Delicious ice cream 🍦 We had the flavors of the day, black cherry 🍒 it was good. If you are in Rapid City then I would recommend checking out this local favorite.

I had the brownie delight. Just a heads up that they put peanuts in it although the menu didn't say peanuts. I didn't mind but someone else could be allergic.

Great ice cream shop. Indoor and outdoor seating were available during our visit. There were signs about fresh peaches being in season, and the peach cobbler sundae in a waffle bowl was very good. The Italian ice is a nice non-dairy option, notably better than the standard shush option at other ice cream shops. Also, self serve free water.

Peach cobbler was good and not very sweet except for the caramel (which is perfect). The line is very long but they are quick to serve after that.

We ordered the Magic Brownie Sundae. It was very good! The portion size was large enough to share. The price was reasonable. Friendly staff and being busy we didn't have a long wait to receive our dessert. I would add this to your places to visit while in RC.

Armadillos is the place to be in Rapid City! I grew up on the East Coast where soft-serve ice cream is a summertime staple and “custard stands” are a’plenty, but Armadillos is a cut above them all both in terms of quality and variety - a rare gem in the Midwest! Great service too! They have burgers, sandwiches, and other food as well, but to be honest I didn’t get to experience that. I was in Rapid City for 5 days recently, I had ice cream from Armadillos every day, and was never disappointed! Their “sherbet of the day” is a great addition! And if ya like Root Beer Floats, you MUST try a Root Beer Sherbet and Vanilla Ice Cream Twist! There is nothing like it! Seriously, probably the best dessert I’ve ever had! If you’re ever in the Black Hills, you owe it to yourself to experience Armadillos!

The place was constantly busy, but the line moved quickly and my strawberry shortcake sundae was out fast. Boy, was it delicious!

I tried the Ranger Rick, a mint oreo sundae and my mom had the armadillo. Both were amazing, I added some gummy worms to mine, loved it. I always have to stop by and get my ice cream fix from Armadillos at least once if not twice while I visit. A must if you are ever in the area!

Great service and so much ice cream and shakes to choose from! I loved the slushy float! My kids all ordered something different and they were all so good! You can’t go wrong here, they have what you want!

This might be an unpopular opinion. But I am a die heart sweet-eater. And ridiculously passionate about my dessert. This was does have wide variety of dessert but they bit too sweet. I know desserts re suppose to be ‘sweet’ but my chocolate brownie was sweet to the extent I couldn’t eat it after 4 spoons. And I have 32 sweet teeth so I have very high threshold for sweet. Personal advice- 1 one-size dessert can easily feed 3 adults. There is so much !

Very friendly service. They handled our large family very well. The ice cream was delicious, and they had so many flavor combinations. There was something for everyone which can be very challenging. We will have to stop by again the next time we come this way. Thanks!

Great local soft serve. Locally owned and operated. They rotate through homemade flavors.

I feel bad thinking this place is meh. Most Rapid Citizens (Rapid Citians? Rapidians? You know, locals) love this place and sing its praises to anyone who will listen. And I get it. Local ice cream places are special. This one has only been in this location for a decade or so, but there's still a lot of nostalgia. And even though it's a newish building, it's got some neat old school callbacks: umbrella table seating out front, ordering windows outside, cool blue neon, giant booths inside. But the ice cream is... okay. It's really just glorified soft serve. A lot of the flavoring is done with bottle syrups. It's all cold and sweet, but that's about it. Compared to the local ice cream shops in other towns (I think about Pierre, Sioux Falls, Billings, Cheyenne) where they serve real, house-made, high-fat ice cream, it really can't compete. Don't get me wrong - it's still a neat place to get a shake and go hang out, and we do - it's just not mind-blowing. Set your expectations accordingly, and you'll have a fine time.

They have vanilla and chocolate soft serve. Soft serve is not ice cream (to set expectations). That’s it. As someone from New England, I was expecting something more from an ice cream shoppe :) That said, the sundae was tasty.

This ice cream shop offers your typical, run-of-the-mill ice cream combinations and flavors. From basic soft serve on traditional cone to malts and Root Beer floats, there is a nostalgic quality. The location is aptly situated with free parking along the street. The seating occupancy inside the building is a bit limited, but there are outside seating stations with umbrellas available to adequately compensate. Very reminiscent of an A&W and Coldstone Creamery combined, this ice cream parlor offers a family-friendly experience and a decent variety. The staff are quite hospitable and welcoming and work efficiently to get orders out in a timely and smooth fashion. The only notable issue to speak of based on first impression is the underwhelming interior design, as there are very few decorations or insights into locale history to properly infuse ample relief from the bare walls.

Very few ice cream flavors VCS, but lots of different toppings to choose from. The waffle bowl is served in a plastic cup but why? I had Rosie's Apple Pie sundae which had apples and caramel, the wife had Sandi's sundae with banana and hot fudge. Lots of ice cream.

Soft serve isn’t typically my jam but dang was this GOOD. My sundae, which was chocolate soft serve covered with peanut butter dip, hot fudge, and nuts may be the sundae by which I judge all others in the future. I got a medium, which is quite large, and only $6. 💯💯💯 Armadillos offers so many different types of sundaes and every single one of them looked amazing. This place was busy on a warm night but they had ample outdoor and indoor seating.

Lots of delicious options to choose from. And many different ways to have it done up! If you want delicious, home made ice cream, shakes or other delicatessens, this is the place to go!

Greatest selection of ice cream, I have found in Rapid City. I can't wait to try more and also check out the food items.

This ice cream shop is AMAZING! Expect a line when you arrive because it's just that good! Their list of ice cream sundaes, malts, and shakes is extensive, with the most amount of options I have seen anywhere! Their prices are fair & I was very impressed with how fast they kept the lines moving and their patience with the line growing! Hands down a summer must!
