We came during restaurant week: We ordered the onion soup, and the Benedict for brunch; the soup was good but the Benedict muffin tasted old and reheated. The welcoming staff and the service was great. Parking was a lot harder than I thought, there’s a self park around the corner (expensive), valet for $15 or if you’re lucky around the school nearby during weekends.

Great service. Very classic French brasserie decor and delicious food. My steak was cooked perfectly so please give a raise to the meat station cook that worked brunch this past Sunday! The only thing I would say is instead of bake goat cheese they should definitely swap it out with baked Brie.

Such an awesome gem, very neighborhood feel in a beautiful building. Staff is polite and food is delicious. Went for the first time for Mother’s Day brunch and loved it. Will certainly be back many times in the future.

This is a solid choice for a French restaurant and great for steak and frites. There are about 5 different sauces for the steak and frites and they are all very tasty. The French onion soup and mussels are also very strong choices and you can ask the server to split one order for the soup to two which is a much more manageable portions.

Amazing food! I ordered the corn beef hash and it was amazing. Each person I visited with ordered something different and we each loved everything we ordered. I also loved drinking my latte out of the bowl. The staff was also very professional and extremely polite. If you make a reservation, don't try to arrive early. We arrived around 30 minutes early due to concerns on how to get there and weren't able to be seated early, which was perfectly fine.

We chose Mon Ami Gabi in Chicago to throw my Mom a Surprise 70th Birthday Party. From the beginning, working with Julie was a wonderful experience. We planned the menu, the seating, elements of decor, and other logistics that are part of planning a party. The restaurant accommodated our special menu requests and worked tirelessly with us to develop the best table layout. Later in the planning process, she welcomed me to come tour the place (even in the midst of the COVID surge). In a technical sense, planning an event with this restaurant is done through an online guest portal where all the details for the event are stored (contracts, payments, menus) etc, and any email conversation flows in and out through that portal. I have had other venues or event services work through a portal, but more often than not, some kind of glitch happens. It was a such a relief to have a system that actually worked. Additionally, I found Julie to be extremely responsive to my emails. Once the planning was done, it was time for the party, and everything went off without a hitch. The servers and other restaurant staff were there to set up the tables with the amazing linens that were rented from Windy City Linen, and help with any other items that were needed. The space came together beautifully! I was fortunate to have "Justy" working our event and she was fantastic! Our guests raved about the food (especially the french onion soup), and the fare was served in an orderly and timely fashion (not too soon and not too late). I like to say it was the "Goldilocks" of service. All the staff at Mon Ami Gabi helped us create a very memorable day for my Mom and we cannot thank them enough for all their effort, positive energy, and overall superb service. Anyone looking to create a special event that you will remember for a lifetime for all good reasons, can't go wrong choosing Mon Ami Gabi in Chicago.

Beautiful setting and delicious food with attentive staff. (A great deal during restaurant week too!) Went with my friends who live in Chicago and they both rate this as their top restaurant in the city. Absolutely loved the French onion soup and the steak. A wonderful restaurant to visit especially for a special occasion.

Ooh là là, I was a little food drunk after we left this place! The restaurant is inside of a gorgeous building in Lincoln Park right by the lake and the zoo. The atmosphere is breezy and friendly yet sophisticated. Everything we ordered was absolutely divine, but the knockout winner was those warm Oiishi prawns. I wanted to drink that lemon butter (and did). Extra points for having zero proof cocktails on the menu!

We recently visited Mon Ami Gabi and our experience was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was outstanding. The food was full of flavor with presentation on the simple side. The only issue we had was that the side of spinach for the filet mignon was too salty for us.

This restaurant is a triumph of French cuisine and human experience. You want the bread and butter. You want the steak frites. You want dessert. Also, not a red meat eater? You want the salmon. Every part of the meal was simple, but meticulous. The waitstaff were attentive. The atmosphere, quaint and homey.

Dinner was great and the service was excellent. The single star is due to pervasive fruit flies issues throughout dinner, and we were indoors, and nowhere near the bar or any trash. Management kindly addressed it, and dessert was comped, but this is a serious sanitation issue. In hindsight, we should have left sooner. If you look closely at the attached photo 7 of the spots you see on the table paper are dead fruit flies.

Absolutely delicious! Everything was good. French onion soup was amazing, steak and frites were to die for. You should get the mousse as well!

So mad that I didn't take a picture of the mussels or escargot. Aw man! Everything was AWESOME!! I cannot even go into details of how rich, buttery, fresh, decadent every item was. Even the bread made me want to live another day. I originally didn't even want to go. I'm glad I did. Yum! Cannot wait to go back for the mussels and bread along with the steak and fries!

We had a very nice and professional waitress (I do not remember her name, but I'm sure she will be recognized by my description). She was wearing glasses I believe, we went there a couple weeks ago. We celebrated a special occasion and picked this restaurant for its location, atmosphere and food experience. We loved the ambiance. The sauce on the escargots was delicious. Good quality steak, but the fries were a little burnt. On a different note, good wine and tasty deserts. We were pleased to see that our waitress was such a pro too. Everybody we interacted with was very nice and polite. There was an older gentlemen who kept making sure we had water and our table clean as our waitress was supplying us with food recommendations, fast service and a good vibe. From the beginning to the end, she kept the standards high and she seemed real. None of that fake smile, or if it was, we couldn't tell. She did a great job playing her part in our beautiful dinner experience. Thank you!

Food was incredible! Our server was also fabulous and very attentive and patient. We were out on a rare date night away from our son and took a while to order - never rushed us and was awesome! Food and drinks were all delicious and we cannot wait to go back!

The location is easy to find, and they have seating inside or outside. We made reservations ahead of time because we were coming in from out of town and wanted to make sure we had a spot. Parking was an issue, however, they do have valet parking if you pay $15. The atmosphere was sophisticated with dim lighting. Our waitress was somewhat attentive. The food was excellent. My sister had an Expresso Martini , escargots as an appetizer, small pot mussels as the entree and chocolate mousse as a dessert. I had a hibiscus mule to drink ($13), roast chicken as my entree ($30) and a glass of Riesling ($14). There was a restaurant charge on my bill for I believe $1.77. definitely not the cheapest place to go to but a great experience and delicious food.

I’ve been to Mon Ami Gabi for the past 20 years. It’s my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Tonight was especially wonderful. The ambience, the food, the service, the music, was so perfect. Mon Ami Gabi is truly the French charming restaurant from all aspects : food quality, service, atmosphere and interior decor. All factors create the awesome dining experience. We had seafood platter, house salad with avocado, trout almondine, mussels ( French bread is perfectly made) and apple tart. Thank you Chef, Mark ( amazing server) and all the team. Everyone is friendly and attentive.

It’s not Paris, but the restaurant is beautiful, the food is tasty, and the service is wonderful! It actually kind of feels like you’re in NYC, dining by Central Park. I went for brunch - great variety of foods and you can get their classic steak frites at that time if you like. Absolutely loved the quiche and chocolate mousse! Good vegetarian options for brunch (not as many for dinner). Also, there’s free parking all along the park!

Outstanding food, drinks, and venue. My experience at Mon Ami Gabi was second to none. The food was incredible and accompanied by an extensive wine + cocktail list. The wait staff was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. This is such a fun date night spot and I highly recommend it!!

I enjoyed my brunch here. The food are delicious! The atmosphere was chill, relaxing, classy. The service was great! I've had a steak Benedict, a glass of blood orange Mimosa, and my favorite creme brulee' for the Sunday brunch. I just added this for my go to places for brunch around Chicago area.

I wish I could have eaten here twice! Amazing food and service. Steak was tender and flavorful. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir and it was very smooth- worth every penny (the wine is not cheap here). I also highly recommend the apple tart.

Outstanding experience hosting my daughter's bridal shower here from our first inquiry months ago until the wonderful event itself. While we knew the food and decor would be beyond 5*, what really set this experience apart was the Mon Ami team. Many thanks to Julie, Justy, John, Eric and anyone else I'm missing for your genuine kindness and attention to detail which ensured a lovely, memorable time was had by all.

Absolutely loved it. The vibe whether you're inside or outside -where we were- was excellent, especially given the location right across the zoo park. Besides the no brainer onion soup with oh-so-good Gruyere cheese which everyone should absolutely get, we highly recommend the baked goat cheese tomato dip with the garlic bread. Just incredible, and that's coming from my wife who isn't a big fan of goat cheese. For the main course, my wife had the tenderloin au poivre, medium rare, and I'd say it was in the top league among the best in the city, second only IMO to Rosebud's Trio special, but still way better than many 'high end fine dining' restaurants with subpar cuts. I had the last beef short ribs special available today, and while the meat itself was great as I'd expect short ribs to be, the sauce was a little too cinnamon-y in a way that distracts from the cut itself. I would stick to their main dishes. As for the dessert, if they have Creme Brulee, go for it. It was absolutely incredible. The Profitrole was okay, but the chocolate flavor wasn't deep/dark enough, and it was too big tbh for a dessert. Service was top notch, especially that we didn't have to rush through overlapping courses, and instead, we got to enjoy the first cheese, then had our soups delivered, then our main courses. Can't wait to come back!

A little heavy on the salt, but very attentive service and a nice traditional French bistro taste and presentation.

Visited 6 times in six months, and experience has been consistently great. Staff is knowledgeable and attentive, food is amazing, and atmosphere is wonderful. Although there isn’t a venue that can guarantee best experience, this one comes pretty close for me.

Everything we got was amazing! The baguettes were amazing. The wine was perfect. The place was busy, but makes sense for how good the food is.

We had a fantastic dinner and outstanding service! Food was great and the portions were big. Our server was Michelle and she was very knowledgeable about the wine list. She recommended the perfect Bordeaux that we absolutely loved! We will definitely be back!
