Would give 4 stars if Smokehouse weren't so chintzy with their portions. I recently ordered a sandwich and subbed out fries for onion rings. The portion I got was a pitiful and half-*ssed 4 onion rings. Meanwhile my girlfriend's order had a ton of fries in it. Are onion rings that precious a commodity? Can you at least toss in 6-8? Really not a good look. Other than that the food was good. The 4 onion rings I did get were delicious. The beef sandwich was good. Slaw was really good. KC BBQ is world famous, so maybe next time don't be cheap with your portions, Smokehouse. EDIT - in response to the reply to my review, I most definitely will give you another chance! Your BBQ is really good.

First time eating at Smokehouse BBQ, awesome place...the décor is on the dimly lit, high end with wood tones and plenty of spectacular stained glass fixtures. This is not like any regular BBQ joint, this place is classy and the service was A+. The photos don't do these meals justice, the sandwich was a combo of ham/turkey and was a healthy portion although hidden under the bun. The burnt ends were absolutely delicious! We'll be coming back to Smokehouse as the atmosphere, service and meal were top notch! Shoutout to our server, Jillian...she did a fantastic job, friendly and a wonderful personality.

Great place to get BBQ. I'm impressed at the meal because the food isn't cold overseasoned or undercooked. The portions are worth the price! The sauces are ok as well. The service is top notch. Check out "RILEY" at the bar because she's OUTSTANDING AND SUPER FRIENDLY!

The pickle fries, sausage and beef burnt ends were all delicious. The ribs were okay, but needed a different option In barbecue sauce. We were given the original sauce and didn’t learn until we were leaving, that there were other options. But that potato salad is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and the hickory pit beans are good as well. I wouldn’t recommend the macaroni and cheese though. The service was great, our waitress Niki was wonderful!

Wonderful stop on our way home! Great food, service and near atmosphere. I loved sitting under a stained glass window. Beautiful!

Delicious. Just really delicious. Wanted to hit up a couple barbecue places in town and glad we stopped here. The food was excellent and so filling. The restaurant itself was very clean and the employees were very professional. We did have kids with us, and they had a kids menu which was a bonus as one of our kids does not like meat.

We stopped here for a late lunch and were so happy with everything. It was Easter Sunday and they were busy but we got right in and got waited on immediately. Dustin, our server was so amazing. He was friendly cheerful and attentive while being busy with other tables. Our drinks appetizer and food came out in a very timely manner. We ordered mushrooms for an appetizer and they were fresh and hot and delicious. I ordered the pork sandwich with pit beans and hubby ordered the combo with baby back and Brisket with cole slaw and fries. We were happy with everything. Also had Dustin bring us some hot BBQ sauce and it was superb. Great experience and will go back. Dustin was a wonderful server and truly a joy with working a holiday and being so busy.

A classy BBQ joint to bring a date, a lot of my clients and hang with the boys! Great menu options, both decadent and healthy. Great service!

5/11/23 Had chiefs special and shared it and was plenty enough for both. Never disappoints. 2/25/23 This is my 5th time here? I'd say iv never had issues. Today our server (sorry don't remember name) she was the best. Was kinda busy, drinks came out fast, food came out fast. Everything was fine. Sauce was good, food and sides was good. Got the chiefs choice for two and was perfect for $35 for lunch. We couldn't eat it all. Plenty of food. If recommend this place.

5.11.2023 We shared the chefs special. Couldn't even eat it all. We are never disappointed here. 2.25.2023 We have been here twice now. Both experiences were yum. The meat is tender and flavorful. The sauce is thick and has a bit of spice to it. Both good qualities in a sauce. Piggies everywhere. 🐷

I like the ambiance here, roomy and stained glass skylights in the ceiling. Lots of interesting artwork. The food was nice (ordered brisket burnt ends with a salad). The server was very pleasant but not experienced; she couldn’t explain the “one or two” option on the menu.

I would have given them 1 star if it weren’t for our waitress and our corn nuggets. Delanie was very nice and understood the issue. 2:14 on April 4th my mouth was exposed to dirty sin. The brisket looked like octopus legs, my sausage burnt ends were mushy, and the music was upbeat like a college bar. If you think this place is good I believe you regularly eat unseasoned- uncooked food. The icing on the cake was the table being broken. Nothing against anyones customer service.

Service was terrible and food was cold. Price for 5 was good. But the food needs to be warm-hot to enjoy your bill. Don’t recommend.

We had excellent baby back ribs. The coleslaw was very good. One baked potato was excellent. The french fries were good. A reasonable cost for a bottle of good wine. The grilled vegetables were the only disappointment, only a few (4-5) slices of squash with one slice of potato and a slice of tomato (I always thought potatoes and tomatoes were not vegetables). Our server was excellent and the setting was excellent. Overall, I would definitely go back.

Delicious food. "Crispy" burnt end sandwich very lean and flavorful. Beans are amazing. Very quick and friendly service. The best BBQ meal I've had in KC in quite a while.

We came to Missouri and Kansas City to have some wonderful ribs. We were not disappointed in fact we went to The smokehouse BBQ and were pleasantly surprised. I thought that because it seemed to be a large restaurant and not a small camping one that we would have a problem. That was not the case, the ribs are very meaty and soft and tender. The barbecue sauce which is housemaid was phenomenal. Perfect melt in your mouth and removed from the bone with a simple bite. we also had burnt ends combination of pork and beef that were just as well delicious but a different type of barbecue sauce. So if you find yourself in Independence Missouri. Hungry for ribs please check it out.

Ordered: Burn end platter with Beef and Sausage. To begin, the food tasted delicious. The meat was cooked and seasoned well, but the flavor was heavily carried by the sauce. The beef and sausage had not been blackened however, so it lacked the desired flavor that sets this dish apart from others. The portion was laughable. At $21 you expect enough to consider it a meal, especially when it includes 2 sides. The meat portioning was enough to fit on the bread slice with room to spare. This used to be a dish I could share with my spouse but now it barely feeds me. I would at least advise against this dish, though it used to be a favorite of mine.

First time here, and we only tried here because of the wait at Chillis. Fresh, hot food, and our server, Karen, was awesome. She told us it is a family-owned business and she has worked there 26 years. That tells you something about the integrity of the management, besides their excellent food. I would highly recommend this place, and we'll bypass Chillis next time!

Ordered for pick up. both "notes" I added to items were overlooked. Specified Gluten Free and salad was covered with croutons along with bread on top of wings. Wings were supposed to be Plain and they were smothered with bbq sauce. The food tastes good, but get the orders right please! Doubt we'll be back to this place.

Good food. Great service. Be sure to try the appetizers and burnt ends.

The "burnt ends" seemed to be nothing more than cubed beef. Food was wildly disappointing, took over 45 minutes after placing food order before it arrived. Considering how poor the food was the prices seemed inflated. The waitress was nice.

We normally love Smokehouse and we chose to order some burnt ends for the Super Bowl. The pork burnt ends were great as always but the beef were not edible and we didn’t find out until it was almost close because the game was starting so we didn’t even have time to go back and get them exchanged (not to mention there was a sign on the door that they weren’t taking more orders and were out of meat, understandably, so they most likely couldn’t replace them anyway.) I under stand they were probably super busy but we paid for half a pound of fat. Every single one was chewy and not able to be eaten though. Some you could tell a knife tried to cut them but they were so fatty even the knife didn’t go through because they were stuck together. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a super fatty burnt end from them but this was the first time it was the entire order. Stick with the pork burnt ends.

First time visiting this location. Staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. It wasn’t busy at all but our food was just lukewarm (fries, crispy sandwiches, burger, fries) Except for the corn nuggets & beans. They were hot, fresh and tasty.

The host was absolutely blah! I almost left because of him. I couldn’t hear him talk and he was as personable as a door stop. The manager was nice in our brief conversation. He actually brought out our appetizer. Our waitress was pleasant. Super quiet personality. She smiled frequently which was great. We had to request drink refills every time. The food was great though and she got it out quickly. I was very pleased with the baked beans and house salad. My grilled burger was flavorful and still a little pink inside which agrees with me but not to some. The restrooms smelled and looked clean. I would recommend they change out the door push plates which have lots of wear. The ceiling tiles are water damaged around vents. I have always liked the build design. It still looks good overall. It’s really good priced overall also. Prices are not that much off the 1990’s prices which is remarkable. This was a good visit in many ways. Food came fast which was also good. Be warned they add in gratuity automatically. Forcing it and not letting a customer decide what it appropriate is wrong. We were going to leave more but they preset the 18%. We gad to ask for a to go box.

21 years and counting having a drink at the little bar while ordering to-go with the boys on New Years Eve pretty much says mandatory five star review.

We were looking for a good BBQ meal around KC! These are 2 of the meals my party ate! The salmon was flaky and perfectly cooked! The portions are huge but justified for the $$. The chicken and burnt ends were also easy to tear apart and still juicy! Our waitress was super sweet, friendly and very helpful! Would go back for sure!
