The Old Chapel Inn

Inn

🫤 What a shame . Sunday lunch and only a few regulars in. Such a wonderful old icon from years gone bye. Open up the grates . Welcome people in to a roaring fire and good ale . I feel the next management team will need a small miracle to breathe live into what was once a bustling pub that it once was....

What a shame . Sunday lunch and only a few regulars in. Such a wonderful old icon from years gone bye. Open up the grates . Welcome people in to a roaring fire and good ale . The Old Chapel has been through many owners in recent years and has steadily declined in variety of drinks and atmosphere. There are new owners again and a friend and I decided to give it another try. Not a lot has changed to be honest. There are more beers available than there used to be but the guest ale ran out just after my first drink. Also only the small lounge room was open but it wasn't too busy. Overall the pub is OK for a quiet drink but has a little way to go before it reaches the heights of its past. There is a fairly sizeable outside yard with plenty of benches to sit at and the inside space is very small but cosy.

Nice local pub with games room, background music, TVs, terrace with bowling green at rear with a reasonably sized private carpark. Great for after work socialising or quiet drinks. Fairly basic selection on draft but majority of varieties present.

I was extremely disappointed. I have lived in bearwood 20 years. The man in the pub was extremely rude to me and my friend, after displaying ID he said I looked like a woman and threw us out. I am old enough enough to drink in a pub and if he didn’t like it, fair enough I would be happy to stay for a non alcoholic drink. But he had a very rude and disrespectful way of showing it. It is not acceptable to treat customers this way. I got the impression it was only regulars welcome

Went on a Saturday night as there Facebook page said they have a reggae night with food but got there music on but did not see any food or cook out I think it was there 1st time doing it so maybe after a few months things will pick up which I hope it will as its a nice pub with lots of parking space

The overall look of Old Chapel may not impress you at first, however, there's an indoor fire place which is absolutely heavenly. The accommodation is top-notch, with the bedrooms being ensuite, you'll always it tidy and clean. The bar is certainly my favourite place with the most driven cocktail mix I ever drunk in my life. I hope you have a fantastic time there.

A historic building which, in terms of a decor, is split into two very different sections. I personally preferred the traditional one. The drinks selection could be better, especially as it is advertising itself as an ale pub. Would still be happy to return and can recommend for a drink or two.
