We visited Hanbury Hall on a Friday afternoon during gorgeous sunny weather. I had a free day pass for National Trust from In Your Area and decided to visit Hanbury Hall as it’s local and we’d never been. It’s simple to find with plenty of signage and with ample parking. I thought the visit would comprise of the hall and gardens, so I figured it would be something nice to do for a couple of hours, but there’s so much more. When we arrived, one of the tours had just started. We would listen in and out of the tour guide talking given that we hall an active toddler so moved through the house at our own pace. There were a number of crochet bees hidden in different rooms and I thoroughly enjoyed looking out for them. After we finished at the hall, the exit takes you to a courtyard space with a tearoom. We grabbed a couple of cakes and a kids sandwich for the little one. They do a kids lunchbox (5 items for £5.25) which I think is a good price given where we were. We found a table outside to enjoy the nice weather in the shade but there is also indoor seating available. There’s a lovely play area which was a bit big for my 21 month old but he still enjoyed himself, plus 3 walks of varying lengths, going through the grounds. We chose the shortest one at 1.2km given how hot and sunny it was. Coming back to the house, we visited the gardens, where there was a lovely bookshop, an orangery, a mushroom house plus more open space to explore. Unfortunately, it was getting too hot so whilst we’d had a good walk about, we didn’t complete everything. The price is normally £14 per adult and my little one was free.

Lovely place, the house is quite nice and interesting rooms, the grounds are lovely and there are a few walks around the grounds, all are easy walks for all the family, the longest marked route is just over 2 miles and takes about 40 mins or so. You can follow some off route trails onto public footpaths that are lovely. There's a beautiful pond with lots of wildlife, the whole place is alive with wildlife and the ducks run around your feet outside the cafe. Overall a really nice morning.

Great time at Hanbury Hall seeing their 70s and 80s Christmas nostalgia. It was busy but there is plenty of space. The gardens are great even at this time of the year. Excellent walks. Loads of parking and it's free to park.

Hanbury Hall, constructed of brick, presents an impressive facade while exhibiting a disordered aspect from its rear vantage point. Within the estate grounds, two adjacent cafes cater for visitors. Additionally, during the summer months, it looked as though a mobile trailer would offer refreshments such as ice cream and coffee. Originally there were formal gardens, but these were later transformed into Capability Brown style parklands. Now, those original formal gardens have been faithfully recreated by the NT and complement the relaxed later gardens, with orangery, orchards, and walled garden. The estate also still encompasses expansive parkland, offering many walks. The reconstruction of the original gardens was helped by a painting commissioned by the original owner, Thomas Vernon. The painting prominently features Vernon himself overlooking the estate from a high point. It could be thought of as an "18th-century photoshop" creation, because there is no miniature hill overlooking the estate Within the main hall, a striking staircase adorned with wall murals by the English painter Sir James Thornhill commands attention. Paintings in other rooms, have concealed symbolism; for instance, a portrait featuring a greyhound flanked by two young brothers carries historical significance. We visited during January, the primary cafe had a somewhat limited menu comprising sandwiches, jacket potatoes plus a few vegetarian options, with my personal selection being red dal. Anticipating a broader array of offerings on the menus, a return visit is certainly warranted also to more fully appreciate the splendour of Hanbury Hall, particularly amidst the lush backdrop of trees, formal gardens, and orchards.

Due to its expansive countryside, kids play area and usual National Trust café facilities, it can get very busy at the weekend, especially if the weather is good. Booking in advance is usually recommended. If you can get here just before opening, you will have the house to yourself. You can easily pass a few hours with a visit to the house and garden. There are three clearly marked walking routes through the surrounding countryside. So long as the weather is good, you'll be fine in regular footwear.

A relatively small building with some rooms closed. But none the worse for that. Those areas open are well worth a visit. The entrance hall is spectacular . The murals on the walls up the stairs to the left are astonishing. Three years in the making, they depict the myth of Achilles. They are to be marvelled at. Throughout the house one finds wonderful furniture, paintings, ceramics, textiles, and much much more The staff are informed and helpful. I have visited many NT houses and have to say this is one of the most interesting. Could not visit the gardens owing to the curse of the British March weather but they looked well worth a visit, weather permitting. A new cafe is in the process of being built, April opening. There is also a park walk. Information boards in each room. Not as extensive as the pre-covid literature but containing essential information. Do ask about the painting of two girls in the room to the right of the entrance hall. It is not what it seems to be!

A real treasure of a house. Beautifully furnished and decorated in Baroque style. Wonderful staff with complete knowledge of this unique property. Gardens are a dream and walks to enjoy for all.

Such a lovely house, it's one of the quietest national trust places I have ever been too. Main restaurant was closed due to work being done on it, but the cafe was one. Lovely cakes, the best shortbread I ha e ever eaten from them. Gardens where lovely, got some good photos of butterflies there.

Used my free ticket to visit here. Beautiful building - and fabulous wall paintings in the hall and stairs inside. Enjoyed wandering around the rooms examining the furniture, ceramics and paintings, plus reading the informative signs. Could have spent longer outside in the gardens and parkland but it was a lot colder than I expected despite the sunshine. The yew hedges were wonderfully clipped with razor sharp edges and corners so hats off to the gardeners. Had lunch in the new courtyard restaurant - baked potato with cheese - could have done with some butter and twice as much cheese as only had a tablespoon! The homemade slaw was good. Had lemon drizzle as pudding - not bad!

Arrived first thing on a frosty morning so was quiet and picturesque. A good length walk around the parkland, would have been very muddy if it wasn't for the frost. Staff very friendly and welcoming in the reception area and the hall. Enjoyed a sausage roll and a brownie in the cafe. A lot of the gardens closed off for the winter but just gives us an excuse to come back in the summer! The walk to St Mary church is worth the walk up the hill as it has lots of links to the hall and great views too.

One of mine and my husband's favourite national trust places to visit. Friendly staff and the house is just beautiful from top to bottom. Many walks to go around too including good dog walks! We visit this place as much as we can. Highly recommend to visit. Fun for all the family (yes this includes doggies too!)

Medium sized country hall. Furnished and well kept. Plenty of guides. Story of family on various boards. Formal gardens and extensive park with waymarked trails. Muddy now. Cafe and restaurant.

Lovely house and gardens and would love to go back in summer. Lots of grounds for walking. The wall painting is breathtaking inside and the grandeur of the house is visible from the outside.

Beautiful house and gardens, absolutely stunning views. There is an entry fee, however being a National Trust member entry was free. There is a good size car park on site. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lots to see inside the house both ground level and first floor. Gardens are well maintained with lots of bits to explore, there are additional walks which are marked on a handy map that is given on entry. Cafe and toilets on site. I always find the cafes a little pricey at these places and gluten free options although available are very limited. I would advise take a picnic instead. Definitely worth a visit and will make a return trip.

I'm a regular , repeat visitor , in all seasons . I love the journey there down the surrounding country lanes . The new cafe is light and airy , and if you can't get a seat , there are more inside the old building. Their Cream tea is a favourite. Great walks to be enjoyed on the Estate.

Really enjoyed the imaginative 70s/80s themed Christmas displays and had a babysham from the bar!! The house has been kept in great condition, and from what I saw of the grounds they looked well cared for too.. but it was a little too damp to explore them all. Two cafes on site.. just missed a NT shop!

  • 5/5 Paul H. 2 years ago on Google
On this visit, I did not go into the actual house but spent a most enjoyable afternoon walking around the gardens. These are very well maintained and will certainly try to make a return visit later in the season so that I can view the large vegetable garden. A new café is due to open later in the year but there is a temporary one situated in the old stable block. It offers a slightly reduced range of items but nevertheless it is still worth going to and enjoy a hot or cold drink and light snack. The staff running it were most helpful as were all of the staff and volunteers that I came across were.

Another lovely National Trust site. The house is nice, but I thought the gardens and grounds were the highlight. The flowers were beautiful! Parking was easy to find and getting through the entrance didn't take too long. The staff were friendly. It was a bit crowded when we were there, but that's to be expected on a sunny Sunday in April!

Pleasent National Trust property in idyllic surroundings. A nice little cafe with sandwiches, cakes and ice creams. House tours are short but worth a quick view. Gardens extensive with some extended walks through the parkland if you like. Nice second hand book shop.

This is a lovely national trust to visit, the gardens are beautiful, there's a few different walks you can follow with different lengths, they have revamped the children's play area which is lovely, my son loves playing on it, the house is really nice to look around how ever occasionally the upstairs is closed due to staff shortages. There's a lovely bowling green with equipment supplied which is really nice to take part on, during and towards the end of summer they have fruit/vegetables and flowers available for a donation. There is also plenty of parking here, with a short walk to the house, the main cafe is under renovations however there is still a small cafe available to purchase drinks and some food

Went just after Christmas weekend. Great place to spend couple hours with kids. Nice grounds. I really liked the 80's and 90's theme decor for Christmas inside the different rooms of the main residence. Nice bit of fun and took me back a few years. It was nice showing kids what games and toys were around before modern gadgets.

Beautiful house and gardens. The cafe area is undergoing refurbishment to extend the facilities. We enjoyed visiting the house, and the volunteers are so friendly and knowledgeable. My husband uses a mobility scooter, and he was allowed to use it on the ground floor. The main staircase is wide, and the stairs are not too steep, so he could access the bedrooms without too much trouble. Unfortunately the heavens opened while we were enjoying a cuppa. After 30 minutes it stopped, but the paths were then too boggy for his scooter. So we have to come back to go round the gardens! Can't wait!

One of our favourite National Trust Properties. This is our 2nd visit. Great walks, lovely house and fantastic well kept gardens. There's also lots of space to run around, and plenty of places to stop and have a picnic in great surroundings. For the young ones, there's also a fairly new (natural wood) playground. Also, if you fancy a game of bowls, balls are made available in the hut next to the green. A nice little surprise and great fun.

A very nice place, some of the interpretation didn't match what was in the rooms. There seems to be a lot of ongoing changes which will make the visitor experience a lot better. Will have to come back to see them. The gardens were very well kept.

Wonderful place! Really nice inside of the house, very well preserved and taken care of. Staff are lovely and have lots of stories to tell. The grounds are huge, different length walks to choose from, nice gardens to have a picnic on or run around. Lovely cafe with lots of seating outside and inside, delicious scones! Really nice day out, can easily spend full day here.

A lovely National Trust property that belonged to Thomas Vernon MP. Apparently The National Trust only agreed to take on the property due to the paintings on the wall and ceiling as you enter the property. It's a lovely house with some interesting artifacts and I would definitely recommend a visit. The gardens are lovely, make sure you don't miss the orangery and the mushroom house

  • 4/5 Runner U. 10 months ago on Google
Lovely house and beautiful grounds. Cafe is small but has drinks and snacks and plenty of outdoor seating. In good weather there are also a lot of locations to picnic. The Hall is currently having a bit of building work done to open a new wing, new cafe and new courtyard so this will be interesting when open. Places like this are precious so it's hard to grumble about the entry fee but I'd highly recommend getting a National Trust pass as it saves a fortune.

Hanbury Hall is a beautiful National Trust property located in Worcestershire, England. The house and gardens are stunning, and there is plenty to see and do for all ages. The house is a Georgian manor that was built in the early 18th century. It is full of original features, including beautiful wall paintings, intricate plasterwork, and a grand staircase. The gardens are equally impressive, with formal lawns, a walled garden, and an arboretum. Hanbury Hall is a great place for children to visit. There is a playground, a nature trail, and a number of events throughout the year. The gardens are also perfect for a picnic, and there are plenty of places to sit and relax. If you are looking for a beautiful and family-friendly place to visit, I highly recommend Hanbury Hall. It is a great place to spend a day exploring, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. Here are some specific things that you can do at Hanbury Hall: * Visit the house and see the original wall paintings, plasterwork, and staircase. * Explore the gardens, including the formal lawns, walled garden, and arboretum. * Take a walk on the nature trail. * Play on the playground. * Have a picnic in the gardens. * Attend one of the many events that are held throughout the year. Hanbury Hall is a great place to learn about history, nature, and the arts. It is also a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. I highly recommend visiting Hanbury Hall if you are looking for a beautiful and family-friendly day out.

I've visited Hanbury Hall on several occasions in the past and have enjoyed each visit. I last called in on Tuesday 8th of August and the weather was foul - I'm being polite here. I'd love to have looked around the newly restored and planted parterre garden but the constant rain cancelled that out. However, they look stunning from within the Hall. Minor quibble; the brand spanking new tea room had opened on the same day with very limited seating inside, but plenty of seating available outside, in the aforementioned rain. I know that the weather is uncontrollable but there was plenty of room inside to install a few more impromptu tables, surely? Consequently the indoor tea room was swamped with patrons trying to keep dry. A minor quibble though. I'll be returning when the weather improves, certainly.

Beautiful gardens. You can nature. Great for picnics. You can play games in the fields. There were people playing. There are picnic benches too if you don’t want to sit on the floor. Plenty of car park spaces. It’s one way entrance system. So many fruits trees.

Wow, what an amazing place! The house has lots of information around it, and they also had a seasonal display in the history of Halloween and bonfire night upstairs. The gardens are large and hard to find your way around. The kitchen garden was in the walled garden. The cafe was busy but still got quick service. It also had some delicious cakes!

Lovely national trust site, with beautiful gardens, orchard, grounds. Sheep, chicken, deer. We went on a sunny Sunday afternoon, and never made it to the house. We'll be back for that sometime soon. The cafe was a nice modern addition to the site. Free parking.

    - Beautiful place to visit. - Friendly staff - Social distancing was great! - Hand gel available - One toilet open on the carpark and more toilets by the cafe area (which have disabled and baby changing facilities) - Great tasting ice-cream available from 12.30 - 4pm from the Ice-cream shop in the middle of the go stunning building. - Seating areas available with umbrellas. - They have got wasp deterrents near the seating areas - Pram and wheelchair accessible (there is one place with about 4 steps by the Orangery) - Gravel paths around the buildings - Lovely ducks to feed and chickens to see. - Scenery is breathtaking! - Didn't make it to the church as we have 3 children 4 years and under and they couldn't walk much further without being carried. Will visit again to see this. - We didn't buy anything from the cafe this time as we took a picnic, which we had near to the Orangery, this was so serene, with the beautiful countryside and the sound of the wind through apple and pear trees.

Lovely grounds to take a long walk around. The gardens next to the house were beautiful and well kept. Shame the house was not open but still worth the visit for a relaxing time & a drink with a bite to eat from the stable cafe

A great place to walk around the grounds during these times. National Trust work the system well giving you slots for your arrival, asking that social distance is maintained and indicating a one way system in order to lessen contact between visitors. The open grounds are generous allowing for a goid walk but nothing too strenuous. Toilets are available at two locations and take away food and drink can be purchased. You will need to book your slot if course before visiting. ?

We went to Hanbury hall July 2020. Even though the Pandemic is going on at this time. We knew the hall and main restaurant Would be shut. But overall we were very disappointed. It seemed very unloved hardly any plants. But that might have been to do with no staff and availability of plants during April and May. Hardly any tables outside in court yard and generally very bare.

First visit and on a cold damp winters day the gardens were not looking there best. However it is obvious that on a day with better weather and post spring everything would be looking much better. The house itself is an interesting place to wander around and the National Trust volunteers are only to happy to provide historic colour to the surroundings. If you are already National Trust members it is a great visit in spring or summer and if you are local and wrapped up even in autumn and winter there is a couple of hours of enjoyment to be had.

Our first visit here yesterday and had a fabulous few hours. The house is oozing character and utterly charming (inside house closed still at present) The gardens and grounds are stunning. So well maintained and an excellent layout. Staff very friendly and professional upon arrival, felt very welcomed. Beautiful orchard, pond and picnic area. The ice cream was fabulous, generously dolloped and lovely flavours. Kids park is closed at the moment so didn't explore yet. Will definitely be back. Well worth the 50 minute journey.
