I had a lunch with my freinds at this restaurant the atmosphere was somewhat good but upstairs need more lighting. I was able to test there food such us there special and dirkoshfirfir and tibs. overall what I like was only the dirkoshfirfir the other food are not that much testsy. and the other point is there food is very expensive personality I don't belive that it's not fair price in related to the kind of food it's served.
I really like this place the food is consistently delicious, especially if you're looking to try authentic Ethiopian cuisine this is the place to go to. The service is excellent, and the restaurant is always clean and welcoming.
“The Ethiopian food here is an absolute delight. Each dish is bursting with rich, authentic flavors that transport you straight to Ethiopia. The injera is perfectly soft and tangy, pairing wonderfully with the vibrant and aromatic stews. Highly recommended!"
I tried to have tibs. The simple Bond was very simple. But the red one was very spicy and good taste
Now this was a spectacular experience for my taste buds. For anyone travelling to Addis Abeba, Ethiopia (Katanga restaurant) is a MUST. Beautifully traditional dining experience. What’s on show today was jaw dropping the pictures do not capture the mind blowing aromas & spicies presented to us. My colleagues and I sat in awe as very large sized plates were served/shared perfectly amongst us. With the staple traditional teff injera (this super-soft, slightly sour pancake-like, spongy unique base) covered the plate to soak in all of the species of this spectacular dish. Hopefully you’ve been able to picture what we were experiencing from this description, if not just look and marvel at the pictures. The diced spicy lamb mixed with herbs, spices & chilli’s traditional (Awaza Tibs) was a favourite & one I’d definitely recommend. The other large plate had an array of colours with a mix a different options. With salads, traditional Shirou & Misera(Vegan favourites), aswell as diced lamb for meat lovers so we can all eat together as one. Eating is a union here in Ethiopia and inside Ethiopian restaurants you’ll notice it is done together. (Make sure to understand the traditional protocol of washing your hands before you eat, it is a must!)
I had the Fasting Variety and finished it all. Worth every birr. Frequented mostly by locals but you will see the odd tourist that had the good fortune to find the place. So good that it was worth a second visit and I tried their Gored Gored which was outstanding.
Ethiopian food with original flavors. Our order took 20-plus minutes to be served, but it was hot and spicy. I enjoyed the food and the tea afterwards Recommended dish: Quanta Firfir
amazing atmosphere and food!! the best injera in addis ababa
I don't understand the interplay of spices in Ethiopian cuisine. But I know what tastes good to me, and this was an amazing array of colourful wot and tibs. I loved the boiled wild cabbage (or was it papaya leaf), which has been transformed into something magical. The food was more than generous for two people. Service was attentive and deferral. Kategna is a class act and tastefully exemplifies how Ethiopian food should be.
