Awful. When the game started it was clear that it was not working correctly. The member of staff advised us to wait for an introduction video and timer to appear on the screen, but the screen remained blank making it very unclear as to whether we should begin or not. We decided to begin but the room was so dark that we couldn’t read the clues on the wall. We tried to attract the attendant’s attention numerous times by talking and waving to the camera (since he had told us he would always be watching and listening for this) but there was no response, nor any indication that the game had started. We continued trying to play the game but it was virtually impossible, we persisted in waving at the camera and asking if the game had started and for help to no avail. After approx. 15 mins that attendant came in to the room and advised us that the system had failed and he would need to move us to another room. The attendant set the new room to a similar state but with a functioning screen and lights, we were advised that we would get some extra time. We worked our way through the various puzzles but could not complete the final challenge. Although we had solved the puzzle correctly we couldn’t get it to work. After perhaps five minutes of pressing the same combination of buttons over and over, the attendant entered the room and advised us that we had indeed got the correct solution but the equipment was not working so the game would end there. He then told us that if it had been working another cupboard would have opened, revealing the final part of the game. This was far from the experience we were expecting. The fact that the systems for both rooms failed is indicative of poor maintenance and a complete lack of testing or preparation. Whilst the personnel on site were apologetic, all they could say was that they were sorry but the systems failed. Although I had asked to speak to a manager, the person who was originally introduced as the manager later admitted that they were just a supervisor and there wasn’t a manager on site. We have received no follow-up from Clue HQ to either apologise or offer a refund – testament to the contempt that they show their customers.

Not what it was at all, rooms are not being prepared properly or maintained well at all. Went in end of March and the puzzle in our room was broken, the screen that gives you introduction and explanation at the beginning wasn't working, which also meant we couldn't see our timer, and we had to move rooms after (what we guessed to be about) 15 minutes, because the first room's computer system stopped working. Then in the next room we weren't able to finish despite having more than 10 minutes left, because one of the puzzles was also broken, and a member of staff came in saying "sorry it seems this puzzle is broken so you'll have to finish there".

This is my 2nd time doing this. It was fun and challenging. Good time out with good people. My team won again. Of course 😁👏🏾

Had an amazing time here today in the hellavator. Really well thought out and love how many concepts the room has in such a small space. Our games host Lock Zee did an amazing job of creating the scene and also keeping us going in the game, she offered help without ruining the game for us! Can't wait to come back for our next game!!

Was booked to do Hellevator with my family for my birthday. It was my first time doing an escape room. Parked nearby the train station (which is also right next to the venue) and walked over. Greeted by a very friend chap who told us where to wait and where the toilets were. Then our event coordinator Sophie, who was also very friendly, explained how the escape room worked and made sure we understood before sending us in. We put our belongings in a locker and off we go. At first we got stuck on how to start but Sophie was able to give us a small hint on the TV screen inside. We managed to beat the room with only 2 minutes to spare. Was very exciting and intense. We have already booked to go back, as they have an offer when you are there. 100% recommend.

Sherlock and the other host were fab, really got you motivated and excited with their high spirits and energy. The room was challenging, and the hints were gauged just right to avoid you losing the sense of achievement but to avoid you losing the trail. We have been in a few rooms, and enjoyed them all. I recommend at least 3 people in a room. We had two rooms (same) with 3 for an extra sense of competition, but you can have up to 6 people in there if you want. I think a couple of rooms can squeeze more in.

Great fun if you fancy something different. Make sure you take some good friends. Good to test if you can work in a group. We did Bunker 38 which was a good introduction to the escape room. Staff worked hard to be easy going and friendly. Look out for vouchers that bring down the cost for six to a tenner that makes it reasonably priced night out.

Absolutely inspired! We completed captain riddle with 10secs to spare, despite this being our first ever escape room! Loved the clues, and the host Hannah was awesome! Brilliant idea for team building and even better for a bunch of friends who just want to have a giggle! So many surprises and the the storyline really flowed. Perfect location, easily accessible via public transport and road, with good parking near by. Thanks ClueHQ!

This was a return visit to Clue HQ Birmingham - we've also visited other escape rooms before but always failed! This visit we did 'Cell Block C'. The game was great fun, with some imaginative twists! We actually managed to escape with time to spare, too! The only (slight) criticism was that we found our guide was a bit quick on giving us hints - we didn't get properly stuck at any point so we would have had a greater sense of achievement if we had struggled a bit. Having said that, we have already booked our return visit! By the way, the location is excellent too - any fans of 'Ready Player One' might find the surrounding streets eerily familiar...

Had a fantastic time for my aunties hen do. Amy was a great host, made us all feel welcome and ensured we had fun. We did Core, deffo a challenge and so glad we go out with 8min remaining

We went and did The Hellevator. Such a great and unique experience. Jake our host explained everything in detail and gave us enough clues which made logical sense and gave nothing away. Can highly recommend Clue HQ.

Did the Miyalock room as a four and it was fantastic. Ben was a great host. One of the best rooms I have experienced and I have completed over 50. Can't wait to go back and do another one soon.

Fantastic day, we booked on to do 2 escape rooms and had such a good time we did a third! Miyalock had great immersive technology and good story, Captain Riddles has great clues and Core was a cool concept with a good mixture of clues and technology! Our hosts were great Luke and Ryan both were welcoming and happily discussed all the escape rooms in detail with us in our debrief. Both were great fun.

Staff were awesome, games were fun. Some of the equipment was a little battered but the room was cool.

We had an excellent time with the Hellevator - very immersive with challenging puzzles and "aha" moments. In particular Lauryn was a great host; it really makes a difference when the person guiding you through is obviously really into escape rooms too.

Brilliant escape rooms. We've done a couple and the staff here are always amazing. There's also an area to play board games and a bar. We first did The Legend of Miyalock with our kids aged 11 and 7 and they both found it exciting and were able to participate. Not too difficult for them. Kids also loved the board games area too. Highly recommend

We did Miyalock today and the game was great once we got in, however upon arrival at 10:40am we were told that a GM hadn't attended work so there was no one to run our game. The options presented were to have one person run two games at once which might mean things were slower and the experience hampered, come back later, or take a refund and come back another day. We opted to come back later at 2:00pm and after another shaky start around having someone to run our game, we finally got into the game, the game itself was very good technically, the amount of clues given felt slightly too many, I think we were presented 8 clues, but only actually read 2 or 3. A full refund was offered however for the inconvenience and the rescheduling.

Second time we have been as a family. Managed to complete this time elevating us from bumpkin to idiot level. The location is great- damp railway arches which genuinely make it better. We were hosted by Owen this time who was a bit of a hoot. Overall a good way to spend an hour and find out how dim one can be. We will be back for more.

Our host Ananya was lovely and explained things well. The room was extremely hot but super fun and worth the experience, the only gripe I had was that a few times the puzzles didn't work properly which cost us time (Helevator) so it was a bit frustrating and it wasn't as scary as you'd expect considering the name, however I'd definitely recommend, it was a great experience, we did have fun and managed to escape with a few minutes to spare!

I absolutely loved our team building escape room at Clue HQ yesterday. We did the Myalock room, which was really interactive, with lots of cool surprises. Luke was a fantastic game master, nudging us along as needed and making some jokes on the screen from time to time. Very proud to say we escaped with more than 4 minutes to spare!

Had a great time with family for our for our first escape room! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere set the scene for the event to come! We tried the 4 star difficulty Clue-tankhamun escape room and it was challenging and fun

Excellent escape room experience, even with the COVID19 Crisis going on. We were safely briefed by an entertaining host (Nathan?) and shown to our escape room. The game itself was tricky and required a lot of team work and thinking. We were provided with good clues by the host who made sure we were progressing through the game. We managed to win the game with 20 seconds to spare and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun family activity thats not physical or strenuous or an activity for work colleagues.

Excellent escape rooms a great fun on the board game cafe afterwards. Escape room. Included a free hour at the board game cafe. Well worth it for an evenings activities.

We played Hellivator (and didn't escape). It was great fun all the same. It was my first Escape Room, and we all really enjoyed it! The time went so quickly! The game was really well presented and the game hosts (Evan & Zac) were great. They were very helpful and friendly. We'd definitely visit again.

Family of four did the hellevator escape room. It was very challenging and we didn’t escape. If you are claustrophobic you might find this room difficult because it’s small and gets very hot. But otherwise it’s a great activity. Staff were great and extremely helpful

We did Cluetankhamun as an early works Christmas do, had a really good time, nice surprise that there was a decent bar area as well as the rooms. Had we not already had other plans, we would have stayed there for a bit afterwards. I’ve done a few escape rooms but even so found this quite tricky, just about managed to escape with less than a minute remaining. Big thank you to our brilliant host Laura, we will be back to try the other rooms.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we actually did really well with 10 minutes to spare! Very challenging at some points and luckily we had a good team with us which enabled us to get through it. Well designed rooms and challenges and already looking to book a second go

Fantastic escape room venue. Our 5th visit - this time we did The Legend of Miyalock and loved it. Perfect balance of physical challenges and riddles to keep our family group (adults and teens) busy for almost the whole hour. Our games master was brilliant, giving us occasional nudges in the right direction, so we never stalled, but not too many or too soon so we still felt like we deserved the win :). I would recommend this venue (and Owen) 100%!

One of the best escape rooms I’ve done so far, we did the Hellevator yesterday and it was incredible! Sophie was our game master and she was amazing, we all really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to come back to play a different room.

The staff and adventure here is brilliant and cannot fault anything. They even accommodated to me having a baby in the buggy . Great work guys really recommend this to all groups , couples and families!

Incredible experience all around! Evan was running our room and did a fantastic job of getting us immersed and in the zone for our piratey antics! We did Captain Riddles Lost Cove and the theming for the room was brilliant with lots of engaging puzzles to do - an enjoyably long room too!. A huge thanks to Evan for being a sick dude!!!

We had a great time with our escape room. 2 out of 3 of us had never done one before and Sophie explained everything really well and gave us just the right amount of clues, she was great!

We did our 2nd escape room here today (Captain Riddle) with Luke and Laura as our GMs - they were brilliant. All the staff we’ve met whilst visiting have been brilliant and really accommodating. Captain Riddle was a fantastic room and was definitely suitable for children as our 4 and 7 year old nieces could get involved and enjoyed the room (apart from being a little scared of the darker areas). We have already booked a return trip to do another room here!

Had a great experience, went a couple months ago. First escape room definitely recommend. Did the pirate ship one. Shout out to Luke, was a great host. I don't usually leave reviews but i appreciate people who try at their job.

Recently went here for a friends birthday where we completed the Hellevator Escape Game. It was a lot of fun! It was definitely one of the more linear games we've played, but it was challenging and the craftsmanship of the room was very impressive. We did it with a group of 7 but i'd definitely say its best with a group of 3-4. The venue in general is great. I've been a few times in the past as well and the games have always been brilliant. It's also in an easy part of Birmingham to drive to, with plenty of parking within walking distance. I 100% recommend this place.

We have played three rooms at Clue HQ : Hellevator, Captain Riddle and Miyalock. Honestly these three rooms are placed in my top 5 rooms ever ! Extremely well built, fun, with a lot of diversity in the games. And the team is very welcoming.

This was a brilliant experience. Luke was on hand to help us today and he made the whole process and experience great for our family of 4. We did the Miyarock escape room. 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 15

Very dark rooms so it was difficult to see clues and had to resort to using our phones for light. No dressing up costumes for photo's at the end, much prefer others I have participated in.

We tried the hardest room hellavator. Although we didn't finish the room we did enjoy the experience.

Captain riddle - Best escape room I've ever done!

1st time in an Escape Room, 4 of us 2 had been previously. We managed to complete Captain Riddles Forgotten Fortune with 12:13 left. Had a right laugh and it went real fast. Highly recommended we will be going again. Thank you to Leah who was our host for the game 10 clues at apt times.

Great puzzles, challenging but fun. Staff was very friendly and helpful as well. Too bad I didn't get out due to...um...wife. yeah..let's blame her 😏

Great fun! I was a little apprehensive at first but the staff make you feel right at home. We did the Hellavator and managed to escape with a few minutes to spare. Place was a little tricky to locate, it's under the bridge near the train station. Hope that helps!

Couple with 5 kids aged 10 - 15 yrs old. This was our first escape room and can say it was fantastic. The rooms, the set up and plot was brilliant. Highly recommended.

We visited as a group of 6. 3 adults and 3 children aged 10 and 15. Very welcoming upon arrival. Everything was explained clearly and nothing was too much trouble. An enjoyable experience.

Completed the Core room with 1 minute to spare. The crew were very professional and helpful and created a fantastic atmosphere for a fun night out. Sherlock only helped when we really needed it and was a great support. The visuals are modern and story line was great, not sure if youngsters would appreciate it, fantastic for teenagers and above. We have booked to go back and complete another room.

Absolutely amazing event for large groups.

Loved this place. I came with friends and family and we did the ‘Hellavator’ room - we escaped with seconds to spare and really enjoyed the whole experience. The room was really good at keeping it fun and entertaining whilst also increasing the pressure and stakes throughout the challenge. Will definitely revisit and try another room soon
