We had a large group of adults, playing boardgames, eating and drinking all weekend. The kitchens are great with minor grumble that the fans are underpowered, but you can open a lower door and window to mitigate. Oven dishes all actually fit the agas and knives were OK sharpness wise. Layout of general space was great. All the cottages for sleeping were well maintained, but the plumbing, based on powered suction could be loud at night. It's a great space for large groups and we'd go again.

A wonderful location for larger groups, with a series of well-appointed, cosy cottages surrounding a central courtyard. Having an entire pub to yourself is a lovely experience; they can even hook up a keg of ale to one of the pumps! Everything was clean, bed linen and towels provided, and there is a great little general store just over the road. My kids enjoyed the large bathtub, and we enjoyed the large beer fridges! We will definitely be returning.

Lovely place to stay. Loots of room for entertainment, and great location to go out and about.

We filled most of the cottages and main house. The weather was against us and with several kids to entertain, it could have been tough, however it wasn't. The bar area was a great communal space and the local ale on tap was a win. The outside courtyard was great when the weather broke long enough for a BBQ! The kitchen was well equipped and plenty of fridges, cookers and storage to feed a houseful. The rooms were clean, modern and comfy. There were a few plug sockets that didn't work. The WiFi was pants and there's little to no mobile signal. While I'm happy being off grid it did cause issues when some of our party got list and couldn't contact anyone. The service from the owners was great. Hopefully we'll be back in future.

We visited with a group of 35 or so, accommodation was lovely and good facilities. Beautiful surroundings and a great place for a nice weekend gathering.

Stayed here with a group of about 35 people. It was excellent, probably the best venue for a large group of people I've ever used. Kitchen had everything we needed and rooms were clean.

Wow, what a place. Perfect for special occasions, large groups, etc. 5 star accommodation. Lovely little village, with places to eat and drink, though very large, fully fitted kitchen, in the converted pub, if you fancy doing it yourselves.

Fabulous family weekend spent in the converted pub. Our second visit. Its been revamped since we last stayed. Downstairs was great, Really well stocked kitchen. Comfy lounge, great bar area. Fantastic family area. Bedrooms, lack a little luxury. No full length mirror. No hooks for towels anywhere. Bathrooms tiny and unpleasant drain smell due to saniflow I suspect. However perfectly usable and great power shower if not compact in size! Loads of cobwebs and spiders in our room so the corners and windows in room and bathroom had definitely been missed. Bed super comfy and bedlinen lovely. There was only one side table by the bed even though room for two and our TV wouldn't work. We spent limited time in the room so it didn't matter. We would 100% return again.

Great private self catering pub ideal for big groups. We were 25. Nice location in the heart of the village and good for Peak District attractions. Strongly recommended.

This place is amazing!! I cannot recommend it more highly! I booked it for 31 of us to stay for my husbands surprise 40th birthday. We were the last to arrive so had no idea what we were walking into whilst all the other guests had arrived. I did wonder what we would find as this place is pretty much in the middle of nowhere but it was SO worth it. The venue was fantastic and is basically like having a lock in - your very own pub. Such a fantastic idea and really unique place to stay. Peak Venues website is brilliant with all the links on there for food and local pubs etc. We used a private chef one night and Scoff food which was delivered in the morning for that evening for the second night and did a tesco delivery for the rest. The venue is lovely and really nicely done - the lounge is lovely and spacious so we all watched the rugby on the saturday afternoon. The pub area is large enough that everyone can eat together. The cottages are beautiful and really recently refurbished by the look of it and are much nicer than the rooms in the actual house but they are all still really nicely done. As the cottages are set in a courtyard it doesn't feel like they are that set away from the property. The village is lovely and all the people staying in the house that visited the local shops commented on how friendly this little village is. Everyone who came for this weekend of fun could not say enough good things about this place...This is definitely 10/10... If you think it's a long way to go...I promise it will be worth the drive there!!

Brilliant place for large groups and celebrations, we had a group of around 34 staying in the main building and the 3 cottages for 3 nights. the management and organisation is supportive but unobtrusive the facilities are wide ranging and would meet the needs of most groups. Bedroom accommodation was ample and bathrooms smart and modern. On the night of our arrival we had pre-ordered fish and chips from across the road, they were lovely. A BBQ was arranged for the middle night and the C&H were able to suggest caterers who supplied a wonderful array of food which we were still finishing off the following day. The bar can be stocked with your requirements including hand pulled beer but they are equally happy for you to bring your own. I did consider leaving an average review in the hope that it doesn't get too booked up for our next stay - because I'm sure there will always be a next. Thank you Paul and 'crew'. X
