My friends and I just came back from a four day trip to Banner Elk, NC and it was an amazing place! Apple Hill Farm was an absolute dream! The service, employees, scenery and atmosphere was amazing! Ms. Karen was our tour guide and she did a wonderful job; all the animals were nice and friendly and the views were gorgeous! It’s worth experiencing! I loved it here :)

If you’re on the fence about booking this tour, jump off and book it! This is a wonderful property and great people working there. The tour was wonderful. We walked around the property (I suggest not wearing your best shoes, as there were puddles/mud when we went; however much of the walk is on a gravel path). We got to see donkeys, alpaca, llama, pot-bellied pigs, a hive of 80,000 bees (yes! They sell their own honey in their gift shop!), guardian Great Pyrenees (you’ll learn what they do), sheep (there were babies!), horses, a cows (including the endangered Randall Lineback) and the sweetest pups. Brody walked with us for part of the tour (lab/basset mix who was wonderful). None of the animals on the farm are used for anything other than when the alpaca are shorn. They are loved members of the family and we loved this so much! The prices in the gift shop are also great, considering this is a local, family-owned business who have to pay to operate a farm. The honey is GREAT! Go book your tour - you won’t regret it!

We had the best time on our tour! My 2 year old loved seeing all of the animals, especially feeding the goats. Our tour guide was pleasant and very knowledgeable. The farm is also nestled among beautiful, spacious Appalachian hills, which made for an amazing view! This was a really nice family outdoor activity with the uniqueness of learning about a functioning alpaca fiber farm. Highly recommend a visit!

Our family had a fantastic time! Everything was well organized. We were directed to where to park and instructed to go to the check-in station. We were asked to wear name badges, which came in handy for our lovely tour guide, Karen. She gave us an introduction and laid out the ground rules. She was very friendly, patient (since there were three little ones on the tour), and very knowledgeable (she gave us the history of the farm, names of the animals, recent farm events, etc.). We saw tons of animals, including donkeys, llamas, and alpacas, and got to feed the Angora goats. We spent ample time with each group of animals, which included time for taking pictures. Once again, Karen did a great job during the tour, especially with letting us know what to look out for as we moved from one spot to another (such as electric fencing)—our time ended at their shop, where our family bought honey, alpaca gloves, and alpaca socks. We recommend you bring some cash or a card for a souvenir. Thank you, Apple Hill Farm! We loved our time there!

I visited the farm with my two teenage daughters and we had an amazing time. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable about the farm and all of the animals. Our favorite part was feeding a snack to the goats. But the alpacas are also very cute to watch as they were out sun bathing. This farm is a very special place and I’m grateful that they have chosen to share it with the public on these tours, you won’t be disappointed. My daughters are already asking to come back again. After the tour you can purchase items made right there on the farm from the goats and alpacas. We got mini alpacas to remember our trip and you can even buy little hats for them!

Our family enjoyed Apple Hill Farm. We did the Tots Tour. It was perfect for our 6 year old and 4 year old. They got to walk around and learn about the animals, feed the goats, and then enjoy the shop! Great addition to our trip to Blowing Rock!

what a lovely place. They alpacas are beautiful. if you're fortunate enough, you can get tickets for the first Saturday of June and participate in watching the alpacas get sheared. The farm also gives tours. They sell fresh eggs. The gift shop is wonderful. You can get a lot of things made from alpaca fur. This is one of my favorite places to go when I'm m in the area.

Had so much fun on a tour. Abigail did a great job of explaining about the alpacas and other animals on the farm. I got some alpacas socks and they feel great! I highly recommend checking this place out
