This small church is part of the history of the colonial area. It was built by the first African slaves in 1502 in honor of Antón Abad, the Christian monk who founded the eremitic movement. This was one of the three hermitages of Santo Domingo, the other two being the Chapel of the Remedies and the Hermitage of San Miguel. In 1586, this chapel was the victim of a fire during the invasion of the English privateer Francis Drake, and was later rebuilt. In 1930, the Hermitage of San Antón was destroyed by the San Zenón cyclone. It was rebuilt by engineer José Ramón Báez López-Penha of the Monuments Commission, using bricks and stone as construction material and based on existing photographs and paintings of this church.

HERMITAGE CHURCH OF SAN ANTÓN Monument that originated the neighborhood that surrounds it. It was rebuilt at the end of the 20th century based on old graphic documents. The original temple was burned by the French privateer Francis Drake in 1586 and destroyed by the San Zenón cyclone in 1930.

A small religious building located near the ruins of the Monastery of San Francisco. It was built by the first African slaves in 1502 in honor of the Christian monk Antón Abad.

Although the structure is not completely intact, but it looks beautiful, I would like it to be operational.

Excellent, but abandoned, a lot of noise, many unregulated grocery stores. A place with magic, with charm but wasted.

This hermitage is something historical, it was destroyed in an earthquake and then rebuilt during the Balaguer government, it is considered a relic.
