The facility is limited, particularly it's walking Track, and seems to be overly busy. Upon joining, I was disappointed as a veteran that I received conflicting information about my membership rate. It was an unpleasant surprise when officially signing up. The person (Alex) completing the membership was Unapologetic, and that bothered me because of the this information and the cost being higher than I'd anticipated. These organizations make lots of money on memberships and donations, and sometimes lose sight of their responsibility and accountability to the public. Upon cancelation, prior to the end of the FREE promotion, was charged $60 anyway, with no explanation or prior disclosure. Alex got confrontational, and is Dishonest, which does not reflect well on the YMCA..an organization that started as a Christian organization.

TL;DR: I was billed/bilked for 3 months of membership ($112) after cancelling over the phone. Attempting to get a refund was simply ignored by Membership Manager named Brandon. Here's my story: February 26th '22 i call in to cancel my membership. I give the employee over the phone some information, and they say I'm all set. Fast forward to May, i notice that I've been billed the past 3 months for a YMCA membership. Call in to the Y and no one picks up. Leave a message, no response for 2 weeks. Call again, May 25th '22, talk to an employee and explain my situation. "Unfortunately since there is no record of this on our end, I'm going to transfer you to Membership Manager Brandon". Immediately go to Brandon's voicemail, leave a message and have yet to get a response. Seems like they're just trying to ignore me until I stop bothering them. I will call again tomorrow, May 29th, and try again.

My husband went to the Midway Y to swim. It was the first time he had used his member card. I looked online and told him it said he did not need a reservation until January 4. But the lifeguard was rude to him and said he couldn’t swim. He told the person at the front desk, and she was not friendly either. We won’t go back there. We are stopping our membership. Unfortunate.

Your stuff will get stolen. Either your car will be broken into, stuff will get stolen out of your locker, or stuff will get stolen from common areas. Probably multiple times if you're a regular. Hours on the weekends suck for people who work or need morning/evening workouts and won't be expanded. Sales people are pushy. Front desk folks and janitorial staff are always friendly and helpful if they can be. The facility is usually clean.

I always bring a guest and every single time me and my guest get absolutely horrible customer service. I don’t get greeted nicely or at all . I get a straight face that makes my guest and me as a member feel uncomfortable. I don’t get a “have a good workout” don’t get a good greeting nothing just a rude entrance and tone setting for the gym that makes me and my guest feel uncomfortable. Specifically it’s always the guy that was working today around 12-2 pm his customer service is absolutely horrible

I love the Midway YMCA! The staff and members are very friendly, the classes are great, and the facility is so beautiful with sunlight streaming in every morning. The Y is such a welcoming place where people of any age, class, race or background can have a great time and find encouragement along the way for their health and fitness journey. I am grateful for all that the staff do to make the Y a great place to start each day!

Diverse population; Good equipment; I like the walking track overlooking the pool. Locker rooms are adequate. Pool and vortex is great. There aren’t very many staff available to show you how to work the machines. That would be my only complaint. We use this Y as our main facility and Shoreview when we have our nephews, so we can use the outdoor pool.

Spotlessly clean facility, new equipment. Very good and consistent communication all through the pandemic. Staff is exceptionally friendly, we always feel very welcome :) Very good reservation system for racquetball courts and pool. Very affordable swim lessons for kids.

I had the blessing to get a YMCA membership and I this is my "home" YMCA (even though my home area is Duluth and I only am in Saint Paul during the week days)! I have to give a shout-out to YMCA workers Brandon and Eli.. when I was renewing my membership, Brandon was handling five different customer needs and my need and was training Eli and Eli had the confidence to take on working with me which I was a hard case as far as membership renewal goes. I was very impressed and still am and I just wanted to make sure that they got the recognition for their hard work!! this YMCA is my favorite out of all the YMCA as I visited so far. thank you Brandon and thank you Eli and thank you to the Midway YMCA for all of your help and beautiful facility!!

A very nice facility to exercise and get in shape. There are a variety of weight machines to work out with, there is a walking track, 17 times around equals one mile. There also is an Olympic style swimming pool. The men's locker room is huge, equipped with shower heads with high pressure. I joined because this Saint Paul YMCA is centrally located in the building is brand new and everything is so nice.

If I could give it less than the one star I am never coming back here staff can't even be bothered to check and see if actual people signed in even though I literally signed in and the guy's face I was still told embarrassingly that I didn't in front of a whole bunch of people if you don't know who's in the building that is not my problem I don't work at the y never have and never will they need to change or revamp their sign in policy because my situation shouldn't happen to someone else but it most likely will therefore I will never be coming back to the why I've been coming to since I was 17 and I am now 40

i love this location. a kind staff, clean locker rooms, usually busy, but never too overcrowded. parking is an issue at peak hours. take the light rail if you're able to, otherwise plan to park approx 1 block's walk from the door. great pool for kids and child care included with membership. expect an inclusive atmosphere, a good place for achieving diverse fitness goals from any starting point. highly recommended.

The cleaning staff goes above and beyond. The locker room is always clean, showers included. The staff also come up to the gym area and clean all the equipment, too. The exercise equipment is in good shape and if something breaks you just let the team know and they seem to have it fixed quickly. Alex will give you a full tour and explain all the membership benefits and answer all your questions. Front desk staff are super friendly and helpful too. Personal trainer Kevin is great and customized a plan specific to my goals.

DISCRIMINATION AGAINST TRANGENDER PERSON Yes hi my name is LaMarquita leach. I am writing this on behalf of my transgender friend Jayapollo Simmons. Yesterday January 23rd 2024 me and my friend had been doordashing all day in the cold and had decided we wanted to go hit the hot tub. So I said there’s no better place then the ymca to do that. However I wouldn’t be saying this after the incident that was about to take place. Upon entering the YMCA on midway in St. Paul mn I noticed a very colorful sticker that said Pride. Now I haven’t always had the best experience with the YMCA being I was just illegally fired this past summer. So me seeing this I thought hey maybe this one could be different. We head to the front desk and at this point I’m real excited to get going because I’m so amped to play basketball. My depression and anxiety has finally been stable I’m feeling like this is going to be great. Both of us get checked in at the desk then proceed to go to the locker room. I get my clothes and get dressed. Then my friend starts to get there clothes to go get changed. Upon doing that there is a cleaner whom at this point is hard core staring at my friends. They get ready to go to the bathroom and the same lady who had been staring stands in my friends path.

The place is brand new and has excellent equipment and amenities. The staff are friendly though not always the most helpful. I'm a brand new member, only recently joining about a month ago. I registered and paid online and on my first visit I checked in and asked if I could get a tour or if they had a handbook or ANYTHING that could help me get acquainted with the place and know the rules, regulations, different programs, and they just said everything is online. Which was somewhat helpful but just a quick walkthrough would have been nice. Today I'm not very happy because I saw last week when I looked online that they were going to be closing temporarily for the shut down. Then today when i checked I was surprised and happy to see that they were open! So I rearranged my whole schedule to come workout this evening only to find they are still closed and will be the entirety of the shutdown! I'm not sure if this was Google's fault for posting that they were open or the staff's but it ruined my night and there a plenty of things I could have been doing besides wasting my time! And even more now writing this scathing review!! I'm mostly kidding there, I think I just needed to vent a little. The place has otherwise been great, aside from those 2 minor inconveniences and I look forward to the day when they really are back open!

Really terrific Yoga teachers. They remind us that "this is your class" and offer modifications. Not judgemental or competitive. Clean, beautiful facilities and great staff! There is something for everyone here. The Y does a lot for the community!

Went to get a tour and join after moving close to the location. Staff was aggressive, rude, and made me feel as though I was inconveniencing them. Horrible customer service. Will not be joining.

Nice location and facilities. But I disliked how much I was rushed into getting a full price membership, and the requirements to come in person to sort out being on SNAP/EBT to get the sliding scale costs was way too much hassle when I specified i was physically disabled. The promo I signed up with charged me $50 usd, and barely into March before I could cancel after being too sick and disabled to travel out there, I then have a new $70 balance to deal with as a low income resident of st. Paul. Pretty negative experience, so I'll be looking got cheaper alternatives for exercise until I can afford to come back here.

Terrific breadth of services and physical/athletic outlets , friendly competent staff, at least one terrific trainer (only one I have worked with :-), enjoy the sauna/whirlpool reward for a hard workout, good central cities location. I also like that my membership supports the broader YMCA mission, especially with youth, as well

😠 I have visited many YMCA’s. But when it comes to Saint Paul they really don’t have any good ones. I visited Y’s in downtown, east side and west side.
