Stayed here for work, it's more of a 3.5 star but I've gone more towards the 4 as the service was great, as was the food I think I ordered wrong the first night but the second night I the Malaysian chicken curry which was fantastic. Rooms are a little dated but are a decent size, only used it as a bed really. Service was all room service due to covid breakfast was continental but made a change to full English!. Obviously none of the facilities were open, and it's a stones throw from the city centre. But I'm sure if it was fully open it would still warrant the 4 star.

The room was dark and dingy, stank of cigarette smoke, and carpet/walls stained. Can’t expect much for £32 a night but with parking it worked out to be £52. Avoid room 312 if you do stay here! Friends room next door 311 was much brighter and cleaner looking. It served its purpose though, and towels and bedding seemed clean

Location was good and staff were friendly. However, the double bed was small, the room seemed really dated and dimly lit, the bathroom really needed refreshing (a more powerful, modern shower would be a great start) and there was a lack of plug sockets & pillows. Incredibly disappointing for a ‘4-star’ hotel.

We had a pleasant stay from the start to the end of our stay! We received exceptional service at breakfast from Rahaul, he was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The only downside of our stay were the thin walls in the room, you can hear everything from the other rooms and the hallway. Aside from that the hotel is a decent place to stay for an affordable price

My stay was decent. The rooms were clean and comfortable. However, I was a bit disappointed of the staff. The receptionist seemed slightly condescending rather than helpful. I also booked breakfast, and the staff at the restaurant seemed rude. We were told "sit anywhere" rather than being guided to a table, which seemed a bit odd considering COVID-19, you would think that the staff would be more concerned on where their customers were sitting. We were also not informed the breakfast was a buffet where you could collect your own food, or what was on offer. It would have been nice to have some assistance and courteousy from the staff. Again, you'd think staff would have ushered customers to the buffet to maintain 2m distancing, rather than let customers reign free. Also, not that the hotel could control it, but there was significant road works outside the hotel making it somewhat hard to access. Just a point for people if they wish to visit in the near future. Overall a decent stay but I think some front of house staff training is required.

After a mistake they soon put it right. Given a room key when someone was in the room is was allocated. After 10 minutes I had my room key and some breakfast vouchers complimentary of the hotel for the inconvenience. Another nice room. Was here for work. Had a nice view too

They're demolishing it soon so it's a bit tired, but it's cheap and cheerful, with faded 80s grandeur, and pretty spacious as well. One warning - there is no air con which was fine for my visit but may not be for yours if you're reading this in July/August. And come 2022 like I said this place will be demolished, in which case this review is *definitely* irrelevant.

Budget hotel that had a few refurbishings over time. The place felt grimy and lacked air conditioning in the rooms. The location is excellent and you can walk to the business hub, Bullring and New Street Station.

Room was terribly hot and stuff. Each morning at 9am house keeping would just enter. Once told to come back later, I would get repeated calls from reception demanding to know when I would be leaving. Simplest requests were replied with attitude and effort. Great location. But poor experience. Which is a shame as it was recommended to myself.

Spent a few days here over Valentine's Day and overall it was good. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was somewhat dated but clean. It was also cold so I asked for an extra blanket. I also asked for a double room and I got two single beds... The TV turned off by itself a couple of times - something that has been mentioned in reviews previously but it doesn't look like they've done anything about it. Another thing was the bathroom "mixer" taps - well they didn't really mix so you got one side that was hot and the other cold. The towel rail in my bathroom was very rusty and the shower curtain was yellow with stains on them. The room service (Western Menu) was an interesting experience. After I pre-paid a certain amount on my order between my other half and I we had Salt and Pepper Squid, Steak with Veg, Chicken and Bacon with Risotto, Sticky Toffee Pudding and a Waffle with Caramel Sauce and Ice Cream. The food itself was really good and the timing of the service was okay. Because I pre-paid room service, they tried to charge me again on checkout even though I paid, but hopefully all will be resolved (the refund is still in progress). So essentially the food is really good, the room is somewhat clean and if you need somewhere cheap to stay and you're not too bothered about taps, I'd recommend here.

Lovely looking hotel, room was clean although slightly dated. The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately the amenities let it down, the TV wouldn't stay on for longer than a minute each time plus you had to hold the button down on the kettle for it to boil.

Staff were friendly enough. Room was a great size, facilities were good. It did need doing up however when we went the city itself was being done up and that included the hotel. I would like to return when it's all shiny and new to see how they would've liked it as in it's current state it's a bit of a mess. A lot of the furniture was falling apart. However it was a pleasant enough stay for the 3 days we were there. We went to a gig in the city so it was really only a bed for a night and it definitely covered that!

Ricky on reception was fantastic, very friendly and really helpful. As where the breakfast staff. Unfortunately i did have some issues with the room dirty bedding, filthy room, hair dryer didn't work in the room, very noisy as it's right next to building work. Had to change my room key multiple times as they didn't work. Hotel definitely needs up dating, rooms aren't great and the carpets are even worse. Room service trays being left outside people's rooms on multiple occasions for well over 12 hours with our being moved. Overall not a great experience.

Stayed at this hotel for one night only. It is situated right in the centre of town, very close to restaurants, stores and the main train station. It was a comfortable enough stay, beds were soft and cosy. The room is quite spacious and has a little writing desk, mini fridge, TV and a window that opens. The bathroom is cramped and the door is quite narrow and does not open all the way wide so it was a bit of a pain to wrangle your way in and out of and we were only given 1 bath towel, even though there were 2 of us. Walls are also extremely thin between the rooms, so every noise is heard from neighbors. I even heard the guest next door using their toilet! A very old fashioned hotel in need of some redecorating. Staff are very friendly and there is a great bar and restaurant downstairs, although a little pricey. Overall, perfect for a short and simple stay.
