This place gets 5 stars for it's one dish that they perfected. "Spicy chicken". It is a little sweet, good and spicy (but not painful), has a few nice token veggies in it, plentiful sauce, but not goopey. Everything else is fine and standard, but you go here for the spicy chicken. It is just as good as I remember it the first time I had it over 10 years ago.

Ive been a huge fan of Silk Road for the past 20 years, Amazing how time flies. I use to drive downtown just to get lunch at their jackson and Franklin location. The lasalle location is the last location left. The Spicy Chicken is one of a kind in my opinion. Cant wait to go back again and again.

Spicy Chicken is best anywhere. A chili sauce with a lot of kick with just the right amount of sweet. I also get the Spicy Shrimp often, basically the same as Spicy Chicken using shrimp. Dining area hot and humid. Employees were nicer on my last visit. Previous visits employees would grunt when you approach the register. I guess it's true, all good things eventually come to an end. Enjoy it while you can!

It was a restaurant that changed the way I think about Chinese cuisine. The orange chicken was too sweet. They were not very enthusiastic about other food suggestions. You can try some of their other dishes which might be good

It's a "hole in the wall" type of Chinese place in an alley that has basically the same chicken for every dish with a different sauce on it. They do it well though! They offer good size portions of cheap food that is crispy despite drowning in sauce. A lot of the lights are flickering and there is no table service.

Amazing experience! Loved the food! Amazing reasonably priced food and tasted so good! They gave a decent portion of the main dish and rice with my meal. It’s in a hard to find area but is worth your time coming here. It’s quick, cheap, and great food!

Spicy chicken was great. Egg roll was ok. Restaurant very clean inside. Lots of places to sit. Staff was friendly. Restaurant is in alley way and was hard to find.

I donno man, this place used to be so good! I haven't been back in a while. I got me some orange chicken today with some crab rangoon. The orange chicken is pretty mediocre. It used to be nice, crispy in thick/sticky delicious sauce. This is sitting in a pool of wet orange sauce and the chicken is OK but has no orange flavor to it because the sauce is all at the bottom of the container. The crab rangoon is served individually as well. I got some for a coworker assuming I would get a few but there was one crab rangoon in a tiny bag. Overall disappointed and most likely won't be going back anytime soon.

Super affordable Chinese lunch spot. No frills place with basic menu and fast service. Can’t complain at this price point, would recommend.

The small plate was miserably small on the portion serving. Even for someone who doesn’t like over exaggerating portions thought this la was ridiculous for 13.00

Silk Road is killer, the crab rangoons are so buttery and delicious, and the spicy chicken rocks. No question about freshness here they have a window into the kitchen where you'll typically see chef's cutting up veggies or cooking on one of the big wok's. A must try if you're working in the loop.

It's not what it used to be. I got my favorite, the spicy chicken and it was just ok. Between the styrofoam container and the plastic bag my chicken was soggy. The fried rice was just ok too. Not sure if I'll be returning anytime soon

I haven't eaten there since before the pandemic started. The quality is not the same. I ordered my usual and favorite spicy chicken. However, I was given a lot of scraps and not much chicken, also the veggies were omitted from my meal.

This place is already known to many Chicago financial district lunch goers. Good service and good foods under budget. They've continued to serve their famous spicy chicken for more than two decades from the original Jackson location to current W Arcade Pl location. All foods are prepared onsite. Popular dishes are prepared and ready to serve. some menu they cook after you placed your order. Waiting time is less than 5 mins.

This place has the BEST spicy chicken. I have been coming here since 2001! I have never found another place that makes the spicy chicken like they do. This is all I order from here, so I cannot comment on their other food. It is always fresh as they are cooking it right in front of you.

Spicy chicken is classic. Orange chicken also good. Get the noodles instead of rice.

Not today. What kind of combination fried rice has no shimp? I asked for spicy combination rice and plenty of packet of soy and sweet/sour sauce, got two oversize bowls of some kind of liquids, vegetables are hard and I can't stand the texture of this rice, long sigh...

I got spicy chicken. Not Kung Pao, but spicy... It was fine. I'd do it again.... But not great. Fatty at times. Seemed divey (if that's your thing)... A bit over priced for the quality, but then again how many Chinese options are there in the loop ...
