My new favorite trail to walk the dogs! People are super friendly as well. Perfect place to decompress. Bring your water bottle since the water fountain is a hit or miss.

We parked down by the military reserve, but this review is for the trail system itself. This was an unexpected trail-runners dream find! We were looking for some local trails to run on during a short stop-over, and wow! I thought we'd just find some old dusty road. Not so! I had no idea that Boise had these trails. We went in early May, so it was still green and not too hot and dusty. We got in an 11.4 mile run, with outstanding views and limited trail traffic, especially in the more remote trail areas. Took the Kestrel, Crestline & Sidewinder route, and looped back. Was about 1600 ft of elevation gain so it was challenging and we could run the whole way, without it being a killer (or just a hike). People on the trails were pleasant, cyclists were courteous. NOTE: we started early, at about 7 am (on Sunday). By the time we were getting back, around 9 am, it was already getting hot and was very busy, so if you're going, go early or you may have trouble getting a decent parking spot and/or you'll find the trails much more crowded.

SOoooo much to explore!! Dog trails, bike trails, horse trails.... human trails... well, you get the point! There is literally, a seemingly- never ending system of trails all around, that just beckon you to wander one direction or the other! The cemetery is pretty neat to look at, and weโ€™ve seen plenty of wildlife (the nonscary variety) while weโ€™ve been up there. We really like taking the small staircase up to the beautiful city vista and then to the picnic area to overlook where we just hiked up. You could easily spend a number of hours out here without getting bored! Just make sure to use a restroom ahead of time- only one up there and sadly, itโ€™s not always stocked. Bring your own TP if you gotta go! Still looking forward to our next adventure anyways!! :)

Great place for hiking and biking. We often come as a homeschool hiking group and this area is nice but a lot of the trails are rather busy and are narrow that you have to move off the trail to allow them to pass which can be a little troublesome with larger groups. I have also found that people don't expect us mid day and get frustrated with our pace or stopping along the way for discoveries. Great place to discover and explore otherwise.

It can get very muddy with rain and snow, but it is an easy hike with hills that aren't so steep. Beautiful views of the mountains towards the distance and great view of downtown Boise when the skies are clear.

A beautiful place to run with incredible trails, there are huge elevation changes so the climbs can be tough but it's worth the view of the city. Friendly for bikers, runners and hikers alike.

Nice place for a day hike or just some exercise. The cemetery is full of history. The story of Capt. Patrick Collins is there. The family lost all four sons within days of each other to scarlet fever. Hard life.

Popular, yet plenty of rooms on the various trails for everyone: hikers, runner, bikers, families and dogs. Beautiful flowers in the spring and a creek runs through it most of the year.

Great place for a nature walk / light hike. Scenic views. Also fun to see the old fort Boise cemetery from a cool angle across the adjacent ridge.

Great place to start a hike with many trail heads to choose from! Most elevation climbs are less than 250 feet with spots to rest in between.

This is a great place for mountain biking. So many trails to choose from. Options for all skill levels. Also has a dog park, kids area, and archery range. Very convenient to downtown Boise.

The archery range out here is excellent. Roads a little muddy while snow melts and all. But the range is gravel and the targets are great. And every other archer we've met has been really nice and encouraging.

Another awesome find in/near Boise/ Mt Home. Basically a Free BMX bike park with wooded trails for long rides. Bring helmets, any protective gear you have. Really great place especially for little ones (balance bike and up) to learn how to ride ramps, jumps, bowls. Has progressively harder jumps. Don't think about it, just go for it!
