We found our spot! We stayed 8 nights and are completely satisfied with our choice to stay at Turtle Nest Inn, away from 7 mile beach and its contrived trappings (and resort fees). Choosing Turtle Nest Inn is more like having a tidy apartment with helpful friends available during business hours. My husband and I are casual people who prefer to support local small business over major corporations. But we are tourists, after all, so we did splurge on jet skiing to the Sting Rays with Fat Fish and The Sweet Spot took us to the bioluminescent bay. On our last visit to Grand Cayman, we did stay with one of the big boys at 7 mile. Going forward, I will choose the Turtles Nest, without hesitation, again and again for a more authentic island experience. I would recommend this place to friends and family and even suggest that we should meetup here someday. I would not say the same about my 7 mile experience, which was overpriced, crowded with obnoxious people, and insulated from the islands’ culture. At Turtles Nest, Donna will get you oriented and make you the most delicious Pina Colada to enjoy on the beach for 6.50, while on seven mile, you will pay thrice the price for a one that isn’t half as good; and we did try one out there for comparison. Another example of how you get more bang for your buck at Turtles Nest is the sports equiptment. Included in your stay, you can take out a kayak, paddle boards, and snorkel equiptment and more at no extra charge. It’s all at your disposal in the pool shed. We brought our own snorkel buoys and consider long sleeved swim shirts and pants because there are little jellyfish all around the island. We love to snorkel for hours everyday, and the coral formations are diverse and developed here. You can swim 100 yards out and explore the reefs edge and you will see many fish as well. The water is clear beyond the sea grass. There is a break out there in the water, just don’t go past that and stay away from where the reef is cut (clearly marked with buoys) to let boats in and out. We did not see much boat activity, but the reef cut may create a rip tide. It is easy to avoid. We didn’t see any cruise ships ruining the view either. The sun rises right on this beach, and it is worth waking up to see it… even it it means going back to bed for second sleep. Since we got the car rental package we did go to different parts of the island, driving on the left side of the road. But by the end of our 8 days, we were happy just to chill in place where we had lots of elbow room under the shade of palm trees. There is no fighting for beach chairs here. With the car, we also drove to snorkel at Eden Rock, Macabuca, Cemetary Beach, and Spotts beach. Pro tip: if you venture North by car, avoid traveling back south between 6-8pm where there is a rush hour traffic surge every day. The road is busy, so if the noise is going to bother you, go with an ocean view room. No matter where you are on the island though, you’re going to hear roosters crowing no matter what. Maybe pack some ear plugs if you’re a sensitive sleeper. We got takeout from the Chill Spot more than once, and we recommend The Jerk Chicken and drinks at The Czech Inn, where George is a super colorful host. Herman’s Fish Fry is another nearby local spot with pleasant outdoor casual seating with an ocean view. The rice and beans at Everglo had a signature flavor that I really liked. In Georgetown, we ate at Singhs Roti Shop. These places where the menus are marker on a dry erase board, were the best value and tasted great, like home cooking. We also cooked in our own fully stocked kitchen several times as well. For a little more $$ than the aforementioned, we also enjoyed, The Sunset Grill, The Silverside at Eden Rock, Macabuca (go at sunset), and Over The Edge. At these places, you pay a bit more for the atmosphere and service, but you can still show up in a wet bathing suit. Marleine, Donna, and Mango the dog are absolutely lovely hosts, and I would book a getaway at Turtle Nest Inn in a heartbeat.

Turtle Nest Inn is an absolute diamond in the rough. we’ve been to cayman many times but typically stay on seven mile. this trip we were looking for something more budget friendly and settled on Turtle Nest Inn, safe to say this is one of our #1 spots now and we will absolutely be back. the set up is perfect, we stayed in Apt 6, a top floor beachfront apt and we’d always choose this one if possible coming back. the pool right on the beach is absolutely perfect and we spent most of our days hanging by the pool. the beach and water is not as calm as seven mile but we expected this coming in and honestly we swam almost every day, we snorkeled many times right out in front of the Inn and we paddle boarded several times as it’s included for free use! the sea grass came and went, some days the water was super clear and other days after a storm, not so much but it truly didn’t bother us, if you’re worried about it, and i’m quite picky with my beaches most importantly the service at Turtle Nest brings it above and beyond. we were warmly welcomed by Donna when we arrived and met Marleine shortly after. Marleine and Donna were there to answer any questions we had or make us a pina colada at any time! Marleine also went above and beyond helping my boyfriend set up to propose while we were there, she helped set up, videoed the moment for us, and took pictures for us. the moment was truly so special and i can’t thank Marleine enough for helping it all go smoothly. the included car rental was one of the selling points for us and it really came in handy. we drove over to Tukka on the East End (about 25 mins) for dinner one night, and over the george town (about 20 mins) and seven mile (about 30 mins) for dinner 2 other nights. we also drove up to tour the crystal caves one day, went over to the botanical gardens on a gloomier day, and drove up to rum point (about 30 mins) to take a night tour to starfish point, jellyfish beach, and the bioluminescent bay. the inn is on a busier local road, just something to keep in mind for driving! the rooms are pretty basic but absolutely adequate for what you need while you are visiting. we stopped at the grocery and liquor store once (about 10 mins) and were good to cook meals in the apartment many days. we also took advantage of the grill multiple days as well. housekeeping is included if you prefer as well! the on site ice machine was also a huge plus for us. also the pool was getting redone starting the day we left, can’t wait to see how it turns out! we truly had a magical trip. after getting engaged we really felt we were able to just relax, soak it up, and enjoy our time together. even when the inn seemed to be booked full, it felt like no one was there. we often had the pool and beach to ourselves most of the day. we already were talking about coming back before we even left so we can’t wait to get back to Turtle Nest Inn 😊

We stayed in a beach front condo for 11 nights and our son flew in to meet us for the duration. The rental car from Payless that is included in your booking was great and hassle free. The condo is very large, two floors with bedrooms and en-suites upstairs. It is spotlessly clean although the old style jacuzzi tubs should be replaced with something more updated and sanitary. The kitchen is large with full size fridge and stove and BBQing is a short walk. The best feature is the walk out the back patio to the pool and beach. The water is warm and good for snorkeling but it was super windy during our stay so we didn’t see much. We rarely interacted with the owner but the staff are very helpful and very pleasant. Highly recommend and we would stay here again

Quiet side of Grand Cayman and away from the over crowded Seven Mile Beach. Rental car from airport included in stay. Bit aged, but very pleasant and roomy. Nice balconies with view of beach. Note there is a long climb of stairs to most units. No food, but grocery store not far away with the car. WiFi was excellent. Note, local roosters begin crowing early and it's on the main road so traffic during rush hours is quite noisy but didn't bother me. If it concerns you, ask for back side units away from road.

Incredible place. Loved every minute. Marleine and Donna were accommodating, engaging and respectful of our privacy too. Genuinely could not have asked for a better place to start our move to the island. A fully serviced, sizeable apartment. Comes with a car too, which is hard to believe but true, and a complete life saver. One tip: would avoid rush hour traffic as there is a mad amount of traffic on the island. The Inn is right on the beach. When you first go for a swim it’s typically lovely: white sand, clear water, warm. But put on a pair of snorkels and you realise there is a whole world underneath you. It’s incredible. They have snorkels there for all guests so no worries there. Would recommend the place to anyone: thank you so much.

Nestled in the southeastern corner of Grand Cayman, Turtle Nest Inn presents an authentic island experience, far away from the hustle and bustle of Seven Mile Beach and Hog Sty Bay. An intimate and welcoming setting with friendly service and a cosy atmosphere, your stay here will feel less like a hotel and more like a home away from home. Take it from the many guests who have returned again and again for decades now.

We are wrapping up a 2-week stay here, and are already making plans to return. That is highly unusual for us, as we’re usually off in another direction. But when you find a place that is brilliantly managed, ideally located, boutique-sized (if not smaller) with spacious apartments, a flawlessly maintained and very peaceful beach at your doorstep, spotless accommodations AND a rental car included in the price, you quickly realize on this island that you’ve found a special place indeed. Photo of the sunrise was taken from the expansive balcony that stretched from living room to bedroom and was typical of our entire stay. A toes-in-the-water shot was not even a minute away if desired. Snorkeling is surprisingly good mere meters from shore, with the offshore reef beyond keeping conditions consistently pleasant. In short, a sublime, restful respite.

My husband and I visited Grand Cayman for the first time, and are so glad we stayed at the Turtle Nest Inn. Making our reservation was super easy, and having a car bundled with the reservation was an added bonus. The apartment was exactly as described, and we appreciated having a full kitchen. The gas grill by the pool was a thoughtful touch, and we grilled our dinner several nights. I'd be hard pressed to explain what was better -- the warmth of the staff and the other guests, or the ability to relax and enjoy the natural splendor of the island. I loved being able to snorkel directly from the beach (and seeing a resident Southern stingray each time).

Beautiful place! We rented a condo which was recently renovated and quite large. Staff are very helpful and friendly. View of the ocean is perfect. Away from touristy 7 Mile Beach. Great central location between East End and West Bay.

We're going here for a few years now and can't get enough of it. The Inn is definitely smaller than the giant resorts on the Seven Mile Beach which adds a cozy feeling to its charm. Excellent, small staff, very professional yet warm. The absolute greatest attraction is that the reef is 50m from the shore and the marine life there is abundant. Literally, by the reef, you float in 3 feet or less of water and there is a world of marine life in front of your eyes. And the reef stretches along the south shore for miles. It's magic.

Loved it! Plenty of amenities. Good snorkeling. Only negative was it is a little far from most restaurants, however not competing for beautiful beach space more than made up for it. Plus, Mango was super cute!!

We loved the Turtle Nest Inn. It has apartments in both the charming hotel and in condos next door. We stayed in a condo. Both the hotel & condos are right on a long beautiful beach. The snorkeling in front of the hotel is very good. We saw manta rays, a wide variety of fish, & coral formations that were as healthy as any I saw on the island. The units are self- catering & have among the best provisioned kitchens of anywhere I've been. Beds were extremely comfortable. It has 2 pools, one of which is salt water. There are good restaurants nearby. It's in Bodden Town, which is a lovely town w old style Cayman homes. Turtle Nest is about 40 minutes from Seven Mile Beach which is a completely different type of environment. If you want serenity, access to a long beautiful beach with walk in snorkeling, & the opportunity to be far from the densely packed Seven Mile Beach area, this is a wonderful place to stay. We'll be returning!

We had a great time at the Turtle Nest Inn over the past week. We chose Grand Cayman as the destination to celebrate our 5 year anniversary, and it was perfect! The Turtle Nest Inn was recommended to us by a friend for its great location, hospitality, and cleanliness. We couldn't agree more! The inn's beach is quaint and intimate, making it a great relaxation spot. The beach and pool area were kept clean as well. We also enjoyed the visits by Fluffy, a neighbor dog, who often sat with us on the beach in the shade of the palm trees. Our room was a beachfront apartment. It was very clean and had plenty of space. We wanted a full kitchen for our stay, and the room had all the essentials we needed. The staff cleaned our apartment every day (with no service charge), and everyone was friendly and helpful. The balcony overlooking the beach was our favorite spot to enjoy a cup of coffee. The inn's location was perfect for us as well. We wanted to explore the whole island, so the rental car that came included was important. From the inn, we could easily get to all parts of the island in a reasonable amount of time. We really enjoyed our stay, and we hope to be back again soon!
