Very impressive building. The sheer scale of it is breathtaking. If you want to make it to the top viewing platform, be prepared for narrow staircases because the elevator does NOT go all the way to the top. This is one of those monuments where the focus has shifted from what it commemorates to the monument itself. Most people visit it to see the building and admire its architectural design rather than think about the event for which it was built.

I liked it very much. It's a huge monumental construction, very impressive. Entrance costs 10€, but you actually can have a look inside for free, if you go on foot to the top of the stairs and enter the monument from there. I think this gives you quite a good impression of how it looks, you can see all the huge statues and the dome. Definitely is worth a visit

Beautiful, but must take ~320 steps to reach to the top of the building, the path and steps can be narrow. But you can get a good town view from the top. Must visit landmark while you in Leipzig:) We went on a weekend just right after opening at 10am- less crowded & peacefully explored, around 11-12pm we saw big crowd coming.

If you're a person who is in to monuments, history and culture, this is definitely one of those places you should visit. The monument has several levels, most of them are accessible through a lift. Senior citizens and people who have trouble climbing stairs can avoid taking the stairs. The last level is accessible only via a narrow staircase. €10 every fees. Clean toilets available.

Sehr interessant.

This monument is in a beautiful, historical location and is still incredibly large and well-kept. You are welcome to go there and explore it with your friends and family. Visit on a sunny day.

I enjoyed this monument more than I thought I would. The big statues reminded me of ancient statues. The acoustics inside are pretty good. The whole experience is maze-like, going up the narrow stairways. The views at the top are great. Remember to get your ticket below, before you climb the stairs to the entrance.

One of the fifteen national monuments referred to as "Denkmals" this is the largest although in this authors opinion not the most impressive. Although it is impressive. If you come to Leipzig this is absolutely a must see.

Fascinating details about the events that resulted in the construction of this monument. The war against Napoleon and his troops, the role of the league of nations, and the eventual lasting victory despite previous defeats and retreats. Every detail on and in the monument is specific and intentional. If you ever visit Leipzig, it is worth a visit. The pool just in front has beautiful pisces 🐠 inhabitants.

The architect and the surrounding was indeed beautiful and surreal. It has a wonderful battle history and the whole structure is amazingly huge and we can also go at the top and have a stunning view of the city. If you are in Leipzig, it’s a must visit place. 😄🙌🏻

I must say the monument was very impressive. Entrance was 10 euros with an extra 2 euros for the audio guide. I would recommend that you take the audio guide as it gives you so much more information. The audio guide is available in English. There are 350 plus steps to get to the top but the views of Leipzig are spectacular. The museum covers the battle itself. This is where the audio guide really does come into it's own. It gives a view from the people that lived in Leipzig at the time of the battle and explains some of the exhibits and the reason for the battle. We spent approximately 3 hours here and another 40 minutes at cafe at the other end of the monument

We visited it on the Early morning, had seen alot of fitness freaks around the track. It's such an amazing place to visit, after knowing the history we felt great about it. We were surprised to know that it's the largest monument built in Europe, that's definitely something to cherish rest of our lives. So, all in all, to sum up it's little far to the Leipzig hauptbanhof, but it's must visit place. We spent the best time when the sun is rising, and the reflections over the pond.

Are you fat, have health problems, do you want to see the Giant Monument to the Battle of the Nations? Congratulations, you've come to the perfect place. 1. Beautiful scenic view. 2. Treadmill. 3. Museum, which is optional, but for cash. 4. Nearest park

In the autumn of 1813, from October 16 to 19, there was a bloody battle for supremacy in Europe. The result was a defeated France and Napoleon. and a hundred thousand dead. This battle also brought another gift with it: the typhoid epidemic that followed claimed the lives of ten percent of the population around leipzig. But at least there was an imposing national monument hundreds of years later after this carnage. It weighs three hundred thousand tons and is ninety-one meters high and looks quite martial but blends in well with the sunset.

Famous landmarks of Leipzig that you must see when you visit this place. Just take the tram by your hotel, our hotel near marketplace or the car must be easier to reach.

It’s a huge architecture for a monument. A monument backed with German nationalist motivation while it was built but it’s least been memorialized now and people are more looking at the architecture. It’s possible to get to middle viewing floor with two different lifts but the top observation deck is only accessible by very narrow and long stairs.

A great place to see historical moments from WWI ( weapons, uniforms and buildings) which happened in Leipzig, and for sure the most that we loved about this place was the top of the building that shows the whole city around! It was breathtaking and deserves a visit!

Monumental place with really majestic sculptures. You can go to the very top, just that the staircase is very narrow. Few of the exhibitions were behind closed doors.

Amazing experience. I have travelled only in Europe and have never seen something like that before. The ticket is 10€ and I don't think that you'll need the audio guide. Be prepared as you can use the elevator for the most part, but to get to the top you'll need to use stairs and it might be stressful for some. Although, it is worth it.

Unmissable point for a visit in Leipzig. All parts of the monument are accessible for visitors including a stunning view over the entire town.

  • 5/5 Paul B. 1 year ago on Google
Very peaceful to visit. It feels like a very secular monument to the Prussian people who endured Napoleon’s invasion. It take peace time to build such a monument. Unfortunately the peace time would not last with the start of World War 1 and the damage is from World War 2. In the United States we are letting our World War 1 monuments crumble and allowing capitalism to take over our sense of duty. A concept most Americans can not grasp, but something Germans understand. This is a place of mourning but today it is a place to enjoy life with families.

Interesting monument, beautiful architecture. Too many stairs to climb tho. But there is an elevator inside for some parts of the building.

I liked the museum very much. Leipzig is a must-see museum. It is a very impressive and explanatory museum. Germany's confrontation with its war history has been very effective. He should learn such lessons. I recommend it to anyone who visits Leipzig. It is a worth seeing place. The interior of the monument should definitely be visited. If you want to capture beautiful photo frames, I recommend you to visit it in the afternoon.

Truly an impressive monument. I didn't have the time (or energy) to make it all the way to the top, but just seeing it from the ground and lower platform is a joy.

Local guide recommended us this place. We've just stopped on our way to south. Looks impressing. You can go inside a tower to a very top.

You can't understand the size of this monument by Google photos, it's just unbelievable! Amazing place, so clean, super powerful. Super recommended! Entry price: 10euros. You really need to see the 360 outside terrace! Windy and beautiful. **The stairs are super narrow, which gave me small anxiety, take your time, bring water.

Impressive monument in the south of Leipzig. It's a very tidy area surrounded by a huge cemetery that is also worth a visit. We did not go inside, but it was still worth the trip.

I really like this place. Been twice and not crowded. I love walking from the back of the place to the front lake as it opens the place up as you walk around. The monument is very impressive. Especially considering it is built in the 19th century. Very grand and epic to stand there. The lovely lake and had kids paddling in it on one end. There is a door at the base of the monument and you really appreciate the sense of scale when people are standing at the base. I will be going back regularly and its completely free unless you wish to go inside.

The monument is enormous towering over the city of Leipzig. It is easy to reach and offers a great history on one of the few battles Napoleon lost. Admission is reasonable and spend the extra euro for it.

A beautiful combination of both History and Art. If you have friends surrounded and you are curious enough, this place could be a nice spot to visit. :))

  • 5/5 Elena P. 2 years ago on Google
Very beautiful. Paying just €10 (€8 for students) you can go up to the very top of the monument climbing 500 steps in narrow spaces, the tiring way is totally worth it the view! Furthermore you can enter in the museum nearby and see ancient exhibits from the battle of nations.

Nice ancient place , great history behind this monument and still the monument is so huge and clean. You can visit the place go around with your friends . Advise from my aide visit on sunny day and look it for a night view

We didn't get to go inside because of lack of time but it was really cool to see even from the outside. Something that looks so out of place in a European setting. Amazingly built. You do have to climb a bunch of stairs to go up to the main floors...for those who are physically disabled. But I think there is an elevator somewhere inside.

  • 5/5 Florida C. 2 years ago on Google
So much history. You need to expierence it yourself. The hight felt a little scary and unfortunally we didnt made it all to the top but a place you didnt eant to miss when in Leipzig.

Stunning views. Great to visit with a group of friends on holiday. Sit by the lake to enjoy and admire the view. Relaxing and Recharging place.

Very large monument (Europe's tallest) to commemorate Germany's win over Napoleon in Leipzig at the Battle of the Nations. Impressively large with a reflection pool that was worth the quick stop. Paid admission is also available, but we just walked around outside. Since I can't speak to the inside (so we didn't have the full experience), I gave 4 stars instead of 5.

If you're in the area and interested in history - visit this one! It cost me 10€ entry, and then I headed inside. There's a lift, but if you want to truly see everything, you cannot avoid the stairs. Overall there are about 500 of them, but as I combined lift with stairs, I climbed about 250, I guess. The view from the top is nice, but the one from the Panorama Tower in the city is way better.

  • 5/5 Duncan B. 1 year ago on Google
Fascinating place to visit with beautiful views over the city. The cost of entry is reasonable and the provision of a lift is useful. The stairs are very narrow in places but well worth the climb!

  • 2/5 fatuma k. 1 year ago on Google
A missed opportunity!!!! First off the monument is GRAND!! It's huge and seated not far from the road a few minutes walk from the tram and you are there. You can take a few pictures from the outside and up to the second floor without needing to pay for entry tickets. If that's all you need then it's something you should definitely check out when you're in the city. However, for the paying customer it almost feels like a rip off (€10 a pop) for essentially a few statues and very very limited information. And that's something that's surprising for a monument this grand. Some basic information should be readily available for example what the monument represents and what it is for ( even the brochure misses this aspect). There's an "information center" in the basement of the monument that lacks the information part. There is a 20minute video on loop that doesn't really say much either ( another lost opportunity). If you don't go in then you've not missed much. Maybe the people responsible for this place should think about how to elevate it beyond what it is now.

  • 5/5 Liwa N. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely breathtaking. The local tram brings you straight to the monument so it is very convenient to visit. The approach to the monument is stunning, with a giant pool of water, trees lining the boundaries and the monument off in the distance. It was fairly busy when we went, 11am-ish on a weekday during autumn. In combination with the fact that there are stairways that get narrow, it can likely feel very crowded and claustrophobic for some. The monument itself is incredible, and you get gorgeous views of the city and surroundings from the height. Inside there are a lot of magnificent statues to see. The worst part is the stairway that taunts you by counting down every 50 steps, my legs are still sore!! In all seriousness, it was well worth the visit, and the stairs, walking up gifts you a treat at the top, more amazing vistas. There is a very small museum attached, a small bistro for food and drinks that is located in the front so you get a good view of the monument. Iconic scenery for a powerful time in history. Thank you Leipzig!!

This place is just grand. It can offer soo much! The history and the architecture can give you soo much. This place has a different energy. The views from the top are very beautiful. You can see the whole city from the top. I highly recommend to go inside the monument and see the history events and the views.

  • 5/5 Shubhi J. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful place to visit which has historical significance. The stairs to go up on the top deck are round. It's a amazing experience to visit the Monument. It has a big park in the surrounding which adds its beauty 😍. There are very big stone statues and colorful murals inside the Monument. The view of Leipzig city from the top deck is just mesmerizing.
