The Corner Cafe was amazing as always. The food had lots of flavor, and came out quick. The server was kind and helpful. The decorations were entertaining and fun.

i came here with my family today and the food was really gross , unseasoned , dry and gelatinous … like the roll didn’t taste right and they forgot peoples dinner rolls. my cousin got this steak and it looked like JELLY! i got a salad and they messed it up how do you mess up a salad 😭 the only thing good was the fries. and they also handed the food to people in a weird way idk

My mom and I stopped here on a whim just looking for something to eat for dinner that was close to our hotel. I’m so glad we stopped in! I ordered the chicken noodle soup (small) and my mom had a Ruben sandwich. Both looked absolutely amazing. My chicken noodle soup looked homemade. Our waitress was super nice and went the extra mile to look for a tshirt for me. This is a definite yes from me if you’re looking for some good food and some really cool pictures and displays.

Stopped as a family, pretty early morning on a weekend. Got a seat right away. Our server was very friendly, and food came very quickly. Larger portion sizes. Food was great, and the place smelled amazing from the cinnamon rolls! Happiness!

For good ole home-style cooking, Corner Cafe is the best. Fresh, made from scratch. I don't think you can go wrong ordering anything from here. And the staff and service are outstanding.

Like going to grandmas house after church on Sunday. They offer up some of the best comfort food around and the portions are generous. The chicken fried steak was very good. Our server was second to none. Attentive but not pushy and always friendly. Corner Cafe ... we will be back!

Corner cafe is one of our favorites, but not five stars with this visit. Service was excellent, water glasses were kept filled and short wait time for food even though the place was packed. Pot roast/potatoes were good but warm and not the usual hot meal. Hoping this was a fluke and will continue supporting this business. Prices are in-line with competing diners.

This place is comfort, love and yumminess all in one! We went on Father's day and so glad we did. Our server was so kind, food came out quickly and they had no sugar added desserts for my Dad! Huge plus! Highly recommend 👌🏽

Stopped in for a quick lunch. It wasn't busy and the service was extremely slow. The food was ok, not great not bad just mediocre. Everyone that works there is very nice. I know their breakfast is quite good, I guess this will just be a breakfast location.

Visited this restaurant while performing a wedding for a couple of my members in the ministry. The staff were great, friendly and the place was clean. We ate breakfast and it was delicious. I had the French Toast and I was very satisfied.

Great experience! Our server was fun and very helpful, especially when it came time to order, and i didn't know what to get! She made some recommendations, and i very much enjoyed the pot roast. Had a few bites of my husbands chicken fried steak too, yummy!

The best way I can describe this restaurant is if Cracker Barrel & Lambert's had a baby on steroids (minus the flying dinner rolls) it would be the Corner Cafe. My husband and I stopped here for the first time on a busy Saturday at lunchtime. The place was packed and their was a short wait if you wanted a table. We opted for a seat at the counter and ended up getting to watch quite a show. The amount and variety of food that constantly flew out of the kitchen was very impressive. The waitresses were absolute rockstars juggling the chaos like well choreographed dancers. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure our drinks were never empty. My husband had the biscuts & gravy, and I had the chicken noodles. Both were excellent. We got a cinnamon roll and pecan sticky bun to take back to our hotel room which were amazing as well. We enjoyed our lunch so much we went back later that same night for dinner. Chicken strips, homemade onion rings, and the "Half a Heffer" burger did not disappoint. We left with full bellies and plenty of leftovers. We will definitely be going back the next time we are in Independence.

We ordered by door dash so I'm not sure about the service or atmosphere but the food is another story. Everything was amazing! Excellent down home flavors, just enough left over to nibble on later and are looking forward to it!! 😋 We ordered the tenderloin dinner, Corner (patty) melt, okra, cabbage, French fries, sweet potato fries and a couple slices of pies. I can't say enough about the cabbage...tasted just like Grandma's! 🤤 Honestly the only thing that could be improved upon was the sweet potato fries were not cooked thoroughly but I just popped em the air fryer and they were good to go. Thank you for the great meal it really hit all the spots. Fyi: I never leave reviews..that's how good it was. 😉

We had a very good first experience but less stellar 2nd and 3rd experience. The food has been good each time, better the first time, and the service is always impeccable! Try the cinnamon roll!!

Excellent service today by Cole! He worked in the front, and escorted each lady in our group to the table. And if we got up, escorted back. It was refreshing to be treated with so much respect. I've never received that stellar service anywhere else. Amazing job, young man! You will go very far in your lifetime. And a hug for all of us on the way out. Such class and dignity!

Coffee was hot and fresh, service was good, but my food was chilly, scrambled eggs were crispy 🤢, and the prices have gone up. That wouldn't be such an issue but 3 people having a mediocre breakfast shouldn't cost 70 bucks before tip. Next time I'll just sit in line at The Big Biscuit.

Food was great with fast service. Everything was good not a long wait time at all. I had the catfish it looked amazing until I cut into it it was half raw. They apologized for the error gave me a new piece a little smaller but still very good and good flavor. They took my meal off the bill a very class act place and very much worth going to. Ill be back again fir sure I wish there was more places like this one..

Samantha aka Sam was beyond amazing. Hospitable, professional, accommodating. The list goes on and on. My kids had the cheapest kid meals this side of the Mississippi. Wife raved about her egg whites and how everything was prepared. Of course I chose the chicken fried steak, and to say delicious would be an insult to how magnificent this dish was. It was marvelous, phenomenal, impeccable. From being sat to being fed, this experience will go down as the bar of excellence in breakfast dining. So if you are reading this to decide if you should eat here, let's see if it checks all of your boxes. Great food..check. Great atmosphere..check. Great service (ask for Sam)...double check. So, why keep reading this, put the coordinates in, follow the directions to Corner Cafe, sit down at one of their lovely tables and get ready to write the exact same thing I just said within 30 minutes.

This review applies to the bakery. The pies are kind of hit or miss, ex., I picked up a coconut cream pie to take home, kept it cool on the way...they might as well have put it in a bowl. The pie, even after 4 hours of refrigeration, when tipped, was running over the edge of the bowl, topping and all! We have bought pies that where extremely good and well put together and others that were not completely done with doughy crust. I will say that the Bread Pudding we have purchased for special occasions has been the best ever, which is why the 4 stars for food. It is always somewhat chaotic at the Independence location. It seems the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I was there just this past Saturday; I followed an older couple in, them and myself went straight to the bakery, no other customers there at the time. There were 4 or 5 workers behind the bakery case, doing nothing except talking while we waited and no one ever asked if they could help. I stepped up to the counter since I had a pickup order and was waited on immediately. However, when I left the older couple was still standing at the case and no one had ever asked if they could help them...they did finally step over to the counter as I was leaving. I saw no excuse for this lack of service when there was a minimal number of customers... I have been in there on other occasions to pick up my pre-order when they are packed and twice my order was sold to other customers prior to my pick up time. The last time, while they were searching for a Coconut Cream Pie to go with the rest of my order, one of the workers asked the person behind us what they could get for him and he said a Coconut Cream Pie, someone hollered there was one left, at which time I had to speak up and say it was mine, since they couldn't find mine and words between myself and the other customer ensued. Someone then apologized and said they accidentally sold the pie that was with my order and apologized to the other customer also, as they were now out of the pie he requested. All of this, while there were at least 20 other customers crowding in to place or pick up an order.

Mid afternoon, my friend and I were sweet hungry. I drove us to Corner Cafe, I have loved their cobblers in the past. My friend got an awesome piece of Banana Sundae Pie. I ordered Blackberry Cobbler. My piece was very small(unlike my last visit), had no bottom crust on my plate, and was served cold. I did ask the server if they served it cold all the time and was told yes. I also ordered a Take Out order of Beans and Ham with Cornbread. The Cornbread was good. The Beans were not done(most were still hard), and the broth had absolutely no flavor at all, tasted like water. There were only 2 very small pieces of Ham in the bowl. This visit was a big fail, unlike many other times that were great!!!

I used to brag about how amazing this place was. Good portions, quality food, and great service. Things have changed, not drastically... but definitely changed. Less food for the same about, but that's common... but the fact that I ordered my daughter some fried chicken and they fried the feathers on the chicken 😐😐😐 like really? Where is the quality control? How did someone look at the chicken and fried feathers and still place it in a to go container? This is unacceptable. I know management can not review every meal before it leaves, but something needs to be done to ensure this is not a regular representation of this establishment.

Meal portion consistency varies. Had 9 family members there and several eating same meal. Portion sizes varied from plate to plate for the same food. One was missing an egg, with all of them varying in hash brown amounts. All paying the same price. I know this happens just please try to be more consistent. Very disappointed in the way the pies are "not sold". All the pies on display could not be bought but on specific days and some could not at all for they had to be ordered. If your traveling and see this wonderfully full display case of pies you are drawn to want to buy one.....but can't for you'd have to come back another day. Not a good business setup. If you want to sell pies, be setup to sell to daily customers when they are there. If you can't support that.....like now.....get out of the business of pretending to sell pies.

I was very disappointed in the food I picked up last night around 5pm. I ordered the Chicken Noodle dinner. There was maybe a teaspoon of chicken in the dish. And I’m probably being generous saying that. The instant mashed potatoes were not good at all and the dressing was extremely dry. On the plus side the hot roll and the banana split pie were great but not $20+ great.

👍👍 Was way too much fun!! 🤣 We hope to visit again when we go out to visit our family. This place was well kept. We felt that our children were safe while in this establishment. It is well priced for time frames allotted.
