Very disappointing all round. I’ve been so impressed by the Chef before lockdown. Delicious appealing dishes full of flavour. We chose not to have alcohol so we could fully taste the food. His vegan menu selection I thought unappealing and far too light for grown up diners who need proper protein balanced vegan food. To enjoy food I need enticing aromas rising from each dish. There were none. I’m not a vegan as I’m 75 and observe that nutritionists advise me to include some animal protein including red meat to provide me with essential nutrients. But I enjoy vegan food… when it’s flavoursome and has gorgeous aromas.. think hot freshly roasted crispy skin of chicken/duck/potatoes/roast onion. I cannot recommend the current menu. Leaving this aside, why is it some French waiters put down their diners? They’ve a reputation for arrogance they deserve on the evidence of my experience here. Most uncomfortable. So all together for the reasons I’ve explained I cannot recommend this restaurant. CH

Incredible food, wonderful service and a lovely environment. We celebrated a birthday and they made this special effort. Ignore all the low star reviews, they’re written by carnivores who refuse to admit that vegan food is amazing. Be open, look into the dishes and enjoy the flavoursome experience. Will absolutely be returning.

I am a long-standing Gauthier returnee since about 2013 and consider it a 5star restaurant. I’ve always loved coming back to such a pleasant and comfortable dining room. Food was great, first time on the vegan menu and the food was great. To be honest I’m never going to be a total vegan convert but could eat the Truffle Noire all day long. Service was a bit messy/slow today. Probably covid related and thus forgivable. Sadly the unforgivable sin here was serving food on consumer ceramics. Being delivered a ‘best of vegan’ dish on a H&M or Steelite ceramic is not going to go un-noticed. It is substandard and embarrassing. Please, please don’t think people won’t notice. Attention to every single detail matters. It was immediately noticeable that the food was being served on mass produced ceramics and in my eye, it is 50% horrifying and 50% heartbreaking. London is full of wonderful ceramic artists and Gauthier should invest in better tableware. It’s not nice to eat out but know you have better ceramics at home. I will attach photos, not to be nasty but just to provide evidence and to prove my point. I hope that Gauthier will give this stuff to charity and invest in the phenomenal ceramic artists in London to make their food stand out even more.

Breathtaking vegan course of creative dishes - they even serve a 3D printed fake meat (not locally sourced though). There are many cool moments in the experience from a little surprise to wonderful presentations. I can only recommend this place, it's a lovely meal and a great gift to any of your vegan friends! Apart from the meal, which was undoubtedly one of the best I ever had, the atmosphere and the service was nothing special. The dining room is rather blend and the waiters seemed rushed when they were explaining the dish (it's understandable though, they're probably very busy). I would give 5* but I can't because we actually found a hair in the chocolate sauce of the dessert - it's most likely a prepackaged(?) sauce but still... the restaurant gave us 3 drinks on them as a compensation. Overall lovely experience and I will most likely return in the future:)

Loved the experience. High end gourmet food and loved the fact that it was all vegan! The presentation was spectacular. I'm still dreaming about the truffle pasta, yummy. And the wine was very good. Service was quiet, but good. To be honest, I would have loved it to have been a smaller meal as I didn't do any justice to the last few courses. It was simply too much to eat. In all they had 10-11 courses! My one annoyance was the waitress handing the menu to my husband when I asked to look at the wine menu. Come on- it's the 21st century and I paid for the meal!

Romantic, classy and intimate. The perfect restaurant for date night or a celebration. Both the vegetarian and regular tasting menus were delicious. The service was impeccable and it’s centrally located too. Make sure to get reservations so you can enjoy this experience!

Gauthier is such a wonderful place for a fine dining experience! Located in the heart of Soho in a historic townhouse which has been renovated it serves fresh and interesting menus. The vegan tasting menu is excellent. Staff is attentive and friendly without being overbearing.

A spectacular experience. We've visited Gauthier for their special Valentine's Day tasting menu. The only upper-class vegan restaurant I've been to. Dishes were all incredible, and I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Came here Thursday 22nd to celebrate wife's birthday 4 years to the day since our last visit. Great that it is now 100% Vegan. We had the 11 course grand dinner option. The service and food was again exceptional. The layers of flavours in each dish were impressive to say the least. Enjoyed that you are not rushed and can just take it at a nice pace. It seems a recent reviewer has a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Likening it to that of a school canteen. Feels a bit insulting when you consider all the other positive reviews. I just want to personally thank the Gauthier team for another great food experience and shall look forward to returning, hopefully not a 4 year gap this time.

Overall disappointed by the food and service. Had the 10 course tasting menu. Took 3.5 hours, I got more hungry during the meal, and even after. Have some really good concepts, but my worth the price. Food: Off to a good start, the first few courses were really good. But the main dishes were poor, including 2 asparagus dishes which were too similar to each other. The pea one was bland, the worst dish. The main course was turnip on asparagus, a lump of ok tasting and dense turnip makes it the second worst dish. The praline dessert had so many layers of tastes, this was extremely delicious. Service: took so long between dishes, not sure what the hold up was, we were never told. The waitress/waiters rushed through the dish descriptions I had trouble catching everything. Quite a few dribbles from pouring, but the jars they're using really don't help them to do a good job. Edit: echo another review where our bill was just placed without any interactions by a staff, not even eye contact, was a bit strange and cold!

Stunning tasting menu. Very creative set of dishes on the winter menu. It’s a 2 hour experience that was filled with delicious items and a very courteous and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

The best dining experience I’ve ever had, no question about it. The depth and range of the food was truly mind blowing and presented in a way that made it feel hard to break it apart. The recommendations on the best way to eat what had been presented by the staff was enjoyable and their warm and welcoming personalities were very much appreciated. We came away from this feeling pleasantly full and absolutely buzzing from all the new tastes and experiences. As they are a sessional restaurant I will be sure to come back for their summer menu. The decor is very neutral which I felt was right as it doesn’t detract from what’s presented to you, except for when you enter the toilets which have more a kinky party vibe, which was also appreciated. Highly recommended!

We had a really lovely meal here. We had the set menu. The food was delicious and a good amount for a light dinner, and all vegan! The wine pairings were excellent and our server was friendly and attentive. I can recommend the oat milk cappuccino, one of the best I've had! I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you wanted to treat yourself to a nice meal out.

An absolute 5 star experience. The place is very cozy and intimate - and the 7 course meal we had was amazing. All the staff were on point, and our main server was enthusiastic, and loved to be there. Every course was explained and one thing that put icing on the cake was my wife wanted a dish from another prefixed menu; and they came through with a plate of it just so she could try it. Would definitely recommend this venue.

A wonderful culinary experience from beginning to end. A Michelin star Vegan restaurant is hard to come by so it's a not to be missed bucket list fine dining experience. The service is outstanding, staff are knowledgeable about every food item and the wine list. The atmosphere is chilled, nice low-level music make it easier to concentrate on the important part here, the food. The vegan caviar is a must try, not only delicious but for the sheer mastery of it. All the dishes throughout the evening were superb. I can't wait to come back in the new season to try the next creations

Vegan fine dining at its finest! We’re both vegan, and visiting London from LA, we instantly wished we had a plant-based restaurant this special at home. We had the petit 5-course tasting menu (which actually ends up being more like 7-8 courses including dessert) and it was beyond incredible—the best vegan dinner I’ve ever had. From an amazing plant-3D printed “meat” dish to the outstanding butternut squash risotto, homemade lemon butter & roll, and of course the strawberry brûlée dessert… this made for one of the most memorable meals I’ve experienced. 10/10 we’ll be coming back every trip to London!

Terrific food is to be had here! Reserving your table early is essential though as it is usually packed and books out fast. If you go for lunch, you'll get pretty much the same but for a very reasonable price, too!

My girlfriend and I had a great anniversary experience at Gauthier. We meant to go to Gauthier for a long time and were able to make a reservation for the petit dinner on a Saturday. Booking via email or phone is recommended as you can express more clearly your preferences for seating. We had a wonderful table next to the window on the ground floor. The whole restaurant is very cozy and has a certain warmth to it. Staff were amazing, two waiters serving you is definitely worth paying the 15% service charge (unlike other restaurants in London). We had the petit dinner but for us it was more than enough as the dishes came out one after the other. Food was incredible, fresh, tasty and really innovative. Will definitely come back once they change the menu with the new year. Thank you!

Absolutely unbelievable vegan meal!! Every course was a delightful explosion of flavors. The creativity in each dish was evident, showcasing the chef's mastery of plant-based ingredients. From the appetizer to the dessert, I was thoroughly impressed by the thought and effort put into crafting this extraordinary culinary experience. The balance of textures and tastes kept me engaged throughout the meal. Kudos to the chef for pushing the boundaries of vegan cuisine and delivering a dining experience that left me both satisfied and amazed.

Gauthier is a part of a special group of chefs elevating plant based cuisine as a whole. While I wouldn't give every dish 5 stars, there were a number of standouts which would keep me coming back. Namely, the pasta dish was delicious, rich, decadent and satisfying, We loved the flaky bread served with a shot of warm soup. Deserts were very nice including the profiterole served with the bill. The service was attentive and accommodating. The atmosphere is minimalist but chic, a clean palate where the food draws your attention.

I loved the experience, Vegan Michelin quality food. Visited as an early birthday treat for my Veggie friend. I found most of the dishes exciting enjoyed almost every course save for the desserts - they were a little dry and not as rich or refreshing as i might have hoped. Would have appreciated a second portion of the preceding courses. The veggie guest was not as impressed as it is fully vegan and was left wanting. Service was precise if not a little clinical and the setting could be seen as a little cold. I enjoyed the privacy of the seating being together while apart. We spent about £120 per person.

We tried the petit dinner tasting menu. The whole evening was incredible. The atmosphere, service, and food exceeded my expectations and we are already planning our next visit to try the Summer menu. Each dish was clearly very well thought out and executed, and I tried some of the best food I have ever eaten. All the servers were professional and helpful. There were only 3 other tables in use on the floor we were on, making the experience feel intimate whilst still professional. Whether vegan or not, this is definitely worth trying. Thoroughly recommend.

I cannot rate the green menu highly enough; stunning dishes made with quality and care. Amazing value for fine dining - I would have expected to pay much more. With the additional measures in place for covid, the restaurant is much more intimate and cosy (they've removed half of the tables!) But you will need to book weeks in advance for weekend dining.

Given the chef's reputation and passion for vegan food, I was expecting a lot from the food here, but was left very disappointed. I've had much better vegan tasting menus even at non-vegan restaurants. Other than the food, staff were very friendly and the room had a nice ambience.

We went to Gauthier Soho on Saturday night after hearing so much good about it. Very pleasant experience, the menu is now entirely vegan and every course is a wonderful surprise. The first course is a pea sorbet that comes on a smoking plate, the truffle tortellini are the best pasta i ve had in my entire life, the disappearing strawberry was magical, everything was perfect. Small room made for a lovely atmosphere, intimate tables, and friendly service. Will definitely go again. Bravo Mr Gauthier

This was my first visit since Alex Gauthier reopened his restaurant and I wasn’t disappointed. We started with scallops moved onto his risotto with truffles. Then I had the cod whilst my wife tried the quail. We finished with cheese. All washed down with the excellent wine recommended to us by the helpful staff. Do try a meal here. COVID precautions are all in place but they didn’t impinge on our enjoyment.

This is a true gem. Tucked away in a gorgeous townhouse just around the corner from the buzz of Soho and Leicester Square, it is a little oasis. The cooking is beautiful. I went recently for lunch, which I would highly recommend: you get a beautifully balanced cuisine for a fraction of what you'd normally pay in the evenings. One of my favourites in the area!

Extremely dissaponted with Gauthier service. I bought 3 faux gras terrine with wine pairing last December for Christmas and still I haven't received it! DHL informed me the package was damaged and I need to contact with Gauthier about refund or resend item. For the last 2 months I tried contact with you on many occasion by email or phone with no results. Im so disappointed with service and luck of care. I suspected much more from Michelin restaurant.

My boyfriend is vegan and we came here for our anniversary as it had been spoken highly of by friends. We had also previously visited Gauthier’s 123V restaurant in Fenwick and really enjoyed the vegan sushi. Over the nine courses, we had a flavour journey - it was an artful demonstration in what can be done with vegetables, with the tendency not to repeat flavours. For example, I usually don’t reach for beetroot, but when you combine it with flavours of cocoa, cherry, and parsley, you can’t help but savour it. Our favourite dishes were the tomato ravioli, the courgette flower, the laminated brioche, and the chocolate dessert. Also worth noting that after 9 courses, we were absolutely stuffed (my boyfriend is a big guy), so don’t feel like you’ll leave hungry “just because it’s vegetables”. The service was excellent and they even made a special message for our anniversary on the dessert plate. The art is from Gauthier’s private collection and also brings much to the townhouse and dining experience. Highly recommend for vegans (or not) if you’re looking to enjoy the creativity and be shown what can be done with veg. Will be coming again for special occasions in future.

This restaurant is superb whether you are vegan or not. I am not vegan but I enjoyed every course. They are also very accommodating and let us come in a few minutes before opening. We were under a time constraint and the whole staff worked with us. Our waiter Silvan made it happen made it work with our timetable without compromising on the details, quality of food and service. Great explanation about every course. Silvan also obliged to have our menu signed by the chef. Thank you. Bathroom is pretty cute. pictures below don't make the experience any justice. We sampled the vegan box as we could not visit the restaurant in lockdown, it was excellent. It arrived well packed and ready to reheat with easy to follow instructions. There was plenty for 4 people or 2x2 nights, the quality is what you would expect from Gauthier it was a first-class experience all round. It is also available with wine pairing and more recently a Tartufo menu which has meat options. Great value for this quality

My spouse and I dined here for lunch . The restaurant has been redecorated with hanging screens to provide separation between the tables. Service was courteous and attentive and we felt very secure Covid wise. The food was excellent my spouse dined off the "Green" vegan menu whilst I dined off the "Red" omnivore one. Both menus were delightful.

At £95 for 10 courses we thought it was very overpriced for what it really was. Portions were incredibly small and whilst there were some interesting spins on dishes there was nothing revolutionary (except for the caviar!). It's fantastic that a Michelin star chef is turning their talents to plant based eating but some dishes did just feel a bit lacklustre, and repeated uses of asparagus and Vegan cream cheese took away some variation; having eaten at countless vegan establishments I knew the potential and wanted Michelin star vegan food to exceed that, which I felt this didn't quite do. Everything seemed to be cooked wonderfully, but the majority of the dishes and the fine dining approach is not for all, and was not for us, as we spent the entire 3.5 hour dining experience feeling hungry throughout. Our server was exceptional, however it was not taken well when we asked to remove the £35 service charge, which on top of a £200 meal we just didn't love, we thought justified. We asked politely, pressing it was not a comment on the service at all, just a large amount and as the meal was very expensive and the service charge optional, we would like to opt out, which in other establishments is totally accepted, but here was to be met with a bad reception and seemed to be taken very personally. This is one to try if you've got the cash to burn, would value the experience and are interested in the vegan fine dining experience, but I don't think it's vital vegan dining in London.

Good vegan tasting menu and service. Truffle pasta dish was the highlight. Very disappointed with the dessert - they could do a lot better given it's a fully vegan fine dining restaurant. No faults or complaints. Service was on point, perfect amount of time between each delicious course. 5pm seating finished in 1hr 40m leaving plenty of time to get to a 7pm show. The black truffle risotto and the Veef tenderloin were standout dishes. Perfect reproductions of non-vegan version.

Fantastic place for a romantic dinner. We were looking for a plant based option for our New Year's Eve dinner and found Gauthier Soho through their PETA award. The service was outstanding and it was one of the best plant based meals I've ever had, especially the risotto. It's quite expensive, so for us it's a once-a-year thing, but it was completely worth it.

Came to lunch. Laughable effort in their dishes, really. Don't know what was wrong with their winter truffles, which carried a 15 pounds supplement. They smelled like gasoline mixed with detergent. Sent it back. Never came across truffles smelling remotely like this.

(Translated by Google) Perfect service and cuisine, the welcome is also there. I recommend it with your eyes closed. Refined dishes and a cheese platter worthy of being called a short piece of France in London. The framework is dark and very pleasant. I'll just end with a question "when will the star" (Original) Cuisine et service parfait l'accueil est également au rendez-vous. Je le recommande les yeux fermés. Des plats raffinés et un plateau de fromage digne de se nom bref un petit bout de France dans Londres. Le cadres est sombre et très agréable. Je terminerai juste par une interrogation "à quand l'étoile "

Vegan lunchtime tasting menu was good effort but lacked the wow factor especially for the main course of roast parsnips. From the omnivore tasting menu the stand out dish was the duck. Charging the same for both vegan and omnivore menu seems a bit cheeky.

This place provides excellent service and delicious meals. The best place around here. The food and drinks came out rapidly and the prices were fair. Will definitely recommend this place.

Great tasting menu. Really enjoyed our meal, the wine pairings and the excellent service. Relatively good value. A couple of small touches would make this star worthy but you get the idea that they value their food and approach over the standardised Michelin experience.

Gauthier delivers in every way. We ordered the new delivery service of a vegan meal box and anticipated a lovely meal from our favourite restaurant. Not only did it meet our expectations, it added a fun element to the food. Smooth delivery of a new venture, from arrival on time, well packed and chilled to clever taste experiences. Preparing each dish was simple and fun, following the clear instructions it was just a case of combining clearly labelled elements, mixing, heating if necessary and plating up. The taste experience was a delight and it was like eating in a restaurant in our own home. It would be difficult to choose a favourite dish but the marinated peppers a la nicoise - watermelon sashimi - golden fennel boulangere and cauliflower harissa all qualify not forgetting the rose petals macaroons and dark chocolate truffles. Oh - lets just say everything. Congratulations on a successful launch. Top quality and good value.

One of the best meals I've ever had.. maybe actually THE best. The food is delicious, and the menu flows from one dish to another with such intelligent inventiveness that it feels comparable to a masterful music album. The experience flies by- we were taken to our table, presented with the beautiful first dish and then suddenly hours had past. The service is impeccable, while maintaining a grounded friendliness our waiter took us through the meal expertly, the evening is a real sensory overload of new flavours, textures and foods. The staff care about the menu, are proud of it, and care what you think too. The atmosphere is cosy but stylish, you have lots of room and it feels like you have your own private area. Really is worth every penny and then some. Could not recommend more. It is so nice to be this satisfied!!!

Absolutely spectacular experience with the spring menu! I’m still dreaming of those peas and shelled beans with the flaked almonds… The wine pairing was exceptional too, and the atmosphere is just sublime. I was visiting from Detroit—but I’ll be back.

This restaurant has a Tasting menu that changes every season, with wonderful staff that talk you through every course. You can enjoy accompanying wines with every dish, or just order as you go. This is one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had.

The service here is outstanding, could not fault it. The food is presented with enthusiasm and each course feels like well crafted, choreographed theatre. The private rooms feel intimate and opulent. The food is imaginative full of flavour with courses a careful balance between delicate and wholesome.

We had a delightful experience at Gauthier as a group of friends meeting up for a lovely evening. Fine dining is always a special thing, but Gauthier takes this to a new level with the vegan approach. Each dish was a surprise, with layers of flavour and texture bringing expressions of excitement and enjoyment around our table. We didn’t do the full wine pairing, but instead opted for a few glasses from the pairings to compliment a couple of courses, while others in the group stuck to water or cocktails. The staff were spot on as well and gave just the right amount of attention to our group - thanks team. We’ve also had a couple of the home delivery boxes from Gauthier and would happily recommend these as a way to bring the fine dining experience home.

My husband and I had the joy of the Chefs Dining Experience a few weeks ago, in celebration of my Birthday. We had the privilege of meeting Alexis, and discussing vegan passions with him. His passion to bring excellent tasting, cruelty free dining to vegans and non vegans is inspiring. The food was outstanding, and served to perfection with just the right amount of theatre. Tonight we enjoyed a home delivery box, sent straight from the restaurant. Its ease of preparation is incredibly user friendly, and doesn't compromise on flavour and experience. Thank you to the Gauthier family for always providing a great tasting, cruelty free, lovely meal.

The best meal I've ever had! The flavours are incredible and the service was second to none. My partner is not vegan and he also agreed this was one of the best meals he had ever had. And that's saying something as he goes to some top notch restaurants. I hope to come again soon and experience every season. Well done 👏

Wonderful food and wine, incredible service and great atmosphere. It's so refreshing to be able to go to a Michelin starred restaurant as a vegetarian, and especially as a vegan without feeling like your (limited) choice is an afterthought. The tasting menu managed to be unapologetically vegan, without relying on any meat substitutes at all. Instead it makes really good, innovative use of local, seasonal ingredients to create beautifully presented, balanced and exciting dishes.

My boyfriend and I came here for a romantic evening and we are honestly both so happy we settled on Gauthier. The food was astounding! I am vegan but my boyfriend is not and we both said that it’s one of the best meals we’ve ever had, potentially the best for me. We particularly loved the Mushroom loin and the Louis XV dessert. The service was also amazing! The waiter was so knowledgeable and passionate about the food, and the wine from the sommelier was delicious and worked so well. We both can’t wait to come again. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!

Wow! A fantastic evening with family on my 60th Birthday ! Great food, delicately presented and delicious, and fantastic wine. The best service that I’ve experienced in a restaurant. Will remember this meal for a long time.

I visited the restaurant on 2/7/21 with two friends. I was the odd one out as not a vegan! It was like going to someones beautiful house for the evening. Service was first class, food very good, beautifully presented and tasty. A couple of things I never ate purely as I am not used to vegan substitutes and not a lover of truffles. My friends had the house cocktails which they loved and I had 'orange' wine which was a first for me (very nice). Beautiful coffee to end our evening. Lovely experience.
