The facade looked old and the parking lot was almost empty. I was hesitant to enter this place, but luckily a security guard came out and greeted me. This old building actually hold a gem in botanical knowledge. The upper ground is mostly filled up with posters about the development of botanical science in Indonesia, but the lower ground has the real examples of relation between plants and culture. I just wish they have enough budget to update the collection presented on the lower ground. If you want to learn about traditional brewing and the use of plants in some cultures in Indonesia, be sure to check this museum.

The museum ticket is 15k, its worthwhile as you can obtain generous knowledge from here. I was fortunate to come there all alone. You will likely need to spend few hours as there's a lot of section to cover.

(Translated by Google) The place is nice, the setting is modern and neat. With an entrance ticket of Rp. 5,000 we can see interesting, informative and interactive exhibits too. Mostly about the history of the situation and the use of natural resources in Indonesia. Many places can be explored but unfortunately when we came on Saturday (closed faster than usual, at 14.00 WIB if I'm not mistaken) so the visit was a bit rushed because it was not closed. There is also a theater for presenting documentaries, but I didn't have the chance to watch them due to time constraints.

Museum near Kebun Raya. It was completely empty when we visited it (12 pm on a Monday), and I think it was like 30k rupiah total to enter, though I'm not sure. There was a lot here. They talked about spices, the history of spices in Indonesia and the Dutch, the geology of Indonesia, the different regions, different things from different regions, like various types of baskets, fish traps, etc. The one thing that was a major downside is there was almost nothing in English except for random graphs/models on the wall, which were completely in English? I got a decent amount out of the museum, however, using Google Translate where you take a picture of the text and it translates it. That's only viable if you have data though; there's no wifi as far as I know here. Also, not much in the way of A/C. There's a bit in the basement, but if you're not used to the Indonesian climate, I'd bring a fan of sorts. Plenty of parking out front, or there is when nobody is there haha. But it is a decent sized parking lot to park your car.

The collections were so extraordinary and complete about the richness of botanic in Indonesia. The ticket price was 5k. This museum was in good maintenance. Unfortunately, in the basement museum was so dusty and was arranged not-attractively like on the first floor.

It has 2 floors that you can explore. The lower floor is where the more collections take place. The upper floor has only some graphics that you can read along. You have to pay 15k to enter the museum

This museum has formerly known as Bogor Herbarium, as I remembered years ago. Since 2016, the government made it up in moden way. Not just a botanical museum but the etno-botani ones. This place shows us how the environment has closed relation to the human being since the century has bren started. I love it

Overall informative, but the large space can be made into more interactive installations to attract more visitors. Glad to see several other visitors bringing their kids. Some of the kids are scared in the lower ground floor, despite none of the specimens are scary, probably because of the low lighting of the old building. Hopefully in the future more kids-friendly designs can be incorporated without erasing the history.

During my recent visit to Indonesia, I had the privilege of exploring the Indonesian Museum of Ethnobotany, and it turned out to be a captivating experience that left me in awe of the country's diverse cultural heritage and the significance of plants in the lives of its people. The museum, nestled amidst lush greenery and beautifully landscaped gardens, exudes a serene ambiance that sets the tone for a truly immersive journey. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by friendly staff members who were enthusiastic to share their knowledge and passion for ethnobotany. The exhibits in the museum are thoughtfully curated, showcasing the intricate relationship between Indonesian communities and the plant kingdom. Each section provides insightful information on the traditional uses of plants for medicinal, culinary, ceremonial, and craft purposes. The meticulous attention to detail and interactive displays make the learning experience engaging for visitors of all ages. What impressed me the most was the emphasis on preserving indigenous knowledge. The museum not only highlights the historical significance of ethnobotany but also demonstrates its relevance in modern times. From time-honored healing remedies to sustainable practices for resource management, it showcases how traditional wisdom continues to enrich the lives of Indonesians today. As I meandered through the exhibition halls, I marveled at the vast array of plant specimens on display. The museum's herbarium houses an impressive collection of native plants, meticulously preserved and documented for research purposes. It was truly enlightening to witness the depth of Indonesia's botanical diversity and its role in shaping cultural practices over centuries. The Indonesian Museum of Ethnobotany also offers a variety of educational programs and workshops. I had the opportunity to attend a traditional craft-making class, where skilled artisans shared their expertise in using plant materials to create intricate handicrafts. The hands-on experience added an extra layer of appreciation for the resourcefulness and creativity of Indonesian communities. Beyond the exhibits, the museum hosts cultural events and performances that celebrate the country's cultural heritage. During my visit, I was fortunate enough to witness a traditional dance performance that beautifully portrayed the close connection between Indonesians and nature. In conclusion, the Indonesian Museum of Ethnobotany is a hidden gem that every visitor to Indonesia should explore. It is a sanctuary of knowledge, wisdom, and inspiration, shedding light on the harmonious relationship between Indonesians and the natural world. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply curious about diverse cultures, this museum offers an enriching experience that will leave a lasting impression on your heart and mind.

Place would good for science oriented Indonesian teenager. There are explanation signs that go on for thousands of words. But every single word is in Indonesian. I understand this is their country but considering that the museums charge higher admission price (50k IDR) for foreigners they could provide a brochure or token foreign language sign. I think any young child would be bored here. All building signage refers to Museum Sejarah Alam which translates as Natural History Museum. Quite different than 'Ethnobotony'. Signs that are provided in display cases are just dim enough to make reading difficult. There are stairs. No ramps or elevator.

Munasain is the only museum about Indonesia's natural history that provides complete and up-to-date information about the types of ecosystems and biological resources in Indonesia. For now, this museum consists of 2 floors, lower and upper floors, which are connected by stairs. The exhibition room is very spacious, clean and bright. The toilet is downstairs which, although relatively small, is relatively clean. In the future, this museum will be built on 5 floors. This revitalization effort is carried out so that the development of information can be even better.

The Bogor Ethnobotany Museum is a museum whose collection combines botany with ethnic cultural works throughout Indonesian archipelago. The inauguration of the museum was held on May 18, 1982 by Prof. BJ. Habibie, Minister of Research and Technology at that time, coincided with the anniversary of the 165th Bogor Botanical Gardens. This place has more than 2000 artifacts from various regions and islands in Indonesia. It includes items for household use, children's toys, traditional clothing, agricultural equipment, fisheries, musical instruments, etcetera, all of which are made from local plant parts. Various types of plant materials from various places in the country that are often used in traditional herbal ingredients can be seen at this museum. There are rice, turmeric, tamarind, ginger, and many others Indonesian traditional plants. Herbs of galingale and ginger may be the most popular. In other exhibition areas, the museum's tourism displays traditional handicrafts hats, baskets, mats, and other daily supplies made from parts of Palm trees. Hunting tools and tools in the form of spears, arrows, bamboo nets. There are also shields and sculptures typical of Papua are also on display. The size of the arrow is relatively very long compared to the bow, which might make it more stable and can be targeted closer to the target to be targeted, especially if used for archery fish. And many more. Thus, this museum is worth to visit with children and family.

A museum so rich in botanical knowledge, history, and culture of Indonesia. The interior design of upper floor has been mostly modernized now. Its a really educational and pleasant tourist attraction, kinda baffling how underrated this place is. The whole country should know it. The old-school laboratorium's equipments is surprisingly entertaining to see, espescially if you're someone that spends time working at a lab. There's a certain aesthetic in old research notes that your eyes cant get enough of. (Translated by Google) The museum is very good for learning the history of the development of science in Indonesia, especially in the field of botany, the Diorama began with the role of the Bogor Botanical Gardens until from the colonial era to the modern era. It is very good for students to have a flashback on the history of the Indonesian Nation which is famous for its natural wealth.

Modern infographics with tens of thousands samples collected over decades. News to me that both pioneers in catalogue-ing Indonesian bio diversity are germans on board of dutch and portuguese spice traders' ships. And the kebun raya was manmade with budget approval from the crown.

I think if u support more in this museum, this museum will be in a good shape. But because of the small amount of people going in this museum, the facilities are limited

It's good for science-lovers, especially if you're intrigued to discover about the history of plants and animals. Ticket's cheap but I hope they can add more to their collection. The museum seems to be an abandoned building, so dark that I didn't realize it was open at first.

This place is okay (on my perspective). The ticket price for weekend is Rp 25.000 (weekday is cheaper!). If you love botany things I think you must visit here. There are a lot of history of botanical. This place is clean, organize but on second floor is a little bit dark (if you don't like dark places don't come to second floor). However, its great place to get to know more the history of botanies
