A hospital who cares more about their nurses hair than about the nurses working conditions, is somewhere that does not value their patients. Policy changes regarding nurses should only be made by nurses. People working in administration do not have even the smallest idea of what nurses, and all healthcare staff go through on a daily basis for their patients. To the person who presented this policy change, I encourage you to spend 1 shift (12) hours shadowing a floor nurse. Shadow a floor nurse who is unsafely staffed in a critical care unit. Once you’ve completed that shift, successfully, making sure your white board is perfect, and all patients still alive, happy, guaranteeing high patient satisfaction scores, then you may have a small opinion on what a nurses hair looks like. To the people of this community please think twice before bringing your loved on here.

I heard that they now require your hair to not be in messy buns regardless of hair type. And they don’t care of healthcare staff retention bc apparently they think they have the staffing to be able to maintain day to day care even if all the healthcare workers leave over their hair policy of all things.

Demanding nurses “fix” their hair whilst in and out of isolation rooms, donning and doffing their PPE, while working short staffed and running in between patients rooms barely having a chance to use the bathroom themselves, shows how out of touch this administration is with what nurses do on a day to day basis. Also, why not focus on patient care and safe staffing?

Took my son in because we found he was diabetic, they gave him an insulin plan that didnt work out after a 5 day hospital stay. Then they told us he needed to go to the er whenever his sugar spiked over 300... after 3 er visits we finaly got into a specialist in omaha that simply said to give him another unit of insulin if it spikes.. simple sensible advice that anyone familiar with diabetes shouldve been able to give us. All they did whenever he was in the er was exactly that, a drip of insulin and monitoring. Iwe are new to this, it was scary for us. Missed all but 7 hours of work in two weeks, slept less than 3 hours a night. The "diabetic specialist" nurse that was supposedly there to teach us how to handle it was not only EXTREMELY condescending whenever i asked a question, but also gave us bad advice and incomplete instructions. After 5 days in a hospital bed they still couldnt give us a correct ratio for his insulin, his spikes were all over the place until a single visit to omaha gave us a correct plan. Its very VERY hard to believe this hospital wasnt screwing with us in order to increase hospital visits, putting my sons health at risk. Wed be financially ruined if not for insurance. Ive never personally had a flawless experience with anyone within the bryan health group, ive no doubt there are some amazing people employed there, but it is plainly evident that it is run as a profit furst, hospital administrator poisoned organization. It really sucks for lincoln that the only other option is st. E's.

I’m actually in this horrible hospital right now, as I speak. The nurses are very young and immature. I would strongly recommend NOT having any type of surgery at this hospital because of their major inconsistencies with their care especially with their extremely young and very inexperienced nursing staff. One says one thing and another says another. Some racism is an issue as well! I’m never coming back here again. 🚨BEWARE🚨is all I can say. To put it in perspective………. I WOULD MUCH RATHER BE IN JAIL.

Caring more about a nurse's hair than actually making sure that nurses have adequate staffing just shows what kind of organization this is. Avoid at all costs, because the odds are a nurse is being taken off the floor to discuss "proper hair" when they could be taking care of you. If this is what American Healthcare has come to, caring more about hair styles, than caring about staff and patients, we have major problems....

Went to the ER at 2am, said they would send in a prescription for my daughter, went in to pick it up to find that they never called it in and now won't because of a "gray area" in her chart. Now I have to wait for an opening with her pediatrician to get a prescription she should already have. Thanks ALOT Bryan East for your "excellent" patient care. The excellent advice from the ER rep when I called about them sending it in, was that they wouldn't, but if she doesn't get better before seeing the peditrition, to bring her back in! Is Bryan east comping the stay because they can't go their job right the first time?

Loved the OB nurses and doctors. Everything else has been horrible. From the moment I walked into the emergency room, the receptionist was clearly annoyed. When asked what was wrong and told them, they again seemed annoyed. Finally, when realizing something was wrong they were better. The billing department is very unprofessional and rude. Overall, I should’ve just went to a different hospital.

With the exception of a handful of wonderful staff, my sons current stay has been nothing short of horrific. This hospital is not equipped to deal with special needs patients. Legal guardians/ parents are the voices of patients that have none and his isn't being heard. He is still a patient currently but will not be by evening time. Someone higher than the hospitalist and nurse manager needs to reach out to me soon.

Some of the doctors and nurses have terrible bed side manners. When my mom was sick and “coded” a few nurses were standing at the door talking and joking while the doc was with her. I was shaking and breaking down. When she was in the ICU, one doctor specifically yelled at me saying he was too busy to speak to me about my mother’s condition. My family and I have began driving out of our way when necessary to St Elizabeth because of the treatment we received at this hospital. They made the already tragic death of my mother even more unbearable. I’m crying just typing this out. More compassion from the staff would’ve been helpful.

Drove myself here in the middle of the night because I woke up with a sudden shooting pain and unable to use my left arm and hand. I could move my pinky and ring fingers, but that was it. I was experiencing no such symptoms when I went to sleep. I was crying because the pain was excruciating; if I could have waited to see my GP, I would have. First, the security guard took longer than I thought necessary to search my nearly empty bag. I was checked in pretty quickly, however when Dr. Benson came in to see me, it was clear that she didn't believe me about my symptoms. I described having pain and numbness from the tip of my index finger down my arm and up to my neck. Overall, she appeared very apathetic. As I described the pain in my hand and wrist, she squeezed my hand as hard as she could while asking me a question. I know that she did this to gauge whether the distraction affected my perception of the pain or not, but it hurt so bad that I screamed and had to take some time to calm myself down. Dr. Benson didn't even apologize. She told me to take Tylenol and I never heard from her again. I didn't even get her name until I got the bill in the mail. The nurses were nice, but Angie from registration was texting on her phone with one hand and simultaneously confirming my information with the other lol. Super unprofessional. I immediately went to Elizabeth where I discovered I had a pinched cervical nerve. I received a single steroid shot and the pain began to dull immediately. Somehow, I spent less time at Elizabeth and actually received treatment. I was still so upset about Bryan's treatment of me, now I'm only more upset with their $1K plus bill for services that were never rendered and their insistent phone calls. As soon as I get the time, I plan to call and ask for a breakdown of the bill. There's no way it cost over $1,000 for a doctor to squeeze my hand until I'm screaming in pain only to send me home. For clarification, the bill from Elizabeth was around $300 and included a steroid shot and a brace to take the pressure off of the nerve. My experience with Bryan was the worst I've ever had in an ER. It was also the emptiest ER I've ever seen. I guess now I know why.

My grandma received care at Bryan last year and all the staff were great! The hospital was clean. Nurses, doctors, and respiratory therapist were all knowledgeable, patient, and informative in regards to her care. Keep up the good work!

I have Chronic Pancreatitis and am hospitalized quite frequently and I couldn’t not recommend a better hospital than Bryan East. Their ER is way better than any ER I’ve been in. They work fast to get me the relief I need and make me comfortable till I can be emitted. We also just had our baby delivered here and they have made the process amazingly smooth considering. Most of the nurses are amazing, if I had any problems the charge nurse handled it. Will definitely come back to this specific hospital if I am in need.

Was transfered here earlier this month from the Crete ER. I needed immediate surgery for a massive kidney stone. Over all everything went well. Surgery staff was nice and informative. Most of the nurses were SUPER NICE. Especially one pre op nurse who had been there for 14 years - so sweet! I ended up staying the night for observation. My daytime nurse, ROSIE, was awesome (I'm a needy patient, so sorry!) She was there everytime I needed her expt once when she wasn't immediately available (not her fault) she was easy with the IV (I have VERY sensitive veins) and was able to turn down the rate of the Vit (K?) That was absolutely causing me agony so that it was tolerable. Gave me heating pads and even ended up giving me a water one when it became apparent that I needed a more permanent solution to the temp ones they hand out. Didnt act like I was a nuisance when I needed pain meds or anything for that matter. Would 100% have her as a nurse again! Food wasn't bad either! There was one nurse who helped me when my normal nurse wasn't available and I was not fond of her - she pushed the med Into my IV to fast and it was immediately sensitive/painful and blew out the vein (thankfully I only saw her the one time and i was discharged later that day) and it's still hurting 3 weeks later 🙄. Some other nurses in the floor were very helpful as well when my husband stepped out to ask them questions. They were very nice to my husband and kept him informed. Room was nice, had a tiny TV but it worked great 👍 and was private. I really hope Rosie, and most the other nurses as well tbh, reads reviews as I want her to know how appreciative I am for her good bedside manner and accommodations ❤️ - you go girl.

The nurses are good. This is the 4th or 5th time I've been to the hospital and I don't get my regular meds. Why is this so hard. I received 2 calls to review my meds like a heart medication, an asthma medication, etc yet they are never given to me. The only reason gave 2 stars is the nurses. If it was the pharmacy they would get a negative number. Maybe they have shenanigans down there like they do on TV sitcoms with Nurse Jackie?

I am in liver failure and just had my gallbladder taken out. After post surgery pain I was was readmitted to have a nodule underneath drained. 2 days later went back as nodule was getting bigger again to which they labeled me a narcotic seeker and tried to prescribe me a medication to which I'm allergic to. If they would have even glanced at my chart before walking into my room they would have known that. This is the 2nd doctor from this facility a different visit however) that due to just assuming I'm seeking narcotics (which is the farthest thing from the truth) that just walked into my room offering me the same medication to which I'm allergic!)

Very disappointed in this hospital. Wife went in for a routine ultrasound. We ended up getting charged a ridiculous amount for this ultrasound. We've had many other more complicated requests completed that were significantly cheaper then this routine ultrasound. We received the bill in the mail and right away knew something was off. We called Bryan and the orignal doctor's office and they apparently decided to not follow the original order. They said they have to code it this certain way, we've not been able to get clear answers so far and said it was our fault even though we don't have any insight on how things should or were coded. When we called to ask questions they put all the blame on us. I'm not sure how we could be, we were sent there to just get a routine ultrasound. They were the ones who either coded it incorrectly or did more than they should of which we did not request and should not be liable for. It's either the insurance company or the hospital's fault. Instead they have been guilt tripping us stating we (the patient) are the one's who messed up.

Several entrances closed due to staffing issues. The one entrance that was open had no one working at the reception desk. I asked 4 separate employees where a particular room was located, and not a single one of them had a clue. I have never seen such cluelessness in my entire life. I hope their medical care is better than what I experienced today. Personally, I would NEVER get admitted to this hospital! They should really evaluate their hospital administration staff, and consider making some changes. Horrible experience.

The 2nd time in 2 years that I had the worst service and medical treatment at Bryan East emergency unit. They were rude, non attentive, and presumed since I was black with dreads I was looking for pain meds. I made it clear i had just had surgery, already have pain meds, and am experiencing a lot of blood in my urine/bowels. They left me sitting in the room for 2 hrs. Called the nurse twice, still nothing. They claimed they didn't recognize the surgeon, even though I showed them a picture from the surgical group/gave his name. They assumed I was lying, but they took the cotton ball out where the surgery had been performed, and it was covered in blood/bowel. They just stuck it back in. Then they said I shouldn't be using cortisone, even though my physician/surgeon said I could use and my physician of 20yrs had prescribed. They gave me lanocaine they said would work for 30 min. I told them I was gonna need to leave so I could stay on my surgeons pain regimen, or I would be in extensive pain all night. I didn't need pain meds, I had pain meds from surgery. I just wanted to know if this excessive amount of bloo was another issue that needed immediate attention. They sent someone to take my blood, that was it. When I got up and said, I need to go home to take my meds, all the nurses just said you can go if you want. I could barely walk, and they didn't offer a wheelchair, and just looked down like I was disturbing them. I will not take this lack of medical care lightly as I did 2 years ago with their ear/nose/throat doctor wasn't listening when I said I couldn't breathe, but he kept reaching down my throat. I have the utmost respect for doctors/nurses, most really care for their patients, but the ER at Bryan East needs someone to stand up and speak out!

My Dad was on the 5th floor, and everyone seemed to treat him very well and with respect. As a daughter who was coming up there not knowing what to expect, your kindness towards my Dad made me more at ease. Thank you for taking care of him!!!

Dr. Kenny did my scheduled c section and I felt well enough to go home two days later and a week later I'm getting around amazing with almost no pain. My incision sight actually looks better than it did after my 1st c section! It was an amazing experience during and after. Very pleased.

I had surgery that required an overnight stay. From start to finish, everyone was competent and kind. Surgery was successful and I know I’ll have drastically improved quality of life. Thank you all! The guy in admissions, Dr. Gibbens, and night nurse Hailey were my favs. Thank you! 😊
