I tried this place today. I tried the fried chicken. It was decent for fried chicken. My only complaint is it was a little salty for my taste. Not bad overall. I really liked the hot sauce. Also got a piece of the 7up pound cake. Not as good as my Aunt Pearl's but nobody makes it like that. My uncle proposed to her because of that cake.

Catfish nuggets and a catfish sandwich is all I ever get and if u think you've had better then you have never been here go check them out!!

I order a 3 item special. Didn't even know about the fries that was a surprise. The chicken was seasoned and crisp. The fish was yummy. i haven't ate catfish in 10 years or more but i ain't mad cause it was good. The shrimp was ok also for fast food place. They give a bunch of sauces and 2 pieces of white bread. Also a small cup of slaw, that i didn't try yet. I work 5 minutes away so I'll return. I enjoyed my dinner sitting on the bed watching Master Chef. I have enough left for lunch and dinner tomorrow. Plus a piece of Carmel cake.

The food is amazing!! I had the steak burger and my husband got the catfish nuggets and the kids got chicken wings. We will definitely be back! The only thing is that tge Styrofoam containers melted a little bit from the heat of the food but the food was fine. I highly recommend this place and the workers were very nice and kind!

The catfish sandwich was delicious - though there was an overpowering taste of egg which is odd. It's hard to mess up catfish and I am a big fan so I'm not sure what when wrong there. As someone else pointed out all the food is served in Styrofoam containers which isn't bad in and of itself, but they would really benefit from having proper ones (i.e. with holes for the steam). The fries were incredibly bland and chewy, not fried enough. The order took a while to leave the kitchen though it looked like they had a lot of online orders to fulfill - still waited way too long. I will never knock "a hole in the wall" and will return another time but there is a lot to improve here - this place could be great and it seems like it has the history to back it up. The person who took our order was really nice and helpful.

First time, ordered 2 catfish strip meals, it was a lot of fish, at 6 or 7 strips, 6 piece chicken wings. The fish was decent but was missing something in the seasoning. The chicken wing definitely need more seasoning, we ordered plain. Not a fan of the fries, coleslaw was ok.

The catfish strips were awesome! I haven't had catfish in MN so that's saying something too. The hot sauce was yummy, not a fan of the cole slaw but I think it's because it sat for a bit in the hot styrofoam container. I will definitely be going back and make sure to order ahead of time.

So I decided to try this restaurant out, because I wanted to support something more local. I ordered the cheese curds and catfish nuggets to be delivered via DoorDash. After I received my food, I noticed that I received cheese STICKS and the catfish nuggets. Thinking they had messed up, I looked at the receipt and noticed it said cheese sticks, too. Thinking that maybe I had pressed the wrong button, I checked the app: it turns out that they were out of cheese curds and substituted them for cheese sticks instead (note that you can mark that in the app on the business end, so the guest doesn't accidentally order an item you're out of). Okay, that's fine, sometimes you run out of stuff and it doesn't get marked; my issue is that I never received a call or message? I didn't want cheese sticks; I didn't like their cheese sticks. If they had called me, I would have requested hush puppies or a refund instead. Clearly they know how to use DoorDash on their end, because they did a substitution through their app. If you're out of something, then you should call the customer; you don't just give them what you want to give them. As expected, the cheese sticks sucked (and that's not because of the bad experience; they just weren't good; they remind me of the frozen ones you buy in bulk and bake in the oven), but the catfish nuggets were pretty good.

They have an extensive menu with economical prices for anyone's budget. The food is good and fresh cooked to order. Love the fried chicken and fish combo plate.

Excellent customer service. Reasonable amount of food/prices. Crust on fish was a little too hard. I'm going to try again though to make sure it wasn't just a one time thing with the crust because there was excellent customer service.

I haven't had A & J for awhile. Now I know why. My food was horribly made. My chicken and fish was cooked in old oil and extremely oily. My chicken gyro was was gristly and not seasoned. It's was so disappointing that I spent a lot of $$$ on food that wasn't worth it at all. Especially since I use to be a reg customer when I lived in the community. So I missed something that wasn't up to their old standard quality. Grade F

Simple awesome. Everything is served perfect hot and this is unbelievable. After a long wait I found a place which serves everything hot and fresh. I ordered wings and fish combo and it was yum. I am definitely going to visit again. Staff is very friendly and prompt. Loved the service too.

I loved the sign about Black On Black Love just as much as the lightly salted fried okra.

A&J Fish and Chicken is a Minneapolis staple. Great food good service. Atmosphere is friendly and the patrons are from all age, nation and spiritual representation. I highly recommend this place. Prices are moderate and the quality and amount of the is generous. Blessed establishment and staff.

Love this place they have a huge menu great for the whole family decently priced even the kids meals are cheap and plentiful they always have a special going on and if you're looking for just breaded fried chicken wings catfish gyros burgers everything is serve hot and fresh

I was verbally threatened here and harassed because I was white they made some pretty specific comments to me-with someone who appeared to be friends with the staff. No one said anything I didn’t like the flavor of my friend chicken. Bread was not good either it was a waste of money. Ild rather go to hooks down the street.

I order food from A&J often. It's a good place. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I have gotten sick a few times from the food I got there. The last time I got sick when I ordered from there.

I'm no longer ordering from this restaurant, they made a mistake on their behalf and because of it I'm no longer allowed delivery service to my address, worst customer service

They cheated me out of part of my order and when I called them to say something about it they lied and said what I got was what I paid for. If you eat here make sure you get a receipt.
