The interpretive Center is really good to help understand about the Ice Age and Glaciers as well as local and natural history. Several exhibits as well as small aquariums with live Turtles and snakes. Interactive exhibits good for kids and adults. Several miles of moderate difficulty hiking trails are attached. The road and parking lot is nice. In our experience this Wisconsin State Recreation Area is nicer and better developed than most others. It is not as developed as a full State Park and Lacs RV camping and has fewer hiking trails but is still better developed and many other Recreation areas we have visited.

Wonderful hiking from an easy short trail to all day hikes. Many skeeters and deer flys in the summer, but this is the woods. Fall color hikes are spectacular. Plus snow shoe hiking in the winter.

My friends and I enjoy hiking the Ice Age trail for the our health, the tranquil beauty is an added bonus. We're so lucky to have the Chippewa Moraine facility in our area, our grandchildren enjoy repeat trips too! :)

This place is great for kids. Very educational with a scavenger hunt for the kids to find and learn about different creatures in the area. The ranger was amazing with our daughter teaching her about the area. A must experience for families.

What a lovely spot and incredibly helpful staff members. I was actually there to utilize their trail system for running. Although I wandered into their center for trail info and the use of their restrooms, I did not have time to go through their exhibits. I can tell you that the trails are very well marked. That was a joy.

I went along as a helper on my grandson's field trip. The staff put together a very informative program for the kids. The last time I was here, was on my son's field trip, about 18 years ago. The same gentleman hosted the program for both trips! He kept the kids interested with his knowledge of bears, snakes, and other topics of nature. After the program I told him I looked forward to seeing him in another 15-18 years when my great grandchild would be on his field trip there! Great program, very interesting displays, well worth the drive to experience.

While sadly the Interpretive Center is closed on the inside, there is an absolutely GORGEOUS prairie field and benches and an open area to have a nice picnic. Not to mention the a bunch of hummingbird feeders (You'll almost always see some hummingbirds there). Finally, it is the trailhead of an amazing set of trails, including (surprise) the ice age trail, as well as shorter trails like the Mammoth Lake trail or Circle Trail. I'd check it out in either late fall or late spring as the summer can get buggy.

This place is great. They have multiple loops of trails and an interpretive center. The trails offer 1 mile, 3 and 10 mile options as well as a field walk. In the center there's explanations of the local geography and fauna. Little kids and older folks will have stuff to do and the trails offer great options for more mobile individuals. Can be buggy but that's to be expected.
