Rooms are nice, clean & spacious. (I stayed in a club room). Staff are nice enough, not over friendly but fine. Restaurant lacks atmosphere and the menu is limited. 4 mains to choose from if you don't want some sort of burger. Or 3 on the night we stayed. One item wasn't available even though we dined early. Which basically left a salad a fish cake or some pasta to choose from. The food was nice enough but when the bread came out we weren't given any plates so had to eat it off the table. I'd have asked for a plate but we were ignored when I tried. Overall our stay lacked the kind of wow factor I would have expected from this chain. We left underwhelmed with no interest in returning.

A great first stay at Malmaison. Upgraded after securing online standby upgrade for a reduced price. Room was great but there was only 1 large towel for 2 of us and it smelt Think it was a new smell but to me smelt like sick. Not a pleasant experience after a refreshing shower. Some of the paintwork on doors was also damaged giving it a dated look.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff and great food. Rooms are spacious and modern. Only slight disappointment would be that the car park is a not attached and the 20% discount on parking that we were given didn't register on the ticket machine.

Came for partners birthday, not impressed unfortunately. Check in was great, staff lovely. When entering the room there was an empty bottle of wine from previous guests, hairs in jacuzzi. Room was extremely warm, air con wasn't great, woke up stuffy. Unhelpful room service staff. Partner spoke to a member of staff the next day regarding a separate issue, and she had no interest in trying to help whatsoever.

Malmaison is what every hotel, as a basic standard, should be like! Everything from checking in to checking out was superb. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet. Room service was quick and flexible with requests. The location was only a 3 minute walk from the city centre, but tucked away enough that you don't feel so close to the hustle and bustle. The bar and restaurant area makes you feel torn between going out on the town or just staying within the grounds and having an equally good time ! I was hoping to sample their spa to relax over the two nights, but it was fully booked. Nonetheless, I didn't need it. I returned home so much more relaxed than when I left, despite journeying to and from London by train.

Great hotel with very good facilities. All staff super polite and helpful. The room was lovely, lots of space, very clean. Some interesting art around the hotel. Only dropped a star for the cooked breakfast. Eggs Benedict and the full English both weren’t the best. The rest of the breakfast and service though was very good. Happy to stay here again.

Just had a spa package including afternoon tea at the brasserie. Sonny served us and was brilliant, good recommendation and suggestions for cocktails. Then at the spa the massage and facial was super relaxing, very professional staff and advice from my therapist Katrina. A perfect afternoon!

The room was amazing and comfortable. Breakfast included (you can get free breakfast or pay £3 to upgrade - I got the upgrade). You get free wine the day you check in. My only downside was finding the place. The sign was too small, we walked past it. But overall, it was a great experience.

Ive always wanted to experience a stay at a Mal Maison and it really didn't disappoint. It's a central location and in the pouting rain I was dropped right outside thankfully. Staff were helpful in changing my Brassierie booking for me. I was worried as the bar music was so loud but the brasserie is still an intimate spot for couples, family or solo dining. It was super busy this weekend due to the annual cocktail weekend! I know right. I'll post separately for the Brasserie but here is the reception and room 🥰

It was a wonderful overnight stay Staff were all friendly and helpful from check in to check out The room was lovely, full of all the amenities needed including a fridge to keep drinks cool The bed was VERY comfortable With parking right next door a big bonus. If travelling by train. Just a short walk from New Street Station Will DEFINITELY visit again

Rooms great, although please improve pillows. The problem is there is absolutely zero sound proofing. I heard the lift every time it was called through the night. Provide free earplugs as the bare minimum.

Chloe from the spa helped me out with ease and sorted all of my queries, leaving me with peace of mind. Amazing, fast, service with quick replies through email. Couldn't recommend enough

The best hotel we stayed at our entire time in the UK. Friendly staff, great breakfast (finally tried black pudding), clean, comfortable and spacious rooms. Convenient location, not just to Victoria Square, but also to the canal works behind the mall, which are an underrated and enjoyable stroll. Highly recommended.

Good location, average room, unfortunately there were some very noisy guests talking loudly & banging doors during night. There were some technical issues at the hotel - problem getting our room key card to work & then having to provide email proof that our breakfast was included.

It felt like a 4 star hotel. The rooms are nice, comfy beds but nothing special. Our tap leaked and therefore got everything on our skin wet constantly. Breakfast was good quality and good choice. The staff are very friendly and nice but not 5 star service. Good location, close to train stations and plenty of shopping and restaurants. They offered us an eco clean as we were staying two nights which meant we had our towels changes, bins emptied and beds made but kept the sheets, in exchange we got a voucher for £7.50 each off a drink in the bar. I think this is a fantastic idea!

I booked some of the conference rooms for a business team event for 75 people. We had great service from the team right from the point of signing up right through to the day itself and on the day. Room great, AV support fantastic, lunch buffet catering superb including thoughtful consideration for dietary requirements. I was very impressed. I was the event organiser and it was just so easy to work with the team. Highly recommended!

We do normally stay in this hotel whenever we are in birmingham as its dog friendly and its Location , we normally stay on 5th or 6th floor how ever this time we were on the 3rd floor and Omg the amount of noise from the house keepers and even the people was horrendous . We could not sleep till 4 am as my dog was keep barking at the door from noises ! Rooms are ok nothing to fancy but this time my experience was not the best as I had 0 sleep. Elika

I booked a room with low rate one month ago thru Travel Planet for my company business stay. I have got the hotel voucher and confirmation. When I went to the hotel front desk today, I was told that there was no confirmation number. Totally rubbish! The staff at the front desk were very poor manner. I will report to the Malmaison Group.

Location is great! Less than 5min walk from the station, q-park next door and a lovely little shopping centre connected on.

Really nice, I was pleasantly surprised all round. Only slight criticism is the veggie sausages are the broccoli carrot and sweetcorn type (not nice). It won't stop me returning and you can't beat the location.

They room was lovely and clean. Room sevice was quick. The gym was clean and had everything I needed to workout. Also literally next door to the Mailbox. Short walk from New Street Station and the Bull Ring shopping centre. They validated my parking ticket as I parked in the Q-Park Mailbox. Overall great experience. Definitely would recommend.

Really lovely one night stay made excellent by the friendly nature of all the staff we spoke to throughout the hotel. The fact that they actually seem to enjoy working here really shines through, beyond the levels you expect to find in hospitality and front of house. Location is also excellent, 5 minutes walk from New Street Station and 10 minutes from a wide range of shopping and eating opportunities.

For £250 a night the room was small and the decor very dark with bad lighting. Small windows looking over the back of the hotel. The room service was ok. However for that price the very least I expect is complimentary water but nope. Stayed in better for much less inc London and other major cities. Won't be rushing back.

Possibly the best hotel I've stayed, although I'm used to more budget ones, so there isn't much competition. The room was very spacious and had plenty of room for storage, the shower was very easy to use compared to others I've used in hotels, checking in and out was a breeze and the bed was super comfortable. I also had room service order, and it was delicious. I ordered the Chez Mal burger with fries and whilst the burger was very nice, the fries were most likely the best I've ever had. One minor issue was the desk, which had a metal rim that stuck up slightly. I banged my elbow pretty hard on it which wasn't great, but I think it was more me being clumsy than anything else. Overall, a great place to stay and in close proximity to Birmingham Grand Central, and if I do find myself in Birmingham again, I will be sure to stay here once more.

Hotel was lovely, clean, hotel is eco friendly and welcoming reception was pleasant and more than helpful settling us in for our stay. The bar experience was awful. The staff made us feel we had inconvenienced them when asking what drinks were available. This poor attitude continued during our stay in the bar with all 4 either slumped over the bar, on phones, blatantly watching a group of visitors leave the premises and then proceeding to laugh amongst themselves at the customers expense. It is absolutely not the 4 star experience you promote and sadly just that small part of your hotel offering let the whole thing down and would not encourage us to ever want to book again. Conversely our experience at the Malmaison in Newcastle upon Tyne was wonderful and polls apart from the Birmingham experience.

I really like this hotel, it is amazing when me and my partner stay when he has a business trip. However, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to a club room as there isn't really any extra that you recieve than if you had just stayed in a normal room. The major positives for this hotel is there is a free spa area with a sauna, jacuzzi and steam room which is very relaxing. I also get breakfast every time I stay here as the options for the buffet are amazing and the hot chocolates are so tasty, overall it is a great experience but only just lost the one star due to the club room not really being worth the extra money.

Nice room and facilities but some finishing touches let it down. Bathroom door didn't close; noisy rooms near elevators; poor vegan choices on the menu - some available when asked but overpriced compared to meat options; gym machines not plugged in.

Staff were friendly, bed was good for one night, room decor was decent but felt like they had forgotten to update the bathroom? Bathroom had black mould round the bathtub and in the corner of the tiling where the floor met the bath… just gave it that unclean feeling

As usual, a lovely stay, super comfortable bed, spacious room, the rooms are nice and quiet which is great for a city centre hotel. Had a game getting the toiletries out of the bottles and the floor layouts are a little confusing! Breakfast was exceptional, served by the nicest staff, plenty of it, not rushed at all, full of flavour. Great service from check in to check out including a late ish drink in the bar! The location is ideal for exploring the city, leave through the back of the Mailbox and and your canalside with some great bars and eateries then on to Brindley place etc, exit through the front and you have Grand Central five mins away, the city centre and theatres!

Great location 3 minute walk from station. Great breakfast, Friendly staff. Only downside is the bedroom lighting is too dark. My wife struggles with applying her make up in that style if lighting. Other friends have said the same

We had a full package spa experience at Malmaison Spa that included a two course lunch with proceso, spa facilities, a hot stones full body massage and a facial. The food was delicious. The service is great, everyone was very kind and made sure we felt welcome. I had a massage session with Freya, who was also very lovely and it was a pleasant experience! I would definitely recommend the hot stones massage. I loved that robes, towels and slippers were provided. The spa facilities were clean and felt very private (it is quite small). The main focus is on the actual spa treatments. Apart from that there were two saunas, a jacuzzi and a relaxation room. Overall, we had a very good time! Thank you! 😊

Stayed im the Nirvana room , we picked this room for the jacuzzi , we were not disappointed the room was outstanding! Spacious and clean with the main feature being the tub. Staff were friendly and helpful , breakfast in the morning was lovely too , very close to the bull ring centre, would definitely go back 😁

Staff are well trained and extremely friendly, the rooms are neat, clean and well kept. The breakfast is amazing, a small but effective gym. Located centrally and a walking distance to the shops and malls.

Staff were amazing, after terrible experience at the cube, the staff couldn’t do enough to help get our break back on track, Ricky and Abby on front desk were credit to the hotel. Beautiful room and stay. Would come back every time in town

Tried to call to rearrange the booking as I tested positive for covid to be told they wouldn't honour it for this reason. I said I'd be happy to pay the difference in price for another night but they still would not accept it. I find it odd they'd rather have someone there at their hotel with covid than even try to honour a call to rearrange. Spoke to a person called Ashley who sounded like she didn't even want to be working there. Rude staff and rubbish service.

Nice enough hotel in a very good location. Twin room 219 had been recently renovated and was very modern and clean. The bathroom was dated but clean. Very very good shower pressure. Great hotel to stay in for visiting the Alexandra theatre and Birmingham new street station. Parking at q-park mailbox was easy and reasonable. You can validate your parking ticket with them for a discount.

Enjoyed a couple of nights here with the family. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was good and the waiting staff were excellent. If I had to be picky, I didn't think that the reception staff were particularly helpful or friendly. As the public face of the hotel, this could be improved, hence four stars and not five.

Lovely one night stay. Rooms are big, bed and pillows comfortable and general ambiance very calming. Cooked breakfast though small was good quality and fresh. Coffee machine during breakfast was very good. The location is 7min walk from new street station and the main city area. The car park is expensive however but there are some cheaper alternatives nearby. I highly recommend this hotel.
