This park is one of the best spots in Schaumburg! There’s something here for everyone. The park is great for young kids, and the nature trails are unique and beautiful any time of year. You can explore different ecosystems, like prairies, forest, and wetland. There’s always lots of wildlife in the spring and summer (frogs, birds, deer, raccoons and much more!) This is also a great spot for birdwatching and photography. The nature center is educational and fun for children, the farm is well maintained. Don’t miss the peonies in the summer. And if it’s open, climbing the stairs up the tower by the nature center offers good views.

We've been coming here for years but haven't gone since covid and they really did an amazing job with the new renovations! Very clean! It's $2 for the play area if you are a resident and $3 if not. Definitely worth the visit especially when it's nice out.

A beautiful nature center with a room of things to look at inside and beautiful gardens and trails outdoors. We stumbled upon a monarch butterfly release which the kids loved. The bison nature playground was great! Good sections of both wet and dry areas for play.

This is such a picturesque and tranquil park to escape from buzzing highways all around. Trails are well maintained and marked really well. There is an amazing Bison Playground for kids, it’s not free though and fees are paid at the entrance kiosk (2 per person for a resident, 3 - for a non-resident). The open farm museum is definitely worth a visit. The cabin has a little waterfall next to it and a pond.

One of my absolute favorite places. The Lily pad pond is remarkable with beaver dams and plenty of shore birds to photograph. Small coyfish ponds River with raised wood walkways The trail takes you through a diverse set of nature settings. Get out there. Also go in the nature center on a day they are welcoming kids, you won't regret the love birds as well as craft activities

Best place to see the fall colors near Elk Grove! A gorgeous and spacious park with a few farm animals and a waterbody with ducks and geese. Perfect for a leisurely stroll during sunset.

We we're spending the day in Chicago and stumbled upon this wonderful park. It's like stepping back in time, with costumed volunteers recreating a farm in the late 1800's. So cool.

We love the place♥️ It’s just the perfect place where your kiddos can play around the nature. Tips: .Bring a change of clothes for your kids .If you want to walk between the farm and the playground you should know it’s a really long way .please wear comfy clothes, it’s always sad to see kids with jeans and new shoes or moms withs high heels or withe shoes, it’s a beautiful but dirty place 🙈😋 .you can bring your own food or snacks .parking it’s free .playground it’s $2 for kid (Schaumburg residents only)

Deserves more than five stars: such a fantastic park, nature center, and trail. Kudos to Village of schaumburg for maintaining the park. Tons of activities and learning opportunities for kids. Walking trail is so calm and serene it’s like doing a walking meditation. The natural play pockets are excellent for kids. The Volkening farm take you back to nineteenth century. Must visit and will repeat.

Great place to take kids. Great trails to walk in, too. Playground charges maybe $3 for non-residents, but, is awesome! Pix of baby turtle & if u wanna see it, it's inside in the room on the right in the far aquarium, so cute 😍

Visited Bison's Bluff on a Saturday afternoon with my 4yo son. We had a blast running around, trying all the playground has to offer... but his favorite was looking for and identifying animal tracks!

A gorgeous nature center/trail that I've been going to since I was a child. Amazing place to walk solo, with friends, as a couple, or with kids! It's my favorite area to enjoy nature in the suburbs and it just feels a lot safer & more personal than Busse Woods, for example. Enjoy the cabin & the farm, too! So many cool areas to explore.

Exploring the trails surrounding the Nature Center was a highlight of my visit. The trails wind through lush forests, picturesque meadows, and serene wetlands. I appreciated the well-marked paths and the variety of trail options, catering to different levels of fitness and interests. The Heritage Farm was another highlight of my visit. It provided a fascinating glimpse into Illinois’ agricultural history. I had the opportunity to explore the historic farmstead, complete with authentic buildings and artifacts. For the kids playground, the price for resident is $2, non-resident is $3

Spring Valley (and the Volkening Heritage Farm) is one of my two favorite places in Schaumburg. (The library is the other.) I love walking through the nature center in all seasons. I’ve seen deer that live wild there as well as the farm animals. This is a lovely nature escape in the middle of a busy suburb.

What a terrific farm, nature center, walks, trails and knowledgeable staff. We managed to get there for the monarch release! The kids loved it! (We did not pay to go to the playground today)

This is wonderful place to visit in summer for kids nd family. There are many activities for children like slide ,some water activity (keep extra pair of cloth for kids), climbing, some sound making instrument etc. You can spend 1-2 hr easily here. If you are single or bachelor then you might get bore but it's fun for kids, me n my family njoyed here. We saw 2 snake there they were roaming here n there.couldnt click it as they were too fast.

This was a fun place to check out and see some history. My 12 year old and 6 year old both enjoyed looking around and being able look around at different structures and tools from an earlier time. We also bought some little treats in the gift shop from local people. Fun stop and a nice nature walk.

Wonderful place. No bicycles, rollerblading or running so it is excellent for nature walks and family outings. Many interesting stops: farm, cabin, spring, arboretum. Through out the place there are strategically placed benches with back rest so you can sit down and watch birds and other animals, contemplate buty of nature or simply read a book. Only in partlined with asphalt trails most beautiful paths are woodchips lined and very comfy to walk on. Here and there you will find nature playgrounds for kids. There is also farm museum and garden to visit. You can buy fresh produce grown in attached garden.

We took a small trip up to the city to watch my youngest sister graduate with her BSN. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of places to take pictures, but looking in the area I found this place and I'm so glad we did. Such a great place to take pictures and if I ever come back to the area I would like to go hike the trails as well.

Great place to walk and enjoy nature, calm and with a lot of wildlife. The creek that passes makes you feel in the middle of nowhere!

Update June 2023- Spring Valley continues to be the go to place for our family when we want to get with nature and not get away too far. The ecosystem of plants, insects (monarch butterfly, honey bees), birds and animals is such a welcome change from urban living. The Bison bluff playground is amazing for little kids. What a lovely place this is in such close proximity of Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates.

I absolutely love this place. Theres so many frogs by the log cabin we brought our nets and caught one! ( Catch and release) . There's just so many beautiful trails that lead to something have it be a lake or a park

I was so happy to find this place while in town for a business meeting! Plenty of trails to wander along and kill an hour or two of time.

A quick walk into the nature is right in the neighborhood. This is a family friendly preserve and good for everyday walks. It took a few years to find time to take a walk into the woods (Bison’s bluff to heritage farm) my hesitant kids finally made it. Here are a few pics. Highly recommended for Schaumburg/ Hoffmann estate/Elk Grove residents.

We totally enjoyed our day out here. The nature walk was beautiful and our kids got to run around. Our time at bison bluff was wonderful too, reasonably priced at $3 per kid, I am so glad to have taken them there
