From Putri to top is a 3h climb. It only takes 6 hours if you smoke every 5 minutes and drink sugary coffee and stop every 15 minutes, apparently it's the local way of hiking. Camp site is large enough for you to find a spot, even over the weekend. It's really cold (drops down to 4°C + chilly winds at night) be sure to get proper winter night camping equipment! Enjoy the cigarettes smoke in your lungs while hiking at 3,000m and constant disgusting littering from locals... What a shame. It's super crowded during holidays and weekend... If you're on holidays, I'll recommend going during weekdays! Beautiful scenery, beautiful forest, beautiful volcanoes... Get a guide that will take care of the paperwork to avoid paying crazy buleh price for no reason ;) Putting 2 stars because of the littering and locals' behavior

A beautiful mountain. Scenery is good but can see garbage there :(. In my trip, I can see mostly hikers are taking care of there garbage. I booked a guide so I am not sure what is the process to register but one thing I am 100% sure for foreigners there is a registration and that is not cheap. About the hiking. I love the waterfall, it's amazing and very cold. There is a hot spring. Which is amazing. Water is really hot I think no one can take his hand inside of water more than 5 seconds. A lot of steam and hiking is little difficult on hot spring. I didn't make a plan for the volcano, so I come back from the hot spring. If you have a plan to enjoy volcano then you need to make a plan for 2 nights and 1 day. One side hiking is around 8 hours. If you only want to enjoy hot spring then that is around 4 hour hiking for one side. If you only want to enjoy waterfall then I think 1 hour hiking.

You should be here!!! Foreigner entry permit for 2 Day 1 night is 470000rupiah. I visit here for 3d2n so I paid 940000rupiah. It is worth to have such a weekend escape. Hotspring and waterfall. Blue crater lake. Please train yourself well before visit here, the stair step is big gap and drain out most of your energy if you do not train.

Great view atop. Hiked from the shortest, most-crowded track from cibodas. What a letdown to see hikers which are supposedly environmentally aware, litter like it was nothing. Garbages in every meter of my hike.

it does takes time to climb this mountain but it's worth with what you sacrifice for. I was starting from cibodas entrance and set up a tent at kadang badak post before climbing to summit. spent a day at alun alun surya kencana then went down through gunung putri track. Enjoying the scenery of alun alun surya kencana is what I wanted for.

Hike with friend or group is advised for everyone that will start the first hiking, because the track is very friendly, but still far and drains a lot of energy.. :) The view is very beautiful.. The management system of this mountain was have ISO 14001 : 2004 Certificate..

Mt. Gede Pangrango Saturday, 11 August 2018 I've been 8 hours to hiked this Mt. Gede Pangrango with route Gunung Putri. Started from Gunung Putri 06.30 AM, and arrived in Surya Kencana 03.00 PM. We build our campsite in this place Sunday, 12 August 2018 I went to Puncak Gede only 1 hour from Surya Kencana. After that, i went down 10 hours with route Cibodas. Started from Puncak Gede 01.00 PM and finished in National Park Of Gunung Gede Pangrango Office Cibodas 11.00 PM. - Why you took so long? My team had a stomacache and can't walk normally. CC6_

Worth to do in the weekend. For me best route will be Putri to Cibodas. Never try Selabintana. Safe hike :)

The first big mountain I climbed was in 1997. The difference is very big from now. Now it's like a very busy night market 😂😂😂. Does not matter. Because the view is that good and the journey is that addictive (especially when it's crowded). Cross hiking, recommend going up Cibodas down Putri. Fast hiking, Up Princess down Princess. Serene hiking, up and down Salabintana. Tektok, recommend via salabintana. Can run fast. (if via daughter, there are lots of drops) There are many sources of water, via Cibodas. There is no other path. Salabintana actually has a water source, but if it's the dry season, don't expect it. The most spots for photos, via Cibodas. Prepare physically and mentally, even though it is safe for beginner climbers, it would be better if before climbing, everything is well prepared. Polite and courteous, both between climbers and with nature. And don't forget to take your rubbish with you. Take care of nature, so that nature can take care of us.

Mount Gede or Gunung Gede (Big Mountain in Sundanese) is a stratovolcano in West Java, Indonesia. The volcano contains two peaks with Mount Gede as one peak and Mount Pangrango for the other one. Three major cities, Cianjur, Sukabumi and Bogor, are located in the volcano complex at the east, south and northwest, respectively, along with suburban growth.

In my opinion, the scenery is very good, even though the road is very far and quite tiring, but when you reach the top it is very satisfying

I climbed with my friend on the big mountain via princess and went down via the rhinoceros. there are very many climbers from various areas of this princess path in my opinion is very gentle compared to the rhino path the climbers are more concerned about this princess path because it is indeed a gentle path and many climbers pass by after peaking the temperature there is very cold, especially at night in the world, in the big mountain itself there are many edelweiss plants that are very rarely found other than in the big mountain. many experiences and impressions during the climb because it is indeed the beauty of nature that makes calm for those who feel.

Fantastic place with stunning views from the top of Mount Gede. 2 days + 1 night permit at Cibodas’ gate cost 320,000rp for foreigners plus 25,000rp for a “compulsory” medical check (takes ~5min to do). You could potentially go without a permit if you start your hike very early and finish it late as the guards at the entrance aren’t always there. (I’d say 7am to 5pm). It can get really crowded during the weekend. It took for us around ~2h hours to reach the Hot Springs from the entrance. Then ~45mim to reach the camp site between the two volcanoes. And ~1 hour to reach Mount Gede, that trail was the steepest of the hike. Only down side , lot of litter in the shelters and campsite. Have fun!! 😁
