Wow! What a great experience. We stayed in the hotel which was lovely. The room was huge, as was the modern bathroom with both a bath and shower. Very homely. We also ate in the restaurant which was again exceptional. The food was so tasty, especially the carrot cake starter and the ribs; delicious. Staff are all friendly and accommodating. Great location, only 15mins walk to the city centre and lots of other amenities close by including free use of the gym opposite.

Terrible Terrible experience, I was there for two days as a guest of their landlord, very bad reception with a person who could not even find the keys to the room. In the morning you go down to breakfast, the restaurant closed and nobody was there. I'm out. The next morning same thing. To get to the room you pass in dirty places full of trash thrown around everywhere. The room nothing special. There was no hairdryer so after a shower my hair was wet. In short, do not go there, it really sucks!

We stayed in the king size room recently. The parking was awful and the free spaces were taken. I managed to wedge in at the front but was blocked in in the morning. Check in took over 10 mins and they couldn’t find our booking, finally got in after two members of staff helped. Room was tidy, bathroom clean and modern. The bed had bloodstains under the bedding which meant having to sleep on top of the duvet. Valance sheet covered in stains. Check out we were accused of not paying and they tried to charge us, even though I’d booked on their website, thankfully I could show them my credit card account but they weren’t convinced so I left my phone number. I wouldn’t stay again

I’ve never been so excited and relaxed from visiting a restaurant. Excited about the amazing choice of interesting dishes and relaxed by the ambience. Blue Piano will discombobulate with its contradictions. Take a look around and you’ll see Jazz at its core flavouring the Victorian Guest house. Take a look at the menu and be prepared to double take and look slightly confused. I love having an uncomfortable food selection; if this is your first time at The Blur Piano you are in for a treat. The Malay Singaporean selection will be familiar to some, to most it will happily bewilder. I definitely recommend the savoury Singaporean Carrot Cakes. The texture and flavours will blow your sweet leaning mind. Of the choice of mains there are lots of interesting noodle inspired dishes. I opted for the Tofu Ho Fun, tofu has never tasted so sumptuous and flavoursome. The service is... eclectic; a contrast of professionalism and hipsterism. Thanks for the fast delivery and explanatory notes for each dish. Overall the Blue Piano offers a dining experience you will not find anywhere else. I’m sure the ambience is taken to another level when the sound of the live Jazz flows through its bellows.

Great service and authentic deco! Carrot cakes were great. I like how our dishes had smaller portions at a cheaper price compared to other places. Would definitely come again.

Had the 'Thai vegetarian Green Curry' with Rice which was nice and good portions. Disappointed that they don't do dessert, I just fancied some ice cream after my meal. Nice relaxing music in background. Good seating both inside and outside. Parking in front of hotel.

We had a bottomless brunch from Living Social. The choice was limited but the food and cocktails were lovely. Had a very enjoyable time. We will definitely be back.

Unappropraite customer service by the waiters and misgiuded about that evenet ( 8 july 2022) for a live music not free for outside table and she refused to give right information or ask from the manager. We double checked with another waiters and found we could sit outside. I dont recomend this restuarent if you expect high prestigue manner and action. The lights on that section that we sat all was turened off! without caring from waiters! no recommendation! the glass on the table was dirty! quality of fod is average. High price and just waste your money. Drink menue is limited and desert menue was not available as well!!

We chose to have our wedding reception here. I can't praise them enough for the effort that went in to make the day a wonderful one. From the beginning Aimme is was so approachable with my visions and details, from choosing the food to suit all requirements of diets and children and an itinerary of how the day would go with timings and my requests. I had a vision of how I wanted the room to look as I had made all the decorations and displays myself having liaised with Tom and Kyle they did a fantastic job of decorating the rooms and tables just bought the whole place to life. They were very attentive on the day and all staff were just so lovely. We partied in the beautiful courtyard with live music and retired to bed in the beautiful bedroom which is probably one of the largest we've ever stayed in. All rooms were take up by our guests and everyone said how comfortable they were and great prices. We all had breakfast the following morning which just felt so homely like waking up in a grand house and walking downstairs to be greeted with a yummy full English breakfast. Thank you to everyone of the Blue Piano for making our wedding day such a happy and beautiful one. The sun certainly shone down on us that day 💗🌞

The food was quite disappointing. The portion of the Malaysian beef rendang was huge, the peanuts unpeeled and flavourless, the beef dry and hard to swallow. I'm put off of Malaysian cuisine, thanks to Blue Piano. The mussels were not fresh either. I wouldn't come back to this place even if the food offered was free.

We had a great evening for Valentine's day. The restaurant is in Edgbaston in a location that over the last two years has seen a lot of new restaurants, bars and retailers open. It has become a really lively area. The restaurant is in an old building with some lovely features. The food is a mix of different dishes from around south east Asia. For Valentine's they had a set menu, all dishes were well cooked and really flavoursome. A jazz singer was rounding off the evening. I believe they actually have regular live music events. I can only recommend this place it is very welcoming and really showcases the flavours of South East Asia.

We went here many years ago and decided to go back for old times sake for a meal. It certainly wasn't as good as what we remembered it to be. The food was ok but we have definitely eaten in nicer South East Asian restaurants. Food was fairly bland and didn't hit you with those Asian flavours one would hope for. Shame. If you're looking for Asian food we'd recommend maybe trying elsewhere.

A friend and I stayed here overnight to visit the Frankfurt Christmas market. It was a thirty minute walk into the town or a tram was relatively nearby if required. The rooms were clean and tidy although we thought the addition of an cosy armchair would have made the room complete. No breakfast was available so something to consider when looking for a place to stay. We did not eat a meal here so cannot comment.

Having previously had many lovely meals here, our visit in mid June 23 was extremely disappointing. We waited 20 minutes to be asked what drinks we wanted and another 20 to receive them. Our starters took an hour and 40 minutes to arrive (from when we sat down) and our mains arrived 2 1/2 hours after we arrived. They said our "ticket" had got lost but then proceeded to bring the food out saying it had been found! It was chaotic, perhaps due to there being a music event on (but management should have organised enough staff to cover this). One woman seemed to be the "greeter" and did hardly any work all night while another ran around like a headless chicken. Staff kept on wandering around the garden with plates of food in their hands and then came into the restaurant looking for who had ordered them. There seemed to be no efficient system in place. Such a shame, as this used to be the place we would go for a treat.

Lovely big clean room over looking garden, only bad comment was I could not open the sash windows. Limited parking for 5 cars. Limited choice of breakfast - continental only but good quality. Polite and attentive staff. Beautiful garden.

We attended to see Merz and his band, brilliant. We were in garden and did start to rain so could do with a few more undercover spaces but the place is really lovely. We ordered some small plate food and was delicious. Staff were lovely and helpful. Great place with live entertainment.

From walking in to the warm and friendly environment to the final walk out after paying the bill. It was fantastic. Seated at our table upon arrival in an airy, naturally lit and in a very pleasant room, the menus arrived, a minimum wait and food and drinks were ordered, A short time later the drinks arrived and then the food arrived. All we can say is Awesome. Wonderful presentation, fantastic flavours, nice sized portions and fantastic service. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal experience. Would recommend The Blue Piano For a meal out for family or for a couple. Well done and Thank you.

Returned, hoping for great Malaysian cusine, but left a little disappointed. Granted, it was mid week and very quiet, and although the service was good and food generally okay, it lacked the authenticity we loved previously.

The young lady who assisted us with a room change was very nice and friendly (sorry didn't get her name but she had blonde hair), but the young man who came up to check the room when we moved did lack some customer service. The rooms should be checked regularly for any discrepancies, and should look the part especially in line with what you are charging. We left feeling very disappointed.

Good value hotel very handy for City centre. Owner very kindly gave me a lift into town after I was messed around by taxi company. Sadly stayed on a day when restaurant was closed, shame as the menu looks very good. Will be my go to place to stay now whenever I'm in town.

Where do I even begin. Me and my friend held our 30th birthday here last month, and it what a mess. The venue itself was great and the garden was lovely and exactly what we wanted, however everything else was terrible. I had arranged to hire the garden and have 50 people attend,  whom would decide on food once they arrived. When we arrived there was no organisation at all. It was a 26c day, and there was no ice after 30 minutes, leaving everyone's drinks warm (bare in mind we was meant to meet a bar tab of £1500 on warm drinks). There was 1 bar man for some time, leaving people waiting in a queue for 30 minutes and sometimes giving up on getting drinks as it was taking so long, alongside being warm. If you wanted cocktails this left the bar empty whilst he went inside for 15 minutes to make it. After a while another person would join to help with drinks, but mostly didn't have a clue how to work a bar. The manager Amy was extremely rude to lots of guests, I was honestly shocked at the the lack of professionalism from her all evening. If guests wanted food they either said it tasted horrible, came after waiting forever (one person waited 80 minutes for chips), or not receiving a full meal (when this was questioned numerous excuses where made). I could go on. I would highly recommend to not attend here.

The Blue Piano has a nice ambiance to it and is definitely a place that's worth a visit. The food is simply amazing. The chef has to be one of the best as the Rendang Curry has the authentic taste that can be found in South East Asia. So does the carrot cake which I thoroughly recommend (but be aware that it is not a dessert but rather a savourit starter). The portions are large but not in a wasteful manner. It's definitely a place worth visiting! The only reason I'm awarding it 4 stars is due to a speaker that's been blown and has been constantly cranked up to maximum volume, which made the buzzing sound rather annoying despite asking to lower the volume. Also, the staff made a mistake with the order, but that's been quickly rectified so I can't hold that against them. The manager has been superb.

Absolutely fantastic and atmospheric venue. Amazing food, fabulous service and the best in entertainment. Cannot fault it. I’d use it for all family celebrations now. Am now in process of booking my daughter in laws wedding party there. The garden is gorgeous. Love love love this place!

My friends booked a weekend stay and the private room for my hen party with afternoon tea. I cannot thank the staff enough for their hospitality. All of the food and drinks were amazing and they were so accommodating and flexible. The venue itself is gorgeous, has a lovely ambience and we loved the live music on the Friday night. I live locally so cannot wait to come back to enjoy the garden next time!

We went to Blue Piano for a Friday evening. We found the food very mediocre to bland, the service was Okay until our waiting staff asked us to unscrew the wine bottle that he couldn't open. Some of our orders were not delivered and we were not told about the unavailability of these items before we ordered. The live music starts at 7.30pm, just as most people start eating and it makes a very unpleasant atmosphere as the music is way too loud at that time. When you can't chat you start looking at the surroundings with a more critical eye to notice that the decoration clearly has seen better days. Despite the unavailability of food items and our ask, the side dish was not taken off the bill. Last but not least we sent back the first bottle of wine as it wasn't nice, the second one didn't get our appreciation either.

We had an anniversary party on the 11th of March, 2023. Many thanks to Maddie, Shreeti, and all the team for a wonderful time. The food was fantastic and was enjoyed by everyone. One of our friends is vegan and was given their own food, dinner ware, and cutlery. He was very appreciative of the first class service. The band was excellent playing music across the board so that we all had a good dance. The bar service was also great, with nobody left waiting for a drink. Thank you all so much. We will be back.

Our first time at this established live music venue and bar/ restaurant, highly recommend, drinks priced as you would expect at a near city centre venue, no complaints there, I didn't put any stars for food as we didnt eat but we will be going back to dine on another occasion, staff and management very polite and helpful,, Recommended 😀

First time visiting on Saturday. Had a walk round the Artisan market then popped in for food and drink. Such a beautiful place, outside terrace was lovely to sit in as the sun was shining. Fairly busy too. Pork belly baguette was delicious 😋 The server was in the brown trousers and striped shirt was very attentive to detail. Will definitely return

Booked last October, bed and breakfast, however they stopped serving breakfast in January but did not inform us of this , we would have booked another option. Although some one greeted us , saw nobody when we vacated. The bedroom had a broken window, which made the room freezing , tv did not work but on the plus side room was clean.

Best for drinks and live music only. Eat elsewhere, especially when busy. Food is mediocre, served bland and cold, and expensive for what it is… honestly, worse than takeaway. We chose a wide variety from the menu. All of the food was a major disappointment, and service non existent. Has potential… atmosphere and music was casual, fun and lively. That’s it.

The satay skewers were nice, the Thai green curry was very hot. Multiple requests were made to the DJ to tone down the volume. Not sure if that was a general opinion or only one of us older folks. DJ refused to turn down the music, and principally that spoilt the evening for me. I didn't like the food but that was a secondary issue. Great service great location.

One of the most biggest bed i had slept in in Birmingham, also very comfortable, it said it was a large double but felt like a queen size. The room had everything needed and the bathroom was quite mordern and very clean, the staff was very friendly and polite. To be picky i gotta say the only fault i would say with the palce is the heater took a while to heat the room up as it was a very big room and the breakfast menu didn't include eggs 😅😅😅

A nice little hotel. Rooms are a little "worn" but perfectly serviceable. The bathroom in room 9 is really nice and the bath was massive. There was a Jazz evening on, but it couldnt hear it from my room. The continental breakfast was very nice, with lovely fresh fruit cut and covered on little trays. A very warm and welcoming hotel, I'll definitely stay again!

With 3 friends I visited The Blue Piano on 13 August. My first, and definitely not the last visit. We each had different starters and main courses, the taste was so delicious and authentic that we each shared with each other to gain extra tastebud experiences. Rain held off so we ate outside in the very beautiful tropical style garden and were entertained by a fantastic Venezuelan jazz ensemble with extra musician guests from the audience as a bonus. The ambiance, service and food under difficult government restrictions could not have been bettered. 5* from me and my guests. See you there soon! Please ignore earlier moany reviews. They must have been at a different venue, that is all I can say!

The restaurant is incredible! Especially after 4 months of lockdown. Went with my Grandma and thoroughly enjoyed it, you will not regret going at all. Considering going? Just go - you'll come out with full bellies and would've had a pleasant evening thanks to the comfortable atmosphere and big portions of food.

Lots of vegan options on the set menu and staff are friendly. Food was a little bit sweet but I think that was just because of my choices.

I agree with the guy that said 5* isn’t enough for this place. The food is DI-VINE! I was especially impressed with my prawn dish: 99% of restaurants give you 3 prawns and Blue Piano fell into that 1% that give a decent portion. Loved it and we will be back. Memorable place to have celebrated my joint anniversary and birthday dinner.

I've had some wonderful times in here. It's still the best venue when the Birmingham Jazz Festival is on, the garden gigs here are wonderful in the Summer. I even love the food, as a vegan it's rare for me to say that and whilst the menu here is a bit pricey for me, I managed to get all of our work meals booked here, as most people are blown away by the flavours and freshness of the menu.
