Great insight into how thing were in the local area over a century ago. The Black Country was at the heart of the industrial revolution because of it's richness in mineral resources, and this permanent exhibition keeps that history alive. The workers acting out roles are great, and the explanations of how things were used or done are very detailed. It's a great day out for those with very inquisitive children. The fish & chips from Hobbs & Sons restaurant are delicious. Cooked in beef dripping, but vegetarian chips are also available. It's a must to try some of the Ales in the Bottle & Glass Inn. I paid £50 for my family of 4 for our first visit, and was then able to use the unchained pass to visit multiple times for free for a year. This came in handy because our first visit was during covid restrictions, so the quality was impacted. It's £3.50 to use the car park, and you pay this to buy a token from the gift shop which you use when exiting.

This place is a real experience with lots to do for all ages. The staff, actors and demonstrations really help to bring the place to life, their enthusiasm shines through. I loved the way you could literally walk anywhere, through back yards, upstairs and downstairs in the houses etc. Easy to spend the whole day, especially if combined with the canal boat cavern tour (separate company to the museum). Very professionally run. The only small downside to our visit was the large amount of building work going on for their new area. But it didn't ruin our experience. Highly recommended.

An absolute pleasure visiting today. Pricing is reasonable. It was extra special due to the jubilee. Meeting Queen Victoria was great. Only an actor but she displayed real regal presence. There's some real major works going on but does not distract from the remainder of the existing attractions. Staff are amazing. They get into real character and their knowledge is incredible. They take it all in their stride. Such dedication. This place is amazing and with the new builds going on, bringing the site into the 60's they are future proofing the whole area. A jewel in the heart of the proud people of the Black Country.

Amazing day out. We spent all day here, there was loads to see and learn about. The staff are more than just dressed the part, they are well informed, and seem to love sharing their history with tourists. Would definitely visit again!

Amazing, completely immersive experience! Everything is restored and maintained beautifully. The staff and volunteers are fantastic actors and all in costume too! Perfect day out for anyone, any age. It's worth every single penny. Honestly, I felt like we'd gone back in time, and we didn't want to leave! Great to see they're still expanding and adding new buildings, too.

It's really is an interesting step back in time. Lots of houses, shops, and interesting demonstrations to be seen. The boat yard reminds you of scenes from the Peaky Blinders. The underground mine tour is fascinating and shows how hard life used to be for young and old. A brillant day day for the whole family.

I have been here 5 times and it never fails to make me smile, its a history journey through the Black country decades with the actual buildings and furniture from the era's. The shops are fantastically realistic, and you can buy sweets and cakes and goodies. Pubs and chips, canal boats, trams and bus trips. The best part of the day is the under ground mines, with real stories an absolute brilliant experience. The picnic area's are large, the toilet facilities are many, very clean! The funfair is lovely for the children. Parking is good too. Great place to take people to show the life of hard working families in the black country.

This is our second visit back to the Black Country Living Museum as we brought a family ticket that then allows free entrance for 12 months. It was certainly worthy of a second visit as there really is so much to see. It very much is a living museum and it is History brought to life in front of yours eyes. We arrived in the afternoon and it was pleasing that the Traditional Fish and Chip Bar had very little queue as we were keen to sample the highly rated food. We were not disappointed! They were tasty and excellent. There is lots to see and do and it is especially interesting as well to children as part of learning about British History. Child and adult alike will enjoy this experience as you can not only see what living was like during the time but smell it and touch it essentially bringing your own imagination to life. Accessibility is good and adequate very clean toilet facilities. If History is your thing I cannot see people being disappointed. We will be using our pass to come back again.

One of the best days out ever. So much to see and so many stories to hear. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to return later in the year. Ps. The chips were well worth queuing for!!

What an absolutely beautiful time capsule! It's like stepping right back in time, people from every era are busy going about their day but never fail to stay welcoming. We loved the interactive elements such as the school and the serving chip shops/pub as well, all very informative. Would definitely love to come back sometime!

Came here on a Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a really throwback to yesteryear. It's a huge site and there is so much to see. The building and shops etc. Are all from different eras. When we went they were currently building new sections and shops so will be going again. We purchased our tickets online and it also gives you free entry within 12 months. The detail of the shops and props are brilliant and a really good experience l. We also went down the mine which is a really good experience highly recommended. But be careful as sections have super low ceilings. You can also get food on site as well.

Having last been 20 years ago I have to say the experience was not as good. Some of the best / main attractions were not open. Where shops were selling their wares the queues were huge, staffing? I had the distinct feeling that there was a lack of staff all over, not surprising given the current economical climate but it did have an adverse effect. Why was the silent cinema only showing 1100 and 1600? Should Have been far more showings even with covid restrictions. The shop displays generally could do with a good cleaning, the victorians would not be able to sell much as mucky as they are. Under construction but I can't imagine why a new and huge visitor centre was needed, the current is perfectly adequate. Should spend the money on new attractions Funfair was half the size it was, why - surely a good money spinner? Not enough museum based stock in the shop, staff didn't know what they had or where it was T shirts wise. Marketing should be as slick as if they want to make money, need to change contracts I think or hire in someone good. Still, weather was nice and a lot to be enjoyed like the on site pub!

Since my first visit when I was at school, the museum has grown and changed so much over the years. I visited at Christmas for the first time recently and it was so much fun. The living museum characters included entertainers, police, carolers, townsfolk, and Santa Clause himself. The buildings are all available to experience, including the chapel, the school, the bank, tailors, pubs, workers institute--and the industrial parts with canal (used as part of the Peaky Blinders set.) There's a lot to do, and a lot of unique performers sprinkled in different areas at Christmas time. There was a fantastic Gospel Choir, one of the best I've seen! I'd recommend getting there as soon as you can because the roasted chestnuts, food and drink will sell out. I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the unorganised queuing system. I waited 20 minutes in a queue that said "mulled wine" to be told it wasn't available. There were vegan food options but only "stew" when I got there, everything else had gone! I'd love to go again, but would definitely come earlier for the Glad Tidings event.

Can honestly say that today's visit to BCLM has been the highlight of my year... what a fantastic day out! Everything is very safe and there are one way systems put in place, plus plenty of hand sanitiser stations. We did the underground canal trip, which was really great, interesting and informative and highly recommended! All of the staff are 'in character' and are more than happy to stop for a chat and tell you the history of the place, shops etc. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough and have spent the entire day smiling! Thank you for a wonderful day out!

We visited for our covid vaccination. It was a well managed experience. Very friendly staff and volunteers ensured the whole process went smoothly and were cheerful and helpful throughout. It was great to see and read the informative posters relating to the industrial heritage of the Black Country as we shuffled along in a socially distanced crocodile. We will be back in better times to see the exhibits.

I booked to visit the black country museum as a birthday treat for myself. And I absolutely loved it! Due to booking a large family ticket , we now have unlimited access for the next 12 months , which will be great when the children are on school holidays! I've always enjoyed history and it was amazing to see history brought to life right in front of your eyes. Cannot wait to return! An amazing day out for everyone!!

This was a wonderful day out. Lots to see and do. Old cars and vehicles to see. The good ole days in living colour. Old shops, a school to experience ( really good lesson) entry fee £20 but you get a free return within a year. A canal Barge ride into the tunnels and mines for £10. Tour guides are great. Big car park £3.50 all day but awkward to use. We'll recommend.

We booked for the Santa hunt and what a great day we had. Dave was our excellent guide who was hilarious and entertaining throughout and made my son and daughters day. Also all of the other characters were great especially the blacksmith. Finished our visit off with a bag of fish and chips. Popped into the cake shop and then enjoyed a pint of mild and mulled wine in the pub. Thank you again for a well organised day

Good museum to visit to learn about history of coal mining around the area. There is a guided tour to one of the mines on site. Lots of buildings brought into the site brick by brick as they say to give the feel of the time. Done a good job. In my view you need more than a day to properly see all the sections. Tickets allow you to revisit for a year which is really helpful. Fairly large site and the car parks are fairly big. It is £3.50 for the day for the car park. Payment for the car park is at the gift shop or use the machine near the gift shop.

Time slot booked for 11:30. Extremely helpful staff on entering. This place is a must see - all one way, arrows clearly marked. A trip into the past, with knowledgeable staff, who dress and become a part of our amazing industrial history and the way we used to live. Especially the man who owns the hardware store- fantastic! Trying his best to sell me his wares. Fish and chips are delicious and having a vegetarian in our group, it was no problem to have the chips fried in vegetable oil. We didn't get to see everything, so the fact that we can go as many times as like for a year on the three tickets we bought is an added bonus!

What a fantastic day our...Next year there will be further additions as they are currently building replica 1950, 1960 houses. Lots of interesting places and if you enjoyed Peaky Blinders TV series some places like the foundry (Charlie's Yard) were filmed here at the museum. Tickets are valid for a complete year so I'm going back in 2022.

Excellent day out! Entry is around £19 but does give you 1 year of unlimited entry. Parking is £3.50 for a whole day (but you could easily park for free near the cinema which is a 10min walk). The whole village is massive and it took us over 4h to see it fully. There is a free bus journey that you can take as many times as you want on a set route. There is a variety of shops to explore with lots of interesting objects of day to day life. Some shops have staff that explain a bit of the history, other shops are empty and just to walk through and peruse. There is a fish & chip shop where you can purchase a large portion for £8.50 (it is very tasty and filling), there is a sweet shop where hard boiled sweets can be purchased, a couple of pubs where you can buy alcohol, a chocolate shop and a cake/biscuit shop. Card and cash are accepted throughout. There is a chain making demonstration which is very interesting with option for asking questions. Also a walking tour is provided, however we didn’t keep up with it as it was too difficult to hear the tour guide, they seemed very knowledgable but really needed some kind of microphone. There is a cinema which shows short films regularly (about 10-15min shows of old films). Would recommend.

My husband and I drove almost to hour to visit but it was worth it! I love visiting old town museums and this one was outstanding. Once you step inside you really feel like you traveled back in time. The little village is beautiful and realistic. I like the fact that you can enter inside the shops and houses. It makes it more interactive and it feels so real. The staff is very kind and friendly. They are good at playing their characters. We stayed for 5 hours but we took our time. I would just like to add more informations about the bus ride would be nice as we found it hard to figure it out. Other than that everything was perfect! I can’t wait to come back to see the new 60s village. Looks amazing!

We attended the 1940s event on Saturday evening and my sister and I absolutely loved it. We've never visited the museum before and we were both excited for the 1940's event. The staff were amazing, very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The atmosphere was fabulous and it was lovely to see so many people dressed up. We loved it and will be back.... and as Dame Vera Lynn said..."we'll meet again"

I went for my covid vaccination, the staff from the man at the car park entrance to the one on the exit were fantastic. They could not be more helpful, I am sure behind their masks they were smiling and laughter predominate. Yes we had to wait, in line but I joined the queue as requested 10 minutes before my appointment. The entire process took 30 minutes, a very smooth four stage process

Interesting place to visit on how life use to be. Join in the fun at the school is a must as Mr Griffiths will get you to do your times table and recite the alphabet forwards and backwards and be careful you don't get picked out for punishment but all in good fun. Be mindful their are queues at the chip and sweet shops and their are seating available throughout the site. For those with disabilities the parking is free for blue badge holders which is immediately on your right as you cross the barrier and collect your token from a member of staff as you proceed to be checked in as you will need this to leave site.

We had a really lovely day here. The school was a real eye opener for my daughter which was great, real shame we didn’t get to use the slates to write on but again COVID ruins the fun a bit. The detail they have put into this is absolutely fantastic. We went on the canal trip which was extra but well worth it. Last time we went you got to do some legging if I remember correctly, this time we didn’t. I’m guessing that’s due to COVID. Top tip, get in the queue for fish and chips early as it gets very long. We waited almost an hour for ours. I have to say they were absolutely worth the wait. Don’t miss the gas demonstration it’s really interesting. Really fun and educational day out for all the family.

Outstanding day out and great value. We spent 4 hours here and only managed about half the exhibits . The people were lovely and friendly. Made us really welcome with witty and informative narration. Way to many things to pick a high point of the day. That said the nail maker, chain maker and the chap in the hardware store made our visit.

I had the pleasure of photographing a corporate event out of hours recently. The staff were so supportive and knowledgeable. The venue itself is a real testament to a bygone era and you are instantly transported to the period. A great day out for an educational and fun combo. Copyright GCG Photography.

Lovely and clean, fantastic parking bays for disabled users, with various sizes depending on your requirements. Great touches like actors, shops actually serving fish and chips, fuzzy vimto was fantastic. The old bus ride was a great way to move around the areas. Be prepared for uneven ground, and some steep inclines. The school lesson was funny and informative. To see the teacher walk in and the children go quiet was so funny. Staff very friendly, helpful. No embarrassing question regarding my disability and my carer. We have decided to go back to see the new area, and also when we can plan to go on the canal. Purely because I felt we were not constantly pushed towards more spending point. Overall, a lovely day out. Reasonable prices, information and history, plenty for all ages, compared to Cadburys world, it was not about how much more than the entrance fee they can get you to part with.

This is a really interesting place to visit with lots to see and visit, the staff are excellent and put everything into historical context. The place is well maintained with distinct period streets and areas. The cafes, chip shops and pubs are well run and there is a good selection of places and things to eat and drink. There is a good deal of walking involved to see the whole place, but on the day we visited there was a bus service that ran round the site giving tired feet and legs a rest. There are lots of school visits so sometimes shops and houses can be crowded and difficult to access, just go to another place for 10 mins or so and the kids will have moved on and you have access. There is a canal section that is really interesting, but taken as a whole this is a really good place to while away a day and also learn a lot about the area, its industry and its people. Toilets are clean, but sometimes of the period, there is plenty of paid parking.

Fabulous visit, watch out for the Mine tour. Can be claustrophobic, have to crouch down. Only a few steps. A very short entrance not deep at all. Whole thing lasts 30 minutes. Well worth it, fascinating information. Great day out. We parked down the road half a mile away, and walked in. Car park expensive for us at 3.50. Inside the grounds, everything has been worked out with even more plans and buildings being built. Really builds a picture of how life used to even a whole working street with shops and staff in character and costumes. I say ask many questions, talk to everyone, enjoy a picnic lunch in the seated bench area. Absorb and learn.

A great experience. Haven't been here in over 20 years and wasn't sure what to expect. A little disappointed with some aspects of the experience. Especially the sweet shops. Why have all the sweets and scales on display but only let us buy pre packed bags. It takes the shine off the experience. But it good day out. A great view back at the history of the black country and the people around the museum are very knowledgeable and interact well with the public.

Oh I cannot say enough positive things about this place. I just love it! perfect environment if you want to just hang out by yourself as you will have plenty of opportunities to speak to the volunteers and staff. They are all so lovely and friendly. Also very well educated. I went to experience the Mine, unfortunately no photos are allowed there but i very much enjoyed this. Then walk via town with stop for a lunch. They hve very good coffee there! It is also good plce for groups, families, etc… just perfect day out of the house. You will definitively learn something from our past there.

What a fabulous day out! Worth every penny of the entry price. (For me, 67, parts of it where like travelling back to my childhood). It really is a living museum. The staff are superb. Not one could I find that didn't appear to absolutely love their job. Their interaction really makes the visit. The place is very well kept - clean and well preserved and all facilities are readily available. Every so often along comes a bus or a truck. It really is fantastic and authentic. We all had fish and chips for lunch and the grandchildren asked how come they were so good! Which they were. There was just so much to see. ( so we'll definitely have visit again soon because we couldn't fit it all in in one go. And it's free.) My wife is in a wheelchair and found the going fairly easy. She could also get into a lot of the buildings - especially the newer exhibits. A visit to the schoolroom is so worth it ( and fun). Gives you a real taste of education in the past. The fairground was fun. The grandchildren loved it. A really good day out.

3rd visit this year, fantastic attraction. Ideally better suited for fairer weather, as the majority of the site is outdoors. All the staff & themed actors are great & knowledgeable. Majority of the site is wheelchair accessible, but access to some buildings is not. The coal mine was brilliant, highly recommended.

Learning history in a hands-on, fun way. Enjoyable for all ages with plenty to see and do. Enjoyed a little bus journey, school, butchers for a pork pie and sweetie shop. Although there was a que for chips, it was worth the wait as they were so good. Children enjoyed playing games on the cobbled street.

Absolutely an amazing place, it really is like walking back in time, there's so much to see and they are opening some more places this year, building a library too, there's also a fair ground, we didnt go there though, I would recommend the black country living museum to all ages, we're going to take the grandkids next time, we got there about 10.30, we never left til about 3.30pm, time just went so quick, my only gripe was the chippy, they put far too much salt on the chips, it was like she just tipped a whole salt shaker on the chips, some people will love that but to me it ruined the chips, other than that we had an amazing day, toilets very clean, cafe very good but food expensive, staff very friendly and all dressed as they would have in the years gone by!!! Go n have an amazing day with the kids, there's a picnic area if you want to take your own food, worth every penny we paid to get in 😃

Fantastic day out well worth another visit. Adults and kids 9,7 an 5 all loved it even the teens 13,14 and 16 enjoyed the experience I loved it that much I'm taking the husband back in a couple of weeks. Staff were great fun and very informative, loved the costumes. It is a little hilly so small mobility scooters struggled a little but they do hire wheelchairs...some exhibits are on uneven/loose ground like the mine shaft, anchor and chain making demo... caves are well worth a visit, again we all enjoyed it. Looking inside the houses was fascinating to see how we used to live.

Great place to step back in time, buildings from the past painstakingly moved and rebuilt to preserve them and the heritage they represent, lots of stuff being added so it can only get better, entrance fee gives free entry for 12 months so even better. Lots to see and do and you have to try the fish and chips…

Black country museum is a must visit. It's an old charming town with lots of friendly locals. Kind of reminded me of Annesburg in Red dead redemption 2 or some town of that era. There is also a gas light show which is quite informative. In the evening, there's a lantern show which adds to the asthetics of this beautiful town

Absolutely fantastic. Came here with my 2 children & was blown away. They loved it here & I strongly recommend visiting here if you have kids as they were occupied the whole day! As well as that it’s really nice just to have a stroll about the beautiful buildings!! Already planning to come back

Interesting enough but not a whole lot to see. Staff around the town are dressed appropriately according to the era the museum is portraying. You can sit in the old buses and be transported around the town. There are interesting old little houses you can look into and see how people used to live. There are cool old cars. There are interesting shops showing period specific items. The staff seem to rattle off a few lines of information they've memorised but don't have any real deep understanding of the things they're covering. Overall a cool place to spend an hour or so. The gift shop is cool.

This is a great outdoor museum! Really enjoyed my visit, it’s was great to see how life was back in 1900’s, 30’s and further back. Also the Pit and Miners section was interesting and all the staff played the parts excellently. There is lots of old cars, bikes and buses (the buses actually run if you don’t want to walk) to see. Also I’d highly recommend trying the Fish &Chips and calling into the pubs for a drink even a soft drink but there is also lots of picnic tables if you want to bring your own lunch. I personally thought that it’s great value for money, the tickets was just under £20 but on entry I told to keep my ticket and it will get me unlimited entry for the next year and I will be back. Parking is only £3.50 for the day so you can spend as long as you want and not worry about car parking charges. I can’t wait to go back and see the new 40’s 50’s and 60’s streets that are currently under construction. If you love history then this is a must for you!

A surreal experience! ⭐️ Spent a few hours here walking around the grounds in and out of historic looking shops and houses. There’s staff on-site dressed up acting, along with places to eat and an old fashioned pub to drink at. The chip shop is worth eating at if you can bare to wait in the queue! It looks like they’re expanding all the time so it’s a place worth re-visiting in the future! Definitely a worth while visit!

Superb experience. A wide range of period buildings , commercial, industrial and private. The layout is interesting and you really get a feel for what it was like to live and work in the area at the time. The period characters you meet are very knowledgeable about their role and really bring the place alive. We did the mine experience which was excellent though not suitable for anyone claustrophobic! The ticket lasts a year and is great value as you could easily enjoy revisiting to see more.

Really lovely day out, had amazing fish and chips. The only downside was I thought more of the shops might sell things. The mine tour was the best part, Bryce gave a great tour and seemed really informed, clear loads of effort was put into it 😊

Staff are great, friendly, and very kind and considerate. They have made a lot of changes to the museum, for the better I must add . But the fish and chips are fantastic. Good place for all ages to enjoy. We take a school party up every year and they all really enjoyed it.

How bin ya? Love this place. Full of history and authentic surroundings, it's actually like stepping back in time. Plenty to see and do, go down a coal mine. Great fun filled family day out. Lots of places to eat/dine in/out. Lots of toilets on site. Gift shops. Have to try the chip shops and sweet shop and get a pint in one of the pubs and if you're an avid peaky blinders fan like myself, you most Definitely have to go down to the canal side, all the takes of peaky blinders come rushing to the surface and plenty of peaky blinders memorabilia to buy!.. mini fun fair, cinema.. just too much to mention you just need to visit here and experience the day yourself. You pay for a day ticket but you get a 12 month return ticket, unlimited use for free! Plenty to join in with aswell like going back to school, make music with instruments and a canal boat ride down the tunnel (extra cost) and other workshops on site. Play park for kids and plenty of dining out areas. Brilliant! but bare in mind, it does get busy which is to be expected so beat to pre book online and get an early spot

We had a really good family day out with daughters and grandchildren. There is plenty to see and do plus food and a few more traditional fairground rides. We bought timed entry tickets which worked well and seem to give free entry again at a later date. Good day out for kids and adults alike. We arrived at 11.30am and left at 6.30pm and the kids moaned because they weren't ready to go.

How is this out first visit here! We had so much fun! We can't wait to come back very soon. My children enjoyed the mine, the school and the workshop they run during the holidays. There was actors walking around, and my children loved interacting with them and having a laugh. This place isn't just educational but fun too! Fantastic value for money as it includes free return. The gift shop is reasonable. My children were able to spend their pocket money to buy marbles for exmaple.

We made a special trip to the Black Country Living Museum whilst having a few days away in the area. It was a fabulous day out, and we all enjoyed the experience of what it was like living in the past in this area of the country. Highlights included having a school lesson, travelling on the old bus, going down the mine, going to the old cinema and having fish and chips for lunch! There are lots of little houses and shops to pop in to and nose about, in some you will come across people 'in character' and you can ask questions or just chat. In some of the shops you can buy things (mostly food / drink / toys). There are plenty of facilities if needed, and also a larger cafe area back at the main entrance if you need a drink or something before you start or before you leave. We almost missed it, but don't miss out on popping into the garage area which is located out the front of the museum (before you go through ticket area). If you visit, plan to be there a full day, which you can easily achieve in all honesty - we got there about 15 mins after opening and stayed up until about 30 mins before closing! There are some signs when you enter telling you times of particular things you may want to visit (demonstrations or talks etc.) We had a wonderful day, and don't forget to get a parking token from the machine if parked in the museum car park. I sort of felt we should have been given this as part of our entrance fee, but at least I assume the money gets invested back in the museum!

We visited on a Sunday and bought our tickets in advance. There was plenty of space in the car park and no queue to enter. The museum is fantastic. There is so much to see and a great variety of houses, workshops and shops, as well as a couple of pubs, school and church, you can even take a tour of a coal mine! The staff/volunteers really bring it all to life and were friendly and very knowledgeable. George at the mine was particularly brilliant! There is also a wide range of food and drink available. We had a great day and at a very reasonable price too!

Traveled from Essex especially for the museum and it didn’t disappoint!! So much to see, people wandering in costumes of the periods, we had some great chats with the staff and volunteers learned a lot even at my age! Even spotted a few items from my childhood, toys, bedding, nicknacks so worth the visit. We also rode the boat into the tunnels and that was fascinating to, very reasonable priced we booked the first ticket in at 10 and left when it closed at 4.

We went to the Halloween Nights evening and it was amazing we had a lovely time in the mines on the guided tour and trick or treating in the many locations. We saw wild animals in the school including African sea snails and owls and watched the fire show near the canal and the funfair. Generally a good night overall. We were a family of five. Also new and improved larger gift shop

(Translated by Google) This place is a total misunderstanding! It looks more like an open-air museum than a museum, there are few exhibits, there were three actors simulating the hardships of everyday life for the entire museum (two vendors and a policeman). The famous fries (chips - 2.70) taste reasonably good right after opening the facility, but two hours later they hardly have the characteristic aftertaste. Parking by the accommodation facility for an additional fee (3.50). Bottom line - if you don't have any or minimum visiting requirements then this place is for you. However, if you've heard about how great this place is and have certain expectations, change your plans and spend your money in a better way. As for the price list of this museum, the price of two pounds per person seems fair. If you want to make money, you should give something back, and not just rely on advertising. I'll say it again - I strongly advise against it. Powiem to raz jeszcze - zdecydowanie odradzam.

We loved our day out here. We loved exploring the old houses, shops and chatting with the men and women. My 6 year old daughter was chatting to them about petrol stations and how they were different for about 10 minutes, how do they do it? We were enthralled by watching the nail maker doing their work. Very comical staff and knowledgeable too. From babies in pushchairs who will happily run free across the streets, to young children like mine who loved being in Victorian school, to. Teenagers buying old sweets and lounging in the park, to adults who can read all the information, to older couples who can relax with some fish and chips. We stayed 5 1/2 hours, it was the hottest day of the year so we sat down lots and had a long lunch in the park listening to 40/50's music relaxing on deck chairs as the children played in the park but even then we missed the coal mine and didn't get too watch a movie. With our free return ticket and maybe pay for a additional boat ride. Considering Covid they had pre-bookable timed entry, one way systems throughout the museum, limited numbers inside, such a 4 household groups in the car museum, 1 household group in the houses / shops, 30 per school class. The only downside of the day was my kids were upset they couldn't actually get in a car. There was handgel everywhere and markers to keep distancing when queuing for chips with collection round the other side, being mainly outdoors with limited numbers you felt safe. Apparently it can also be exceedingly busy so I suppose it was a additional benefit.

Buy your admission ticket and it is valid for 12 months to use as often as you like. Talk about value for money. We went on the canal boat for a trip through old mine tunnels into caverns. Had to pay separately for this but again the ticket is valid for 12 months. We'll worth it.l

Really great living museum, gives a fascinating insight into the integral part the Black Country played in the industrial revolution. Also an essential visit for any Peaky Blinders fan. Worth noting that at the moment very significant building development works are in progress so the mine tour is closed. Be sure to take the Dudley Canal trust boat trip, it's an extra cost part of the BCLM but it's a breathtaking canal trip.

It really is a living experience where you can get right into the history and appreciate what life must have been like. I was not sure with whether my children of different ages would appreciate the museum or not. I need not have worried as the museum caters for all ages. My children could not stop talking about the place for weeks after. If you like Fish and Chips then I recommend trying the ones on sight. It is a treat in itself!

The latest of the several visits I have made to this wonderful museum. This latest visit we particularly enjoyed the little bit of street theatre involving the grocer and an irate customer complaining about the quality of his vegetables. There was a comedic action when he threw a sprout in her direction. Love the accent. Watching the chain and nail makers is always fascinating. Gift-aiding your entry fee and getting unlimited entry for a year represents outstanding value for money.

Great 4 hours spent at the museum today. Really enjoyed the gas show and also the school class. Staff are really engaging and knowledgeable. Look forward to going back later this summer when the mines are open and the new town hall. Fish and chips were bostin

Brilliant museum! Pay for tour tickets and you get to return all year too! Very clean and easy to find your way around. The actors/ actresses really do make the visit that much more special! Only advice I'd give is if your vegetarian bring your own food, The chip shop sells chips cooked in beef dripping and there's quite a wait for any in veg friendly oil (The staff where more than willing to do them though!) Can't wait to return, As a huge peaky blinders fan it was well worth it!!

What an amazing place, gives a great insight of life up to the 1930’s. Buildings are set out to demonstrate what life was like, these include houses, shops, cinema and a couple of pubs along with industrial sections and the coal mine. Cafe and old style chip shop on site ( chips were fantastic). Demonstrations from blacksmiths which was informative and other staff around the site all very knowledgeable. There is currently a 1940’s to 1960’s section being constructed so a return visit will be required. The bonus with the entry price is it is valid for 12 months as an annual pass. There is also plenty of seating areas to sit and take everything in, or a bus tour. On site parking, a parking charge is in place. A token has to be purchased at the visitor centre. A gift shop is also located in the visitor centre. Highly recommend a visit.

Impressive layout with a great atmosphere-such a large space being filled with a complete town, makes you feel as if you are walking back in time. It was great seeing the children playing in the street using traditional games-skipping and hoops, for example. If possible go on a tour as it brings the site to life as there aren’t a lot of information boards leaving it to staff to explain the period of the exhibit and details to expand understanding. Many staff were thoroughly immersed in their roles however one or two were not. It was great to be able to purchase things from the shops (however not at old prices!!) sweets/cakes/biscuits /fish and chips as well as being able to go into the pub and workers institute. As previously mentioned more information would be really interesting and make it less like a film set. Really good value and great that you can return as often as you wish within the year.

Absolutely love the Black Country Museum. My 10 year old granddaughter loves it. Amazing to see how we, our parents and grandparents lived. We have an annual pass now so are regular visitors. Already planning our next visit for 1940`s weekend.

First time for ages. Went to see the new row of shops and pub. Had the famous fish and chips for lunch and a pint of bitter at the Bottle and Glass to follow. Sat in the park with an ever changing kaleidoscope of school parties for amusement. A great day. Don't forget, ticket once purchased, you can enter on any standard day for a year 👍😎

We had a great day exploring the village. So much to see and do and it really feels like you've stepped back in time. The mine tour was a great suprise as was the fish and chips. Particular mention to both Trevor and Alan in the trap shop who were fantastic story tellers and a highlight of our trip.

1st visit for myself in maybe 30 years, 1st time for my wife and family. Car park is easily accessible and a few minutes walk to the museum. (£3.50) We paid online before going, but tickets are available as you enter. Museum is a great place to spend the day exploring. My kids loved it, exploring different shops and houses and talking to the staff, all that are equally great! (Special mention to Richard, the musician and the lady in the butchers) My wife and I were excited to do the boat dock tour but unfortunately found it a little boring. The series "Peaky Blinders" had been filmed there, but there was no mention or reference other than a box on the dock. I understand that it's a living museum, but a quick mention during the dock tour would have been great. I feel that a covered eating area for museum users that bring their own food would be appreciated and well used. We had rain all day and ended up hiding out under the entrance/visitors centre. We decided to head back towards the exit and shop at 4pm, stopping off at the mine tour as it was busy in the morning when we arrived. We were extremely disappointed to find that it was closed even though the museum closes at 5pm? Despite having terrible weather, we had a good day and will definitely be returning. My kids were upset not to do the mine tour, but it's a good excuse to return! ( all tickets have a year's free entry)

Went to the new cafe for the first time and got to say I am really impressed with it all. Prices are good, food and drink are also to a high standard along with the nice and spacy feel to the place makes it worthwhile to drop by. The cafe overlooks the museums northern end and makes a nice viewpoint as well as bringing more folks up to the often ignored northern area where the vehicle museum is located along with the bus terminus. Well thought out, planned and delivered it is winner for me and I will definately be going back.

Those who work here have really gone above and beyond. It was everything I expected and more! SO much to explore and so many things to find and learn about, loved heading down all the little nooks and crannies to make sure I visited every inch of this place. Attention to detail is amazing and the staff/actors play their roles fantastically. I cannot wait to come back when the new parts have opened!!

Lovely day out, thoroughly enjoyed the mining experience well worth a visit! Unfortunately, I did feel a bit let down by food and drinks. I was hoping for an authentic back in time food experience, but it was all pretty standard. Unpopular opinion, but the fish and chips are not worth it. The museum itself is brilliant, I'd highly recommend bringing a picnic, especially if you plan to spend most of the day, which we did.

Excellent place to visit you even get a free year pass to return again. Great place to take this kids, great for adults to see the history of the black country, they have loads of new buildings and was getting ready to open the new high street, they have 2 pubs now both serving real ales, the chippy is still there serving traditional fish and chips, the sweet shop and cake shop are open, the cinema showed a laurel and hardy film, plenty of demonstrations going on, the staff are extremely friendly we spent half hour chatting to a man in a cottage and then after the school lesson we stayed behind with Mr Griffiths and had a lovely chat the travelling salesman had a chat with us on a bench, the pig had just had babies when we went a few weeks ago it's definitely worth a visit go back in time for a great experience. The canal tunnels are also open but you pay extra to go on the canal barge through the tunnels
