This was a great way to spend a few hours, free parking, Β£25.00 family ticket. Very knowledgable staff and very helpful. We got to ride on a few of the old buses and coaches, forgot how bumpy the back seats were, met some of the old bus drivers who very kindly let my grandson sit in the drivers seat. Nice little canteen and plenty to explore for all ages, little steam train that takes the kids around and only Β£1.50 a go. Well worth a vist just for the nostalgia factor!!!!

Found this museum by accident when we were at Beckett's Farm. Got a free shuttle bus to the museum which only cost Β£7 and all the volunteers were so helpful and informative. Lots of buses and milk floats to see and a small steam train. You could have unlimited rides on the well cared for old buses, including an open topped one. Teas and sandwiches were reasonably priced, so it was a good, affordable day out.

Little gem of a place, ok you do need to be a little interested in public transport from back in the day and it's a great nostalgia trip. Doesn't cost much, free bus ride (ours was an open top) cafe is old school, nothing fancy and really well priced, coffee, ice cream, two cakes just under Β£6. Well recommend.

We had a wonderful, soggy Saturday with the whole family here. We visited with a 2 year old, a 1 year old and 4 adults. The volunteers were one of the best things about the museum- they are SO knowledgeable and accommodating and generally just happy to be there! There is an incredible amount of exhibits, interactive displays and vehicles you can board. There is a fab, inexpensive cafe with a reasonable amount of variety, as well as picnic tables and outdoor seating and play area for young children. We took a ride on a double decker bus but missed the ride on train due to our bad timing. We will definitely return and have another few family days out because as our children get older they will enjoy and engage in different aspects.

A destination venue for bus enthusiasts, main event days are predominantly around bank holidays, where there is intensive vehicle running, a free bus is usually available in event days from Birmingham city centre to the museum. Mostly Midlands area buses on display in 3 large halls, facilities include a miniature railway, cafe, gift shop, and a children's play area. On busier days an alternative car park is used which is approximately 1/4 mile from the museum, with an accessible shuttle bus running every 10 mins.

Interesting afternoon spent at the Transport Museum in Wythall. If you have any interest in coach/ bus travel through the years then you must visit this museum. The volunteers on hand were all extremely knowledgeable and the selection and numbers of buses are fantastic. Many have been restored but you can also see all types in many forms of condition. You can sit in the buses and really get a feel for buses from a bygone age. Vintage fire engines are also on display adding to the interest of the museum. Another interesting display was a number of electric milk floats. Imagine that.... battery power!!! I still remember the chinking of bottles as the milk was delivered by the milkman, it heralded the start of the day. There are great activities for children so this would be a good to place for a family to visit. The cafe team were really friendly with a good selection of refreshments available. We went on a nice drive in an open topped bus which was great and really gave you a sense of traveling in these old vehicles. I would recommend a visit to the Transport Museum. It's easy to get to, good parking and very interesting

We had a great day yesterday worth the money. The free bus ran was amazing. Its a shame the museum isn't more advertised I.E Facebook, other social media sites. Only released after 18years the museum is about 2miles from my house if I would of knew it was this near I would of came alot sooner

My Grandson and I really enjoyed the visit, we were both very impressed. Its a great shame that there is not enough space to display the preserved Busses a little better.

Took my grandson today, I would definitely recommend it, well will definitely be going back for a return visit. we all had a great time. The bus rides where great, exploring the local area. The way the museum is set out is good because there is alway something different for little ones to do. Thank you and congratulations to all the volunteers for giving up their time to make it a great day out. 😊

Brilliant day out for all ages. I went with my partner, his 83 year old mother and my daughter, son in law and toddler grandchildren. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. You are able to enter several of the exhibits yourself but any that are roped off are often accessible if you find a member of staff to escort you and they will tell you the history and details too. There are buses of all ages, memorabilia, milk floats, a trolley bus and even a fire engine with a bell (especially popular with my grandson). Included in the ticket price (Β£7 for adults Β£4 kids with family tickets available and with under 5's free) is a 30 minute open top bus ride around the local area and there is also a small miniature railway from just Β£1.50 extra. For kids there is an outdoor play area and an indoor play cabin. The cafe is very reasonably priced and does a variety of hot drinks, crisps, chocolate, ice cream and some cake and sandwiches. There is also a van selling chips and burgers and a small shop with books and timetable memorabilia as well as some models to purchase . Plenty of seating inside and outside the cafe and picnic benches on the green by the entrance and carpark, where there is ample parking. Dogs are welcome on short leads everywhere but inside the cafe, unless of course they are assistance dogs. It is wheelchair accessible apart from the buses used for the ride as they are obviously old stock, but for those with some mobility they provide steps to help you get on board. We were there all day it was so interesting and will definitely be returning.

This is a real hidden gem that a friend found by accident, we had a great half day out with our little kids including their first bus ride. There's buses through the ages, activities and things to learn in the museum, a great little playground with a milkfloat with chalkboard sides, bus rides, CafΓ© and shop, hot food trailer, toddler playroom, workshops, miniature railway.

Excellent museum for bus fanatics, a huge collection to look round. The volunteers were brilliant, very knowledgeable, eager to chat and show you round the buses. Even did a 30 minute bus ride on a vintage bus for no extra charge. Spent around 4 hours there.

πŸ‘‹Perfect for all the family ! I took my 8 year old son, and my 76 year old dad (in a mobility scooter)...and both were delighted the whole day. The cafe has the most friendly volunteers, and the cappuccino delicious!β˜• ❣️I loved the milk float exhibition , and we went on the vintage bus tour , and the miniature railway which my son loved most of all. Thank you to all the hard working staff - We will be back!

Nice place, great to see all old busses and even better seeing the old milk floats. Price to get in was great @ Β£4 slightly more if they have something going on.

Brilliant volunteer led museum. Free bus journey and miniature train ride for the kids to get "hands on with history". Farm shop nearby for a family picnic, as the cafe is limited at the moment (Covid-19).

Nicely run museum with a range of well restored buses. Includes history exhibits and a small outdoor steam train for the kids. If you like buses you'll love this place. Nice afternoon/morning activity.

  • 4/5 R E. 3 years ago on Google
Excellent exhibits, well displayed and with lots of information pertaining to them all. Staff very courteous and knowledgeable. Only slight negative, was the speed with which they wanted visitors out as the place was closing. No one likes being delayed from going home after a long day, I grant them that, but I'd suggest that there are better ways of saying so than we witnessed. Otherwise, excellent. Certainly worth a visit. Maybe leave before it closes though.

Great day out for a young family. We took our two year old daughter who loves buses and she loved it. We got to ride the bus and the miniature train (my personal highlight). There were lots of things to read for people interested in the history of the transport. We just enjoying exploring.
