The airport was well-organized and clean, with clean toilets. A bus is provided to transport passengers and staff ensured that everyone follows the rules, such as not standing on the bus. To avoid delays, it's essential to be in the correct line for accommodation or transit, especially during busy times. I would recommend wearing comfortable clothing as you will need to remove your shoes quite a few times during check-in. If you are staying overnight, you will be given a suggested bus departure time to the airport but you are free to leave earlier if you prefer.

Bole International Airport, located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is the main gateway for travelers to and from the country. Named after Emperor Haile Selassie, the airport has undergone significant renovations and expansions in recent years, aiming to improve its facilities and services. The airport features two terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international flights. Terminal 2, in particular, has seen extensive upgrades, including new lounges, more seating areas, and refurbished restrooms. Despite these improvements, travelers have mixed experiences at Bole International Airport. On the positive side, many commend the airport for its modern look and the availability of amenities such as shops, restaurants, and lounges. The airport also offers free Wi-Fi, which is a plus for passengers needing to stay connected. Additionally, the visa-on-arrival process has been streamlined, making it easier for international travelers. However, there are areas where the airport falls short. Some travelers have reported long queues, especially during peak times, and overcrowded waiting areas. The security checks can be rigorous, with multiple screenings required for some flights, leading to frustration among passengers. The quality of customer service has also been a point of contention, with reports of unhelpful or indifferent staff. Overall, Bole International Airport serves as a crucial hub in East Africa, facilitating both domestic and international travel. While it has made strides in improving its infrastructure, there is still room for enhancement in terms of passenger experience and service quality.

The Bole International Airport is not getting my 5-star because I have been to the Istanbul and the Doha airports. Let's not compare. However, one thing I like about Bole International Airport is that there is a consistent work in progress to upgrade. I really hope the work in progress will finish eventually, but it shows a desire for excellence. Please, keep striving... keep representing Africa!

Bole airport has open wide views and uses lots of natural daylight. Plenty of sitting arrangements and seats for laying over and stretching the legs. There are some lounges, and lots of restaurants too. It also includes prayer rooms, free WiFi, but less drinking water facilities. If you have a long layover through Ethiopian Airlines, you can talk with their customer care. They give you free access and tokens for free meals in the Silver Lounge, which is a very good gesture of hospitality from Ethiopian Airlines. Some parts of the airport are still under construction and expanding. Air-conditioning and humidity control can be little improved though. If layover is more than 8 hours, they give you a transit visa with hotel accommodations inside the city for free. IMPORTANT NOTES: Try not to travel to or from the hotel to airport by local cabs. Only use hotel transportations which usually wait outside the airport. Hotel name will be written outside the car. There is a chance that Local cabs can take you somewhere else and rob you, because you don't know anything there. Be careful.

One thing I liked about this airport is the cleanliness but I don't understand why I'm getting 5 check stops while going through gate A18, even though 5 days ago I took the same gate and there were no check stops. I asked the security guy and he said it's for your safety, so why didn't they think about the safety 5 days ago? I honestly think this was harassment from their part. I really liked Ethiopian airlines but never again I want to have a stop by this airport and go through these unnecessary check stops.

A modern and well equipped airport with a lot of nice food places, shops and convenience facilities. Prayer spaces to accommodate all faiths. The staff were very polite and helpful throughout. Some toilets were well maintained and clean whilst those near the boarding gates could do with more staff to maintain them due to the large volume of users. Overall, a pleasant and fun airport experience.

Not my favorite airport but I was expecting worse. Everything was clean and nice. There are plenty of seats and even those you can sleep on during long connections. Not going to lie, didn’t expect prices of things to be as high as they were so come accordingly and bring snacks from home.
