really lovely staff - Ingrid and the team did a lovely job at breakfast for us! Always plenty of food at a nice temperature, and a lot to choose from. The rooms themselves are fairly basic, but have everything you need (except an iron). Very noisy location though, had to sleep with the windows closed and could still hear the nightclubs out the back which literally shook the bed as you slept. Our radiator/air con didn’t work either, so all night, with the temperatures near 30 degrees during the day, with no air con or open windows was really humid and sweaty. Rooms are pretty small, but plenty of room to get around still, and the hotel is very central so it’s not far to get to anything thankfully. Rest of the team was also very nice and helpful! Cleaners always do an excellent job, and reception are quick to reply to any queries

Cheap and cheerful. This dog friendly hotel offers more than most IBIS I have stayed in with friendly staff and a great willingness to help. The bar wasn't the greatest with a lack of stock and the food was OK but why eat in when you can eat out in Chinatown? Parking on site is handy but very limited and comes at a price. All-in-all not a bad stay and will most likely be head back that way in the future for another great deal.

I’ve stayed in this hotel several times. Great value for money and fab location. Have to say Rajh who serves breakfast is exceptional. Great service and goes out of his way to please.

A group of us stayed here whilst attending a trade show in Birmingham NEC back in November. The hotel is in a great location only a short walk from New Street station and the bullring. Rooms are clean and comfortable and for the price paid, good value for money. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A special mention to Ingrid at breakfast who is an absolute gem and a credit to the hotel. She is super friendly, helpful, has years of experience working there so knows how to provide great customer service and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back!

Rooms are clean, but tiny. Beds aren't very comfortable. Nightclub nearby banging out music until 2am, then noisy drunk people leaving said nightclub kept us awake. Hotel staff are friendly and efficient. Ideal location for central Birmingham. Lot's of bars(nightclubs😬)restaurants within walking distance. 4☆☆☆☆

Great location. Staff super nice and helpful. Thank you Ingrid for the lovely morning smiles 😀. Room was clean but a bit small compared to other IBIS locations around the world. I hoped for better working space. Breakfast can be improved.

Room was nice enough and met all of our needs The location is perfect! Super close to the station, and within a stone's throw of China Town and the Gay Village (which for us was perfect). I only gave a 3 for service because we didn't receive much? Apart from a brief conversation whilst checking in, and a question at breakfast, staff didn't really interact with us- it's a big stretch away from other hotel brands we've been in, and ones I have worked in

Very nice hotel located in the heart of the Birmingham city centre, near Bullring and local attractions. Exceptional service in the front office, housekeeping and restaurant. Breakfast host Ingrid made me feel very special with her positive and wonderful personality. Thank you.

Great location in Birmingham but the rooms are very dated. The foyer looks like it has recently been refreshed but the rooms have had no such treatment. I always did not like the cleaning product used as it left an unpleasant smell in the rooms. The bathroom is tiny and the shower was but a mere trickle. Breakfast was very standard, my scrambled eggs were grainy. I didn't notice the sign re. eggs cooked how you like. I'd recommend that for sure.

We were greeted by the lovely staff who offered us a complimentary drink upon arrival. The lobby is large and modern with a lively yet chilled vibe going on. Check in took less than two minutes and our room was much larger than expected. Ingrid, the lady by the breakfast station was extremely polite and informative, making our mornings bright during our stay. We will be back.

One of the reasonably priced central Birmingham hotels that still manages to be consistently clean, comfortable and practical. It is great to be able to park underneath the building - a rare thing in this town. The staff are friendly and on the ball. The location is also very close to New Street station and every city highlight is within walkable distance. The large double bed was very comfortable and the shower and loo in the small, clean bathroom worked well. It may be quite old now, but this characterful Ibis has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and (deep joy) you can open both the bedroom and bathroom windows for natural air and the gentle sounds of this fab city. Loved my stay!

Very good location. The reception looks nice, but facilities in hotel room is simple and a little bit old style. There were some small marks on bathroom door. I didn't feel it have been cleaned properly. I stayed 3 nights. The first 2 nights stayed in a room near pub, very noisy. Music didn't stop until 4am ish. One of the staffs finally managed to help me change to another room for the last night. I had very good sleep at the last night. They have quieter rooms which are facing another road. If someone have to stay there. Better ask in advance. For the people who don't mind about noises, this hotel should be fine.

The location is good. The price is good. The rooms are good for the price. Suspicious, isn't it? Well, there is a significant trade-off. EXTREME noise all night (presumably only during the weekend). You will not sleep. There is a night club just under the windows. They are blasting music all night. This should be illegal. I am on the third floor, 2 layers of windows closed shut. And water on my bedside table is vibrating with the beats of the music. This is insane. If i knew this, i wouldn't stay here. This is only a good place to stay at if you plan to party until 5am and sleep during the day. Or if you're visiting during the week days (Mon-Thu). Otherwise, STAY AWAY! Seriously, when walking past the club, i think that i have never heard louder music. Ever. Even at concerts being in the mosh pit... You've been warned. Edit: Well, apparently they do have a loud noise warning on the website. I will be increasing my rating since it seems to be my fault for not checking the website. If they openly warn against this, i really have nothing to complain about!

Loved the location in China Town. Not far from the train station. Walking distance from all the shopping amenities. Hotel staff nice but little interaction as they do more than one role. They are friendly and helpful. The bar is costly. Didn't eat anything so cannot comment

We stayed for a couple of nights for a business trip. The room was adequate, only issue was that it was quite stuffy but difficult to keep window open with curtain shut and my room key didn’t always work. Car park is restrictive but we were lucky to find a space. Staff were always helpful and I have to give Ingrid a shout out for being particularly friendly, we had a lovely chat at breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to encounter several people who went out of their way to be helpful in Birmingham, not always the case in large cities.

Very good for the price. Lobby well decorated, staff very friendly. Rooms are dated but comfortable and good for the price. Nightclub opposite our room but the double windows blocked out most of the noise so it didn't disturb us. Breakfast was great, good selection of hot and cold food. Lots of different jams and cereals too. I would stay again.

It's a nice hotel and staff were helpful. We arrived earlier than the official check in time but were allowed to park in the underground car park before check in which was a bonus. Getting in to the car park is a challenge as the entrance is narrow and on an angle and if you have a large car finding a suitably sized space might be a challenge. Unless you are use to manoeuvring your vehicle in tight spaces you might be better off parking in the carpark a short walk away. However parking in the underground car park is safe and only cost £15 for 24 hours. We had booked 2 twin rooms - one of of which was designated as 'quiet' which it might be, but not on a Saturday night. Room 145 was clean, well presented and the beds comfortable. The bathroom was clean, towels spotlessly white, shower/shampoo provided and the water hot. There wasn't much sleep to be had as this hotel is in the heart of party central which doesn't stop until 5am and then you have the party goers shouting etc as they make their way home. It was a long night! Room 144 was even worse as that room overlooks party central and was apparently horrendous. It's a brilliant location for exploring Birmingham City so it might be worth putting up with the noise for a night or two. If you pay with a credit card check your statement as Ibis managed to charge me twice! Apparently it was my fault as I had cancelled two rooms booked at the non-refundable price which wasn't the case. I tried to sort it over the phone but was told to email. On receipt of the email the Ibis refunded the money in full.

Close to New Street Station, easy to find, very close to the Hippodrome and good restaurants. Clean and comfortable. Unfortunately we couldn't get to sleep until after 3am when a neighbouring nightclub had stopped blaring music. Worth bearing in mind if such music keeps you awake. We stayed over on a Thursday to Friday.

The room was very warm(fan provided) and we had to pay clean air tax.. that's just the bad.. the good is Amazing location, so much choice to eat dinner and hang out. Staff was beyond accommodating and super friendly. Recommend!

  • 2/5 Sylva H. 2 years ago on Google
You pay for the location which is great if you are there for clubs and possibly shopping. Although, it seems some efforts have been made to sound proof against the the music from the club scene below, I wouldn't recommend if you want a good night's sleep. Breakfast wasn't the best. Again this is me judging on value for money. However, staff was friendly and helpful.

Booked through my work provider. Lovely modern lobby and restaurant bar area but the double room was small, air con did not work properly and extremely noisy so could not open windows. Sink was blocked and shower head leaked. Altogether really disappointed for the room rate being charged but such a shame as the location is good and the staff are keen. Investment required to bring the rooms to standard. Suggest you book elsewhere - I would not stay at this Ibis again until things improve.

Room was fine, but it took us ages to find the building as it's nowhere near the station. We had arrived by train. The first member of staff we spoke to at New Street Station had never heard of it, but advised us to 'Ask Dave', which we did, and he pointed us in the right direction! Could do with a map displayed prominently at New Street Station to help waifs and strays like us!! It was a nice buffet breakfast the following morning.

The room was nice enough, very clean and pleasant. The only issue was the noise, we couldn't get to sleep properly until around 4am due to the clubs right outside the window. Probably not as much of an issue on nights that aren't a Friday or a Saturday. The noise can't be helped by the hotel but it's probably worth noting if you're looking to be able to sleep a full night.

We had excellent service from Rob right walking into the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, he even offered to go out to get me some dairy alternative milk for breakfast. We were able to book into our rooms almost two hours earlier than the actual checkin time, which was really helpful. Apart from a slight house keeping issue with a not so clean floor in the room, this was a great place to stay. walking in. We were able to book into our rooms almost two hours earlier than actual checkin

Rooms and corridors are well-kept, staff are very willing to help, and the bar is excellent for a few cocktails or the like. Unfortunately the kitchen is a let-down; an hour's wait for a toasted sandwich and chipsone night, the next not only cold but in fact chilled Mushy peas with a fish and chips that had more oil than batter on the fish. I could easily have used those peas to cool my drink they were that frosty. Service - 10/10 Rooms - 8/10 Food - just eat out.

Decent and well priced, the hotel is ideally situated for the train station, shops. I was here for a concert at the O2 institute, a short walk away . I didn't pay the extra for breakfast but the room was ok for the prices. Small but clean and comfortable. The thick windows kept the noise out. What looked like a preformed, plastic bathroom was small but clean and all I needed for the one night Easy check in with plenty of staff. No real check-in desk but system worked really well

We stayed in Birmingham for one night for the commonwealth games and the Ibis couldn’t have been closer to Smithfield where the event was. When we arrived, we had a lovely surprise and was told we were guests of the day, which meant free breakfast and a drink at the bar. Upon entering our room, we also had chocolate truffles waiting for us, a lovely touch. The room itself was very compact and tired looking, but for what we needed it for, it was perfectly fine and suited us. There was air con in the room which was handy as it was such a muggy day! The breakfast was lovely and we couldn’t fault it. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and pleasant, Ingrid made an extra effort at breakfast to chat to us. We will definitely stay here again!

I recently stayed at Ibis Hotel near Birmingham New Street Station and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The most important factor to highlight is the great service I received from all team members I encountered throughout my stay - they were all super friendly and attentive. The room and it’s amenities are of a suitable standard for the price, the breakfast was great with a decent variety of vegetarian options, and the bar and seating area is comfortable and spacious. All in all, I would recommend to opt for this hotel when visiting Birmingham or accommodating friends or family that are visiting you in Birmingham if you wish for quality service at a conveniently located hotel with a decent room and amenities at a reasonable price.

Fantastic stay while I was here over the weekend for a stag do. Rob and Sam I think it was who checked me in where here all weekend and friendly every time they saw us. Made me feel welcomed, as well as the rest of the staff. The rooms where clean and fresh and towels were changed every day by the house keepers which was nice having a shower in the morning. Did not have breakfast while I was here but smelt good every time I came down to the lobby We come back again. No problem

Ingrid was warm and chatty and made us feel really welcome. All the staff were helpful, the room was clean and the breakfast pastries were something else! So delicious! Very loud nightclub outside each night but if the windows are closed you can’t really hear it.

Stayed here for the Test match with my Grandpa. Close to the train station and places to eat with a short stroll to Edgbaston. Rooms were nice and clean and a good price too. Slight issue with our key card that was resolved immediately. Breakfast every morning was perfect. Full English, cereals, and pastries always fresh, available, and cooked perfectly. Vivian did a great job looking after us all. Would definitely stay here again and can’t recommend it enough.

2 stars because the reception staff were really friendly. Upon check in it seems everything was good until the mugs for the tea were inspected to be dirty and clearly the previous guests did not clean them well after using. The toilet bowl was not cleaned in detail which was quite upsetting. Fine, but just before sleeping the pillow cases were stained with blood! So disgusting and so disappointed!

The room is very compact but does the job. The beds were quite comfy. The bathroom was ok for me but would be really awkward for a larger or taller person. My main gripe is the severe lack of power outlets, especially near the beds. Overall however, it did the job and the hotel is very conveniently situated which was my main priority. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent, if booked the night before the price is reasonable for a full cooked breakfast buffet, drinks, and plenty of other options like cereal, fruit and pastries.. The staff were again friendly and helpful. Thank you Ingrid for helping me with the vegan breakfast options.

Great location and the room was clean and comfortable with secure parking . My only issues are that i was not offered help with my luggage when i was really struggling to carry it, the bathroom and shower was very cramped and the breakfast wasn't particularly hot. However the lady who was working on the breakfast shift was absolutely lovely! Waved us goodbye when we left and made the atmosphere alot better.

We have been coming to the hotel for over a year now on regular trips. The hotel has always been clean and rooms of a good standard for the price. Some noise from the local area outside at night but nothing crazy. The main reason we keep coming back to the same is because of an amazing member of the team, Ingrid. Nothing is too much for her and she always welcomes you with a great smile. Helps out with diet requirements over breakfast and always stops to ensure everything is okay! She’s an absolute asset to the Ibis and we hope to keep seeing her!
