It was 2019 when our sail & lunch was booked, owing to covid it was the 8th October 2021when we eventually had the experience . I must say we were very pleased with everything . All the staff were very polite , respectful ,friendly & pleasant . The barge diner was very clean & well set out. We had a three course pre booked lunch with soup, roast chicken / beef to follow with a choice of deserts . Wine , spirits , hot & cold drinks available to order . The whole meal was expertly cooked & presented everything was perfect a reflection of the skill of the catering staff and waitress attendance . The barge diner is equipped with a flushing toilet . Access onto the barge for very tall people may be a little awkward in order not to hit their head but that said just have to be a little careful. We were fortunate it was a sunny day so the views were that much better . The sail lasted around three hours sailing from the birthing mid point along the canal in both directions . Thank you for the experience we had and would recommend the venue without exception.

"The Romance" - the restaurant barge. A really delightful way to spend a Sunday lunchtime gently drifting along the canal. The barge was very neatly laid out and the tables nicely set..... and the three course meal did not disappoint. With a small but well stocked bar to compliment your luncheon and attentive and pleasant service from two staff on board. Impressive that with 20 something on board and in the confines of a small galley, the meals were prepared by one chef... hats off to him. The three hours return journey was scenic and serene. Thank you to all the staff and crew for such a wonderful time. Highly recommended.

I booked a surprise lunch cruise for my 93 year old mother. Nigel was very helpful in planning the occasion, setting tables for the 6 of us in the bow of the boat. The boat itself was beautiful inside and nicely decorated. The staff were helpful and courteous. The meal was delicious and plentiful and there were good intervals between the courses. The price of drinks was very reasonable. The 3 hours flew by and we all agreed what a wonderful afternoon it had been. I would highly recommend this cruise.

Our son had his reception aboard and it could not have been better! The food was amazing, drinks reasonably priced and the staff attentive and friendly. I cannot recommend them enough! A fantastic day.

Had a meal on this canal trip. The food was lovely, had full roast dinner with seasonal veg followed by apple pie. They also had a good selection of drinks. The only disappointing thing was the derelict area we had to drive through to get to the barge.

Had a 3 course Christmas lunch on here last Sunday (5/12/21)with a group of friends. The food and service was 5 star. Didn't get to see much scenery due to the time of year but still v.much worth it

Excellent evening. Food was very good and staff friendly. Trip along the canal passed by so smoothly it didn't seem like two and a half hours. Well worth booking.

Beautiful surroundings, excellent boat nicely decorated and comfortable. Drinks list was extensive and good choices of cocktails etc Staff very pleasant and friendly. Went on an evening Tapas cruise, birthday treat, absolutely loved my evening. Saw some interesting wildlife and flora.

Had a fantastic week on the King Lous last month courtesy of John and Louis. We went from Riley Green to Skipton and back. John and Louis took us through the first set of locks and "showed us the ropes". I wasn't exactly looking forward to it, as I'd never done it, but the peace and quiet just going along some lovely parts of the country was just what was needed. Some lovely places along the way to stop and just relax. Weather was very kind too! Steering the boat was great once you got used to it. There was six of us and 2 dogs in an 8-berth and it had plenty of room once we got hang of it. Boat had all facilities that you need. Thanks to John and Louis for making it a special week! Would recommend this holiday and company.

It was so lovely to be back on board Romance again yesterday. What an amazing job they have done with the refurbished interior, it looks like a different boat! We joined the tapas cruise and set sail on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The food was excellent, the Spanish themed plates just kept coming all evening, we couldn't eat it all! Well done everyone involved in creating another wonderful experience. Thank you.
