It's one of the worst hotels everbeen. we booked 4 suites for 4 nights, and none of them were clean. The rooms were very dirty. The cleaning service was very poor. There was a bad smell in the rooms and in the corridor. the ac was not working for the whole period of our stay. The widows could not be open. The gym was closed . The reception and the management were not responding to our complaints.

Went for a spa day, minimal - has the pool, steam room and jacuzzi, friendly staff, had to ask for hand-wash and toilet roll in the ladies changing room, place needed a bit of a clean! Its an extra £5 for a robe, towel and slippers. Spa treatments were lovely. Cream tea was nice, £4 for a glass of draught Pepsi max. 4hrs free parking the £5 after.

Only thing they needs to improve is the car parking hardly any spaces or people taking up two spaces. Other than that friendly staff relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was fantastic. Rooms fantastic.

DO NOT USE THIS PLACE FOR CONFERENCES UNLESS YOU WANT TO WRONGLY CHASED FOR UNPAID PARKING FEES - we held a conference here back in July 2018. We paid for the parking on arrival and still we all received a parking fine. I rang up and spoke to the manager at the time and he told me this would be resolved as there’s a record of my payment. Since then, for the last 4 years I’ve been harassed by ‘debt collection bailiffs’ for a sum of £170. I probably get one every 6 months which then means I have to call this hotel and they tell me they will sort it. Absolute joke - take your business elsewhere.

Please save your money and do not book. I have traveled around the world and stayed at many hotels but this is the worst hotel ever. It’s old as a bat. The AC in the room doesn’t work. They tell you it works when it detects motion lol when it is timed. It only works certain hours and turns off. Breakfast is garbage. Front desk is garbage. The phones in the rooms have no guide and it’s just a plain phone with no numbers on it or to even tell you what to press for any kind of service. Park Regis right across this property looks like a much better option. I wish I booked there. I have never hated my stay anywhere as much as I’ve hated it here. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

Booked a spa day here with my wife. Glad we didn't arrive too early as very little to do. Lovely greeting at the front door to be directed to the spa downstairs. Arrived downstairs to fill in forms for our massages later. Given towels but no robes or slippers, which I would have expected for a spa day, especially when massages were included. Very clean changing rooms and walked into the spa to see a sign stating to shower before entering the spa, sauna and steam room. 'there is no sauna' we discovered after searching and then asking. The pool was small but lovely and warm. It was actually warmer than the jacuzzi! The jucuzzi we had to ask the staff to turn the heating up multiple times. The steam room had no steam and again staff had to be asked to fix. Really not what I expected from a spa day after travelling from Swansea to Birmingham for a spa day! Thought we were in good hands with a Marriott but apparently not. Not much to do for a few hours while we waited for our massages, which were excellent. Thank you Jasmine for our massages, so relaxing and professional. On the whole very disappointing experience and we left straight after the massages due to lack of working facilities. After speaking to regulars at the spa, they said that the facilities are often not working and they always have to speak to staff to get things working. They only go there because its quiet in the spa and gym, which probably says a lot about the place.

I would expect Marriott Hotel a lot better than what I experienced. However, my visit with my family was a disappointment from my previous Marriott Hotels standard. Overall, the customer service was great, and the commual area is well maintained. The letdowns were the facilities and the quality of the room. 1. Facilities We were staying with a baby. The disabled lift at the entrance didn't work as it should. The ramp got stuck to a position where I had to physically close it manually in order for the lift to work. If it is work in order, the whole process should be automatic. Imagine if a wheelchair person is using it rather than me using it with the pram. The second time I used it, again, I had to manually adjust the ramp to get it working. Once we reached the top, the door wouldn't open. In the end, we had to go back down and carry the pram up the stairs toward the entrance with the baby in it. The previous spa facilities had all been shut down, which this was disappointing. This was one of the reasons we booked here. 2. Room The room is really disappointing. Lighting - Overall, the room is dark, especially when the curtains are closed. There is only one small spot ceiling light installed in the entire room by the exit door. The hotel tried to compensate the darkness by having three lamps. However, only two were working. As shown in the photos. Ventilation - There is no air conditioning in this room. The tower fan did not look like it had been clean for a while, which dusts gathered where the wind came out. Can't use it as it affects my 4 months old baby. Bathroom - 1. Cleanliness - The window near the shower / bath was a disgrace and absolutely disgusting. The poor design of the window made water trapped when all previous hotel guests used it. No one from the hotel cleaned it, so there is a pool of water sitting with a lot of green floating things (as shown in photos). It's really disgusting. 2. One of the buttons is missing from the tap, as shown in the photo. 3. Flash handle loose, which it takes a couple of attempts to flash the toilet. Safety TV stand - 1. The TV is sitting on a big piece of glass, and a big piece of glass with the TV is sitting on a wooden TV stand. There are no rubber feets installed between the glass and the wooden TV stand to prevent the glass and the TV sliding on the TV stand like ice skating (as shown in the photo). The TV and the glass can easily fall. 2. There is a sharp nail pointed outward (as shown in the photo) on the TV stand right next to the luggage rack. Again, this could cause injury if people staying in this room are unaware. 3. The TV stand has two doors in the bottom. The hinges need adjusting as it would close as shown. 3. Dinning Breakfast - Overall, breakfast was good. The only thing it can improve on is the becons looked like it had sat there for a long time. The hotel should replace it after a certain period of time.

Expensive hotel, service was so poor. They really need to implement some customer service training. I stay in hotels across Europe weekly I believe I have a good understanding of what's good and bad. Location was ok just outside city centre. Hotel is so dated. Really not what I expected from a Marriott

High-quality hotel just a walking distance from the Broad Street and the Five Ways train station, giving an easy access for example to the University. Clean and comfortable rooms and very good service.

This hotel has a very nice classical look with rich wood everywhere. It's easy to get to as it's located at the Five Ways roundabout add only a few minutes walk from the Five Ways train station or a few minutes Uber from Birmingham New Street station. There's a Morrison's grocery store right next door, Costa coffee across the street, and a Pizza Hut around the corner. The rooms are spacious and are air conditioned but if you need more air just ask for a fan. The restaurant and bar are very popular with the locals and the food is wonderful. The rooms are also well soundproofed and the traffic outside is hard to hear. I'll definitely stay here again.

Lovely rooms. Average self service breakfast. Bar closed at 11pm even though many residents wished to visit after returning after concert and cricket. We're told it would be open. Barman gone home so no service available. A lot of unhappy guests. Paying in excess of £350 per room per night not acceptable.

Won a one night stay here via a charity auction back in ‘14. My stay was only okay, and was told that I was not entitled to breakfast, even though it was included in the details for my package.

As a marriott platinum, I was disappointed. First, they didn't receive the note about wanting a walk-in shower, a note I added to the reservation as I had had a recent foot operation and didn't want to slip. Then, on the last evening, due to the rain, I used the hotel bar and asked for the bill to be on the room tab. This was refused because at check-in, they hadn't taken anything on my credit card to secure the bill. Although they had my credit card details and I am a lifetime platinum member of marriots. Needless to save, embarrassing my friends, the bar bill was paid independently. The breakfast when it was a marriott was included for platinum now as a delta it is a case of points or breakfast. The breakfast was probably one of the worst I have had on a hotel. The bread offering was the white soft plastic bag stuff. Embarrassing when morrisons is next door offering a big selection of bread. And the ordered omelette never arrived. In summary, I understand why marriot downgraded it to Delta in the recent changes. As it is certainly not a Marriott. At checkout. I wasn't given any plausible reason for the shortcoming , but I was assured it would be better next time. The will not be a next time. I can be insulted at a lower rate in an ibis

Stayed at this hotel for 2 days for just the day. On the second day there was a bit of an issue with reservation however I think that was an issue with the company I booked through but it was resolved quickly. Rooms are big with big bathrooms. There is a closer with iron, kettle, complimentary tea and coffee. There's plenty of shops dotted around. There is a morrisons and Starbucks just behind the hotel as well as a Costa as pretty much neighbours with the hotel. Overall a nice experience however I did find that both days I stayed, there was a Christian Bible and Mormon Bible in each of the bedside tables which I found a bit odd and did make me feel uncomfortable slightly as a Muslim. It didn't feel respectful to the holy books. Also the TV doesn't support phone mirroring. Other than this, no complaints 👍🏼

It was just what we needed near the city centre car parking at cost and we had a room room for the night. The bar area was nice people in the bhava friendly breakfast is very very average. To be honest we didn’t pay much for the room as I had Marriott points, so there was value. Obviously it’s not a five star or four star that it is what it says on the tin.

Stayed here , unfortunately only for 1 night. What can I say but absolutely amazing. Stay at lots of hotels for 1/2 nights but this was the best we have stayed in for a long time. We were upgraded to superior room (many thanks), was absolutely spotless throughout and the smell, omg was amazing from the moment you went into lobby. High quality products in room, breakfast fab, beds were so comfortable too, all of the staff friendly and informative. Would be our first choice if staying in that area again. Big shout out to front of house manager (sincere apologies for not remembering your name ) you were so amazing qnd you work so hard and are totally committed to your guests. Thank you again so very much and for the handcream. Would highly recommend. J&P G

***WARNING*** This Delta hotel by Marriott is a beautiful facility located about a 10-15 minute walk to most restaurants and night life. The Pub had good service and drinks. Breakfast is pretty amazing, lady in the morning is very friendly and helpful. My floor had new rugs installed. The rooms are clean, spacious but no refrigerator even thought it’s on my profile my profile. The main issue on this property is that the A/C is STILL NOT working in some rooms, hallways and elevators. Read other reviews. Even though I’m an Elite Marriott member, I got one of those rooms that the A/C was not operational. The joke was to ask everyday after work if the AC was fixed, because the front desk would say, “Yes it was”. Why are they so angry at the front desk? By the way Only a small opening on one window was your ventilation and way to kool down the room, pack a small 10mm wrench if your planning to stay here. Also Bring your own towel and hand sanitizer to the gym. The gym equipment is dirty and nothing to wipe it down. My question is What’s going on with the Marriott hotels treating their Elite Members like rodents? Nothing like their Bonvoy commercials. I guess I’m spoiled by the service given to Elite members on other hotel brands.

Had the pleasure to stay at Delta Hotels at Birmingham and i must say it was brilliant from start to finish. I would like to thank Ast. Manager Ana Monteiro for making my stay exceptional. She went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Definitely a big asset to the organisation. The team both at the bar and reception too were pleasant, friendly and professional. Thank you again Ana 🙂.

The service at this hotel was amazing. The food was wonderful. The location is a short walk into the city centre. Have booked again for next year.

I didn't stay at the hotel however i wanted to say that the massage therapist was amazing! I wish i got her name, she was tanned, black coily hair, beautiful and so so nice! My massage was wonderful. The spa facilities are very out dated and the spa reception is rather unpleasant as 3 men just congregate around the front desk but i would ignore all this just to have the same massage therapist again.

The sauna plus the jaccuzi are not working and the pool is freezing. I went in and out straight away!! When you have planned to spend a nice day then this makes you in bad mood for the rest of your weekenday, members are paying a fortune but facilities are appalling. I can't deny that staff are lovely and get so ashamed of the Spa conditions.

Hotel is slightly out of town though has a reasonably size car park. Reception team are very helpful and responsive. Breakfast is excellent and again great service. The gym and pool have a few too many non residents for it to be enjoyable.

I hardly stay in hotels but with the price the rooms went for, I was expecting a certain standard. The location of the hotel is great, easy to walk to city centre and all that. The reception was a nice place, it went with the money I paid for. The room was really spacious. It had a safe, iron and an ironing board amgost the usual things. It unfortunately didn't have a kettle with cups and tea bags. It's interesting to see a review saying they had. The bathroom was also huge and beautiful. The building is antique and it is all nice but my room didn't have a window I could open. During the night it was hot and there was no way of cooling it down even though my thermostat was off. To some people, it wouldn't be a problem but for me it was. Also, my table lamp was not working. Having done a few budget hotels, I felt they would be on top of their game. I loved the gym. It was small but it had the things needed in my opinion. Also enjoyed the swimming pool. I unfortunately didn't eat there so I cannot comment on the food. Would I come again? I'm honestly not sure, I feel I've had better experiences at a cheaper price.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Marriott, as soon as you walk through the door, the reception area is grand and the receptionists are so well mannered. The room was comfortable and clean and had everything you could need, tea/coffee, luggage space and toiletries. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars, the pool was closed for maintenance during the stay, which unfortunately was the only reason I had booked this hotel specifically (for one night was over £300). While friendly, the catering people serving for breakfast seemed a bit confused with every request made (the food was fantastic though!). I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed for a weekend recently. Hotel is very dated, especially the decor. It really needs modernising. Strangely, the rooms unless you were upgraded to a more expensive suite, don't have a fridge which in all hotels I have stayed in is standard. On hot days, it would be helpful to be able to keep water/drinks cold. Location central to where we needed to be. A short walk away there were eating places, a cinema and Morrisons supermarket. Rooms decent size and clean. Would be helpful to have sockets next to the beds. Bathroom clean. Breakfasts were usual buffet style and had most things. Special shout out to Darren, Bradley, Corey and Bilal in the restaurant. All very friendly and helpful. The front reception staff were also very nice and helpful.

This is my honest account. I was seriously considering this hotel as it's owned by a reputable name in the hotel world but sadly I won't be staying. I phoned reservations to ask some basic questions and was dealt with by a rude (European I believe) member of staff. He was quite dismissive, arrogant in his speech and very abrupt. Needless to say that unfortunately the first impression has been a negative one and it will be lasting. Areas of concern: customer service.

Poor experience all round... Booked a suite as there was four of us in total, it would be pretty obvious that the sofa bed is required, but upon getting our room, the sofa bed was not set-up. When I questioned this at reception, I got a response of "you didn't inform us you'd need the sofa bed" - there's 4 of us!! Surely we won't all be using the same bed. Pool was shut for over a month apparently, but nothing on the website to suggest that, found out upon check-in - would've booked a different hotel as we were there with the kids and they were looking forward to using the pool. Tried ordering room service and I was told they don't offer that service as they are understaffed. Our bill on the final day had multiples of the same order... Thankfully the receipt was clear enough to realise that there were double charges. Won't be staying here ever again, stayed at a few Marriott's before, this was most definitely the worst experience of them all.

Very pleasant stay at the Marriott Hotel Birmingham, Darren was friendly and helpful during our stay and was extremely welcoming. A* Highly recommend this hotel. I would happily stay again due to the helpfulness and warm welcome from Darren

Air con in bedroom didn’t get cool, manager told me it’s because everyone in the hotel probably was using their air con at the same time…? Pool - water is cold and a bit murky. They advise to shower before getting in, shower smells of a mens urinal. This is not a 4 star hotel, this is 3 at a push, defo not a spa hotel!

  • 2/5 Seb H. 1 year ago on Google
Came here for training - I have dietary issues and despite informing the hotel a number of times the bar and kitchen staff completely ignored it and served me numerous dishes with contents I am intolerant of. Absolutely appalling in todays society.

Good location with onsite parking, clean rooms with all the basic amenities provided. There is a pool and gym that guest can use for free.

This is a medium quality hotel. The spa area is a bit dated, no sauna. Functional but not luxury. Rooms are pretty good. Breakfast: delicious porridge but the other hot food didn't taste like great quality. Check-in wasn't that friendly and didn't explain things like the Internet access code but breakfast & Spa staff very nice. Convenient location. Overall functional, fine for business type of trip but not a treat hotel.
