Food as always is amazing! I highly recommend a visit here and if you are a vegan/veggie the choice is fantastic. Beautiful pub, lovely atmosphere, now our 'local' even though we have to drive there!

Shocking experience. We booked a table for a Sunday Roast. When we arrived we were told that they have no carrots and parsley left but they can replace it with potatoes and other vegetables. After a long wait we got an apology from a person who was standing at the bar saying that they didn't realise that there is another booking for us and the kitchen throw everything away. They had to cook everything fresh. We accepted and waited. He had dirty clothes and had a strange behaviour. One our later our food arrived. We ate it but we left really disappointed. We had just breakfast and we had our table booked at 15:30. They offered us free dessert and drinks but we just wanted to get out of there. When leaving this guy from the bar who apologized asked with a sarcastic voice ' no ice cream ' That was the end and that's while I'm sharing this long story here. We live in Great Tew and it was not about the free dessert or not paying the bill. You looked like a homeless guy serving food for us. πŸ˜” My wife and our friend had to look at you at the bar while your trousers were falling off. It's a shame for this nice pub.

It is all about the staff! What made the difference, and turned our weekend into a great success, was the friendliness of the staff. The managers and bar staff were really helpful and welcoming (in the evening and at breakfast) and seemed to take an interest in us. We had a good meal on Friday evening although it did seem that the large number of mains on offer were putting undue pressure on the kitchen staff. When we had a chance to chat to the 2 chefs later in the evening, we found them enthusiastic and passionate about food - it would have been good to see what they could produce were they not restricted to the proscribed Wadworth's menu. I would definitely recommend The Falkland Arms and we would return if the occasion arose. The Falkland Arms is a very pretty place and due to its age, we understand the rooms will be small. Our room and bathroom were very small , but were decorated with a comfortable bed, and we felt the pricing (which includes breakfast) took the room size into account.

We've been coming to the Falkland Arms for many years, and it is a lovely spot, especially on a gorgeous Autumn afternoon. We had booked a late slot for lunch - 3pm - and that may have been a mistake. The staff seemed knackered and a bit fed up, and the roast lunch was also very tired. The pork had suffered from being kept warm too long and was leather-tough - 'roast' potatoes on the other hand had obviously been slung par-boiled into an oven when we ordered and were still pallid as a hiker's knees twenty minutes later. I understand it was the end of a long shift for everyone, but your late lunch guests pay the same as everyone else, so either it's everything half price after 2pm, or the standard - both of welcome and food - is the same at 3 as at 12.30. Nice bowl of green veggies, and the beer was good, so all not lost, but wouldn't hurry back.

Beautiful location and made to feel welcome. Wonderful meals and all presented well and together. Well satisfied hungry northerners. All meals enjoyed. Friendly and helpful staff. Will be back when next in area.

Great position and building. Food was good as were the drinks. Only food complaint was that we ordered cheese and it came with half a slice of white supermarket bread as well as some crackers - could have done with a few grapes or apple for Β£10. Some aspects of the stay seemed to lack finesse and hence would have been a 5* with that. Some training at front of house could be a good idea. The lady with the quiet voice was the friendliest.

The pub looks amazing from the outside and the inside is typical of a traditional pub. Unfortunately it appears to be completely let down by the brewery. We were told the new menu had been introduced that day and none of the ingredients had been sent..... in practice that meant 50% of the menu was unavailable. I wish we'd been told when we arrived so we could have gone elsewhere, but we only found out after we'd been left waiting ages as 'we only have 1 chef Monday - Thursday' and he's so busy we cant take too many orders!. The food we has was good, but it was our 3rd choice. My daughter had plain pasta as everything she wanted wasn't available. When I asked, I was given a discount, but it didn't make up for an underwhelming experience. We wont be going back.

Not been here for years but it didn't disappoint. If you want old english charm. the pub itself is beautiful and quaint. The staff were absolutely lovely which is always a good start. Each one of us thought the food was the best we had had for a long while and the puddings were to die for. Had a lovely evening and a wonderful meal, we will be back.

What a great dinner we had and served by such a friendly professional team. A true pub atmosphere with low beamed rafters almost groaning from the weight of hundreds of tankers and jugs. Not a speck of dust on one of them! Low ceilings, an old cast iron range, tiled sloping floors and delicious food. The steak pie was amongst the best and tastiest I've ever had and the cabbage was hot and crunchy. All served with beautifully creamed mash. And that was after a great bowl of leek and potato soup. Highly recommended

You coped so well despite lack of staff and help. Chef was great accommodating allergies. Positive customer service was appreciated. You coped so well just the two of you. I am sure you will recruit soon in a positive environment. Thankyou our Spanish guests loved the pub and village.

You looked after our American Cotswold Expeditions visitors very well. We arrived for our reservation late, but this was no problem for you. Your staff were friendly and helpful in their suggestions for a great light lunch. Our visitors loved it and are coming back with reinforcements.

First visit & definitely will be back. Lovely welcome from the gentleman behind the bar who continued to look after us impeccably..warm cosy atmosphere on an autumn day. Sunday lunch was very tasty only ting gripe it could have been hotter. Apple & celeriac soup was delicious only wish we had of had room for the delicious looking desserts.

Awesome country pub with a great vibe- if you're in the Chipping Norton area, it's a must visit boozer! We had Baked Camembert and Chicken Liver Parfait - both excellent. There were others around the pub having roasts, which smelt and looked decent too!

The most beautiful, perfect pub we have EVER visited!! It was everything we hoped it would be and so much MORE. The atmosphere, food, drinks, staff, location, setting - I cannot fault a thing. Already desperately planning our next visit and very much wish we could move to Great Tew just to have this as our local!

Gorgeous pub, hasn't been messed with. Great staff, roaring fire on a cold wintery day and delicious food. We came across this pub on our honeymoon 23 years ago (on Friday) and have loved it since. Good to be back it was fabulous.

Great place, always busy, despite it's location, really glad we booked - it was rammed. The excellent staff showed us our table - in a corner, but more than enough room. Drinks were great - food was better, their reputation for superb Sunday lunches was maintained, great atmosphere - plus, it was very reasonable!

We came following recommendation of owners of our cottage let. We had our 2 little kids with us and have to say was excellent. Food was delicious, kids portions were excellent value and we're eaten with zero complaints from 2 fussy kids. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the pub had a great local / village atmosphere. Open fire on a cold night is always a positive. Would recommend for anyone visiting and wants a really nice meal.

Wonderful service. Just the best. Mains were good. And very thoughtful to include a gluten free menu. But starters (sort of nibble things) were weak. Low quality sausages, the dipping oil for the bread was flavourless and I seasoned. It was nearly five stars for service, decent mains, an extremely very thoughtful specially gluten free.menu (battered cod made with gluten free flour?) and outstanding puddings. I will return. But nibbles could be improved.

Location is excellent, staff welcoming and helpful. However, the food we had (Burger & Steak Frites) was pricey for a very underwhelming meal. Very small portions of chips and definitely below average burger

A wonderful setting in every sense. Polite and charming staff, who served tasty and piping hot food. Extensive choice of, cocktails, wines and beers. But: The room was cold when we took our seats at 12:30 and our food was served without a reasonable gap between the starter and main. Thank you for a lovely lunchtime experience.

My partner somehow found this place and decided we had to drive in from London just to give it a go. We’ve never been so happy we did that. We arrived right at peak lunchtime, but managed to find a table outside in the sunshine. They had a really nice selection of drinks available, so I had a Prosecco and my hubs had an Italian beer. The food menu was extensive, but the pub sadly hadn’t received a meat delivery that day and so had no beef/ham/burgers. Disappointed at first, we ordered the fish and chips and the mackerel fish cakes. We couldn’t be happier with these choices. The fish was fresh and crispy, the mackerel was also fresh and really nicely flavored with dill and beets. The pub is centrally located in Great Tew, and a nice spot for taking a circular walk afterwards. Our dog was welcomed inside and out, which was an added bonus.

We came today for the Fathers Day roast. It was our first visit and the food was amazing. The service was fantastic. We will definitely be coming back.

A lovely old original English pub set in a stunning village location. I have known the pub for many years and was just a bit disappointed with our lunch. The wait for the main course seemed a bit long as they were not very busy and my quiche and salad was lacking flavour and imagination. The junior staff did not seem well trained when it came to the bar service either.

Lovely old pub with a great atmosphere. The room we stayed in was spacious with comfy bed and en suite . The food was equally excellent. (Bed and breakfast with evening meal) the spiral staircase to the various floors was fun to negotiate and the very creaky floorboards added to the character of the place. The staff were extremely friendly 😁

The food was dreadful. The salmon was completely dry. Noodles mush. The pie looked like a it had been blowtorched and was dry inside. The fish and chips.. soggy and grey. Seven month ago the food here was fantastic. Embarrassed that I have recommended the Falkland Arms. I really hope that no one actually went. Devastatingly bad.

Hadn't been here in many years. Came up from London to meet an old friend and we came for lunch on a lovely sunny day. They've maintained the interior really well; it's so nice stepping into a pub of this age with the flagstone floor and old furniture. The meal was very good and the service hospitable and efficient. Whilst I didn't pay, I know it wasn't overpriced for what we had. Well worth a visit.

Excellent lunch-time service despite the pub being pretty much full. Genuine welcome, and the beer ( of which there were several choices on pump) was pretty much on form as well. Heaven. It was just before Christmas and I think I could hear the Angels singing !! Probably making their way here........................

A perfect country inn in a picturesque Cotswold village. We stayed one night for a family gathering in the pub, Sunday lunch through to Monday lunch, 6 of us. Lovely welcome, charming traditional bar, good selection of well kept beers. The food was all excellent, good variety including vegetarian options, beautifully presented and all very tasty. The rooms are very impressive, varying sizes but all well appointed and charming. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. All very good value. We shall return. Highly recommended.

Love this pub. I found it 30 years ago when I was driving around literally following a rainbow 🌈 and it touched down on the roof of the pub. Back then you could get a clay pipe filled with Twist tobacco for £1, a pinch of snuff for 50p or a bag of chestnuts to roast by the fire. And ok, so maybe the clay pipes and snuff have had to go but The Falkland Arms is still my idea of the quintessential English Country pub where you can get great beer, a delicious Sunday Roast and top notch service.

Not impressed by this pub at all. The place looked quite dirty and the food was below average. Some items were not available on the menu. I ordered the steak and asked for it to be cooked medium to well and it came out completely raw. Even after it had been corrected, the meal as a whole was very basic. My husband had the pie which was over cooked and the pastry almost burnt. He had already finished eating by the time my meal had returned so we essentially ate lunch separately. Would not recommend this pub and it’s not a place we will be returning to.
