The abbey is located on private land (check the website). It can be seen by leaving the bridle path or from the northern bridle path 80m away. Be aware I walked up to the buildings by the Abbey to ask to take photos and was confronted by a "gentleman" wearing full combat fatigues, dark glasses and face covered with a bandanna sporting a shotgun over his shoulder telling me quickly leave what he claimed was his property.

It’s a real shame that the land the abbey stands on is now privately owned and the owners obviously actively discourage anyone from getting too close. It seems strange that someone can build a home so close to a historical ruin of public interest, but do not allow public to access it. It’s quite unwelcoming.

Visited via an EH Open Day 30 years ago. It was very well attended. Since then a guy must have bought the land and told everyone to clear off (judging from the reviews, and myself included). Time to compulsory purchase the land and develop as a tourist attraction?

The land is private property and the land owner is a #*&# who won't open it up to the public.

There’s no abbey. Just a sign saying to keep out. Thanks for getting my hopes up

English Heritage should really remove this site from their directory. You can't get anywhere near it, the best you can do is tramp through a farmers field for 15 mins to catch a tiny glimpse of what's left of the Abbey across a stream through some trees. Don't bother.

You can't get to it. A waste. It should be much more accessible.

Just ruins and you can't go up close, but it looks cooler in real life

Pointless, there is no parking anywhere near this site, no signage and the land its on is privately owned with no access! It would be better if English heritage took this off the website! Wasted journey very disappointed

A nice walk to the abbey, which in of itself, isn't much, but interesting to view

English heritage doesn’t even own this land anymore. You can’t access it only can walk through public footpath and take pictures from afar. I only came because i want to visit all the english heritage sites
