We love it here. The house is peaceful and has a great energy. The gardens are so lovely and varied with such a variety of species and colours. The food in the cafe is great and there are a good selection of gluten free cakes. The coffee was delicious and dairy free milks were available.

My first visit here one can only say stunning. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to in my life. I have taken many photographs for you to enjoy. If you live anywhere near Birmingham please do not hesitate to visit this magnificent house and garden. The house and gardens, restaurant and all other areas are wheelchair friendly. A truly memorable day. They also have a restaurant which is reasonably priced, with a great selection of cakes and biscuits, soft drinks and coffee. One comment I would make, I think for someone to have to pay £6.20 for a child over five is not acceptable, only £1 reduction. £1 reduction for pensioners. I also noticed the yearly membership for £32 they do not have any concessions on this, I really do believe you need to look at these prices.

Winterbourne Gardens is a nature and botanical garden that is open to the public to view and enjoy a lovely time with nature. It is free access for students of University of Birmingham who can show their ID. There are several attractions on site; the gardens where you can have tea, a tea and coffee shop, different gardens with several plants and flowers, trees and leaves, a bookshop and souvenir shop where you can get items to take home with you. Very beautiful and there are several picture worthy places all around. So much to say but you gotta check it out yourself to know the feel. Definitely going again 😍

I always enjoy visiting this place. The garden is a wonderful place to explore. It varies from a beautiful walled garden to a woodland walk with views of Edgbaston Reservoir. The house is also an interesting place to visit. The rooms are displayed very well and shows the history of the house Also worthwhile to look at the printing press room where demonstrations are given on some days. The gift shop sells good quality items and the café has a selection of light meals available.

Surprisingly located right in the middle of the city near University of Birmingham, Winterborne House and Garden is a very pretty and well maintained place to visit. It also has a cafe/restaurant, shop and couple of museums within it's premises along with the beautiful gardens, of course. The gardens are efficiently maintained and very cleverly designed to have different sections to please the visitors. It also has access to the Edgbaston Pool which is beautiful. It is hard to believe it exists in the city and one feels like being in the countryside. Well worth a visit if you are in Birmingham.

Lovely house with some really good things to view. The history is brought to life by the displays, so well done. The gardens are good and well worth a walk around. Also they have a fantastic tea room with a great selection of snacks.

I went to Winterbourne with a friend who is a member so she can take a guest in for each visit. As it was very warm, we did not look around the house but made our way straight out onto the gorgeous terrace. There are different habitats to explore as well as the greenhouses and there is access to a lake that backs onto Edgbaston Golf Club. On such a hot day, it was lovely to sit looking over the lake, watching the water birds including some young coots. I plan to revisit at another time of year to see how the garden has changed.

A real gem right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of Birmingham. So peaceful it's a real hideaway. Plenty of parking. Easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Paths are well maintained. A lovely tearoom for lunch and tea/coffee. Absolutely recommend visiting and revisiting!

We had a lovely day here. Excellent coffee and cake in the very well stocked tea-room. Viewing the gardens, the woodland and the Chinese garden. The house is magnificent. Would like to return to see the GKN section completed. Used our Historic Houses cards to get in. The weather was kind.

This is an excellent place to spend a peaceful day with lots of flowers nature and balance. There are enough routes to do some trekking especially there is a behind door to the golf club where you can enjoy the nature, nice scents of plants, flowers and trees around. Absolutely detaching you from the burdens of life and brings you to a calm and silent mood. Outside of the house and inside there are sitting places where you can enjoy your English tea with deserts if you want. You can also purchase flowers and plants here.

Such beautiful place to visit. I think this may have been the first time that we visited in summer. It's beautiful to see so much life in the garden. On this occasion, we attended the Rare Flower event. It was wonderful. Acessibilty wise the garden is good there is some loose gravel so if your in a wheelchair you may have some issues. There is a lift in the house. Toilets located in the house and outside by the exits. The food was great absolutely delicious and fresh. A great place to take the family out or just as an adult trip to a hidden gem.

What an amazing place. Easily accessible by bus from Birmingham city centre. Beautiful gardens with stunning house to look around as well. All the staff were very friendly. Lots of benches scattered around so you can take a seat and enjoy the view while having a picnic.

A wonderful place to go on a fine sunny day for a walk through a historic garden. The pictures are from winter, so expect the garden to be a lot more colorful during the summer. But nonetheless, even in winter I had a brilliant time going through the history of the house and exploring the beauty of the garden. There is also a small tearoom to enjoy an afternoon tea while overlooking the gorgeous Winterbourne garden.

Love this place so much I became a member. Beautiful place and such good value to visit and the food is great. Kitchen staff were willing to juggle my meal for me so I could have something suitable for my intolerances. The garden is amazing - full of such variations that make each visit a treat and full of discovery as things move on with the seasons. Lovely staff and a great shop and second hand book shop. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous, beautiful place to visit - especially in late Spring when all the flowers are in bloom - but stunning in Autumn too with all its acer trees. A coffee on the terrace is more than a little bit blissful. Make time to look round the house too, with its really evocative collection of Arts & Craft furniture and decorations. A must-do thing in Birmingham for anyone who enjoys history, horticulture or art & design. Kids enjoyed the little fairy door trail too.

Had an afternoon tea there but the scone is not a fresh one and the tea is just one with tea bag so I wouldn't recommend. But the garden is really nice. I love the vibe. The garden is nicely designed and taken care of. You can spend an afternoon sitting there reading or just sunbathing. UOB students can enter without entrance fee!

Visited today for the first time. The garden is beautiful, as is the house. The flower displays are stunning and diverse. Whilst there we sat outside the cafe, overlooking the gardens enjoying the homemade soup. Really lovely place to visit and I definately recommend to anyone who enjoys gardens and plants.

Beautiful house and garden, an oasis in the city. The advertised demonstration in the print show was non existent. The cafe, however, seems to be trying to convert visitors to a vegan/gluten free diet, all sandwiches except "ham on white" were vegan and nearly all cakes were gluten free. Less than 2% of the population follow a vegan lifestyle so why not cater for the 98% who aren't. I've been once so I have no need to go again.

Amazing woodland, garden and the house itself was remarkable. All the bonsai trees looked amazing and well looked after. Loved the art exhibition upstairs! I chose to have the soup of the day (it was carrot and coriander - recommended by one of the lovely gentleman in the kitchen who worked there), so I gave it a try and it was very delicious. The scone was very tasty too, and soft. All in all, it was an excellent and quick service along with great food.

A fabulous place in all seasons. Spring: First life; Summer: lush greeneries and blooming flowers; Autumn: omnipresent flamboyant colours; Winter: branches, decay, and perhaps snow.

Nestled away on the campus of the University of Birmingham, the Winterbourne House & Garden is a lovely half-day to a full-day out. Admission is free to staff and students at the university. The grounds are extensive and beautiful with plaques/signs to keep you informed. The house features exhibitions, objects and information about the site's history. There is a small café restaurant with vegan options available, with indoor and outdoor terrace dining options. The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The gift shop has some lovely gems and there is also a large second-hand bookstore. Parking is rather limited. A lovely place to get away from the hustle & bustle and walk in nature.

Really interesting place, a lot of history in the house to see and the garden is beautiful! We did a few rounds around the garden, seeing the different plants was really educational (some I had never seen in my life!).

Had a lovely time wandering around the house and gardens. The house is fabulous, with William Morris wallpaper everywhere, and detailed history of the house displayed around. However, the stand out feature is definitely the gardens. There are seven acres total, including a wonderful large pond at the bottom and really fantastic glass houses with wonderful plants.

Was very impressed with the organisation of a very busy day - with a bee event included. Such a nice atmosphere for all. Efficient tea room, nice staff. Absolutely nice garden - a great variety of looked after plants & species, with volunteers answering questions. House & info super. All in all a lovely day. Thank you

Quite nice garden on the Birmingham University campus. Limited parking. A nice walk but needs some attention as most borders had significant weeds in. Will need to revisit in the summer to see the difference then. The Tea room was good, and staff friendly, limited menu unless you like salad and coleslaw, but plenty of vegetarian options.

  • 5/5 Sheila J. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful house, decorated in William Morris style with plenty of information about the previous occupants. The gardens are a delight, even in soggy weather! There is a lift between floors, excellent toilet facilities and a very good cafe.

Really lovely visit here with 3 generations of family, 18-80. Lovely walk through the gardens and house for an hour, very relaxing. Great coffees and pastry from the Cafe. Will be coming back in the next 6 months on the same ticket. Brilliant idea.

I have visited this place today and it seemed so out of place just a mile or so from the center of Birmingham, but so lovely and tranquil. Great talk from the guide there. 7 acres of garden with a massive range of plants to wander around in. Good little cafe and an exhibition about the former owners of the house. You don't have to love plants, like me, to go there, heartily recommend this place for anyone!

  • 4/5 Holly S. 9 months ago on Google
Lovely house and garden with an interesting history. The garden is lovely with plenty of benches dotted around. The tearoom is more of a cafe with how plain it is and how basic the food on offer is.

  • 5/5 Salma 9 months ago on Google
Beautiful house and gorgeous gardens! Nice variety of garden styles, and I love that there’s no particular track or order to explore them Make sure to leave time for the used bookstore at the end!

Winterbourne House and Garden's is a wonderful place to go. Amazing plants, greenhouses and a stream area. Good for short walks, sitting and chatting and takin the kids. The house itself is quite interesting too. The café on site has great vegan options, vegan cakes and sandwiches and lovely tea. Overall would recommend to go.

  • 5/5 Rowan W. 6 months ago on Google
Gorgeous house and wonderful gardens when in the rain! The house is full of history and a small but interesting art gallery with lots of insights into the family that once lived there. The gardens have several different sections with many beautiful and established trees and gorgeous flowers. The stepping stone pond was so pretty and such good fun to hop around, and the wetland walk was really lovely too. We were lucky enough to see the print works and get a lesson in how the old fashioned printing techniques are still being used today! Absolutely worth a visit if you're in the area. Oh and don't forget the afternoon tea it's fantastic and bring pocket money for the gift shop, you'll thank yourself!

Nice location, lovely gardens even at the end of the season. Lots of birds in the lake. Greenhouses are interresting. House is good. Early 1900 not many houses about representing that time. The restaurant serves good food, lovely cakes. I stayed longer here than I would normaly do. It is part of the university, so you will run into people from all over the globe. Not much parking spots, be aware.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful mansion with beautifully manicured gardens that are enjoyable to explore. The history of the last inhabitants is interesting to understand the dynamics of life in this industrial town. There is a must-see Tea Room in the luxury tea reservation at the Winterbourne home. Absolutely beautiful house and gardens - the tea is so delicious because I only saw some of them! Really good value for money, two 3-tier cake stands with homemade sandwiches, seasonal pies, buns, and small cakes. Choice of tea or coffee and really friendly staff. Already booked to go again. Enjoyed a lovely couple of hours wandering the gardens during the current lockdown. Great landscaping and features. Will definitely return when more plants are in bloom

  • 5/5 Aimee S. 3 years ago on Google
Such a beautiful, "secret" garden right in the middle of Birmingham. Staff were well prepared with plenty of distancing and hygiene measures in place. The staff were also very welcoming. GREAT cake selection in the cafe, including vegan options. The gardens are gorgeous, especially right now with all of the autumn colours being so vibrant. I particularly liked the maples. The arid house is fascinating, as are the signs around the property which tell you about it's history. We also got a free return ticket which is valid until the end of the year. Hopefully the house will be back open by then too, but it's still excellent value for a ticket even without seeing inside the house itself.

Only went once in 2008 so memory a bit hazy. But would be nice to go again after lockdown ends. Spring or summer would be best.

  • 5/5 Ceri F. 3 years ago on Google
Lovely period house with amazing, colourful gardens, displaying an array of plants and trees, from a variety of tropical ones in the greenhouses, to the more traditional ones in the walled gardens. Then there's the many other varieties in the rest of the many lawned gardens on various levels. It also has a very relaxing outdoor terrace at the back of the building, where you can sit and enjoy a drink and food, overlooking the immediate grounds, while soaking in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. There's a little gift shop and bookshop on site too to browse around. Definitely worth the trip and day out there

  • 5/5 Clare C. 3 years ago on Google
Hidden gem in the middle of busy Birmingham, arts and craft house and beautiful sunken gardens. Is it that or the access to the edgbaston reservoir which makes this my favourite garden visit? I'll have to go again to help me decide.

  • 5/5 Jimmy Y. 3 years ago on Google
Such beautiful grounds, with an atmospheric calmness & serenity about them. From tunnels & bogs, to high trees, bridges & meadows. Walking amongst these grounds is a pleasure to behold & to take in the wondrous sights of the old house & its history. Do take time to look at the carnivorous plants, for they are amazing.

A something for everyone garden, I have been visiting for past 20 years, my kids have rolled on the grass, and we have accidentally dipped our feet into the water at the stepping stone. The glasshouses have been a welcome rest spot Each season brings amazing colour, and this autumn is no exception, glorious riot of oranges. yellows, pinks and red from leaves. Mushrooms looking good too! Keep up the great work everyone!

Restored to its Edwardian Arts and Craft splendour, Winterbourne House is a unique heritage attraction, set within seven acres of beautiful botanic gardens. Home to beautiful antiques and over 6,000 plant species from around the world. Wander along the woodland walk, stroll through the hazelnut tunnel, cross the 1930’s Japanese Bridge or simply soak up the tranquillity of this perfectly English Edwardian home.

Big competition for the city's Botanical Garden. Plenty of special corners in the gardens - from the Japanese garden (in which, indeed, I'd like to see more maples to bring fire to the autumns!), to the cacti garden - all little, sparky gems... And then, the green spaces, inviting you to a lazy afternoon (if the sun is out!). it helps if you work at the university - and then your entry is free!!!
