The Tree Tavern Restaurant in Wanaque is definitely one of those off the beaten path spots that delivers on its reputation. Their outdoor seating area is great, lots of tables, very good service and I nice ambiance. It's not to loud without being quite and boring. It's good for a romantic evening or for a group or family event. They have a great outside bar and some cool decor. Inside the dining room is large and well decorated. The food comes in very large portions, so make sure not to over order. It is well made, tastes fresh and as stated, comes out fast. Their wine menu is very large, with almost any kind of wine you can ever want. It's extremely affordable with most wine bottles costing $25 and a few at $30/$40. It's a great option for a bottle of wine and a cheese plate on a spring/summer/fall evening. I highly recommend the Tree Tavern Restaurant.

Went there for the second time and once again had a fabulous time. This place is literally a hidden gem. Food is great, I really enjoyed the sangria, and ambience was comfortable and elegant. We will definitely be back.

This was my first visit and I actually found it by using Google/Google Reviews trying to find a new place to enjoy a drink and a meal. Very cool spot tucked into a residential neighborhood. Until you actually pull into the parking lot you are truly wondering if you are in the right location. We arrived early for our reservation and enjoyed a wine and cheese plate at the bar.Very comfortable setting/atmosphere both in the bar and dining area. There is also a nice outdoor setting that would be a great spot to relax in while enjoying wine or a cocktail from the bar. I tried a braised short-rib filled ravioli from the nightly specials menu which wasn't overly big but was tasty and filling. I'd be curious to try a burger or one of the steak dishes on my next visit. The prices were VERY reasonable and the place became very crowded shortly after we arrived. (A real neighborhood gem I suspect). The staff was friendly and hard-working too, though maybe understaffed by a waitress due to the fact we found ourselves waiting a bit longer than normal on a busy Saturday night for our bar drinks. All in all a quality spot I'd like to try again!

Girls' night out for birthday wishes! This is a gem that is tucked away from the hustle & bustle of busy roads & life. If you haven't tried the famous tree tavern pizza ... Here is your chance to upgrade it with toppings. We choose ours plain as part of our appetizer. Also shared the most delicious stuffed artichoke that I've had in quite some time. ( sorry photo taken after we dived in) Moving on to our main course. Off the daily menu we choose Chicken Parmigiana, Meat Ravioli, Chicken Ceasar salad. The special of the week included shrimp, asparagus, arugula, and lots of yummy. We shared a tartufo that included a candle and a round of singing. Guaranteed not to disappoint. Don't forget they also have a fabulous wine selection and a wine & gift shop. Here are the chef specials for the week of 3/1/23 Stuffed artichoke An artichoke stuffed with Romano cheese, breadcrumbs, and herbs steamed with extra virgin olive oil. It's a bit messy to eat but delicious! $15 Salad Special Mesclun greens, tomatoes, red onion, black olives, cucumbers, and blue cheese crumbles with EVOO and wine vinegar topped with blackened chicken $30 Pasta Special Spaghetti with shrimp, chopped tomatoes, asparagus, and Arugula in a Saffron white wine sauce. $35 Seafood Special Red Snapper with anchovies, capers, and chopped tomatoes in a light marinara, served with mashed potatoes and veggies $40 Chicken Special ½ chicken with sausage, onions, red & green peppers, potatoes, and hot cherry peppers in a demi-glaze, served with veggies $35

Hidden gem! Beautiful outdoor space, amazing food and friendly service. Exceeded out expectations. The plan was to stop for a quick drink but ended up having 2 bottles of wine and dinner out in their backyard space. The owner Mark, stops by each table for a chat and it was a pleasure to meet him and listen to the story of this place. Apparently some negative neighbors are fighting against this place since its in a very residential area but it is not a rowdy place. It is quiet, peaceful and definitely worth to go and have a drink or an amazing dinner! I will definitely be back.

Outdoor dinging at its best!! You just have to find it first. Very serene. The food was excellent. The T Bone was perfect. But I could honestly just eat the sliders and be very content.

Not a good night here tonight. Over 2hours waiting for dinner. For the first time in my life I added salt and pepper. No flavor

Hosted a huge party there recently. The food was amazing - everyone complimented it all day - and the service was fantastic. Joyce was a server and honestly I thought she ran the place.

Been here twice now and both times I have loved it! Delicious seasonal cocktails and yummy food. The chicken parm sandwich comes on delicious rosemary bread and the pasta is good too. This restaurant is a hidden gem in the area.

My great grandfather took my grandma and grandpa to the one in Paterson in the 50s. This is the only known location I found when I travelled through town on my genealogy road trip. Let me tell you, the pizza was phenomenal! I don’t know what kind of crack you put in the sauce but it was delicious! We didn’t eat on site but it was an elegant establishment but the outside doesn’t do justice to the inside. Very posh looking! It was jam packed around dinner time- I can taste why!!!

Great food, friendly staff, and nice atmosphere indoors and outdoors. Definitely a hidden gem!

Pizza is pretty bad and that’s even by NJ standards. Menu otherwise not vegetarian friendly at all. Priced on the high side across the board and also a 4% hit unless you have a pile of cash. Naaaah. Many better local places to go.

Party of 10. We dined outdoors, with a great atmosphere. Food was amazing. Alex, our waitress, was the best. Tucked away, little hard to find, but worth it.

Knew about this lil hidden gem for years but never tried until now. Do yourself a favor, don’t wait. The food is out of this world. They have a great following so make reservations. Or there is also a very appealing flat top bar to dine at. Go and enjoy

Great hidden gem! Emphasis on hidden. The front looks like a house and in the backyard is an extension that also looks like a house but hides the tavern. Has great inside and outside seating! The owners and staff were great!

Bad food, worse service. How this place is rated so highly is nuts. Go get a frozen pizza from the grocery store, it will be just as good and take 1/10 the time. To be clear, it took our party of 3 nearly 3hrs to get in and out, with almost 90 minutes of that between our appetizers and entree. Over an hour without even a server asking if we needed anything, on a slow night.

First time here, had a wonderful meal, this place is a hidden gem! My girlfriend commented the red sangria is probably the best she’s ever had! Delicious food served in a quiet (residential) area, with a park like setting outside in the back. We had such a good time, can’t wait to go back!

Didn’t realize the legendary frozen pizza had a bar/restaurant that’s right on the route I’ve been riding my motorcycle for a decade! Great food, service, and one of the best wine selections I’ve ever seen! 🌲🍻🍕🍷

Traveling From Out of Town - What a wonderfully, beautiful environment to sit down and have an array of great tasting options. The duck and French onion burger were both delish and brought out timely even with a full house! Our server Isabell was extremely accommodating, nice to talk to, and didn’t skip a beat. Would recommend if you are looking for a tucked away place that offers great options at a great price. The only things bad I can say is the sound from others carry’s a lot. It does get loud quickly but was no bother. And the macrons were good, but nothing special! Overall 10/10 Great Environment.

The reservation process for this place was extremely smooth-- I was able to make one quickly and easily via email. However, when I arrived (admittedly 5 minutes late for my reservation), a waitress or hostess anxiously asked me if we had a reservation while I was still 15 feet away in the parking lot. When I said that I did, she made sure to "remind" me (though I hadn't been informed of this before) that seatings were only for a 90-minute window, which made me feel rushed and a bit unwelcome. I assured her that I can eat quickly (since I generally can be in and out within an hour), to which she looked impatient and asked if she could at least show me where my table was now (mind you, I'm still 15 feet away in the parking lot waiting for my friend to lock her car). When I came around the hedge, I expected the restaurant to be full and busy (timed seatings and being upset when you're late make more sense when the restaurant is slammed). Instead, I see that there are more empty tables than filled, which leaves me confused as to why she was so impatient. The waitress who took our drink order was absolutely pleasant, accommodating my request for a mocktail. The food was okay, though not my favorite. The calamari was crispy and the sauce was appropriately spicy; however, the steak sandwich that I got was a bit lackluster (though admittedly it was exactly as described with no additions). Instead of being a grilled steak which was then sliced, it was sliced then grilled, which caused each piece to be fairly well done. The steak was between two slices of ciabatta bread with butter on the side, but no lettuce, tomato, onion, or any sort of toppings. Just seemed strange to just have straight steak on just straight bread, but maybe that's my fault to have expected more. Between conversation and the speed of service (which was perfectly fine), we did end up staying for the full 90 minutes. I did notice that there were empty tables available the whole time. When the waitress asked if we wanted dessert, I admittedly did not feel comfortable staying past the 90 minute mark. We ended up leaving and going down the street for dessert and to finish our conversation. On a final note, the grounds are absolutely beautiful. It was a gorgeous location to have a meal on a nice day.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Fair value for the quality. Wine selection is top notch and prices are fair as well. Small location so I'd suggest reservations. Also, their chicken francaise is the best I've had. Highly suggested.

Not impressed at all. Made a reservation for 7 adults and 2 kids. The minute we walked in I was told they were very busy and we had to be out in 2 hours. This was never said to me when I made the reservation. We were there for my husband’s birthday and they knew that. We ordered appetizers and then waited for them to take our order. All the while I worried we wouldn’t have enough time. The food was good. When we were done the waitress asked if we wanted dessert. I said yes and she said well it is 5:29. We were told we had to be out by 6:00. This was very unprofessional and very disappointing. We ate our desserts. They kept looking to see if we were leaving. We stood up and my daughter in law took the baby out of her high chair. She no sooner lifted her up and they pulled away the high chair. Very disappointed in this place. We paid quite a bit of money and should have been treated better. Will absolutely NOT be going back again
