I went with my partner for lunch. It took forever to get our food. I got two hotdogs and the buns were so hard it actually hurt my mouth to eat it. My potato salad was very good. My partner only was able to half of his sandwich it didn't taste right. I asked for a refill on my Pepsi and the kid at the register just ignored me and started talking to the other employee next to him. When we first started going to Schmaltz it was great the food was always spot on and the service was amazing. They moved down the road and it was like they forgot how to have manners and make good food. I didn't want to ask for a manager because the last time they offered to refund my money and I'm not looking for free food. I just wanted to see them succeed. But this was our last time going. For the service we received the last few times and the quality of the food I will go elsewhere. I am sorry maybe they just need to get better staff or something. I will give credit where it deserves, the restaurant is very clean.

May 2022 First time here and it did not disappoint. Delicious to the last bite. We split the #14 Sloppy Paul and a Latkes.

Very confusing visit. First time at new location. The parking is confusing. I guess it is a maze to accommodate the drive thru. The staff seemed confused about helping people ordering or handing out mobile orders. Try having a different person for each job. We were confused about the price increase on sandwiches we have purchased many times at old location. We were also confused at how dry the meat was on all of our sandwiches. We are not confused about going back. We won’t. $80 for four sandwiches and a loaf of bread is insane. The pickles were good, so 3 stars for the pickles!

Check out the award-winning classic Jewish deli - Schmaltz Delicatessen! Soup, sandwiches, salads, hotdogs, and sweet treats for everyone! Most of their meats are cooked in-house, including their beef brisket and roast beef. Try their traditional New York City-style bagels and housemade cream cheese!

Really has fallen from Grace. Waited 30 minutes in the "drive thru" only to spend $62 on 4 sandwiches 😂. The double stuffed pastrami sandwich is now the size of what their regular stuffed sandwich was 5 years ago and it costs $18 🤯 my regular stuffed sandwich was more bread than meat. Really used to love this joint but I don't think I will be back again.

The sandwiches here are Huge! I ordered the sloppy Paul. It was delicious . I could only eat half of the sandwich. I recommend taking the ride here. Worth the drive and more. They also carry seasonal deserts. Check it out, you will Not regret it.

Sad to write this review because I’ve been coming here for years. The food is delicious, but my disappointment is how they’re serving their food now. I decided to order a #8 today and was given maybe a a teaspoon of chicken salad, with the slice of tomato and some lettuce. I had to throw the sandwich out because my first bite was all of the meat I received. I wasn’t able to say anything because by the time I came back, they had closed. They used to be so much higher quality. Sadly, it’s still very chaotic to order here any time of the day. They’re experiencing staff shortages, which is hard on them. Every time I come in here, there is a new kid working and I can tell everyone is just overwhelmed. Some customers that come in there are very rude to the staff, so, you can imagine what they have to put up with. You have to be very patient if you want to eat here because the pandemic has really affected them. Sad to see one of my favorites deteriorate. Sign of the times, I guess. Hope they bounce back.

We had an amazing meal here at Schmaltz! I brought my entire family here - they have a huge party room that was able to accommodate all 30 of us! The food was incredible and the service was superb. The menu is extensive and has yummy options for all dietary restrictions and preferences, like vegetarian, vegan, and tons of carnivore options! We topped off our delicious, hefty-portioned meals with delicious cheesecake and carrot cake. The ambiance is also fantastic, the music selection is on point, and we loved the modern-industrial atmosphere. We would recommend this establishment to anyone - couples, families, friends, and large get togethers!

When I think Deli, I never know what I’m quite going to get. Some delis are hit and miss or don’t have quiet what you’re looking for. Schmaltz does! Their sandwiches and desserts are absolutely amazing! With a variety of sides and offerings, I am never disappointed. The new location is absolutely amazing with a great authentic Deli vibe. And the Blackout Chocolate Cake, heaven! Any time I’m in the Chicago area, I go to Schmaltz!

Visited Schmaltz while on a recent trip to Lisle, Illinois. The food was outstanding!! We ordered for 6 people and got a wide variety of sandwiches, hot dogs and bagels. Every item was generous and beautifully made. There were no mistakes with the delivery and it was fast. My sandwich was an egg salad which can be good but frequently not based on how it is prepared. Being a vegetarian it’s a risk I have to take sometimes and it’s was perfect. Very tasty. Will visit again.

Had an absolutely delicious pastrami sandwich. Matzo ball soup was on point, very flavorful. Got some bagels to go and those are perfect as well. Perfectly chewy and very well seasoned. Not sure if it was just the timing I came in but the A/C was on incredibly high to the point where my food was getting cold quick. Overall I highly recommend and I am looking forward to trying again!

Phenomenal bagels - just order ahead! First off, these are the best bagels to be found in the west Chicago suburbs, hands down. Flavor, chewiness, schmear - it's all there. Particular props for a thoroughly coated everything bagel! That said, I highly recommend ordering ahead - seems the business has gone through some changes in recent months and in-store efficiency and timelines truly leaves much to be desired. Hope they're able to get through the growing pains and/or staffing struggles. In the meantime, the wait is worth it!

I should of read the recent reviews first. Great sandwiches but they've gone crazy on pricing.... $20 for one small sandwich with a pickle (see photo for what that gets you). Hope they do well at this location with this price model, but I won't be back--I can't afford it! And they still refuse to give bagel chips out with to-go orders...

The best sandwiches and customer service! Family owned place that has amazing food and the staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Make sure to get the Reuben!

Can't say enough about this Deli. Delicious food and greatly missed. Downtown Chicago had many delis once upon a time. So glad we made the trip. We also found out they are moving, though not far from this location. Just around the corner on Ogden. Looks like their own free-standing building.

Went thru drive-thru, and it was very convenient. However I when I checked my bag at home my complimentary item was missing...my pickle. And I wasn't going back 8 miles to get it! Always check your bags before leaving!

One person in front of us and it was 15 minutes before we could even order. The employee behind the counter was having a nice conversation with the gentleman ahead of us. I get being friendly with the people, but when other people are waiting to order, it would have been nice had he expedited a bit more quickly.

We’ve been some of the ORIGINAL Schmaltz lovers since Howard opened in Naperville 20 years ago!

For a deli, it was pretty slow. The pickle had absolutely no flavor at all. And who offers a pastrami sandwich without any Mustang, because the pastrami also had very little flavor also. I found the staff to be very helpful and it was clean hence the 3rd star. I would give the food for the flavor and price a 2

Friendly service that makes you feel like you have been coming for years! The host was gracious and the two servers (Martha and Sara) I interacted with were helpful knowledgeable and delightful to talk to. Classic deli decor. Bathrooms were clean, stocked and well maintained. Ordered the overstuffed Ruben and the meat was tender, flavorful, juicy and the sandwich was delicious. The bread and bagel chips were on point! I’m a larger than average man with a healthy appetite and I only finished half the sandwich. Excited to hear they will be open till 8 for dinner soon serving beer and wine.

This is my second review of a local deli. To my surprise this shop has relocated to the place formerly known as Bob Chinn’s Crab House on Ogden. Anyway the food is really good, pastrami is full flavor without over seasoning.

If this were America’s Got Talent, all the chairs would have turned around. My wife and I came in for an omelette and French toast. Then we stayed around for a slice of the cinnamon coffee cake. Kudos to the chef and staff and all they do at Schmaltz Deli. It’s all made & baked in-house too. Definitely a slice of heaven for those who are missing Manhattan.

Pricey but what isn't these days. But this place at least kept quality and quantity. The corned beef was very lean and piled. high on the roll. Very tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful even though we walked in 15 minutes before closing which was not intentional

Sandwich was very good. Meat and bread delicious but mustard a bit too spicy. Was not aware it had horseradish in it or would have ordered regular mustard. Would have preferred potato chips or fries rather than bagel chips also.

Very good. The knish was great. The bagel was great. The corned beef pastrami sandwich could have been heated more to make the cheese melt. Overall, excited to try other menu choices during another visit.
