Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I can’t think of one good point. On checking in for 2 dreadful nights we were asked if we required housekeeping to make up our room for the second night, we said we did but it didn’t happen. Came back to unmade beds, damp towels, no tea/coffee refills. We asked for fresh towels, never got any. The bar tender on the first night when he finally appeared was positively rude when went to the bar for a couple of drinks and snacks. All staff appeared to be nonchalantly indifferent to the guests, happy to ignore wherever possible. Breakfast is made up of substandard over salty produce, grainy scrambled egg, disgusting potato tots and tinned mushrooms. The shower head couldn’t possibly be any smaller and the icing on the cake was being able to hear the neighbouring rooms TV all night. I do not recommend that anyone stays here. Ever.

Overall poor although the staff are very helpful and seem to be doing their best. At my first room, the safe didn’t work and the toilet cistern was running constantly, after changing rooms and carrying all my unpacked stuff, the second room’s safe was locked. 2 treadmills out of 2 were out of action and the only coffee machine at breakfast wasn’t working. Needs management that cares!

The hotel was clean and the requests we made around having a sofa bed was already set up when we got there. The breakfast was decent too, no complaints. The thing that really put me off was the level of customer service. This was the first time I stayed at a hotel in Birmingham and I have always thought northerners were more polite and approachable! There were no levels of customer service or guest service standards at this hotel. As soon as we walked in there was no smile and that feeling you get for walking new into a hotel reception desk. (I travel out of the country a lot and perhaps it's not the same in the UK). Anyway, I think Richard was the tip off. He had a face like he was constantly annoyed and at one point when the kids were waiting in the lobby, my 3 year old climbed on one of the sofas, Richard rudely said "I just cleaned those, could you not climb on it" to a toddler. I get his issue, but there is a way of saying things. Anyway that epitomised the level of customer service at this hotel. Will not be coming back to this place.

The staff were super friendly and efficient. The room was clean, but despite leaving the towels hung up, we were given clean towels every day!!! The tea, coffee & used glasses were not replaced. There was only one locked window, so the room was quite dark & stuffy!!! The view was absolutely disgusting; We only saw a dirty roof top! This room should only be offered as a fall back! Breakfast was variable, plentiful & tastey

I really enjoyed my stay here. Before we checked in, I got a message from someone In customer service just to confirm the details, and when we went to check in, I got there about 45 minutes early and was able to check in. The lady at reception was extremely friendly and lovely. Rooms are clean, nice and warm. Breakfast was yummy. A wide variety of foods which I enjoyed. I will definitely return.

The hotel is located in a slightly run-down area just on the edge of Birmingham city centre. There is a frequent tram service into and out of the city right next to the hotel, or it's a roughly 15 minute walk. Despite the location of the tram stop nearby, I found the rooms to be very quiet. My stay was comfortable and the rooms were modern and clean. I slept really well every night of my stay. Breakfast is served until 09:30 every day and free of charge, I believe it is served slightly later at weekends. The meat was really good and there was a wide range of sweet and fruit options including a waffle machine. The staff at this hotel are very friendly. Check in/out was quick and easy. My only complaint is that the room was too warm, although this was quickly resolved by the staff who changed a setting remotely to make it cooler.

We stayed at the Hilton in Birmingham as we were going to the Elton John concert and need to stay fairly close to the venue. It is not far to walk into the town centre. The room was fairly big and clean and had everything we needed. The shower was lovely but did not drain very well and you spend time standing in a pool of water. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection of food and drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to leave our bag after checkout so we could wander, thank you.

Reasonably priced, felt clean and safe. Taxi in and out of the centre was about 6 to 7 in an uber. Reception staff friendly and efficient. No issue with housekeeping. Ni cell decorated and in good repair. Breakfast okay, but the sausages and hash browns were a tiny bit stale and it is machine drinks so you can't get a decent cup of tea. Toast, cereal fresh fruit and juices are there so it not bad and the waffle makers are a nice touch for kids and big kids alike.

2nd time staying here, 1st time was amazing with clean room and towels. This time round, i was given the wrong key and walked into a strangers room, which put me in a nervous mood. I went into my room where my towels were stained. Apart from that, staff are great and breakfast is good.

Helpful welcoming staff. Large bar, lounge area that is clean and tidy. Rooms usual Hampton style decent beds with walk in showers. We had a team of seven staying for a week and all rooms well maintained and clean. The bar food is just that pizzas, fries etc but vegan is available. Small selection of drinks enough to suit most. Closest car park is £6 per night. Basically an open piece of ground with no security but two of our team parked their with no issues all week. Nearest Q park 10 min walk £27 per night but fully secured. Location is great as close to city and tram stop right next to the hotel.

Nice hotel. Not a very pleasant district and not that near the centre of Birmingham but the tram stop is just round the corner. Rooms were comfortable but lacked a few basics like bottled water, biscuits and only one tea bag and milk each. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would visit again.

Good mix of family and business travellers. Hotel is showing its age a bit, but is in general neat and clean. Breakfast was great, good variety and the staff were great. Not much nearby in terms of shops or restaurants, but there is a tram line so you can get around the city easily.

Very friendly welcoming staff Room was clean and comfortable Breakfast was great Location is ideal for the jewellery Quarter and isn't too far from new street station (about a 20minute walk) Have stayed here many times for work and can't fault it at all

Good location and good value for money. My last stay wasn’t great as toilet wasn’t clean and stained towels were presented. Generally I haven’t had any issues on my previous stay but this one. I would be mindful for my next trip and check the room before settling in.

Have just returned home after a stay here while we went to see the strictly tour. The hotel was fab, the staff...all of them were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fab ...they have a waffle machine ...I didnt know how to use it and one of the girls made us a waffle ...it was delicious! Having the tram stop just behind the hotel was a massive bonus. I would definitely recommend this hotel

Street view doesn’t do it justice. Welcoming and friendly staff and very presentable but cosy place. Beds large and comfy, good bathroom and really decent shower. Good breakfast to set you up for the day, replenished often and a proper waffle iron!

Nice hotel with good rooms. The hotel is clean and well run with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was a little basic, but absolutely fine. Close proximity to the Tram stop and Snow Hill station. Around 10 minutes brisk walk from the city centre.

Me and my sister stayed for a night this week. Very impressed. Comfy rooms with lovely duvets. Probably one of the most sound- proofed rooms I've ever stayed in! Great choice for breakfast. Only downside, fire alarm went off briefly at about 5.45am. Jumped out of my skin. Travelodge can forget it in future! No contest.

Central location -not far from City centre. Friendly and polite service at check in. Room had all the amenities.Very clean. Breakfast was extensive -not too many dishes but everything needed for a wholesome meal was there. Same friendly attitude at check out. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place to stay, convenient location, parking only 6 min walk away, about £30 for overnight parking. Hotel is clean and does the job, has a small fitness centre too with mostly cardio machines, some dumbbells available too up to about 20kg. Walking distance to local pubs/bars. Friendly fast service from the staff at the hotel. would return

This was my first ever hotel booking and it was amazing. Very clean and comfortable room. Room temperature was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and had everything needed for the stay. The complementary breakfast was amazing. Fresh waffles, fruit, had all healthy options including vegan sausages. Great selection of teas. Check in was quick and smooth. Very helpful lady at the desk. I will definitely come again . Thank you very much

The hotel is approximately a 20 minute walk from New Street. There is a tram stop outside if you don't want to walk though. Check in was pretty dire. One woman was busy on the phone, her colleague literally blanked us. Woman on the phone finished call and was really helpful. A gentleman came to check in behind us and the colleague sprung in to action. Clearly she'd not liked the look of us. Only one towel in the room. Went down and asked the unpleasant receptionist for another. She told us she'd have one sent up. This never happened. The room itself was spotless. Lovely shower, comfortable bed etc. No problems there. Breakfast was OK. Staff seemed very slow at clearing up and refilling the food. What there was, was good though. A bit of a mixed bag, but perfectly OK for a night.

Just on the outskirts of the city centre this hotel is well located for bus and metro team routes and not far from Snow Hill rail station. If you're feeling energetic it's only about a 20 minute walk to the centre. The location itself isn't amazing and there is no inside parking but there's loads of parking will priced nearby, £5.60 for 24 hours. Overall a good location for a base to explore the city or for Arena. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was a good size and nicely presented similar to other Hampton brand hotels I've stayed in. We only stayed the one night so other than saying that breakfast was nice there's not a lot more I can say. If we're visiting Birmingham again we'd definitely consider here again.

Hotel is basic. Rooms are small but clean. Only one lift working. Only pizza to offer for dinner, but will allow you to bring food in. Breakfast is nice, good selection. Staff are lovely and helpful. Tram is around the corner to get into town.

Great stay at the Hampton by Hilton! We were up for the weekend for Birmingham Pride and this hotel was a great base for us. Lovely venue and rooms (the shower was amazing!). Rooms cleaned beautifully by Betty and excellent service from Courtney and Liberty. Would and will recommend

Clean, low cost and in a very good location once I found out that the tram station I needed was St Paul's not Jewelry Quarter. The breakfast was excellent, with a waffle machine and plenty of bacon, scrambled eggs and so on available. It seems to be universal that hotels provide very small glasses for fruit juice though. I'll be back. Hard to beat for £79.

Really nice comfortable hotel. Excellent value for money. The rooms are well appointed and spotless clean. Beautiful bright white linen and towels. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. The room has a kettle, hairdryer and iron. Situated next to the St Paul metro tram Station and also on a main bus route. The breakfast is self service. Cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, choice of pastries, croissants, muffins. Make your own waffles too with all the toppings you would want. Hot food, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, beans, hash browns and a veggie mix of peppers. 2 toasting machines and 2 hot drinks machines, fresh juice and cold water. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Lovely staff and super clean hotel. Breakfast was superb. Highly recommend coming to this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay in the centre of Birmingham. Loved the size of the room and the shower was huge!! Also a bonus there is air conditioning so in a heatwave like this, it is most welcomed!!

A very reasonably priced but comfortable hotel with a good car park literally round the corner (we had to pay but the rate was cheap for a city). When we got to our room it was too hot for us and the windows don't open. Guests can't control the air conditioning themselves, you have to ask at reception. We did ask, went out for dinner and when we came back, hey presto the room was lovely and cool. This meant that very unusually for us we both slept very well, the hotel was also very quiet at night. The bathroom was excellent with a decent shower. The buffet style breakfasts are never the best but it was fine and meant that there was no delay whatsoever. All in all very good value for money for a hotel only a very short walk from the heart of the city.

We had a great overnight stay at this hotel. The room was modern, comfortable and good value. Agreed this isn't in the most exciting part of Brum but it's only a few mins walk/bus/taxi into the city centre. The buffet breakfast was a little chaotic because of the number of guests but the staff did their best considering.

Great location, lovely rooms, breakfast really tasty. Such a shame to witness hotel reception staff being abused verbally by a group of female guests for an ongoing time which they dealt with with the upmost diplomacy and professionalism. Well done hotel team ! The better people ! Thanks for a great stay !

I had such a good time at this hotel. It was clean and efficient, the staff were really nice and they made effort to make my stay really good and comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic too and the room had everything I needed, thanks

Great hotel, not in the more renovated area of the city centre but well worth the short walk. Really comfortable room, very friendly staff. Buffet style Breakfast included in my room rate.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here. A nice hotel and a lovely breakfast. Rooms were clean. They only bad thing was that when we left, the receptionist was very rude. She didn't even look at me and just snatched the key cards from me. Didn't say a word or look at us. I said thankyou and that I had a nice stay and she just ignored me and walked away. Was not a nice way to end a nice 1trip. Other than that, I would have given five stars.

  • 5/5 Brooke W. 2 years ago on Google
Nice staff, great hot free breakfast, comfy bed and wonderful pillows. We used the fitness center which was small but has what you need. There's an intercity train behind the hotel, perfect to hop on and head to city center or Grand Central Station, just 4 stops away. Our room backed up to the tracks and we didn't hear it at all at night.
