The staff are very friendly. The room is great and the leisure facilities are lovely. The gym is surprisingly well furnished for a hotel gym and the pool was lovely (shallow but that wasn't a problem for us). The hot tub is fantastic. The outdoor seating area is lovely. The evening meal was very tasty. A very relaxed weekend indeed and the escape we needed

I took 1 star because of the food in the restaurant! I will tell you why.. My opinion when you order a steak that it's £30 and waited 45min don't put onion rings and the same cut chips that you use for a burger. The risotto with peas that you can cook at home for a quid definetly didn't worth the £16 for it. The coffee machine needs to be changed it does not give nice hot drinks from there and it's too slow. The breakfast was good, and the hotel and the facilities are great.

We all had such a good day at the spa! We were looked after from the minute we got there. Zelda was absolutely lovely, so friendly and accommodating. Amazing value for money as well and the treatment was lovely. Shout out to the chef's for the lovely afternoon tea. I'm vegan (I did check when booking and they said they can do a vegan one no problem). The selection was amazing! Will definitely be coming back!!

Loved the overnight stay, the evening meal was lovely, and a very good breakfast too. Enjoyed the swims, wet room and sauna. Room was clean with lovely countryside views.. Would definitely go again.

My choir booked a room for a Christmas afternoon tea. The room looked fabulous and the food was lovely but the service was poor. We had to wait quite a long time for a pot of tea then they brought one pot for each table of 12 people. We ran out of tea and milk quite quickly and there were no staff to ask to replenish it. Extra sandwiches were brought to the table after we had started eating the cakes so the timing was bad, and I had to ask for boxes to take surplus cakes away and was told they had already been requested and were on their way. Half of the group were leaving at this point, and the boxes never arrived while I was there so I had to wrap food in a napkin. The experience would have been much better if staff had been more in evidence.

Great place as always. This is our second stay here in 2 years, and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. The spa and leisure facilities are great. There's a beauty room providing lovely treatments, a well equipped gym, a lovely swimming pool with sauna, steam, and jacuzzi. There's also a tennis court, snooker table and golf course. We have had lunch twice in the bar/restaurant and enjoyed the food very much. We're looking forward to our next stay here.

We chose this place for an overnight escape because the website advertised it as a place to "relax and unwind after a busy week". Unfortunately the hotel is anything but relaxing. In the spa area, despite signs to the contrary and staff being present, a group of guests brought their own music system and shook the walls while they made videos of their get together. In the end it was unbearable so we were forced to leave. At night there was a party, with loud music, that went on into the early hours of the morning and prevented us from sleeping. It was like trying to sleep in a nightclub. When we called down to reception to find out how long this would continue, the receptionist rudely replied it was a hotel at Christmas, and not a spa retreat (as it is advertised to be) and what did we expect? He made no effort to move us somewhere quieter. Overall the property is looking very tired and dated, and certainly not 4 star. Breakfast was very good though, with attentive and friendly staff in this area, unlike our experience of the rest of hotel. Would recommend you only visit this place as part of a group coming to party, and not for the escape from the stresses of life it claims to offer.

Just had a ladies 3 days break and can't fault anything here. Staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Steve who sorted us on the tee each day along with the marshal gave us a great start to the day with a good chat and joke. If this was my home course I'd be a very happy golfer! Great venue, course in great condition and food was superb. 5 star!

Absolutely love this place! Such a beautiful location. Every single member of staff I came into contact with were great. Greeted by a huge smile from the nicest welcome and check in I have ever had. Room was spotless, nice comfortable bed and we had breakfast which was delicious. I will be back for sure. Thank you for the wonderful stay. Highly recommended

Really lovely country hotel. Stayed 1 night .Could not fault it staff really pleasant and informative. Had a bar food menu .Varied menu food was lovely plus service. Rooms where lovely and very clean . Also have baths in room. The location is very rural but not far from motorways. Already ear marked this Great Western Hotel as our favourite hotel in the vicinity value for money. The breakfast wa well stocked out and fresh. We were served with coffe or tea at the table. Hence my high score love it

Welcoming service from the receptionist. Dinner was delicious- we had the ribeye steak and burger. Drinks were a bit expensive though. The room was very clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed. Although the decor is dated. Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of it. If we are in the area again, we would definitely stay here.

This was an overnight stay on the way to Yorkshire. So impressed by all the staff who were friendly and helpful. Lovely pool that boys enjoyed- before breakfast! There were even dog bowls and a treat in the room (ground floor only for dogs), and dog friendly bar. Would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay, but biggest surprise was not the place or cuisine, although hotel is very pretty and the meal was very delicious. It was the personnel that made me come here and leave 5 stars. I never felt so much care. Really appreciate you people, thanks.

Lovely hotel. Very clean and well maintained. Good decor. Accessible for wheelchairs. Family friendly. Spa very good two saunas, steam and dry. A jacuzzi, a small pool and seating area. Treatments on site such as massage and facial and nails. A gym suite, but you have to climb stairs for that. There's a lift to access hotel rooms. They have function rooms and a bar serving food and a restaurant. (Same food) I preferred the bar area as it was warm and inviting. Restaurant served same food but lacked atmosphere.. All staff helpful. Plenty of outside parking and a golf course. The negatives are very limited menu for vegetarians. Ate first night in the hotel but not the second night because I did not want to eat the same meal twice. Second night went into the village pub as they had really good range of vegetarian options and it was great value for money. The hotel do not offer cocktails, which was disappointing. Rooms had usual tea coffee biscuits etc. Kettle, hair dryer TV and phone, WiFi and bathroom. Very comfy.

Stayed for a night with family and we had a good time. The location is great, quiet and peaceful. It has ample parking space, a beautiful garden, and an outside porch to sit, drink and dine. The rooms are big and the bed are very comfy. One criticism are the pillows, they definitely need to be replaced as they are pretty deflated 😅 but we still had a great sleep. Also they should provide more toiletries, busy or not (shower gel, shampoo). Cleanliness, I would say 8 out 10, there are some faults but not major ones. The staff are so friendly and helpful. There's also a swimming pool (we had a swim in the morning and its so nice and warm) sauna, and jacuzzi (i think). The restaurat is called Lincoln Bar and restaurant. Good prize, good food and great service! We'll definitely be staying in this hotel again if ever we visit this area again.

My children bought me a Fawlty Towers experience, which was thoroughly enjoyable, at this venue for my birthday. Excellent service from all staff, especially the lady who checked us in. We had breakfast, lunch and evening meal, and all food was delicious. We had an enjoyable stay at this venue again, but being Father's Day, we had to head back home to Wales to see our other children and forego our time using the leisure facilities.

Absolutely brilliant. Have just returned from a 2 night golf weekend with some friends (golfers and non golfers). The gold course is perfect for a players of all abilities, it's fair and in good condition. The hotel staff are really excellent. It doesn't feel like a chain but a private hotel where people actually care about you. A really great couple of days and sensibly priced.

Spa facilities are a little dated but they are clean and fully functional. Staff are great. One read the menu to us while we swam so that we could have our food ready in the bar at the end of our work out!!!!!! Whilst done in jest, you get a sense of personal service the team are happy to provide!

So we stayed here for two nights and I am a little disappointed. When we arrived at 9:30pm no one came to the desk for a good ten minutes, there was no bell to call anyone etc which probably needs to be changed. Also the decor needs a face-lift, it feels very 90's with the carpets and curtains. Also what was a shame is the walls were paper-thin and we could hear the people watching TV late into the night in the next room. We could also hear them talking so it needs some sound proofing installed too. The breakfast was nice but the coffee needs improving - tasted very bland. The service of the breakfast staff was good though, the young lady remembered our coffee requirements from the day before which was nice. Also the area was very nice, we got a lot of coffee and tea for the room when we asked cleaning staff too, that was nice, the room was good and clean and the bed was comfortable too.

Lovely rural location, staff courteous and very friendly and helpful. Room clean and a good size for a standard double. Good choice of dishes on evening menu, we enjoyed our meals. Breakfast was exceptional, my husband said it was the best cooked breakfast he'd had for ages. He didn't have time to play the golf course but was impressed by the standard of the course, and that he would like to return to hotel and play the golf course.

Every member of staff I met was great. Super helpful and very friendly. Nothing was to much trouble. Great location and a decent golf course as well. Good sized pool, steam and sauna rooms and jacuzzi. Will definitely go back.

Had a fantastic 3 day trip to Ullesthorpe GC, very busy weekend with the Captain's Charity on Sat and Sun morning, our Fri round took just over 5 hrs but we did walk, there is a lot of walking between Green and Tees our Sat round was slightly better 4 hr 40 but we did play in the Charity game, on Sun 4 hr 5min. They're putting in a Par 3 course and Driving range should be open next year. The restaurant is only big enough for about 40 person's but the food was good. Breakfast is the same self service everything available, plenty of outside space for drinks and golfers bar also 2 snooker tables. Small pool, sauna and hot tub.

First impressions are not always what they seem. 3 of us went away for our annual 3 night golf break, we booked really late so didn’t have much choice. This venue had availability and decent reviews so we gave it a go. The golf course is of a good standard and even though the greens were sanded and brown for the first day, they still ran true and enjoyable. As the days went on the greens just got better and better and running beautifully. The course is extremely fun with a lot of variety and water in tricky places. It’s maintained well and the pro shop team are welcoming and friendly. Theres a small decent putting green and nice 150 yard practice area where you can use your own balls. They are developing a state of the art practice area and new par 3 course too. Will be back to enjoy that in a few years. We shared a standard double, rooms are clean however a little dated and tight for 2 adults which did at first put me off. However they serve their purpose. Now onto everything else…. The food is absolutely incredible. Chef puts his time and care into the food, you can really tell. All cooked very well and tasty. Breakfast is buffet style and good enough. The staff are also equally incredible, so accomadation and happy to help. Nothings ever too much and everything done with smile. I must say I was not expecting this and completely blown away from what seems like a humble little establishment. The snooker room is a relic and takes me back to my younger years. You can feel the heritage in the room. We didn’t use spa facilities however they looked of a decent standard. Price is very reasonable for the offering considering there was only 3 of us so had to pay a supplement. Overall, a great stay and solid value for money. Highly recommend, just don’t expect much from the standard rooms. You always upgrade. Everything else is excellent.

Lovely duty & pool staff, really made up for any discrepancies with the room. I chose this break as a family holiday, where the kids could get some golf lessons and I could get a spa treatment. Despite asking for golf coaching a week before 3 times and even directly emailing them, we didn’t get a response - unsurprisingly on arrival the golf shop man was unbothered and informed us ‘a coach could have been booked if we asked earlier.’ The pool saved the kids’ holiday and the duty / pool staff are gems. We didn’t have breakfast here. This is a charming aging property on what looked like lovely grounds (no golf so didn’t see those at all sadly).

We've been guests in this hotel for one night. The rooms are clean, there is room service and facilities for disabled people. The only thing not working in our room was the extractor fan in the bathroom. We've not been impressed with the breakfast. The service was scarce and not well organized. The food and bar manager lacked touch when insisted to change us more than what we consumed. This made us feel uneasy. Overall an okay stay ruined by a bad start to the morning.
