Really good time. I went with a 2.5 year old so thought he might be a bit little but he really enjoyed exploring the prison, pressing all the buttons he could find, and finding out more about the police. We were lucky to come on a day with the chick hunt which made it all the more fun. The interactive elements were perfect and he loved the interactive elements downstairs, particularly dressing up and fingerprinting. The volunteers there are really helpful and made it all the more engaging.

Can't believe I paid money to be allowed inside a prison! Overall it was a good way to pass 1/5 hours. You could browse the cells and see how the inside of a 2 by 2 prison cell feels and smells like (there were interactive panels to test how the cell or the food originally smelled). There was a historic side as well, both the bulding as well as some legacy boards and historic items belonging to the different eras of UK/Birmingham police force. It wasn't a spectacular experience, but I'm glad I visited there, because it is a one of a kind museum. BTW, at the time of my visit, a single ticket for adult costed 10 pounds.

Really enjoyed this museum. Interesting to see the history of the building and west midlands as a police force. Feel like theres so much more that could be added to the rooms for the histroy. It does lack a little. Feels sparcely furnished. I get its the histroy of the west midlands and I enjoyed every bit of it but if it incorporated the police throughout the UK they could jam pack the place with fascinating stuff. One of the best pieces, photo supplied is the book containing prisoners, mugshots and offences. That book, books like it would make an amazing exhibit if all the pages could be copied and placed on the walls. A serial killer expo, although dark would be something that would fascinate customers. Riots, cybercrime, unsolved mursers, missing persons etc, all could make interesting exhibits, with some care for dpa and victims. The shop had pretty decent books on for sale. Eslecially the old moriaty police books. Loved them and have a few different editions at home. Wheelchair friendly as it has a lift to go between floors. Its very close to a multistorey carpark (SNOWHILL) which is literally a six (6) minute walk from there. There are also a few four (4) hour parking slots around the city. Staff were very friendly and engaging and I would probably attend again, but wouldnt travel from outside of the city to see as it simply doesnt have enough to warrant a excursion. If you happen to be in Birmingham for whatever reason then definitley go and see.

Very interesting. Very much enhanced by older female volunteer who was very well informed. Clearly very passionate about the subject. Glad we met her first. Otherwise the cadets who were nice but spectacularly uninformed. Museum should pay woman to train others. The museum was eye opening, and really informative. We did the crime scene reconstruction downstairs with a 13 year old and it was greT. We were told peaky blinders was filmed there but didn't see any evidence of this

Great few hours with the kids here. Great to learn about the history of the building, policing in the West mids and crimes and punishments of some of it's visitors. The staff and officers were lovely, very kind and knowledgeable. The armed response guys out the front also handle the 100 questions our excited 5yr old asked. Great fun and highly recommended!

Went on a Igers Birmingham UK photography meet. The West Midlands Police Museum is a historic place to photograph. The lock-up opened in 1891 and closed in 2016. The museum opened in 2022. Having moved from the former Sparkhill Police Station. Exhibits in cells. Three floors to explore. At his majesty's pleasure.

Yesterday it was the first time I visited the lock-up in Birmingham as we are invited to help Wizz Air open day which myself and my colleague thoroughly enjoyed are experienced and being able to speak to some of the volunteers that were there who are ex serving officers when it was an operational lock-up some current officers but also see some of the real history behind this building. I can't wait to see the upcoming plans to this building and what they wanting to do with their support from the local police and moving some of their items from their old museum to the current location. If you're looking for something to do with your children in the holidays or weekends I can highly recommend visiting this location as you will not be disappointed watch out on their website for details as I heard people have been waiting a long time to visit this location and when they did they weren't disappointed. I look forward to revisiting the lock-up with other colleagues but also working with them in the future. Well done guys keep up the great work

Friendly staff. Plenty of stuff to see with information boards in nearly every second cell, makes for plenty of reading. Bottom floor offers interactive stuff for kids. Reasonably priced tickets for the time spent. Website recommends 2 hours to visit however I'd recommend closer to 3 if going to go through everything.

Went on a school trip with my son. Enjoyed it. The staff were very passionate and kept the kids entertained which was good. the kids trying the uniforms was a fun experience along with the history of policing in the United Kingdom. Would like to see more of this sort of thing from the police as I've never heard of a police museum before and this place has the potential of becoming something special. Keep up the good work chaps.

ยฃ5.00 adult, ยฃ3.50 child. It is a really good day out for the family, it is very informative and provides insight into both modern and historic policing. There are informative booths scattered around the lock up where you can find out different stuff about current and past interest of the police. Really worthy of a visit if you can secure the tickets. Need to pre book as the events sell out.

I wasn't so much interested in the museum as I had to pay the ยฃ9 entrance fee. So I didn't go in. I enjoyed the little pretty souvenir shop. But the museum seemed worthy of visiting if you're interested.

Brilliant great disabled access lady on reception was polite and didn't make a major issue of my partner's disability. Guy who talked to us downstairs was great. Fantastic museum great prices in their cafe recommend it to anyone they have a wheelchair to use and also a transfer wheelchair to use if you are in a self propelled wheelchair so you can access the rooms in the basement that have narrow doors lifts to all floors x

What a great find. Very informative and interesting, the receptionist was lovely, without me asking had applied concession and carer. Then explained where to go etc. Chatted to an ex police officer and had fascinating chat about how the station operated on various times of the year. Well worth a visit, only down side parking is an issue.

Great place to visit. Thank you to Eileen, Archie, and the rest of the volunteers. There were lots of interactive things to do for children and adults. You really need to have at least 2 hours may more.

Definitely worth a visit. Opened in 2022. Really nice ex (retired) police around who are really friendly and will give a bit of historical content to the cases they've been involved in or know about. Not busy when we visited in December. Recommended if you're in Birmingham. Will take about 1 to 2 hours to go around to give it justice (forgive the pun!)

We took our son here after some recommendations from others, and we loved it. It doesnโ€™t take too long to get round but you just go at your own pace. Itโ€™s interactive, including a dress-up area for kids to pretend to be Police Officers. Staff were really friendly and informative.

What a great visit last Sunday. So so much to see and do. Didn't expect to be in there so long. Great little shop as well. Extra praise to Sue the volunteer who we chatted to for ages in shop. She was so knowledgeable. Will definitely come back. Thanks

Really enjoyed the visit. Got to see all the gadgets (handcuffs, torches, cameras etc) as they developed over time. Chris and Matt were brilliant and gave us the forensics game to play, which was really good. Very interesting to see the tunnel from the courts and all the cells in this prison. We expected it to last about an hour but was in there over 2. They also have hats and clothing to try on too. Definitely go and enjoy it, highly recommended

Went here with my mum as we thought it sounded interesting from what we heard online. Honestly, the place is brilliant!! It was such an incredible building and it was so interesting learning about police history, forensics and when things we know in policing today were 1st introduced. I had a fantastic time, the staff and volunteers there were also lovely and helped make up a great experience. Would 100% recommend!!

A very interesting place to visit and certainly qualifies as something a little different to do. I won't give too much away in this review but it is located in the old custody cells on Steelhouse Lane, used up to 2016. Great for adults and kids alike with plenty to kill an hour or two. More history than I expected there to be in Policing in Birmigham
