Good range of shops inside and out. Free to use toilets. Always a plus. Heritage centre sadly only has very limited opening but has some very interesting items from the past in its window displays.

Accrington used to be a bustling town centre. Unfortunately there are now a lot of empty shops. The market is worth a visit but little else at the moment. It is rumourmed that investment is going to be made to improve it. I would suggest you look at neighboring Great Harwood which is loaded with independent shops and is a pleasure to visit.

It's ok. Unfortunately there isn't much to do in the arndale. A few smaller bargain shops and charity shops. It's great that you can park for the day for a £1 though so you can go to the arndale, market, charity shops etc and make a day of it.

All that's lacking is a couple of dust devils and some tumbleweed.

Not worth the land it is built on!!! Poor choice of shop's waisted space with absolutely nothing to attract visitors or local residents! The whole town is becoming the metropolitan centre of charity shops and bookies.

Last time I was in the town was sometime ago ,I noticed that shops have closed and there are more take aways , Over the years the town has changed not for the good , shopping in the town isn't worth doing. No big name shops anymore like m&s as that has gone and so have many others , I live in Accrington and I now go shopping elsewhere, Accrington has lost it vibe .

I'm only 32, but I remember when it was a great place years ago with the clock, shops open, lots of people. It's now just an empty shell with only one or two things open and so very few people, which is a shame.

Lovely inside but definitely nothing there , only savers , Holland and barret ,card shop worth looking at , sorry I live close to Accrington wouldn’t like to spend money getting there it would be wasted

Ok, some good shops but a lot is dated an small. Staff generally friendly, parking is cheap and what is in there is good. Just not a great choice. 15 minutes and you will be finished. However inside is clean, toilets can be ok or an absolute mess.

Nice place. Not like it used to be. The market is non existent, like a lot of other places. We like to visit Clarkys cafe in the indoor market area, up the stairs. Very nice people and a great menu. Best go with an appetite.

Very sad to see our arndale with only 3 shops now in it. A waste of space that should never have been opened originally. It needs turning into affordable flats. So sad.

Absolutely appalling, more shops closed than open and those open were nearly all charity shops. Looked deserted and neglected. My first visit to Accrington and looks like my last. Totally depressing place. Council need another plan as the one they have is obviously not working.

This place is OK but seem to be going down a bit it seem to have lost ability of its spark I remember when it use to be a very busy place but now not so if you need cards or pound land or a chemist then this is your place a very good pro for it is it has a Sunday Market on its car park

  • 2/5 Sharon F. 10 months ago on Google
It's an absolute shame that this once busy mall is now a shell of its former self. There is not a lot if shops there and it's depressing.

Nice shopping arcade - we also went to the market hall which is just fantastic, great historic character with a great section of shops and superb value and quality. We were up from London in Blackburn and had a little wander about, Accrington is a really nice town and the council/tourism need to sell it a bit, we only found it by chance.

There are literally only 3 shops in the arcade worth having, Holland and Barratt, W H Smith and a discount place. The arcade is otherwise filled with empty shops, charity shops or there's what seems to be a museum type place that's never open. There's a cafe type place near the car park entrance, but I think I've only ever seen it open once in about 6 months. It's sad that the only real worthwhile thing about the arcade is the car park attached, but even then, it's not all open. Worth giving a miss

Depressing experience showing just how the high street is collapsing. Closed shops with the only open ones being large national brands that can afford the cost of rents and rates.

Empty shops just a walkway to other places. Used to be a thriving part of the town

Whether it's extortionate rents, or the fabulous policy to charge for parking, the Arndale is dying. It's a tragedy and the council need to do something about it. Also, whatever genius re-did the disabled bays - those gaps between the bays? Those exist for a reason. Maybe actually consult with some actual disabled people next time? Maybe even ones who know why we need the extra space. (Wheelchairs, ramps, other mobility aids)

Not like it used to be. Very few people around and not many good shops anymore. Shame for what was once a vibrant town.

  • 3/5 Julian B. 8 months ago on Google
Very quiet here most of the shops are shut not what it used to be

  • 3/5 Anthony A. 8 months ago on Google
Definitely in need of more shops instead of charity shops just nothing there anymore used to be great years ago

  • 1/5 Honest R. 4 months ago on Google
It's so sad. The council should let the shops out at a very small fee instead of hiking up prices that's why it's pretty much just shut down now

It's a small arcade with very little to offer, except for a very nice pharmacy inside Superdrugs. Excellent service and brilliant staff. The shop is nice but like most shops very narrow lsles and stuff crammed on every space

The signage entering the car park os non exitant, i pulled up on the ground level, then had to walk up the urine infested stairs to the pay machine to then walk back down the same stairs to the car and back up again! I felt like a needed a shower by the time i eventually got to the practically only useful shop left which was boots opticians. The arndale centre is not fit for purpose anymore. Dont ask why i didnt use the lift, if the stairs were that bad i didnt want to experience being trapped in a metal box that could potentially have smelt worse. Town centre shopping centres all over our region are presumably charging high rents that mean good local businesses cannot afford to keep trading, therefore nobody goes to town anymore, its a viscious circle, but come on arndale put a lock on the door so rough sleepers etc cant use your stairs as a toilet. Never ever coming back

Not like it used to be. Back in the day it was an attraction to witness the hourly event ov the clock opening. It was awsome now it lives on you tube . It used to be bustling with shops and people now it's just a sheltered walk through between union st and Broadway including access to the car park .

Absolute dump, no shops here, the town is boring, my car got locked in the car park and a sign on the 3rd saying they close at 4.15 on bank holiday but who the hell is looking up that far. Had to pay to get my car out.

  • 3/5 David S. 2 years ago on Google
I worked in the arndale at Iceland. It would be a fantastic place to shop but unfortunately half the stores have closed and they seems to be can't beotherd to get them full again. I can remember going to Accrington as a child and spend half-day they shopping, can't do that now more like a hr now what a shame. Same with Blackburn now .

It is a shame that there are shops unoccupied, but there is still a good range of shops. It is somewhere that I shop regularly. It is always clean and there is great parking, although you do have to pay now to park.

What a shame. I remember when it opened with a fanfair with a beautiful clock as it centre piece that's now been ripped out. Only a handful of shops left. The rest sit empty or have been replaced with charity shops. 30mins free parking (also applies to Blue badge disabled parking) but go one minute over and expect to get slapped with a £60 fine. The owners have a responsibility to the town to fix this but they won't. Time to pull this now eyesore down and replace it was something the town wants and needs.

Past it's best. Pay for parking after 30 minutes. Almost No shops open. .

Well laid out and relatively clean shopping mall. There are some stalls within the mall such as telephone and some cosmetics. Good range of shops. Gradually reopening after restrictions but there are some empty lots also

  • 1/5 Beth S. 2 years ago on Google
Nothing there anymore more second hand shops than anything

  • 4/5 Danny M. 2 years ago on Google
Shame to see it so empty these days used to be a real hub of the town. The cashpoint at wh smiths is unusable as the screen is too dim. Not many shops open but oddies is always a treat.

As always happy and friendly people around

  • 3/5 Richard W. 2 years ago on Google
The shopping centre is clean and well signposted, with an array of retail premises. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the car park and toilets access, this area is poorly light and open to the weather.

  • 1/5 John S. 2 years ago on Google
If it would allow I wouldn't have given a star, the local councillor's have made impossible for shops to trade here due to the high rents and hbc councillor's want it turned into flats, more money into their own individual pockets!

This town is not like before many shops are closed May be corona virus is the reason. Hardly people around. I hope council try and revive this ghost town by investing some money in or decreases the rent of the shops.

Such a shame, lots of the shops have gone, was a really bustling place before lockdown.

What a disappointment, went boxing day and found a sign apologising for inconvenience as it was shut. Not many shops to begin with but I think the town are giving up on their shopping centre with all the vacant stores. Shame to see the town depleting as rapidly as it seems to be

Best thing about Accrington is the transport links permitting a speedy exit to thriving towns such as Blackburn or Burnley. The town has been pushed into a sad and depressing decline by high rental costs forcing traders out only to be replaced by second hand tat shops. I'm an Accrington resident and this lack of investment and care in local infrastructure infuriates me.

Food festival on at the moment with Belgian waffles, Istanbul and Asian fare. Macaroon stall and wooden chess stall. Reenactment due so should be good. Bought food from a couple of stalls and the fantastic veg stall that is on the open market. Accrington is really trying to be noticed.

Few shops and cafe under this that have been here a while Some others were useful but don't get used to it because next time you visit it is likely to be very different.

The Arndale is slowly giving up the ghost. Foot fall seems less each time I visit. In truth my only reason to pass through this centre is due to my having used the car parking area.

  • 2/5 Imran A. 2 years ago on Google
This was a fantastic place to come and shop but sadly in the last decade has fallen as alot of town centres have. Not sure if its the rent that's too high for shops or what. They should bring back the clock. At least its better than having it locked away.

  • 2/5 Paul S. 2 years ago on Google
I genuinely felt sorry for the staff doing their best to attract customers into this place. The roof was leaking, many of the stores were closed due to the idiotic rent charges, and nobody trusts the parking due to the charges and fines.

  • 4/5 Robin A. 2 years ago on Google
Very clean, friendly staff, but sparse. Lots of charity shops, cafe and bakery, and a WHSmith. Most places closed whenever I go there. Watch out for parking spaces- so few customers the Management will go after you for any indiscretion- and the parking space lines are all but gone. Also, watch out for driving the wrong way.. think I'm the only 1 who ever sees the No Entry signs 🤣🤣

I can buy what need easily and age UK is there. I needed a new cupboard for my kitchen and there was one in made of oak 3 draws 3 cupboards with shelves just right for £75. I look on the Internet one similar to that cost £550. Good deal I would say.
