I have stayed in many Hilton and normally no complaints but i would definitely not give this one more than a 3 star. The rooms are very small and basic and the breakfast is lower than average. The only good thing is the location for concert.

Nice place to stay, location is within a nice area surrounded by restaurants. Good rooms, there's to say that many new hotels have much modern facilities but the quality here is great and give a nice staying. Amazing staff, very polite and friendly, always available to accommodate any request and need. Definitely suggested if staying for work or pleasure.

Excellent customer service nothing was too much trouble even down to checking if my car was going to be charged clean air fee as I hadn't seen this before. Room very clean and bed and pillows especially comfortable room with a window and air con/heater too. Breakfast was good too buffet style all hot and tasty especially the coffee

Stayed with work. The room was grubby, there was a squashed fly on the wall, carpets need a good clean, some outlets didn’t work, mattress was noisy and hard, hairdryer was broken and when I asked for a new one they forgot to bring one, then as I was leaving I got my suitcase wheel stuck in the revolving door, shouted over for assistance to the receptionist but got blanked, even after she looked right at me and saw the situation. I only managed to get out after another guest came to help. Lobby area is much nicer than the rooms so don’t be deceived. Location is decent but wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

I have a lovely time at this hotel. The bedding was really good quality, I had four pillows ranging between medium to firm. A mini fridge, ironing board and iron- literally everything one needed for a successful business trip. Even flannels in the bathroom on top of the usual trimmings. But best of all was the breakfast. There was a really good variety and a station where you can have your eggs made to order. Delicious! Highly recommended.

Hotel was in a great location. Reception area is lovely. However the rooms are small. The room was clean and had everything you'd need for a night or two. Staff were nice. Quite expensive for what you get though.

A slightly frustrating stay because of the arrival experience. Although the room was guaranteed for 15:00, it wasn’t ready at that time and I was asked to take a seat in reception. This was awkward as I’d banked on being able to be in the room from the guaranteed check-in time to take a private phone call. The weirdest thing was that reception told me the delay was because, as a Diamond Member, I’d been upgraded, but during my time sat in reception I watched non-Honors members check in to the exact same room type even though I’d been told none were available for me to check in to.

Stayed here for a show at the nearby utilita arena, location perfect and hotel was great, really enjoyed our stay, clean room and reasonably priced too!! Breakfast was lovely too, overall a great stay. Only negative is that there was no A/C In our room. Even though the temperature outside wasn't that hot the room was. We asked for a fan at reception which was provided and put in our room when we were at the show. Staff also very friendly. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent hotel considering the price. I was impressed at how friendly and charming the staff were. The room was spotless, and breakfast was great (considering breakfast at UK hotels is modest at best). The fitness room, although small, had top-of-the-line equipment. Overall, a fantastic experience, and will visit again if I ever come back to Birmingham.

Everything was fine until we had to cut our work trip short for another emergency and was told we would have had to report our 1 day early departure on the day of arrival. Not really how emergencies work. Never experienced this at any other Hilton property and we are all Diamond members.

Stayed last year and went back this as we did finals day. Cannot fault the hotel, staff or the food and the location is ideal. Nice walk to the stadium and for the extra time there great places to go. Would definitely recommend

The rooms are very small and dated. Definitely requires a touch of paint. Not what I expected from a Hilton. Staff were friendly, but no one asked how was your room. Great location to Brinkley place. Parking available nearby which can be pre booked. It's around £20 for 24hrs. The hotel offers a discount.

Really friendly, helpful staff. My wife is disabled and staff changed the room for a disabled friendly room, without us having to ask. Nothing was too much trouble. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Will definitely book again, when visiting Birmingham.

It's a really nice Hotel, it's pet friendly (we came with our dog and had a wonderful stay) and it's well located. Services are good (gym, restaurant, breakfast) but it does not have the type of facilities you expect from a 4 stars hotel (a bit noisy, expensive fee for room service, no spa, no pool). Really nice and super recommendable 3.5 stars hotel.

Great location, fabulously friendly and helpful staff. However, the showers on the 3rd floor kept blasting ridiculously hot water out sporadically! I mentioned this and they changed my room, but it seems it's a fault all over the 3rd floor as my collagues all had the same problem. Without that issue, It would have been given 5 stars.

The staff was friendly and very helpful during our entire stay. Globally, it is a great hotel situated in a convenient location. However, the rooms are a bit outdated, especially the bathrooms, and the carpets needs to be changed ( numerous stains). You can see the contrast between the modern communal areas and the rooms. I would personally except a bit more for a 4 stars hotel, but overall it was a pleasant stay.

Fab location Easy to find Had to park at five ways as hotel carpark was full. Had some complimentary drinks vouchers.. tried to use them when we got back.. expired at midnight! We were not told that! Breakfast mediocre, Bar quite expensive £7.50 per 500ml bottle of rekorderlig and 2 x 330ml peroni and 1 coke £15.50. Staff really friendly. Rooms.. kettle etc, fridge and iron and ironing board with all body washes etc In the bathroom. Would stay again... but not drink in the bar!!

Great hotel. Wonderful staff. Stayed here the first time nearly eight years ago and several times since. Close to good food, shopping, nightlife, etc.

Enjoyed our visit and would like to return. Only downside no coffee served in bar after 10pm also very tight entrance into and out of underground car park. Certainly doesn't cater for guests with a larger vehicle.

Was in the hotel for a weekend stay with friends when visiting Birmingham. The hotel was very nice, but the rooms felt a little older and less stylish compared to the reception though. The cherry on top was the service that a staff member named Cristina provided us. She helped us out at every step of the way: gave us useful information on where to go, but what to do and she helped us out if we needed anything when calling the reception. She was very friendly, professional and just overall great. I think she needs a raise!

A brief business staff in the centre of Birmingham. Parking right next door is easy and the staff on reception were great. Room was okay, with a broken tv, but everything else was fine. Evening meal was good with the staff dealing with my request for a different menu option with no issue. Wifi works great.

Had our menopause away day here. The meeting/conference room was a good comfortable size.. It was private to our group. Dining area was spacious, and clean. Equipment supplied was in perfect working order. Staff were at hand for when they were needed, they were polite and friendly.

I really enjoyed my stay. The double room is pretty standard in layout but what stood out was the amount of daylight coming in - a refreshing change after the last couple of hotels I have stayed in. I used the fitness centre in the morning and the equipment was new, clean and fully working plus there was a large tv to watch. Front of house staff were friendly and helpful and I bumped into a manager in the lift who took the time to ask how my stay was and check to see if there was anything I needed. Lots of space in the hotel and the restaurant was exactly what you need.

Ideal location for the Utilita Arena with car park very close. Very warm and friendly welcome from receptionist. Room was clean & tidy, comfortable bed and pillows, air con, etc. However, extremely overpriced for what you get!! We booked a room here due to availability but the price for the following Saturday night was less than half of what we paid - which we can only assume was due to the fact that there was a big gig on. £285 for one night (didn't even include breakfast - that would be an extra £12 so we gave it a miss) vs £105 the following week. A little variation is fair enough, but we were expecting more for a nearly £300/night stay.

Great location. Paid extra for a "room with a view" - the view was of another building. Bed was very lumpy and I could hear the springs everytime I moved. Rubbish nights sleep. Reported to front desk to which she replied "sorry". Rest of the hotel and room was fine.

Great location if you are going to an event at Utilia Arena - less than 5 mins walk. Rooms are an average size and are clean. I had an accessible room and it was okay for accessibility but no built in stool in the shower. We had a double bed and a roll away for three people and they were all comfy on the firmer side. Good price too.

Overall experience was excellent. Christine on reception was amazing, very friendly and helpful, lovely to chat with her. The hotels communal areas are brilliant, lots of seating in the reception area and bar, there’s several office spaces and quiet areas too. The location is excellent, about 20 mins from city centre and located in a nice area of bars like The Alchemist, Pitcher and Piano etc. Makes an excellent hub if planning a few drinks locally. The restaurant was what you can expect from a hotel, food was good, a little overpriced but you pay for the convenience of an actually decent, fresh meal on your doorstep. The 2 waitresses that were on the evening of our stay (Thursday 6th April) were very friendly and helpful, excellent service from them. Breakfast was excellent, absolutely no complaints, Hilton’s Garden Inns are definitely one of the best breakfasts around, and this one was well managed. Everything had ample amounts out at all times. For those who are yet to try Garden Inn breakfasts, you must! It’s definitely one of the most comprehensive hotel breakfasts with fresh waffle maker, great selection of pastries, fresh omelettes to order, iced teas etc. The room it’s self is quite dated, and wasn’t the cleanest. The carpet was in a pretty bad condition, we potentially would have moved rooms but couldn’t be bothered with the inconvenience.

Celebrated our Christmas party there last night, with Nexus fostering. The event rooms were clean, tidy and very tastefully decorated. Tables were set out beautifully too. 10 out of 10 for the Christmas meal. So compliments to the chefs, every course was Delicious Music and atmosphere was also fantastic, we really did enjoy our event. Well done to all the staff who was working very hard to make our experience pleasurable. Regards Mr E Kelly-Roche Mr C Kelly-Roche

Welcoming and friendly staff at reception. Communal areas and rooms are a little tired but generally clean so can't complain really. We had breakfast which was okay, sausages and bacon a bit dry and chewy. Bar was nice albeit a little expensive. Parking at Q-park very close by only a 2 minute walk.

Perfect location for a visit to Birmingham. Just a few minutes from the Utilita Arena, the sea life centre and the canal. A short walk to Broad Street and The Bull Ring. The hotel is clean and welcoming, staff very friendly and the breakfast is great. Having a bookable, secure car park on site is an extra bonus for convenience.

They said bar would close at 11 but when many residents arrived back after a Genesis concert at 10.45 they were closed. There was a large queue for breakfast and even when you got in you had to wait some time for food to be replenished. Not enough staff. They did not check anyone to see if they had paid for breakfast so there were possibly some freeloaders? Lovely hotel and room but level of service poor.

Room was dirty, shower head was broken, shower tray filled up with water! The bed was good 👍 Breakfast was a joke, I understand we've been in a pandemic but for £200 for one night, I expected more.

Two nights here. Really like this hotel. Room was good, with a view from the sixth floor down to the square. Clean, comfortable, and in the right place for restaurants, bars, and a walk around the old canals. Staff pleasant and welcoming and happy to help with any questions. Breakfast was fine, and if you book it first you'll get it cheaper than if you just walk in. Brindley Place is busy so don't expect a completely quiet stay, but sound proofing in room was good enough to keep out most of the noise so had no trouble sleeping.

The hotel foyer is nicely decorated, clean and tidy. The rooms are a bit on the small side, other chain hotels I've stayed in have had bigger double rooms. The staff were welcoming, breakfast was not of a high standard, missing items and no signs or details about freshly cooked items, it didn't come across as well organised, hence only 3 stars instead of 4.

Stay was nice, buffet breakfast let the hotel down due to no one policing sanatisation on way into dining room area. Should be table service because of covid situation

One night stay for a gig at the Utilata Arena. Nice room, very clean and good sanitizing throughout. Buffet breakfast a bit sporadic with supplies and a pot of tea rather than machines would be nicer.....maybe that's just me though!

  • 3/5 Gareth N. 2 years ago on Google
Staff were all pleasant and rooms was clean and tidy and spacious. Randomly had a disabled room though which was odd! Breakfast was very disappointing and reason score is so low. Most of it was cold, sausages were rubbery, hash browns were soft.

Great location and friendly check-in staff. Room very small and bathroom tiny and only offered tiny body wash and body cream for 2 people. Breakfast was awful and glasses dirty. Flora also runny when opened. Stayed at the Hilton across the road a few years ago and much higher standards.

Loved this hotel. It was very professional and the staff were polite. Upon arrival, me and my partner got a complimentary upgrade to a (think it was queen size room?). Great location next to the arena and sealife centre. I would stay again.

Had really high expectations as we were told we had a room with a view. Turns out the view was Brindley Place. Room was pretty standard, nothing outstanding. Facilities in the room (King size) were a little tired. Tea station had only tea and coffee. No hot chocolate or little biscuits like you get in other hotels of similar class. On a positive note the breakfast was outstanding

  • 3/5 Jamie B. 2 years ago on Google
Although a Hilton it's below the standard of a Premier Inn in terms of decor, staff training and breakfast. Bathrooms are tired. No glasses or mugs with tea and coffee facilities. Beds are not comfortable. Location is good but worth the price and compromise? Not certain.

  • 4/5 Graham T. 1 year ago on Google
Great location and well run hotel. The rooms are a little basic in comparison to other Hilton’s but this is a smaller space and they’ve used what they have. Nice entrance and easy parking (Q Park next door). Restaurant/dining for breakfast was as you’d expect but nothing to write home about. Staff were excellent. The fitness room is just that. A room. Some dumbbells, a bench, and some running machines and a static bike. It’ll do for a one night stay tho. Good hotel. Would I go back? To be honest I might look at others but as I use the Hilton Honours app I’ll probably go back for ease of booking plus the parking and location is good.

  • 4/5 Richard T. 2 years ago on Google
Good location and walkable to lots of food and drinks and friendly staff. Negatives: -parking is really expensive and it is difficult to get there and avoid an emissions zone charge. -the rooms could use some TLC: door stops missing, faucets rusty and worn, shower dingy. Small stuff, but the door stop missing rubber did result in a stubbed toe and a bit of blood.

A typically nice Hilton hotel with friendly staff. The nearby car park is a little expensive, but the surrounding area is very nice as are the rooms in the hotel. The gym was also well stocked and tidy. With Broad Street only a stone's throw away finitely, this is definitely a good place to stay if you're visiting Birmingham.

Although rooms are spacious with expected facilities there were some issues. The room was cold and the fridge warm. I tried all the settings for the heating but I had to wear a jacket. The bed was hard and what I thought sleeping on a bale of hay might feel like. There was also pounding music which just went on and on. No written information had to keep using the qr code. No number for room service food/drink that I found.

We had chosen room 128 directly above the bar area but this wasn’t shown on the hotel app. If only reception had informed us when getting our key that it would be noisy until 12am, we could have chosen a room on a higher floor. I asked why we weren’t informed on check out and was told we should have been told and the bar area does get noisy. Why is the music so loud? As soon as you enter the hotel it’s like your in a night club yet bar area is very small! Our bed was lumpy, we didn’t get a comfortable sleep. My friends had no hot water to shower on morning of check out. Informed reception and was told” what do you want me to do about it” what terrible customer service. My Friend is a manager in a hotel and asked for a refund, they offered 25% discount which was acceptable but wasn’t impressed with how guests are treated. What’s happened to customer service? Our room was clean and we were happy but elsewhere in public areas Covid procedures were poor. On 17th Dec in the evening I asked receptionist for more tea, coffee, sugar & milk and was given a handful….what about covid procedures? No bag/cup for me to carry the items. I had no bag or pockets on me. On 18th Dec as Omicron variant was spreading we would expect the hotel to have put in better covid measures. Not all staff from the kitchen coming into breakfast room wore masks. One member of staff was carrying scrambled eggs on a plate with no cover on plate and a guest with no mask walked by them and coughed onto the plate. Eggs were still taken to the dish for guests to eat! Not sure if anti viral cleaner was being used in public area as it wasn’t pink like the ones all hotels use. Where was the information for guests to reassure us that covid procedures were in place in the public areas? This is the second time I’ve stayed at a Hilton hotel and there seemed to be very poor covid procedures in place. Breakfast buffet was slow to restock not sure if this was due to low staff levels. Perhaps table service would be better as there was no system in place for one way route, no hand sanitisers, everyone touching same serving spoons. Coffee wasn’t anything special typical basic machine tasting coffee. Take your own and use hot water. All the food we ate at breakfast was good quality but after seeing a guest cough on the eggs taken to refill I’m not sure about the hygiene standards here. I’d advise only stay here as so close to Utilita Arena and bars/restaurants although rates are not cheap there maybe better hotels nearby. Check room description as it’s queen/king room not queen/king beds. I’d recommend eat breakfast elsewhere as it wasn’t good value for money and we saw hygiene issues that put us off choosing to stay for breakfast again.

Good hotel in a good location. Staff are excellent and very welcoming. Small items in the room could be better maintained.

  • 3/5 Diane H. 1 year ago on Google
On arrival, this hotel looks lovely. Foyer is inviting and looks great. As is the restaurant. However, once we got to our room I felt like this was a show for the public as the room did not match what we saw on the ground floor-hence the 3 stars. It could definitely have used a make over as it all just looked a bit tired. Marks on walls, tiles needed re grouting, door handle to the bathroom was loose. Shame because otherwise I would have given more stars. Breakfast was lovely both mornings. Good choice and really fresh. Hotel is a 5 minute walk from some lovely bars and restaurants and only about a 15 minute walk from the city centre. Very quiet as it is away from the hustle and bustle.

The room was comfortable, the staff extremely helpful, the breakfast was excellent. The decor is starting to look a little worn but this didn't detract from our visit. The only major criticism was that the only way to get something to eat after 10pm was to get Uber Eats involved (something the establishment was happy for us to do). Never been somewhere where room service is between 5 and 10pm only. A great stay overall

  • 5/5 Selina G. 2 years ago on Google
Really great location, amazingly helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious and rooms are a good size and clean. Personally I found the bed quite hard but I do like a soft mattress. Other than that the room was very comfortable.

  • 2/5 Jan F. 1 year ago on Google
As a Hilton Honors member my experience here was disappointing. My daughter and I shared a twin room. It was very small with nowhere to put luggage and no seating area, other than a desk with one chair. The tv could only be watched from the bed propped up with pillows. The bathroom was also very small and had no hand soap or toothbrush glasses. The tea and coffee making facilities only contained 2 cardboard mugs. We requested more tea and ceramic mugs from reception who were very obliging. Breakfast was varied and good value (included in the room price) although the scrambled eggs were cold. The room would have been OK for one person but not two. Thank goodness we only had one night there.

  • 2/5 Matthew H. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms are decidedly low-rent; awful beds - rock hard, paper cups, no glasses in the bathroom. Staff are helpful and pleasant. The reception area is plush. The restaurant is a rip-off. There are many good quality restaurants nearby that are much better.

  • 4/5 Aaron S. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely Staff, Room was quiet and comfortable, the bathroom and shower seemed a little bit tired which is why only 4 stars. Breakfast had an excellent selection and was great. I was staying for business, it was adequate. If I was on Holiday I might be disappointed.

  • 2/5 John B. 2 years ago on Google
Not sure how this hotel maintains a 4 star rating, must have last been reviewed 15 years ago at least. As you enter the reception is very nice, but as soon as you enter the lifts everything changes. The corridors were very drab and tired, unfortunately this did not improve as you entered the room. The room was small and very outdated, there was a desk, very small (and empty) mini fridge, and a small wardrobe. The worst part was the "double bed", which was more like a three quarter bed. The bathroom was even worse than the room itself. It clearly hasn't been updated since the hotel was opened, the shower was a dribble and the head was in a fixed position that made it almost impossible to stand under. The flooring had been laid wrong, which meant that all the shower water drained onto the bedroom carpet. This was clearly a long term issue as the carpet was stained and the skirting all rotted. The only thing that saved it from being a 1 star rating was a half decent buffet breakfast. What made this all worse is its one of the more expensive hotels in the area, despite being so subpar.
