with the exception of slightly luster lacking dishes. However, overall, the food was still at a high level and the whole experience was simply amazing. A very different, in the best way possible, take on Indian cuisine. Would definitely recommend.

Went there on a Saturday at 6pm. Wasn't very busy. On street car park was free. Service was excellent. Friendly and attentive waiters. The salmon starter was tasty and well presented. Unfortunately the main meal was tasteless. Ordered a Lamb Roganjosh and it tasted like a watered down standard lamb curry. The Fenugreek Chicken looked amazing however it wasn't as flavoursome as I expected. The atmosphere was great.

Exquisite. I usually food as "good" or "excellent" but this was exquisite. The flavours were so different to your usual Indian. The date sticky toffee cake suite was worth leaving space for! It was partly a birthday celebration for which we received a wee celebratory tray bake with candle.

From the first moment you step in this place the personel give you a pleasant feeling. Very hospitable waiters, it is a nice place to pass time with friends or with your date. delicious meals, qualified chief cook and stuff, competitive cost and courteous service. Highly recommended.

  • 5/5 Lee A. 3 years ago on Google
Just amazing. Great staff, great atmosphere and the food was to die for. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. Our fairly substantial meal for two of two mains and four sides/sundries, plus a drink each would have been around £40-£45 per head without the eat out to help out, which made it even more worth while. If you're just after a Balti, this isn't the place for you. Otherwise, book a table! We'll definitely be back (though probably only as a special treat).
