We parked a 10min walk away from the hotel for £6.50 for 48 hours. From the minute we walked into the hotel the staff where friendly and welcoming everywhere was clean looking and well looked after. Our room had two big windows over looking the street, both the bathroom and bedroom were clean and spacious. Would definitely recommend to anyone needing center accommodation.

A birthday treat for my wife. Whilst we have visited the second city numerous times, this was our first time at Burlington. Reception staff welcomed us and checked in was easy as our room was ready. There is a classic look.and feel to the decor of the hotel transporting you back in time, this was a nice touch. The bar and restaurant are on the first floor, They look nice but we didn't eat here on this occasion. Our room (suite) was very nice and the living room area was well presented. The location of the hotel is right in the centre of Birmingham about 5 mins walk from New Street Station.

I like this hotel. I like the location and the staff are very good. This stay I felt the room was a little below expectation. We couldn’t open any windows to allow any fresh air into the room which made it feel stuffy. The air con didn’t really cool the room which left it too warm at night and the free standing fan in the room was a little noisy to keep on all night. I feel a little work needs doing to sort this and then the hotel will be back to its high standards.

I rang the hotel yesterday to give them a chance to deal with my complaint. They have not come back to me so I’ll put it here. As a couple we arrived at the hotel fairly early, so left our bags and went out for lunch. We checked in (and paid) when we came back and were allocated a tiny room with what can only be described as ‘barely’ a double bed. We were distracted by having to obtain an extension lead for a piece of vital medical equipment so didn’t pay much too much attention to the quality of the room or the size of the bed. Also the room only had one towel (for a couple) so we had to go speak to reception again to get a second towel. (Unbelievably there was already a second towel in the room but placed in a small cupboard at the other side of the room to the bathroom and I suspect the second towel is hidden so single business users don’t use too many towels…) Anyway after a terrible night in the tiny bed we had breakfast and checked out. I spoke to the reception and made a brief complaint. The staff member shrugged her shoulders and said ‘if you’d said something we could have put you in a better room!’ My point is that if they have better rooms they should have given us one. The one we were in (504) is probably fine for a single use business traveller but it’s wholly inadequate for a couple. This is a 4 star hotel. My advice is to stay somewhere else. The location is good but the quality is far below other hotels that are close by.

Cannot fault my stay here this time. The room was amazing and the staff were very helpful. Really appreciated the extra touches of wine and chocolates along with a aniversary card. Made the evening very memorable. Also enjoyed some drinks in the evening at the bar. Staff are very friendly and also a chilling experience compared to the merriments outside in most places. Great way to finish off the evening and wake up relaxed.

Nice centrally located hotel within a stone's throw of New Street train station. Decor inside is nice but wouldn't say good value for money for the room rates. Staff are good and decent WiFi throughout. £4.50 for a hot chocolate probably the most expensive on earth 😳

Enjoyable stay. The room was a little worn, creaking floors, modern amenities and fixtures. Cleanliness could be a little better. For the price I expected something a little more. Fantastic service. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. Excellent location in the middle of Birmingham city. Various public transport on the doorstep, Birmingham New Street station across the street. Great little coffee shops and restaurants nearby.

The hotel it’s self is very clean the location is brilliant. I would however avoid this hotel if you suffer from celiac disease, the chef and staff at the restaurant did not note my allergy despite the prior warning. Staff were told of the allergy upon arrival. Each time a course came out the kitchen it was sent back as it contained gluten after double checking! Needless to say I will never be returning here again! A member of staff was confused between a vegan and gluten free diet!

Very welcoming and professional staff at Reception. Some issues with hot water in my room were very quickly and efficiently dealt with and I was re-located in an extremely comfortable room nearby. In the morning a first class breakfast was served in pleasant and relaxed surroundings. The quality of the food was excellent. In particular, I would like to commend Ian at Reception for his immensely high standards and friendly manner - exceptional. He more than went the extra mile on my behalf which I greatly appreciated.

Clean smart hotel. Reasonably priced for the area. Noisy from outside though and our window didn't quite shut properly. Beds comfortable and room was spacious. Great location to be near everything in city centre.

I was a bit hesitant booking but had a lovely stay. This beautiful hotel must be a devil to maintain and was rather tired looking in places but this sort of added to its charm. So close to the station you can hear the announcements and surrounded by great bars and restaurants, this is a perfect location for a lively City break. Basic, unpretentious facilities. Fantastic, friendly staff, super price. Recommended.

The location is amazing! So central to everything you could need. I was worried on arrival that we’d struggle to sleep with the noise of the city on a Friday and Saturday night but we didn’t hear a thing. Our room was small but perfect for us and fabulously decorated. The staff were all kind and attentive and very professional and polite. Would stay again.

The rooms are a bit dated tbh but bathroom is modern with powerful shower. Bed really comfy. My room was at the front so I heard all the station announcements but that didn’t bother me, I still slept. Great position in the city. Front desk really helpful and friendly.

Lovely and charming hotel in Birmingham! I accidentally made the reservation for a different date and Helen immediately found us a solution. We were very tired from our trip and finding a welcoming staff, and a gentle person like her has really made our day and stay at the Burlington. Thank you again to Helen and all the Staff for the understanding and warm welcome.

This is a lovely hotel Our room was really nice and the bed was very comfortable. Restaurant for both breakfast and dinner was excellent. The staff were really pleasant and most helpful. Finally for a stay in Birmingham the location of this hotel is perfect. It is in the center of the main shopping area and only a few meters from New Street railway station.

Excellent location, staff all very friendly. Breakfast service was a little sketchy, forgot toast and then butter, young staff who need a little more training. But very nice staff. Room was lovely, nice and quiet with comfortable pillows. WiFi awful which is the norm for hotels. Overall would stay again as the location is perfect.

Experience was very disappointing for a 4 star luxury classed hotel. Requested hot chocolate, no non-dairy milk available. Requested non-feather pillows due to my severe allergy, was advised this “shouldn’t be a problem”, four hours later they had not arrived, re-requested them, to be told the hotel was busy and they had been allocated to other guests. Fifteen minutes later, three flat, non-feather sofa cushions were offered! Breakfast was a bit hit and miss, there were no glasses available at the juicer that had a full drip tray. One rack of toast came with the coffee, the other never arrived (but the butter did), the cooked food arrived twenty minutes later despite there only being six tables occupied, but was perfectly adequate. Also they charge £4 pounds(!) extra if you want a cappucino, latte or espresso, rather that an average cafetiere of black coffee. Accepting the extra charge, I've asked for a latte only to be told that their coffee machine wasn't working. At check-out, there was an apology about the pillows, but no Duty Manager offered nor any explanation given. No attention to detail which at this price-point/star rating was a shock.

The rooms were nice and clean, we had breakfast the hot breakfast was disappointing and most options you had to pay extra for. The one lift which can be accessed from outside had a gentleman injecting himself in (a Tuesday night).

Looks good and a nice location. Room was tidy and clean. Noisy location. Dinner was average at best, of 3 courses one was cold and the other 2 were bland, 45 minutes late.

We didn't stay but attended a function. Service and food were excellent, but the function room was so cold most of the ladies kept their coats on!! A few tiny fan heaters doesn't cut a 500 seat dining room.

Hotel is in a perfect location but just couldn't give it 5 stars for a 4 star. The bar area could be a little bit more, it's a little dull, boring and not attractive whilst I appreciate the age of the building. Room sizes are fine and appreciate king size beds couldn't be fitted but personally I though the quilts were too think and would of preferred the option if something thinner... Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely return.

We booked the suite for my birthday for one night and it was amazing! The room was spotless to be honest. We also paid extra for the decorations for Valentine’s. The breakfast was nice. All the staff were really friendly and nice too! I would definitely stop here again. :)

The heating is faulty. We had to ask for portable heater in the room. The whole hotel was chilly. We had delicious sandwiches at the bar on Saturday afternoon. Really very well done. Most memorable sandwiches ever! I forgot my charger in the room and called the hotel on the day we checked out to be told that they had found it and it would be left in reception. I made a special journey to collect it. I was asked several questions about when I had stayed, the room , the make of the charger and they said that they didn't have it but would look into the matter. Left my number 5 days ago. Not heard anything yet.

Me and my son stayed here in a standard room for his birthday they even left him a birthday card. The room was clean, organised and the bed was comfier than mine at home! The breakfast was beautiful and the staff were extremely friendly. I'll definitely be booking again. Thank you Burlington. Charlotte

Staff in Breakfast room are most helpful and cheerful. Did not know restaurant and room service is closed on Sunday for 24 hours. There is no room service or a nice fresh cup of coffee or late night snack after a conference. Also, being elderly, we could not understand why they would place us in a room far away where we needed to use stairs after the lift brought us so far!! Walking to checkout, we were most grateful for two hotel maids who saw our predicament and helped us get our bags down the stairs and to the lift. We were so very grateful to them.

Be careful to assess the room you get. It's great when you have a room that doesn't have a window facing the train station. The rooms that do (I only know of 205 and 305, but contiguous rooms are probably similar) will get train announcements blaring through the window from what seems like all hours outside of between 2 AM and 6 AM, making it difficult to get a good sleep. Thankfully the staff were able to sort a room change for the next night.

We had a great stay at the Burlington Hotel while visiting for a show in the city. Location was fantastic, just over the road from the station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only reason for a star off was that the body wash bottle in the shower was completely empty and there was no hair drier available in the room, which for the cost of the suite we had and it being a 4 star hotel could have been something checked better during the room clean for the body wash and something that could be provided for the hair drier. Other than those minor bits, overall a great stay

Love this hotel. Nice clean bed big room and big bathroom. Its in the city centre and you can just walk to places especially with Christmas market just down the stairs. I love it. I brought my 2 dogs with me as well. The staff were friendly and nice. The check in desk was tidy and clean. The restaurant was clean as well. The only thing is they got no parking space. If the have 1 thatwould be wonderful. Even if they didn’t have at least they can mention where is the nearest 24h car park. Because some people drive from far away and when we search the parking in google map it show 1 is about half mile. Its not far but when it’s rainy day the last thing you need is dragging your suitcase for half mile under the rain. People will find it very helpful and appreciate the hotel management even more. I definitely come back as I don’t see all the city centre. And I definitely know where to park now.

This hotel is beautiful. Many original features have been kept. Our room was very spacious and clean. The beds was really comfortable. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I had a room service meal and it was lively. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Birmingham.

The hotel is very well located near the train station, I expected there to be more noise from the grinding of wheel on track. Pleasantly surprised that I had a great nights sleep. I had a room on the second floor facing the station. The room was looking a little tired. The bed was really comfortable. The staff were friendly and easy to approach.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, spotlessly clean and staff were so friendly and helpful. I went as part of my company on a training course and the staff brought fresh coffee and cakes regularly and there was plenty of cold, fresh bottled water. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Cannot recommend enough.

I have no idea how this is a 4 star hotel. Yes, it is a budget, cheap place to stay, but I expected it to be at least a little better. The decor is hideous, very dark and depressing. There is no air con - or if there is it is extremely weak. I stayed during the summer and the little fan in the room was no where near enough. The windows didn’t even open! However, the WORST part was that there was a wet patch on the carpet which reeked of vomit! Extremely unpleasant and so unhygienic. All in all, I would never ever return. And would strongly, STRONGLY advise anyone against booking here.

Lovely hotel. Staff were fantastic at all times. Great history attached to the hotel. Ideally situated in the heart of the city. As a business guest who travelled by car the only inconvenience was the lack of car parking. 10 minute walk from a preferential rate NCP is not my idea of the perfect package.

I went to an office conference at a hotel and it was a pleasant place. The conference rooms are large, clean and practical. The staff are polite, and helpful. I didn't eat but enjoyed the coffee and water 🙂.

Beautiful hotel with helpful staff. Room exceptionally clean and very spacious. Also very comfortable bed and room not too warm which helped with a good night's sleep. Excellent breakfast with lovely staff who were also very helpful.

  • 3/5 Steve G. 2 years ago on Google
Room was large, but very cold, heater did not appear to do anything but make noise, went to breakfast, which was paid for, but waitress seemed to think this was not the case and quite rudely said 3 times that she would check. The waitress that served me, was really nice and helpful. If you need a receipt, get them to print it and hand it to you. Still waiting for mine via email despite phoning twice so far.

The hotel was very clean & in a good central location. The superior double room was spacious and had a Nespresso coffee machine, dressing gowns and slippers. The bathroom was lovely with a very large powerful shower & a big sink basin. The breakfast was good and served to you by waiting staff The Bacchus cellar bar below the hotel is well worth a visit for it's unique decor and intimate nature. We did have one issue in the afternoon with the room not having any heating on but by the time we returned from our evening out this had been rectified & the room was warm enough to sleep in. Overall a satisfactory stay in a beautiful hotel. 👍😃
