Cons - It’s super busy between 16:00 - 20:30ish. - Generally you can expect to wait in line (8 to 15 minutes if you are not in front of the line) for a squat rack (there’s 3), or a bench press (there’s 2) or any of the equipment really. - The weightlifting area is pretty small in comparison to Tableview, Parklands, Tygervalley, or Cape Gate. - There is a small studio that’s always packed because they have a good deal of classes during peak hours. Pros: - It’s a gym - They have equipment - It’s a gym I’ve been a member for just over a year and I have probably been on the look out for something better since I joined.

Club V is great, classes are great, great facilities, friendly staff and secure parking. The only thing with the parking is that I would have liked if there was parking for parents with babies like at a few other gym's parking lots. The spaces between cars are quite tight so it's very difficult to get a car seat out or even just open the door to get the baby out especially when there are big cars.

A nice gym with pleasant staff. Full array of equipment although sometimes specific equipment will be faulty and unavailable. Operates during load shedding.

Decent size gym with very friendly staff. Aircon seems to be off more than it’s on. (I don’t mind the heat while I gym, but some people may prefer having aircon on.) There seems to always be broken equipment which isn’t ideal, leg extension machine has been broken more than it’s worked over the last few months. Other than that the gym is great. (Maybe just just get a generator, I’m sure the gym can afford one).

No electricity/ generator for machines during loadshedding. The wifi is the worst!!! I have to use my data when I want to do my workouts from a fitness app. This gym needs to seriously attend to these matters. Wifi is not a big problem to sort out, come on guys!!!

In a country where three things are inevitable, Death, Tax and Loadshedding. I would have thought that one of the highest rate charging fitness brands in the country would have put together some of our fees and supplied one of their Flagship Gyms a generator. This isn't just Century City but rather majority of Virgin Active gyms. If not a generator, even just charging backup lights to full, providing gym goers with some extra time before you "kindly" ask them to leave the premises that they pay to use the services of. I'm sure this wouldn't contribute towards profits however as less use, means less maintaining of equipment, means more money. This is not a review of the staff who continue to be great but rather a review of an international brand that chooses to ignore its local market. Kindest Regards.

Love the space, it offers all, from a swimming pool, sauna, training equipment, studios and the location is too superb. The gym is close to restaurants, canal walk shopping centre, hotels, spas etc. So easy to do all in a day after my workouts as everything is nearby.

Love the fast, safe-city corporate vibe and the special welcome you get on arrival. Plus the free Peanut butter 🍹 smoothie, simply for going to 🏋️‍♀️ gym! Lol 😆 Bravo Virgin Active 👏🏻

If you are ok with aggressive and disrespectful roid monsters and other people with boundary issues then this is the place for you! Get disrespected, and as in my case, robbed, while the staff look on and clearly couldnt care less. Superfical and unprofessional. I felt unsafe and ended my membership as a consequence. Take your business elsewhere.

Not the largest gym so there tends to be a struggle to get the machines you want but otherwise it's nicely set out and there's plenty of cardio equipment. The showers also need some work as a few of the doors are broken and there can often be quite a strong sewage smell eminating from them. Overall not a bad experience but the lack of machinery is felt early in the morning during the gym rush.

State of equipment, while gym with 2 kg kettlebell, aircon out of order half the time in summer in the midst of a heat wave. Other gyms like N1 have backup fans. They should consider getting gym mats that are easy to wipe. Staff is pleasant though …

Parking is crazy, if you are a gym fanatic like me, you will pay daily because they only subsidize an hour or two. You can't do an hour workout and take a shower without thinking of the parking bill 😒. So please budget for parking before you sign up.

One of the best gyms in the city, spacious and well maintained with a wide variety of equipment / machines. Multiple seperate rooms for classes and a yoga studio. Busy but not too choked, especially if you train in the mornings (after work gets a bit crowded as expected). Friendly and helpful staff, many classes and alternative workout sessions offered too.

I have been training in this room for 4 months today new people a manager and a very unpleasant employee have decided to harass me throughout my session because I wear socks and crocs close every day in this room I believe people training barefoot without anyone ever coming to ask them to put on closed shoes it's two employees treats customers with deferred fr without any equality!! The days when I see all the customers with closed shoes I will also put no reason that this only applies to me!!!! Another thing the material is not maintained it's been 3 months that we can not perform kick back because the material is not there !!!!!!

Bathrooms are clean, has a steam room and sauna Free weights are very modern They have all the equipment and machines you can think of. Plenty of squat racks, smith machines and benches. This gym is just unbearably hot inside. Would crack up an instant sweat compared to other gyms that’s why the review is 4/5 And a bonus is the music is never too loud thank goodness

This is a very nice gym. Staff and trainers are super helpful and supportive. My only complaints is that the shower's water pressure is always low. I have requested for this to be attended too but the shower pressure is still low as I want to have a 'lekker' shower after a intense workout.

Been a member here for 3+ years now and the service here has been in steady decline. It's a shame since I've loved this gym. Issues experienced often: - Swipe in access constantly broken (say goodbye to your rewards if you don't want to stand in a line to fill out a book) - Equipment is frequently out of order. - Overcrowding to levels that are unsafe.

I love this gym. The staff are very friendly, including the ladies at Kauai. However, for some reason the sauna is always off lately. They started switching it off 15 min before, but it got to a point when it was off one day 3 or 4 hours before closure. The sauna should be on until the gym closes.

Although they have all the rediculous mask face covering for protecting people from a virus it appears it's OK to blow your nose and clear your throat and spit in the pool. Absolutely no pool management. Children playing in lanes while those who want to train struggle to find lanes. Poorly managed.

  • 4/5 Nasen G. 2 years ago on Google
Nice and spacious gym, hardly ever need to wait for equipment. Rated only 4 because I feel equipment and facility can be updated i.e more Smith machines, glute bridges, UV light in sauna.

  • 2/5 Tlhogi D. 2 years ago on Google
Something needs to be done about the quality of group exercise classes at this gym. Other than some of the pilates and yoga, they are atrocious! Members basically default to GRID; most those classes are taken by inexperienced Fitness Instructors who have no idea how to format a class properly. I usually end up doing my own thing at off-peak times using Youtube Videos for better quality instruction. Also most of the equipment (rings, gliders, mats) is very old, tattered or broken. Hardly seems worth the premium. The layout of the gym is great and staff is friendly enough.

  • 2/5 Michael V. 1 year ago on Google
Please note that if you want to sign up at this gym, they are closed between 6 am and 8 am if there is loadshedding. You cannot gym between these hours and if you are inside they will ask you to leave the building. Very difficult for people who can only gym before work. It is disheartening because inverters are not that expensive, so they can easily afford to keep the lights on.

  • 4/5 Sid P. 1 year ago on Google
Staff are great. If any thought has gone into purchasing the equipment, someone wasn’t thinking (80% of upstairs equip is not used). But then I’ve never seen a time and motion study. To compound the problem, people ‘book’ machines - I.E. they work on 2-3 machines - leave a water bottle, towel or even cellphone on the machines. Soooo frustrating (especially when it’s done with a personal trainer). And then there’s those who sit on the machine reading their phone. But once again - superb staff.

Table Bay can go sleep. Got nothing on Century City. Awesome modern parking facility, friendly staff, great change room with big seating when you want to change or pack your stuff, enclosed cubicle showers feels like it's private. Awesome open plan gym floor with lots of space.

Really decent gym! Joined here in October and won’t look back. The gym is decent in size and clean. The only thing I don’t like is you get 1.5 hours free parking and they need a backup power solution. Otherwise state of the art facility!

  • 2/5 Rosaria O. 1 year ago on Google
I’m quite disappointed at these guys… after having issues to finally get my account registered (every time they had a problem and system being constantly offline) they keep on promising to give a gym bag when we join but never give the stupid bags! Then they say they’re out of stock but keep on advertising it again… lots of false advertisement and sales person is obviously uninterested (since he already closed the sales. Friends and family keep on having issues too. This is not even close to what it used to be last time I was a member. I should have joined Planet fitness instead. Big mistake I’ve made here 🥲

Excellent gym but not with the best barbells for bench presses, etc. I prefer the bigger grib barbell & not the thin one. Century City has the thin type of barbells. Not bad, but not everyone's style 😁

Half the equipment is faulty - either parts are broken and not getting replaced/repaired, or the equipment is fully broken down. Last 2 visits to this gym have been plagued with broken treadmills and steppers. Bathrooms are also mediocre compared to other clubs. Rather use another club that actually maintains their facilities. Also for such a big gym in such an upmarket area it’s shocking to see them resort to half arsed solutions when loadshedding kicks in. Not even the lighting is kosher. Staff are always friendly at the door and during a sales pitch but the niceties end there.

Swimming pools are always booked for Swimming lessons which leaves the unreserved sections too full for everyone to enjoy. The reserved spaces are often underutilized where you often see only one learner using more than 2 rows for an hour.

  • 4/5 Trudy-Jo D. 1 year ago on Google
Well laid out with a good-sized area dedicated to the kids club (Club-V). The club staff are friendly and made my little one feel comfortable. I definitely love the leisure pool for swimming with my little one. I do wish that there was a dedicated weight area for women (as at another company), but the floor area is spacious, and the gym is bright and fresh.

Century City VA is my regular gym and think it’s pretty good. I attend the Pilates, Zumba and Kick classes there which are the best part for me. I just really wish they’d get a generator because that place is a no-go when there’s loadshedding.

  • 1/5 Simeon B. 1 year ago on Google
This gym has more than enough equipment for running, cardio, etc. However, if you do weightlifting, prepare to wait quite a bit, because the gym is almost always busy. I would rather go to Ignite Fitness

  • 3/5 Romain A. 1 year ago on Google
Great because its opposite the marriot, the gym gets extremely full between 530-8am so they really do need extra capacity.

  • 1/5 Ash 6 months ago on Google
This gym never has properly functioning air conditioning. It’s always hot and humid inside. When you scan in it takes ages for your reward to load and very often the scanners don’t work at all which means no smoothies. Feels like they do it on purpose to prevent people from getting free smoothies

  • 3/5 Ebraheem S. 7 months ago on Google
The last time I went to this gym was about 15 years ago, not long after they opened, that time the gym was very dead and empty, and I only go to the gym for the vibe, otherwise it's better for me to train at home, on my recent visit on a Saturday morning, i didn't feel the Saturday morning gym community vibes like you would in Claremont or Constantia, perhaps gym culture has changed over the years but I wouldn't rush back to this gym on my Saturday morning, unless I am forced to, the equipment and all that is up to standard but really slight depressing feeling in the gym, I think it may be that this gym is mostly occupied by people who are not originally from Cape Town and it feels like everyone came to do and then leave.

Recently joined during Covid. The facility is spaced out well to allow social distance while still being able to fully workout without being concerned. I have felt nothing but safe since I joined, and tired!

I won’t lie, working out during Covid has made me extra cautious of cleanliness, especially at gym. I must say, this Virgin Active is by far one of the cleanest ones I’ve been to. It’s the first time since the gyms have reopened where I truly felt safe! The cleaning staff were nothing short of incredible. There is ample cleaning products and paper everywhere. On a non-Covid note, this gym has some of the best and well maintained equipment I’ve seen and used. I wish I lived closer so I could gym here more.

The only complaint I have about that gym is, that they seem not to be able to keep the Sauna at a constant temperature. One day it's only 70°F then it runs at 100°F. Would be nice if they can keep it at 85-90°F.
