First time here but I think I will come back. It's not perfect, and I leave five stars simply for its location - yeah it's just awesome! You can enjoy a walk along the canal where you can find beautiful views and almost endless coffee, restaurants and pubs. Hotel staff are overall good, although I do hope the staff at the reception counter could have been a little more welcoming. As a three star hotel, the room decorations and everything else is more than good, although I would appreciate better room maintenance.

We stayed for 1 night on a Sunday after visiting friends in the city. The hotel is very well located with easy access to city centre bars and restaurants, but the positives end there. We were extremely disappointed to find paper cups in the room that were dirty, which meant that they obviously had not been replaced. We called down to reception and were promised that more would be sent up but they never came. The standard of cleaning more generally was not up to scratch with some small black spots on the duvet cover and hair on the bath mat. This is not acceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be 4 star standard.

It claims to be a hotel but its basically a bed and breakfast. At 7PM I returned to the hotel expecting to get dinner in the restaurant. There is not an evening restaurant there is no chef at 7pm. This would not qualify as 1 star Hotel under the UKs AA or Visit England criteria. Marriott also mis leads the customers on their website saying the restaurant is open till 10Pm when it was closed by 7Pm When I asked about the lack of eating facilities I was advised you can get takeaway delivered. You can also get takeaway delivered in another bed and breakfast that does not pretend to be a hotel and does not cost £100 a night. Its in a bad area it's not the sort of place you would want to wander around at night, it should be cheaper or offer better service for the money "Our European-inspired restaurant offers an array of tapas, afternoon teas and signature cocktails." Everyday 6:30 AM-10:30 AM 11:00 AM-5:00 PM 5:00 PM-10:00 PM More They make false claims on their web site you book this hotel expecting a full service hotel and get a B and B. The restaurant was already closed by 7pm for food. Their false advertising is a breach of contract, you pay for a service they don't really offer based on their dishonest website. For failing to meet the most basic criteria of a hotel and false adverting they should possibly change the management. AA "Hotel star ratings 1 star: Courteous staff provide an informal yet competent service. All rooms are ensuite or have private facilities. A designated eating area serves breakfast daily and dinner most evenings." Marriot should watch Fawlty Towers Waldorf Salad episode to get a better understanding. Does it say Hotel above the door? The fringe was also defective and made loud noises in the night so had to unplug it the second time it woke me up To be fair this fridge motor issue may be recent was easily resolved by switching off.

We started here on our way down to Florida for vacation and left very frustrated. During the reservation process we made it clear we we had 4 people and they reserved us for a King bed and a single sofa bed. We also let them know we would be arriving late (after midnight). We arrived at 2AM on Friday 24 June and we sent to a room with 1 King bed and nothing else (not even a couch). We called and explained the dilemma and the gentleman at the counter seemed annoyed, but found us another room after being on hold for awhile. We were set up on a conference room downstairs that had a King bed and single sofa in it (kinda weird, but fine). When I went down to switch out keys, he (the manager on duty) just slid the keys over to me and said nothing. I woke up the next morning to 2- $293 dollar pre authorizations on my debit card for a $196 dollar room. I walked down to the front desk and spoke to the morning manager on duty and asked why we had been charged twice for the pre-authorization, she looked at the computer shook her head and said I was charged the no show fee before our arrival and then when we arrived the guys at the front desk charged us again when they should have seen in the computer that we had already been charged. I don’t appreciate having an extra $300 held up in pending authorizations for this mistake and I have no confidence the man that change it could care less. I called on Monday morning and spoke to the manager and duty and he assisted me the transaction would fall off it and it was all up to my bank on how long it would take. I called my bank and they said it should fall off soon but it’s up to the company that initiated the transaction to ensure it had been closed out properly (which again I have no idea if it has or not).

Good: Location. Nice lobby area. Stylish room. Bad: Very noisy outside until 2am (not helped by poor windows) Very noisy from other rooms (can easily hear low level conversation) Double bed is two singles pushed together with no topper so big ridge in the middle. Room looking tired with lots of paint chip and peeling wallpaper. Expensive for what it is.

Great location, parking is a little bit of a hassle but that’s expected for the location. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Only big issue is the AC in the rooms, the rooms get so hot but can only be controlled by the front desk staff. The air shuts off after a few hours/minutes and you have to call each time to have them turn it on. Even at that, the rooms do not get really cold. So if you love cold freezing rooms during a summer vacation this may not be for you. But outside of that, 5 stars for service, location, and cleanliness.

I have been a customer of this hotel for the past year. I must say that I am more than pleased with the whole product and service offerings. The most impressive aspect of their service, however, is the front desk and floor staff who are genuinely friendly. -Pamola :), the bar staff, Laura the operations manager, Zack the food and beverage supervisor, and Sam the coffee shop manager, among others, are the most professional and friendly people I have across in a UK-based hospitality firm. They make you welcomed and go miles beyond their duty to make sure your needs are met with a great sense of professionalism and integrity. I highly recommend this place.

Have been coming to this place for 2+ years however recently have seen some staff changes everyone is lovely through the day and night always supporting you when needed and always friendly smiley faces. Love this hotel however my service rating has gone down a star as a receptionist (nisha) was breaching customer confidentiality and discussing my stay at the hotel with a member of staff that works for mailbox. Very unhappy about this situation and how staff talk about customers at the hotel however with everyone else always had a lovely experience.

Staff was very very friendly. The entrance lobby was nice and clean and sleek modern design. Furthermore, the rooms were clean and you can see that they really do put effort into making sure their guests have a pleasant stay. Also the breakfast was very nice was a solid buffet style breakfast and was very delicious and a great way to start my morning All in all a great visit at the Marriott and was very happy with my stay Also a great location with activities round the corner and tons of restaurants and shops

Great location as the mall was next door and plenty of food choices. Staff were friendly and breakfast was great. However, the bed and pillows were too uncomfortable for me. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The good thing about the hotel was the staff very friendly and welcoming. The room is big, but the bed was uncomfortable also the bathroom was for people with disabilities.

Lovely Queen room overlooking the canal basin, inexplicably they only provided three pillows, soon rectified by the staff. Enjoyed a pleasant if slightly pricey evening in the bar with friends.

Such a lovely hotel booked for our 1st wedding anniversary. Really nice and professional customer service and also breakfast option was really nice. Overall beautiful views and shops restaurants etc all within walking distance. Thank you to all the team for being very welcoming. We will be back very soon.

Staff were super welcoming and friendly. Hotel room was lovely, the shower was great! Only down side was how thin the walls were, could hear the people in corridors. Also had noisy neighbours slamming their hotel door 5 times around 3am. Not the hotels fault but the thin walls didn’t help. Overall a great stay.

Brought the wife and 2 kids along for a 2 week work trip to Birmingham and all had a wonderful time. Prime location, excellent cleaning crew, friendly service staff. Pauloma, our bartender was especially helpful. Only downside was night staff did not know how to bring up luggage via elevator, there needs to be more signage clearly marking directions to hotel. Laundry service is overpriced, I suggest searching for alternatives

What a location! Can't get much better than this for the old canal walk. Just step out and you're virtually in the water. Many pubs and restaurants within a 2 min walk. Cinema and shops too. The rooms were nice - clean and spacious. I had a baby and there was still walking room with a cot. My only gripe is that turning the air on (on a hot day) gets too cold. Maybe it was just my room. The front desk and reception staff were extremely helpful. I will return !

A nice smallish hotel that is situated within the Mailbox area of Birmingham. Rooms are decent and the bar/restaurant area is also nice. Also worth walking down the canal path as some great pubs within walking distance.

Cannot fault the hotel and rooms for cleanliness and quality 100% spot on. However we had an awful experience with miscommunication. We booked for a day stay so 9am-5pm. We got there at 9 and were told our room would be ready in a couple of minutes, we were sat waiting for around half and hour. We got into the room and everything was fantastic until at around 1.30pm we got multiple phone calls, didn’t answer as we were both knackered after a long night the evening before. We then had a knock on the door from the receptionist practically shouting at us because we were suppose to be out of the room by 12. We had just woken up so just got ready and left the room. Got downstairs and was told it was their mistake. I understand mistakes can happen but surely you’d check the booking before banging on doors and continuous phone calls. We were offered free drinks to apologise but just left without. Lovely hotel but miscommunication ruined it. Feel we’d 100% get treated differently if we were older and looked more presentable but that might just be my opinion.

AC Hotel by Marriott is a sleek and modern hotel located in Birmingham. It features stylish rooms with contemporary decor, as well as a fitness center and a restaurant serving a range of Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. The convenient location near Birmingham's city center makes it a great choice for both business and leisure travelers.

Beautiful hotel with lovely staff. It was easy to check in and out. With check out at any time until 12pm I didn't feel rushed to get out. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with a lovely selection to choose from. The location is ideal as it is close to a variety of things such as the cinema, Tesco's, restaurants, the sea life centre and Utilia area as well as pubs and many other places. Will definitely be returning.

Fantastic location. Superior Room was well equipped, even with Sky TV (small windows but ok). Nice warm bar area and nice to see great service from all the staff at reception and the evening bar staff were simply brilliant. After staying at many hotels in London and the south east including 5 star hotels during the pandemic, this has been the best for service. Well done & thanks guys

Excellent service from AC marriott staff 30/29. Amelia was very helpful and welcoming she was able to provide us with water bottles and bring up to our room personally which was very kind. The breakfast staff Kara and Ben were absolutely amazing Ive stayed at the hotel over 40 times however the pair have been the best service I’ve received. Ben went out of his way to show us how amazing the breakfast was at AC marriott and fulfil every needs we had. A special thanks to Ben for making us feel so special he also allowed us to take croissants for our journey back. It was my mum and sister first time staying here and he made there stay very special from the service he provided personally and checking we needed anything else and making sure we as guests were happy. A great example of 5* customer services and a true asset to Marriott. He has a positive attitude and was just so helpful friendly overall makes us want to come back again and again.

Clean room, friendly staff and great breakfast. Only issue is noise from street but due to location hard for them to do much about that. Thank you!

Central to everything in Bham city, friendly, welcoming and clean. Room has everything (except a seaside view). Breakfast was well worth the £11, fantastic. X

Comfortable bed. Clean room. Good facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Would have liked to open the window at night but can understand the safety aspect of them not opening. Wish the air con had a higher speed but at least it was there. Overall, good value for money in a good location.

Our stay was lovely - a spacious, clean room with complimentary drinks and canal view - in a fantastic location surrounded by many restaurants. All staff were great but Abud in particular was very accommodating, and provided exceptional service. 😁

Basic enough room. Clean but smelled of bleach. Drains smelled in the evening. Draft coming through window vent. Very noisy in room due to noise coming in drafty window vent and noise from other rooms. Not a restful night sleep. Bed comfortable. Shower good.

Great location and clean rooms However few points to note: * Fridge was unplugged from mains when checked in. When plugged in noticed a noise that got progressively worse. Staff must of been aware as why would they leave it unplugged. They should of fixed the issue when getting room ready. * Google cast doesn't work on TV (tried with 4 different devices) * Shower water pressure very weak. Suggest getting this looked at too. * Only 1 working lift, terribly slow. Suggest making this a priority to fix. I didn't bother to highlight these issues during stay since was only there 2 nights. Also disappointed that we were told that we couldn't get the 15% discount from the Q-Park car park as we signed up to their app (for ease of entrance/exit which is linked to my credit card so payment is automated). Easily fixed by taking the amount off hotel bill.. staff should know how to process this. Overall pleasant stay as enjoyed the location and room was clean.

Unplanned trip and escape destination after a nightmare Christmas with family (think we all know what that feels like) Spent 1 week here. This hotel is in a brilliant part of town. Great places around. Clean, big, spacious, comfortable, friendly. We would definitely stay here again, for the next family escape :)

Great hotel. Have had a few minor issues with check in on occasion, but staff have always been great. Always fiind better offers on booking agent sites than direct with hotel.

  • 5/5 Richard M. 1 year ago on Google
I had a lovely 2 night stay to visit the Christmas markets. Everything was perfect, a lovely room, smart, quiet, with friendly staff and in a great location surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops. Some reviews complained about only 1 lift working, that it was noisy at night, no food being served late etc but none of these things were an issue. Perhaps the only negative I’d list is the expensive parking as you have to use the Mailbox carpark with 15% discount. At least there are plenty of spaces though and it felt very safe.

  • 5/5 Yasha S. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms are decent size. However, what makes this an excellent hotel is the front desk and bar girls/boys. Some of the friendliest personnel you will come across in hospitality in Europe. And, if you are in Birmingham, nothing beats AC Hotel's location.

Really nice hotel! rooms are spacious and immaculate, comfy bed, friendly staff and excellent location. Would definitely stay again.
