Hereford House has consistently good food, good service and a nice atmosphere. I enjoy the happy hour at the bar with a small discount on food and drinks with quick service and a quiet location to talk or catch up with friends. The filet and chicken fried chicken are my favorites. Everything is cooked well and delicious.

This is a Kansas City icon and the dining experience at this location definitely lived up to the reputation. I'm appalled that Hereford House is not in the top 5 of steak house's in the US. It should be, and I would know I've dined at several. Exceptional service, outstanding food, nostalgic atmosphere.

Went to Hereford house last night. Party of nine ordered a wedge salad and they use bacon bits fake. It was gross. I also ordered a twin medallion. Well done it was red inside and not a good cut. Of meat! —our bill was almost $400. My daughter ordered a sandwich with bacon left the bacon off and they gave her fries instead of a potato my husband ordered a twin medallions and his was bright red inside. He ordered it well done. — my dogs r going to enjoy it!! He agreed meat is not good anymore. Beware quality is down.

An excellent steakhouse in every regard, from food to service to ambience. It is also quite busy, well worth getting reservations for supper if you’re going on a Saturday night as we did. We started off by ordering their cornbread for two, which came out along with two hot yeast rolls. All of the bready stuff was seriously good, and I say that as a bread snob. For our entrees, I ordered the set of bacon-wrapped 5-ounce filet portions, along with green beans and an upgraded side of mushrooms. Everything was delicious. My husband had the ribeye along with fries and broccoli, and greatly enjoyed his food, too. We had to splurge on dessert as well, getting a KC Irish Cream Coffee and a bread pudding with flambé. The hot spiked coffee was tasty and potent, but the bread pudding was truly a sensation. Our server lit it on fire right at our table. The portion was large—definitely a dessert to share—and rich, with a thick custard top and bready bottom within a lush sugary sauce with islands of sliced peaches. I love bread puddings and this was up there among the best—people should come here for this dessert alone. Really an amazing restaurant, one that fully lives up to the ratings hype.

The filter mignon with blue cheese crust was delicious... My grandson's kid burger was huge and set at a great price which included ice cream and a topping. I enjoyed the blue cheese wedge but thought it could use a tad more bacon. There were just a few very small bacon pieces.. The sides need some improvement. I ordered the cheesey potatoes but they were cold and the scalloped potatoes were undercooked. I swapped them for broccoli but also cold and no seasoning. Fortunately, they come with the steak and are not an extra charge. Service was just ok. We waited too long to order and water was forgotten about but the server was nice. With some small improvements, it could be great. At least the steak was.

We had reservations so when we arrived we were seated within 5 minutes. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. Food came out in a very timely manner and was hot. The meat was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The potatoes were excellent as well as the corn and green beans. It is a little pricey but the quality makes up for all of it. Best steak house in my opinion.

Oh my YUM! We are staying in the area while finishing up a job. We decided to try the Hereford House, and it did not disappoint! Andy was our server, and he took very good care of us. We tried a little bit of everything on the menu. The Baked Oyster Rockefeller was soooo good! We also had the spinach and artichoke dip, the 1857 salad, and the apple pecan salad as starters. We had a variety of steaks... cowboy ribeye, 12 oz ribeye, New York strip, and the Oscar style sirloin. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the Oscar topping melted in my mouth! We finished with the very unique, and totally yummy, carrot cake. We look forward to going back, as there are several other menu options that I'd like to try.

The food was good. The service was great. The restaurant and employees were clean. The parking lot was clean and safe.

Fantastic food the green beans are so fresh they're almost like Farm to Table as is the broccoli the steak was perfect done just the way we wanted it and the drinks were really good the bartender was friendly very much 100% recommend worth the price

Best green beans anywhere!! I to get the salmon with extra garlic butter for dipping. We love to try calamari everywhere we go- great here but watch the peppers they give you with it. They are super hot! The bread and butter are amazing but we don’t always get not sure why?.?. But atmosphere and staff are friendly. We go here once a week to once every two weeks.

I went here for my 6Th year wedding anniversary to try the steak recommended by our friends and I gotta say the food was delicious

If you want somewhere that's a fancy date spot with reasonable pricing, this is the place. Staff was very polite, had 0 issues, food was amazing, the top sirloin was made to my liking and tasted great! Really suggest this if you want somewhere nice.

We really enjoyed our dining experience. The food was great, plenty of attentive waiters. I would recommend this place for a Thanksgiving meal for anyone. They also have the best carrot cake I have ever eaten.

Got there 15 mins before my reservation sit there for an hour still had no food yet. Only good thing was Ashly our server she was great. Would not recommend

Do not expect to book a room your call will not be returned. You are told to expect a call in 24-48 hours. When you call back they tell you the same thing and you inform them that it is past the 48 hours and they ask you to keep waiting. I always take friends and family and clients to Hereford House but no more. The food and service have always been superb but the service of scheduling needs to be looked at and possibly new personal or management.

We enjoyed our meal here. We went for lunch and had a good time. The restaurant was a bit dim which is weird to me. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive but forgot that we ordered an appetizer. She realized and gave us a free appetizer after our food had been delivered. We will definitely try again.

A great steak house with an incredible bone in ribeye. The menu is what you would expect from a better than chain style steak house. The service was worthy of 5 star dining. Andrew was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I will definitely be back.

The food was fantastic! We loved the mushroom appetizer. The steaks were mouth watering! The service was outstanding! I have been wanting to eat here for some time. This food was revolutionary. I was going back into my pit of depression and unknowingly as i but into my food my life made a complete 180. This food cured my depression. On a real note for food thats usually so so heavy at every other place i've ate this same food at this place made it feel very replenishing as well as filling. For once I could finish my plate. The workers here were also very polite. I'd recommend any one to go here.

This was a night to remember kind of dinner for our 25th wedding anniversary! The staff was amazing, never hurried or harried, always helpful to us and to each other. The timing of the courses was perfect. Slow, but not dragging. The food was fantastic. Will definitely return when we are in the area again!

We came here to celebrate my sister in laws birthday. The chef went out of his way to make us happy and even gave us a sampler of foods to try. Food was fresh and hot. The steaks ate a bit pricy but given the price of food now it's not a big surprise. Overall great experience

I just wanted to share that my family and I had an AWESOME TIME, at Hearford House on yesterday!!!😄 We celebrated MY MOMMA’S 78th Birthday!!!🥳 We were provided a private room and our waitress, Kaitlyn, was WONDERFUL!!🤗 She served our large family with such care and cheerfulness, truly making our experience ENJOYABLE!😊 Thank You Kaitlyn!!!😊 My MOMMA was over the moon HAPPY, she had STEAK and CARROT CAKE!!🤗

I always enjoy myself when eating here. The hostess greeted us right away, my daughter made reservations which was a good thing because of Fathers Day. Food was delicious and filling. Though at times I felt our waiter couldn't focus and even forgetting about us at times. Had to remind him 2 times for the desert menu, our drinks, and a bag to take home our leftovers

The staff there is excellent. They let me bring in a birthday cake for my husband and brought it out to us at the end of our dinner as a surprise. Our waitress made sure our food was exactly how we wanted it and took great care of us. The mashed potatoes are so delicious. The steaks were good and my husband loved the meatloaf. He said it was the best he ever had. Thank you Hereford House of Independence for a great night.

I have no idea how the food is. We stopped in 7:00 on a Tuesday night and NO ONE had a mask on. I felt like I was in a Twilight Zone episode. Life was going on as if Covid never existed 🤯 Jackson County’s Covid numbers are higher than ever, so I’m totally perplexed by the fact workers and patrons were all mask free. Not for me! Came back this month to give them another shot . We got the grilled meatloaf ( to go) and it was very dry. The gravy didn’t help
