Beautiful renovated lighthouse! which is inhabited by the lighthouse keeper. The lighthouse keeper is very friendly and can tell you a lot about the sea, beaches and the hinterland. Few tourists come, so the lighthouse keeper is delighted when someone comes by. You can drive up with a quad/4x4. Highly recommended!

It’s a long drive on a bumpy road through tiny villages. A 2 wheel drive car should work, but there are only 4WD’s on the island i guess. 4WD rental is cheap anyway (70 euros for a day) so no need to save on that. The road through the middle of Boa Vista is quickest, safest and fastest, paved all the way up to the village 10km before the lighthouse. The north road through Bofarreira is partly 4WD only, construction work is going on at this moment to pave that road too. Unfortunately the lighthouse is being renovated, all new windows and doors, and it’s not possible to go inside. I wanted to see the decayed version of it. But renovation is needed at some point i guess so it won’t crumble to nothing. The views are spectacular. Be careful for the deep unprotected hole in the ground in front of the front door of the light house. As always in deserts bring lots of water and something to put on your head against the sun. Fainting out there without help nearby can be lethal.

One of the most cutest lighthouses I have seen. With a stunning view. You only can come here with a 4w drive or a quad. It’s a little climb up. I recommend to wear at least sneakers if you come here.

Muss man hin.

Not much to see but wild, windy decay and long falls with traditional Cape Verde emptiness. The view is quite spectacular and, I'm told, affords sight of Sal Island on a clear day.

Spectacular drive by car, nice climb by foot and then there is that magnificent view. And on top of that: a personal tour by the light house keeper.

Inzwischen renoviert. Bewohnt (Leuchtturmwärter).

Nice old lighthouse with great view. Can be pretty windy ;) we met the light house guard. Super nice guy who directly took us up the lighthouse and showed us how he is living there. We have him a ride than for saying „thank you“ to him ;). There is two ways to geht from the little village to the lighthouse. One is better for 4xdrive, one bit longer but even faster is even good for a two tire engine.
