I, as an Eritrean, visiting the country for the first time, Ethiopia is really blessed with everything that one could dream of having. The moment I stepped on the grounds of KURIFTU, Resort, the air sipped into my veins, and I couldn’t believe the degree of wow I felt. The stone masonry along the engraved cultural pictures on them, the sealing of the restaurants, the tables and chairs them selves are quite elegant that I could associate with, truly represents Ethiopia. The food and how it’s presented, you wouldn’t find such organic food and presentation anywhere in the world. The peace you feel, the instant gratification and calmness you feel, .... taking a shower after kayaking for 30 min, ... this is truly a place where everyone should visit. Every dime that I spent was worth spending.
This is the place to stay. We are an adoptive family with children born in Ethiopia. We came back to our children’s country of birth for family connections and positive cultural experiences. Kuriftu was almost literally the perfect place for our family to relax and reflect. Highly recommend.
For the very best getaway in area, Kuriftu remains the ultimate destination. Great service, stunning resort, food was great too. What a beautiful and calming place. It’s really a must visit! Plenty of activities also available. Don’t miss out on a trip. I’d highly recommend it.
A nice gateway! Serene atmosphere with scenic view of the lake. Quiet and calming. We booked the presidential suite and additional rooms to stay as a group with friends. Rooms were spacious and neat. It was weekday and the place was not crowded. Service was good and staff were nice. A good place to wind down and relax. Would definitely go again!
From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm welcome and cocktail drinks. I've been visiting this place for 12 years, and the service remains consistently excellent. They've even added more rooms and restaurant since my first visit. However, I noticed that the Ethiopian flag at the entrance is faded and torn, and it could use a replacement. The lunch buffet offers a limited selection of food for the price, but the welcome cocktails in the late afternoon are a delightful way to kick off your drinks. The butchery is impressive, and the kitfo portion is generous enough for two people to share. The rooms are fantastic, and it's lovely to stroll around in the evening. Accessibility for wheelchairs is also a plus. My 12-year experience still earns it a solid 5-star rating.
It's a great place to take a short vacation. My only disappointment is that you have to purchase the buffet if you want to do a day visit of the resort on the weekend. The buffet is NOT that good. Canoeing on the other hand was great as long as there are some clouds.
